How to configure basic and alternative unit of measure(UOM) for a material ?
If KG - basic UOM
Mtrs - Alternative UOM
Here we procure material (GR, PO) with basic UOM, no prob with this system ill pick basic UOM automatically.
and if we need to make GI with Alternative UOM ?
How to configure the above scenario ?

Hi,
As you procure material (GR, PO) with basic UOM(KG) and you want to make GI in Mtrs - Alternative UOM.
Go to MM02 , enter your material{( you must have UOM(KG) } and select view of General Plant data/Storage 1 and in unit of issue field enter meter, then system will ask you to enter conversion factor Mtrs to KG. Enter your conversion factor and save.
Now try ur transaction.

Can someone give me a function module, which will convert the Unit of measure into basic unit of measure
Say a a material has 3 CA (Cases) in a PO and the conversion factor(UMREZ in table MARAM) for CA for that material is 4 and converison for MP (Master pack) is 12,then
3CA = 9 PC = (9/12) MP
But I want a function module which will do this conversions ?

Basic unit of measure conversion

If one PAC needs to contain 10 units, what should the conversion table look like in the "additional data" screen of MM02?

If one PAC needs to contain 10 units:
conversion table look like:
X AUN Measurement unit text <= Y BUN measurement unit text
1 PAC Pack <= 10 (ST) Units
and
if for the material you maintained ( BUN) basic unit of measure as ST -- units, then one pacK = 10 units. if you maintained in KG then one pacK = 10 kgs.

Basic Unit Change

Dear Sir,
I have maintain for some material Basic unit of measure as NOS in the material master and the issue of unit as KG.Now I want to change the basic unit of measure as M(Meter) for same item.Is this possible.If this how can I do this and what the T code will I use.

With refernce to my previous posted thread, below I am giving the detailed copy of *PERFORMANCE ASSISTANCE*
The Performance Assistance is giving me solution to proceed but for proceeding further is not possible. As max no of sessions are 2.
Also massege is generated by MM02 & solution given is also same MM02.

You wanted to change the base unit of measure. However, you can do so only under certain circumstances, including the following:
If there are no stocks of the material in the current period and in the previous period
If there are stocks in the previous period, you can clear them as follows:
a) Post the stock in the previous period to the current period (for example, using movement type 561) so that the stock for the previous period is the same as the stock for the current period.
b) Clear the stock with the posting date in the previous period (for example, using movement type 562).
If no purchase requisitions, purchase orders, or scheduling agreements exist for the material
Procedure
Choose Display errors to see why you cannot change the base unit of measure for this material.
The pushbutton Display errors appears only in dialog mode, not in data transfer or in mass maintenance. If this message appears in data transfer or in mass maintenance, and you want to know why the base unit of measure cannot be changed, access the material in dialog mode using the relevant transaction below, try to change the base unit of measure as required, and then choose Display errors:

Dear Friend,
Please do the following:
1. MM02 + material number, select basic view 1
2. Change the BUoM + press enter
3. A button called 'Display error' will appear between the description of the transaction and 'basic view 1' tab. ( left from 'Additional data' button ) > please click on it
4. Examine the message

Click on unit of measurement and then on the top menu click on unit of measurement and then click new entry. You will be able to define UOM's
Standard settings
In the standard delivery system, units of measurement are defined according to the international system of units (SI).
For a new installation, units of measurement are delivered in all clients. For upgrades, new units of measuremente are delivered only in Client 000. They then still have to be transported to the production clients.
Recommendation
If you intend to perform cross-company data exchange, note that units of measurement with company-specific characteristics may have an adverse effect.
Activities
Check that the dimensions delivered and the associated units of measurements are complete.
If you are using EDI, you should also check the ISO codes.
Next to Tab: Unit of Measurement, is Dimension. If you have the required deimension for UoM, select the same or create one to select; else select AAAADL (No Dimension).

Basic question with measures & MDX

Is there a way tell Essbase not to rollup a measure for example if at the lowest customer ID we did a calc X*Y but we don't want the parent customer to aggregate the sum of all of it's children for that one measure...For example if you had a parent and you gave each customer a rating according to sales turnover, when you get to the parent, you don't want to add all the sales turnover %s together, you might do a weighted avg.

I am finding the syntax for MDX to be much more "challenging" than the Essbase syntax. I miss having the 2 pass.
Here is the formula:

Basically I need it to calc at level 0 and then roll up for anything not level 0. Now it is SUPER slow. I know it's the isleaf, but not sure what else to do. I tried islevel(customer,0) but didn't work. The customer dimension is HUGE!!! 154000 members stored.
The data loaded at level 0 for drawn, customer, product, measure, period, year, Costcenter. I just want it to calc at this level and roll up only this portion of the calc. My issue is at level 1, etc it is still doing the amt*risk PCT* Corp pct. Which ultimately is giving us ridiculous answers.
I pinged some of my colleagues and they said "yeah, this is why we try to do BSO when possible" There has to be a simple way to do this...it's not that complex of a calc....

Noob shopping 4 basic unit, need DVD eSata + gigabit Enet, HDD

I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the choices here, hoping some here may be so familier with the product line they'll be able to point me in the right direction.
First of all I don't have a lot of money, don't need latest and greatest bells and whistles, things like reliability/durability and battery life are more important.
That said I'd like a Haswell processor, ideally "ultra" but i5's fine and I'd like to be able to go to 12+GB RAM later on if possible. Prefer integrated graphics.
Definitely NEED DVD burner, eSata and gigabit ethernet.
HDD rather than SSD, ideally 7200.
I assume even if it ships with W8 I'll be able to (driver issues, licensing not an issue) downgrade to W7. And Linux compatibility, so an older model might be better than the newer one.
In fact I'd LOVE to find a second-hand unit on eBay if it'll save more than a couple hundred. . .

eSATA has been slowly phased out for USB 3.0, there are not many modern Haswell laptops that also has eSATA.
For ThinkPad, the T420 and T520 was the last to have eSATA, and they are not ultrabay.
If you are okay with eSATA, then consider T430u (which is a ultrabook, but no DVD drive) and T430 (a normal laptop with dvd burner). Both of them are capable of handling 16 gigs of ram.
If you are okay with older laptop, then T420 and T520, which has eSATA and 16 gigs of ram capability, and also has dvd burner.
Edge E520 is another option if you need cheap laptop that has eSATA, optical drive and 16 gigs of ram. Or the E530, which has USB 3.0 rather than eSATA.
All of them can be found cheap on ebay.

Alternative units of measure in MB52 & MC.1

         Good Morning.I have an issue while checking the stock by using T-code MB52 or MC.1.Before that in material master they maintained basic unit as NOS but in additional datas also they maintain alternatine unit ie Kgs.Now thy are ordering in Kgs issuing in Nos .At the time of checking stock using MB52 or   MC.1 here the system showing the stock in NOS .But they need in Kgs .Pls suggest me what kind of settings &datas to be maintained.
Onemore thing i need to share here they issuing the R/m in Nos .1 Nos =100gm,in this case every time or in next order the weight is varrying .but at the end of the month while taking a report they need exact stock in Kgs for this also pls suggest.
     In MMBE is possible to view in different units of measure . By selecting in Extras ---Alternative units.

      If i copy the mc.1 to make -Z report in this how can i view the stock in alternative units as Kgs..But in master datas we maitained as BUM-Nos . For the same material master we are maitaining in additional datas as 1000 nos =40 kgs, if i take the report system will calculate the current stock with the AUM as kgs .for this pls suggest ie have 1000 nos stock if i choose AUM it should shows as 40 Kgs .How to make program for calculating formulas.PLs reply me asap

HI Gurus,
I have maintained alternative units of measure in material master. but thats not getting reflected in my delivery print.
its showing basic UOM correctly but altern UOM its showing as zero. Do i need to maintain any other data.
Also at what level does this UOM will be maintained.

Numerator in Unit of Measure not big enough

Hi,
The numerator, field UMREZ, of the unit of measure has a maximun lenght of 5 digits ( maximum of 99999 ). But for certain conversion I need (in MM02-> aditional data->tab units of measure):
120000 EA = 1 ROL
How can I do this without entering something bigger than 99999?
I have thought in three alternatives:
1.- Modification of that data domain, so that it can be stored up to 999999.
2.- Use decimals in the denominator , so that I have something like 12000 EA = 0,1 ROL.
3.- With an auxiliar unit of measure EA2 ( created via CUNI, linked to EA): 10 EA2 = 1 EA :::::and then::::: 120000 EA2 = 1 ROL.
I havent been able to complete the 2nd and the 3rd. ANd I want to avoid the first...
Do you know if something like this can be done? if so, how????
I have found post UOM conversion not big enough but I could not find any usefull answer in there ...

Yes, I had already read this note, thanks for the info anyways.
They describe exactly my case:
Example 3: Too large numerators and denominators
                       When 120000 CM3 = 0,2 tons (TO), you can no longer save numerator and denominator of conversion ratio 600000 CM3 = 1 TO as numerator and denominator may have maximally five digits.
                       Here, you must either select a larger volume unit or a smaller unit of weight: With DM3 the conversion ratio would be 600 DM3 = 1 TO, with KG the conversion ratio would be 600 CM3 = 1 KG.
                       Generally, the alternative units of measure and the base unit of measure should result in quantities that are in the same dimension since the conversion factors may not be larger than 99999/1 and not smaller than 1/99999.
But I can not change the Basic Unit of Measure, because the Material has already movements, and I dont know how to create another unit of measure (let say EA2) linked to EA with a the value 1 EA2 = 10 EA. In this case I could use EA2 in the material with the conversion 12000 EA2 = 1 ROLL.
Is this possible? How can I create this unit? in CUNI I can create a new UOM but I dont see how to link it with an existing one ( create a conversion between them ) .

Purchase Order original Unit of Measure should be displayed in inventory?

Dear Gurus,
Here the situation is say a material M having a basic unit of measure EA(each). At the time of Purchasing the material M we are purchased in Packs say 1 pack = 10 EA. But the order quantity units is displayed in EA.
But here in my scenario i want to see the stock in inventory as Packs .
So, guru's is there any kind of flash lights will be appreciated.

Hi Madhu,
As I said in my earlier reply, you either can create a Variant of MMBE by having required PO UoM in field-Display UoM on selection screen of MMBE.
Or else, just execute MMBE and after having output of MMBE, press keyboard key-F6. System will come up with a window showing all Alternative UoM maintained for a particular material. Select the one in which you want to display the Inventory/Stock.

The program uses tables mard and mska. In mard table fields used are mard-matnr, mard-labst,mard-Lagerort,mska-sobkz,mska-vbeln, mska-posnr,e mard-werks.
the program call mb1a for updating the data using Bdc .
<b></b>the problem is that the quantity of the stock is
shown only in the base unit of measure .. but some material have Alternative Unit of measure ... Its not taking Alternative Unit of measure ...

the program aim is to transfer the stock from the storage location with reference to order number from CO (cobl-aufnr).
In mard when i am able to c the unit of issue for the selected material number.
My question is in the report program sap is not looking for the unit of issue . It is only taking basic unit of issue ... Is there any way that program looks for the Unit of issue .
