BasicTableUI.java Copyright information

I was wondering if someone could clarify some copyright information for me. I am Modifying BasicTableUI very heavily and some of it I could easily copy and paste, but I this is a commercial product I am working on and was curious how much flexibility there is with using snippets of the Swing source code, specifically BasicTableUI, in a closed source commercial application.

Well we are a small two person company and do not have any lawyers, but I was just hoping someone could tell me the type of license the java source is under, an apache style license or something more like GNU?

Export DNG file with copyright information

When importing my Canon CR2 RAW files, I convert them to DNG files into a folder with that days date, and automatically add my copyright information on import.
If there are any photos I want to process further I'll export them to a working folder, still as a DNG file. In the export dialogue box I can't seem to be able to include all metadata information - including the copyright information.
Will Lightroom allow me to do this? Or when exporting to my working folder, do I need to convert these files to TIFF?

When you export to DNG you don't have the option to select which metadata to export (the dialog box is grayed-out, and it defaults to All Metadata). you just export every single metadata you already have in you master file.

Bridge galleries not showing copyright information

I just installed PS CS4, and updated to 11.0.1. I tried creating a quick web photo gallery, and the copyright information doesn't appear anywhere - not on the images, not on the site or web pages. Is this a known issue? I can't seem to find any information on it

The reason why whis was puzzling me is that the automated photo gallery used to put the actualy copyright text on the photo - it appears that this is no longer the case with CS4 (I skipped CS3, so I have no idea if this was introduced in 3 or 4)

5D Mark III copyright information

5D Mark III copyright information shows up in the metadata but the copyright notice needs to be turned on manually in photoshop for each file. Is there anyway to turn it on with the automatic copyright within the camera?

I assume that the manual step you mention consists of copying the copyright notice from Canon's vendor-specific metadata to the corresponding IPTC field. The camera is ignorant of IPTC conventions; so if there's a way to perform the step automatically, I think it would have to be a setting in Photoshop.

Copyright information erroneously added upon export

When I export an image with no copyright data from Lightroom 3, copyright information is being applied from one of my metadata templates. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?

So, I just ran 4 tests. I had thought that the error didn't occur when I right-clicked the image and selected the export preset directly, but it does. The image I used in these tests is a DNG file with all fields listed in my 1:04pm post above removed, the Created field changed to another name and Copyright Status field set to unknown. Here are my tests and the results:
Using "Export" Button on Library Panel -- Selected the image and clicked Export from the left library panel. Used an export preset and saved the file to a drop folder on the same external drive and synchronized the folder. The error occurs (ie, all fields removed remain blank with the exeption of the Copyright field, which is repopulated with my copyright data).
Right-Clicking and Selecting Export Preset Directly -- Selected the image, right clicked and directly selected the export preset used in Test 1 above. Saved the file to a drop folder on the same external drive and synchronized the folder. The same error occurs.

Help: Copyright Information Lost

In LR 1.1 I add copyright information under the IPTC copyright category. When I open the file in Photoshop and check file information, the copyright information is missing. What am I doing wrong? How do I add copyright information in LR so that it is visible when the file is opened?

You'll need to use Cmd/Ctrl+S to write the metadata back into the file or XMP sidecar. This can be done on a file by file basis or multiple selected files.
The alternative is to switch On the "Automaticaly write changes into XMP" preference in Catalog Settings. Unfortunately, this can result in a degradation of performance.

How would I get the copyright data from an image in the DAM?

Assuming you are using image component[1] on a page and copyright is a string. As a sample you could use [2] to get the copyright information. I am not well versed with the API as there might be an better option to implement. But this just gives you an idea for the information you were looking for.

When I download a purchased album from iTunes, why is that I do not get record label information/copyright information?

Hello all,
I have OCD, and all my music is Purchased from iTunes. I used to have all my albums correctly organized and catelogued, and they always had their respective record labels/copyright information.
I had to redownload some music, and they are coming without this tag. Does anyone know why?
I have already deleted/redownload the whole library many times and it looks random. On my iPhone for example, the same album from Amy Winehouse yesterday was download twice, one time it came with all the correct tags, the next time it did not.
WHY does this happen? Where are we downloding music from?
This really bothers me. My music looks like it is not original and honestly I´m getting tired of trying to redownload everything over and over. I know these tags can be added manually - BUT I paid, and iTunes isn´t cheap, so what the ****?
And I know many might think this is very stupid, but it is a tag, as any other tag. What if your next redownload came with no album art?

You're not OCD. If you were OCD you would be so concerned about order that you would have a proper backup of your library and you could instantly replace anything missing with the exact beautifully organized copy you had before from the tragic and devastating disappearance of the track from your computer. If you have to re-download from Apple because something went missing on your computer it means sloppy computer habits.
I don't have any iTunes Store purchases but when I saw one on a computer once I recall copyright being stated in the summary information.

Finding copyright information on a song

I was wondering if there's a way to access more detailed copyright information on individual tracks. For example, the album "Christmas With Spike Jones and the Three Suns" lists the record label as Copyright Group, but after Google searching for hours, this record label doesn't seem to exist, nor does the album outside of iTunes.

I often answer my own questions it seems, but I found for "show tcp brief" I could do:

Is there a way to embed copyright information with forms?

I would like to put a copyright on custom forms I am creating, or not really a copyright but just an acknowldgement of my company as the creator of the form and of the practice which is using the form. Is there a way to embed this in a PDF. Not necessarily in a visible way either. I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9. My boss is demanding this so please help!

First you can add the information as a footer in the authoring program.
Next you can add custom meta data fields to include the copyright notice, contact information, and usage restrictions through the "File => Properties => Custom" UI or with JavaScript. Doc Properties info
You can also set the meta daa copyright through the "File => Properties => Description => Additional Metadata..." or with JavaScript. Doc Properties metadata
You can modify these scripts to make them functions that can be accessed by adding an option to an Acrobat menu item or as a tool bar button.

Java inputing information

well Im having problems with my Java
im doing a cource which I just want to pass and Ive got a little problem. I was going to hand this in... but then was told I need a input thingy to input the values into my array and I have an example code for importing String values. but I have nothing on how to input into my arrays

I agree. While there are certainly problems in some situations, most normal usage is going to not be a problem. So someone uses JS to fill inform data or add fields to a form? They can already fill in data. The new fields aren't going to be used by the server anyway. It makes little difference.
The real problems come when you are trying to store sensitive info in hidden fields. That could be messed with. And the solution is to not use hidden fields, but use the server (session data) to hold that.
Even calling submit() on a form should still be calling the onsubmit function, if you have one, to validate the data. But you often can't be sure that JS is enabled at all, so maybe you just validate things anyway on the server, and that avoids that problem.

JAVA API :: Information needed

Hi. I tought BI Publisher Java API would give me access to the server repository. And then, just execute something like:

But as far as I see, It only gives me the possibility yo LOCALLY consume an XML (somehow obtained) and use a XSL previously obtained.
What if just want to execute a report via JAVA, according to all the information I have completed for the report?
For example, if I have a report that uses a SQL DataSource, and receives 2 parameters, can't I just execute something like...

Java debug information

hy,
I was wondering, is it possible to let an Xlet log java output (debug information) and send it to a server on the set top box. These logging information should give information about all the applications running on the stb.
This in order to help debug problems on commercial STB without debug output and without the need to implement special functionality in all the applications.
Can someone point me out some resources? (I am a beginning java developer, so I think this is rather a java issue than an MHP or javaTV issue)

I've used a couple of development boxes and have found that writing to standard out, via calls to System.out.println() works well. There is probably a serial port on your debug box that you can connect up to a PC to read the the debug output.
If you want to know what applications can be run on the STB then you'll need to write a bit of code to query the org.dvb.application.AppsDatabase. getAppIDs() will return an enumeration org.dvb.application.AppID objects each of which can be looked up in the database to give you more information about the application in question

Deleting Copyright information

Hello All,
I've found numerous threads/articles on using Actions and Batches to add copyright metadata to files, and that's all fine and good. My question is: What's to keep someone from downloading my images, and merely putting their own metadata into the file?
Maybe there's something really basic I'm missing here?
How are you guys handling this kind of stuff?

As has been stated, that © metadata is to provide honest folk with the proper information, and also a means of contact, should it be required. Dishonest people will not be detered, even if they have to Crop, or retouch your watermark out of the image.
It's the same with video producers, who deliver their material on a DVD-Video. If they burn the disc (most common), there is no copyprotection that they can add. If they have their disc replicated, i.e. pressed by a commercial replication house, they can pay extra for various forms of copy protection, BUT almost any 12 year old has access to freeware programs that will break any/all copy protection in about as much time as it takes to load the DVD into a player.
One sage put it this way, "locks are to keep honest people out... " [maybe a paraphrase there?]
