BASIS+Enterprise Portal?

Hi Everyone,
I am new to SAP Basis. I recently finished my training in BASIS.
HOW WOULD BE THE COMBINATION OF BASIS AND EP FOR THE JOB MARKET?
IS IT SUGGESTABLE TO GO FOR EP NOW?
WILL I BE ABLE TO HANDLE EP AS WELL HAVING DONE BASIS?

  • Enterprise Portal Implementation & Configuration

    Hi All,
I am having Licence of SAP - Enterprise Portal. please guide me onto the following issue.
    1. How can I implement it & configure it on my sever( Installation & configuration ).
    2. How can I make it available for all users so that they can access the SAP-GUI (current version ECC6.0) from the Internet
Explorer  i.e., they can view all the reports & transactions with IE only.
    Please guide me in detail.
    Thanks.

    Hi Rajiv,
Configuration of Licence the Basis team will help you .
Regarding you want to make sap GUI transaction & Report accessable to all users.
You have to follow the step
    1. Define the system in Portal which will connect backend ECC.
    2. You have to create iview ,Page, worksets and roles
    3. Roles need to assign into User.
I am just breafing the things .. Please specify your requirement and at which stage you are in.

  • Rowlevel secuirty in Crystal reports when integrated in Enterprise portal

I have a very simple crystal report which is developed against ECC data using the Open Sql Driver.
Do I have to included some kind of code/logic in the report design for the SAP row-level security that already exists on SAP server to pass to the Crystal reports when report is run from the portal.
Please suggest me the possible solution for this.?

    Ingo,
Your input previously was very helpful.
I do have one more question for you.
If a Crystal report is designed using Open Sql Driver against ECC tables and this report is published on to BO Enterprise and both the BO and the SAP Enterprise Portal are both integrated, row level security is also implemented on SAP server.
Now, when SAP user logs into the SAP Enterprise Portal and try to run this crystal report will then the user receive a database logon pop window to enter the client#, SAP login ID and Pwd like we receive it in the Crystal Designer?
If Yes, I believe there is nothing to be taken care of at the Crystal designer level to include some kind of Special fields like CurrentCEUserID and so. In this case the data fetched on to the report already includes Users row level security.
If No, how to configure crystal reports to pull data based on the user and user's role....what kind of special fields have to be included in the record selection or in the data base pop window of the report...?
    Please provide your inputs...

  • ABAP WD: Different display in Test window and enterprise portal

    Hi,
I am using Table and TreeByNestingtable column in ABAP webdynpro(Basis 710 release). When I run the application using test, table captions are not in bold and there is no difference between TreeByNestingtable column and other columns in background color.
But when I display the same component in Enterprise portal using iview(EP 6), the table captions appear in bold and TreeByNestingtable column and other columns appear in different background color.
Has anybody encountered this issue? And how do we resolve it?
    Regards,
    Srini.

Please see OSS Note 903662 on restrictions and steps for running ABAP Web Dynpro in older releases of the portal.  In particular you should disable the portal style sheet.

  • What are the activities of Enterprise Portal Admin do ???

    Hello Form,
    I am a BASIS Person (R/3, WEB AS upto 6.40) . I have installed EP 6.0 also.
I am new to Enterprise Portal.
1.If some one can list all the topics for a EP Administrator that will be great help for me to focus my study.
    2. Also What are the activities of EP Administrator
    Thanks a lot.
    Ravish

    Hi Ravish,
<b>Ques 1) If some one can list all the topics for a EP Administrator that will be great help for me to focus my study.</b>
<b>Ans:</b> As a EP administrator you have to take care of all all the issues regarding the:
    1. Creation of Users, Groups, Roles.
    2. Assigning the roles to the user.
    3. Creating and managing the groups and assigning the users to grops.
    4. Taking care of all the portal Object created. Checking of all the Portal related logs for insuring that all the portal services are working fine.
    5. If there are some issues regarding the users data and there objects then you have to take care of that.
I guess you must be knowing that there are few roles that you need to have the full control of portal. You must these roles to manage all the administrative functions of the portal.
<b>Ques 2. Also What are the activities of EP Administrator?</b>
Ans: Well this question is more or less same as above. I cannot figure out what extra you want to know here. But also let me tell you about the KM related issues in Portal. There is one part of EP that is <b>KM (Knowledge Management)</b>. This is related with the Knowledge sharing using the management of the documents and other resources which are stored in the server repository. By this functionality you can manage the document and can share your documents and relevant data with other.
One more thing is <b>Collaboration</b>, related to the collaboration of various members of the portal. Here you can configure IM (Instant Messsaging), Desktop Sharing, and various other features.
I think this information will help you. If you want some more clarification then please let me know.
    Regards
    Pravesh

  • Looking for Enterprise Portal training

I am looking for recommendations, for Portal Admin training (EP6).  We are about to upgrade from EP5 to EP6, and take on a few new projects on the new platform.  I would be interested in topics such as installation, security, deploying iviews, system configuration, user management, monitoring and tuning.
I am NOT looking for developer training, I am in Basis and we have other developers that will write the code.
    Thanks,
    Scott

I am new to SAP Enterprise Portal (NetWeaver) and am looking for advice on SAP courses to take.
I am looking to start with SAPEP (SAP NetWeaver Portal Fundamentals).  Do you know of anyone that has taken this course and could you tell me if it is beneficial to take as a preview to JA100 (SAP J2SE fundamentals)?  Can I continue with the Java courses without this class, etc?
    Is SAPEP worth the costs?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Hosting two portals on a single instance of enterprise portal server

    Hi,
We have a requirement to host two different portals on a single instance of enterprise portal server. The URLs to the portals would be different. Also for logging into the portal, one portal would have only User ID and Password and
the other may have Retailer ID, User ID and Password for logging.
I am trying to understand what kind of an approach needs to be followed. There
is a single instance of Oracle server where PCD is stored.
How will authentication/authorization happen and how would the user data be stored for both the portals in a single instance of Oracle database.
    Thanking you in advance,
    Regards,
    Veena

    Hi,
in general,  could do that by using a distinct role concept. With the "Collection of base rules" you can assign different portal desktops with different layouts to everyone based on criterias like groups, roles or users.
We have 4 very different portals running inside one instance. Every portal has its own standardized structure and is selected by logon groups, that points to roles, which points to desktops.
What will not work is a logon concept other than "userid, password". SAP, by default. only allows standard authentication with userid and password or ticket. Even if you use an LDAP that would have that distinction, you cannot query that property without modifying the system
If you want to use anything different, you have to write a new logon handler for the logon stack (using JAAS). This is tricky, but not outrageous difficult. We have implemented three different new steps in the logion stack, each handles a different case, from ip-based logon, ticket or LDAP query. It is possibly, all of them don't have more than 20 lines of java.
    But, still tricky.
It is a broad theme and you can try it out with showcasing two different desktop themes belonging to two different roles. Than you can work your way through tge problems.
In terms of database, it makes no distinction. You work solely with the PCD, and that is stored in the database. We are using DB2 and I've never touched the DB at all.

  • SAP Enterprise Portal - Post Installation Tasks

    Hello everyone,
I am a beginner in the area of SAP Enterprise Portal. Please bear with me in case if I ask you stupid questions.
"Our idea is to deploy the BIW 3.5 IVIEW over the portal"
I have installed the SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP6 on Windows 2000 server environment. I have followed the install guide and I have done the installation successfully. I am also able to logon to the portal server using the irl url http://sodium:5000/irj/portal as an Administrator.
As a BASIS administrator point of view, what are the next Post Installation activities that I need to perform?
(Our idea is to deploy the BIW 3.5 Iview over the portal)
    I really appreciate your responses.
    Thanks & regards,
    Nikee

    Hello Nikee,
Simply define the SAP BW system, add an Alias, import portal certificate (for SSO), and start creating functional iview that can render your BW queries and reports.
Create a System pointing to the BW server with the following details:
    a) System ID
    b) Client
    c) Web Access Point with "WAS" as category containing the following
    entries: -
    · Protocol
    · Hostname
Note: Domain name of WAS should be same as portal domain
    After that create BW iviews
QueryString is in the form "CMD=LDOC&infocube=myCube&query=myQuery"
You should have WAS on the BW server and also IGS shall also be present.
To follow with the latest, see note #489961 and
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/33/39fa40ee14f26fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    Hope this will help.

  • BW Workbook as an iView in the Enterprise Portal

I keeping getting a dialog box asking to select the appropriate program to open the workbook. When I select .xls it opens, and it shows the parameters I entered and not the workbook. The customer is on NW04 Stack 11.
I followed ever step on help.sap.com site as listed below.
BW workbooks are MS Excel workbooks with one or more embedded BW queries. You are able to display these workbooks in the Enterprise Portal as iViews.
    Features
Workbooks are displayed in a separate MS Excel window. Opening workbooks within the Web browser window is not possible for technical reasons.
BW workbooks require the BEx Analyzer, which requires a local installation of the SAP GUI for Windows with the BW front end.
SAP recommends that you use BEx Web applications in the Enterprise Portal that run completely in the Web browser.
You can use the function Export as Excel 2000 File from the BW Web application context menu as an alternative to using a local installation of the BW front end if you require Excel functions. See Context Menu Functions  and Exporting as a CSV File/Excel 2000 File.
An iView with a workbook can be generated using the Portal Content Studio or Role Upload. For more information, see Generating Content from SAP BW for the Enterprise Portal.
The iViews are of type SAP Transaction iView and have the code link com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction.
The most important properties are System, Transaction (TCODE) and ApplicationParameter.
·The System property contains the alias on the BW system (see Creating BW Systems in the  Portal).
·The transaction code for every workbook is RRMXP.
·The value WBID= is in the ApplicationParameter property.
You can determine the workbook ID with the BEx Analyzer:
    a. Open the desired workbook.
    b. In the BEx toolbar, choose ® OLAP Functions for Active Cells ® Properties. The Information tab page contains the Workbook ID (Server).
Note that with BW workbooks as an iView, the AutoStart property contains the value True (process first screen) and the GuiType property contains the value WinGui.
Anyone have a solution for this to work?
    Thanks,
    -Eli

    Dear Rasmesh,
Please try to do this suggestion:
    3. How can I use SAP Application Integrator to access SAP transactions?
There are two different ways to use the SAP Application Integrator transaction iView. In both cases please use a URL like 'irj://com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction' followed by your custom parameters like '?System=DEV&TCode=SE38&GuiType=WinGui &WinGui_Type=Shortcut&OkCode=SHOP'.
    The parameters are:
    System [mandatory]
    TCode [mandatory]
    GuiType (=WinGui / WebGui / JavaGui) [mandatory]
WinGui_Type (=Shortcut ..if you want to launch the GUI in a new window)
OkCode (The OkCode that you would like to be executed after the transcation is called by SAP GUI.)
ApplicationParameter (Pass these values to your screen fields which needs to be be separated by
    AutoStart (true / false)
    UseSPO1 (true / false)
For a complete list of parameters please consult http://help.sap.com.

  • Configure SSO Connection from SAP Enterprise Portal to BOE Server

    Hi Guys,
We recently installed a BOE Server and want to connect it to our SAP Enterprise Portal. What we need is just to display the Crystal Reports via Enterprise Portal. We have set up the following:
    SAP EP with AD Authentication
SAP EP configured with SNC to SAP BI7 system
SAP BOE XI 3.1 - SAP Integration Kit
BOE Server configured with SAP Authentication via SAP BI7 System
We've also set up BOE IK iviews and URL iviews pointing to existing reports in BOE. However, when we access it from EP, it prompts for a username and login to BOE. Is there a way to configure these so that there is no prompt for login to BOE server and SSO is used? Is it also possible to have a service account (e.g. domain/crystal) that will run the reports in BOE everytime a user accesses a report from SAP EP?
Let me know if this is at all possible

    Hi,
You should configure InfoView for SSO first, which required infoview.xml file modification, using windows AD default authentication. If you want to utilize the OpenDocument URL for iView then you also need to configure OpenDocument.xml file for SSO also. The SAP portal must have trust relation with the SAP BW server so the Windows AD token can be authenticate with SAP BW server.
If you want crystal user to run all the report then you will lose data security. It can be done by hard coding user name and password in the report properties and database logon but the SSO capability can be accomplished only by windows AD, SAP or LDAP.
For more details check BOXI Admin guide and SAP Integration Guide.
    Thanks,
    Muhammad
