Bass Redirection On Audigy LS

hi, i've creative audigy ls (se) sound card, and i can't get bass redirection working on vista ulsimate x64
i'm using SB24_VTDRV_LB__04_0077.exe as driver, i also tried this this http://forums.creative.com/showthrea...scending&page= but it says "the creative audio driver is not installed"
so, they are both no use
woofer works perfect at windows speaker test
how can i get it working
any suggestions would be kindly appreciated,
thanks

For Vista x64 you can try several alternate upmixing algorithms, these can be used as Creative's CMMS-2-3D/Bass Redirection replacements. To get multichannel sound and bass redirection for your subwoofer from stereo sources in Windows Vista, you need an upmixing (aka 2.0-5. matrix) algorithm for example SRS CircleSurround II for Windows Media Player (for both music and movies), or AC3Filter for any DirectShow based video player (for movies), or Channel Mixer for foobar2000 (music only), or ATSurround for Winamp (for music), or you can use jetAudio, it contains an integrated upmixing feature, which can be used for music and movie playback too.
Or you can use your speaker's inbuilt upmixing feature (use the stereo inputs for stereo sources, and 5. for multichannel - most modern 5. speaker sets are capable to use their 2.0 and 5. inputs simultaneously).
Or you can switch to Vista x86 / XP.
Or you can wait for an updated Vista x64 driver set (you can try post your driver issue at Creatibe Labs: Connect site to speed up things).

  • How to get bass redirection/Vista Ultimate x64/Audigy 2

This is how I got 2. sound working again (no CMSS "double"-stereo so far, which would be 4., but at least it sounds right now) on Vista x64 and an Audigy 2 ZS.
First of all, get rid of anything creative driver related (in my case, the January Beta), reboot. It should not know both the Gameport and the Soundcard. Then, run the installer with the "No driver for the Gameport found" window open. Install the Audio Console, don't reboot yet, open the Gameport window, say "look for a driver online etc." which should result in some "This inf is for Win98 and up" error. Ok, reboot. The Gameport will not work, no matter what you do ...
Go to the Audioconsole, select 5., insert your original Audigy 2ZS driver CD. Open "Audio\SpkSet", right-click the "setup.exe" and select run in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2. Then, right-click and "Run as administrator". Should take looong (a few minutes), but it installs the Speaker Settings. You can run them from Start Menu->Creative->Speaker Settings, enable bass redirection, done. Didn't work with the beta drivers here because the speaker setting installer complained about no matching hardware found.
Note, the drivers are still WDM based (i.e., actually XP x64 drivers) and not UAA based, so the XP software finds the same hooks. Curious when a /real/ Vista driver will appear (i.e., not WDM based). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Driver_Model & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uni'versal_Audio_Architecture
Sound quality is a bit lower than on XP (it sounds as if the amplifier has some problems, when I have some bass the rest becomes quieter, which didn't happen on XP, and I have the feeling there is some high-frequency noise floating around ... couldn't equalize it yet), but I have no hickups or scratches.Message Edited by Audigy2ZSUser on 03-0-20070:5 AM

And exactly why don't you simplay use the audio console 2.40.09 which works perfectly with bass redir on vista32 and 64?

  • Bass Redirection on an Audigy SE in Vi

Either I'm just being paranoid of wanting my bass working as good as it should or there is something not right with the Audigy SE and Vista.
Everything else is fine for sure except with the bass. I've tried the registry mod for the enhancements tab on the following link:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=24583
Makes it sound great but one problem I have with it is that the only format options that can be selected after using that modification with the registry are in 48khz and there are no 96khz options available like there should be.
The "Audio Center" program found on these forums do not seem to do anything with bass redirection other than make it worse with the current drivers. Also the Audio Console that is combined with the drivers would be great if it had a Bass Management section in them.
Just wanted to ask on these forums seeing as I'm not sure if I'm just not doing something right or just an issue thats been floating around.

"Makes it sound great but one problem I have with it is that the only format options that can be selected after using that modification with the registry are in 48khz and there are no 96khz option available like there should be"?did you ever notice any real sound improvement by selecting 96000 Hz? I would be really surprised...

  • Audigy 2 ZS - Bass redirection

    Hi!
I just purchased the Medusa 5. headset but have read something about needing Bass redirection in order to get the bass working properly on them I'm running Vista SP with the Audigy 2 ZS with the web drivers from Creative. Obviously this function is nowhere to be found like everything else that's missing because there's no official software from Creative, but do the drivers fix this problem (as I read these problems were when Vista was first released) or is there some kinda registry tweak or something I can do to fix the problem *if* it exists as I haven't recieved them yet.
(And no, installing the unofficial software is a no-go for me I'm afraid)
    Thanks for any help! =)

I still have bass redirection for my Audigy Value-strange why you can't get it on the 2 ZS.

  • Audigy SE no subwoofer and no center - no bass redirection

    Hello,
I run an Audigy SE soundcard on Windows 7. The problems is: I can't hear the subwoofer and the center.
Of course I downloaded the latest driver for Win7.
The customer support says that I should activate bass redirection in the software. But there's no checkbox called "activate bass redirection" in my software! Maybe it's included on the driver cd in the box, but I can't install it without getting a Bluescreen. (I think the bluescreen is because of less compatibility to Win7; the drivers on the cd are made for WinXP)
I'm desperate... May anyone help me?
    MerlinW

    > The problem was solved. I'm so HAPPY!!!
I'm updated Win 7. In the right side was found Creative control centre with bass direction & others settings. After that I'm instolled?driver SB24_PCDRV_LB__04_0090 and changed internal sound on Creative.
The sound working properly at this moment. It's cool.

  • Audigy 2 ZS, Vista x64: Finally got bass redirection working!

=Audigy 2 ZS, Vista x64: Finally got bass redirection working!B Hey guys,
I have hooked a Teufel Concept G to my Audigy 2 ZS. The Speakers do not have internal cross mix, so unless the sound card provides a bass signal there will be NO bass at all. This has not been a problem under linux, since it automatically configures the sound card to send out bass, but very frustrating in Windows Vista x64. GTA4 is no fun without bass ;-)
After endless searching and messing with different drivers (breaking the whole vista sound system) I coincidently got bass redirection (and CMSS2 apparently) working today.
These are the steps I took:
. Fresh install of Windows Vista x64
    2. Installation of Audigy 2 drivers provided by WindowsUpdate, did not download from Creative Labs
    3. Use an old CtPanel-App which actually could activate bass redirection and CMSS2?
    I uploaded the App:?
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L6J0ZJVA
If you start the App it will take ages until it pops up, but then it works just fine. Feedback appreciated!
    regards
    Tiedemate?

I also have the same problem, sound stop working after getting SP2, I updated vista to SP2 because I want to update to windows 7, with win 7 I have try all the drivers without success I still have no sound and with some drivers I get a blue screen. After 2 restarts windows 7 ask me to fix the problem with restore and vola everything works ok but no sound.

  • SoundBlaster Audigy RX/5 Bass Redirection

    Hi everyone,
i have buy the soundblaster audigy rx/5 and after i installed the driver i cant find any option to activated bass redirection. I wondered about because every onboard soundcard i ever had has this option.
So exists any way to enable bass redirection for example an alternate driver like the one for audigy 2 and 4 on this forum?

    Hi,
Unfortunately the Sound Blaster Audigy RX does not support bass redirection.
I found this site with more information on bass redirection and a download link here.
I've not tested this filter, so I cannot tell you if it will work to your requirement.
Use at your discretion and risk.

  • Fix for Bass Redirection issue in sig

    Hi everybody,
I have just ordered a Teufel Concept E 5. Speaker System. For that reason I'm now also dealing with the purchse of a 5. sound card. At first my favourite was the Audigy 2 ZS, but now I'm hesitating because I've read on several forums that the Teufel System also suffers from the Audigy series' malfunctioning driver-implemented Bass Redirection (an issue firstly reported 3 years ago, January 2002!!!) when it comes to upmix a stereo source to 5..
Just to remember: If Bass Redirection is unchecked in the drivers, the whole frequency spectrum of the stereo source will be directly sent to the front left/right channels (and no other channels), and the connected speaker system will have to split the frequency bands and feed its subwoofer with low-pass signals and the sats with high-pass signals (For example this is the case with Creative's own speaker systems which have internal crossovers). But most non-Creative 5. Systems don't have this internal functionality of mixing a stereo input up to subwoofer and sats. For such systems Creative implemented the "Bass Redirection" in their drivers: sub frequencies of the stereo source are low-pass filtered and sent to the discrete subwoofer output of the sound card. The issue is that this signal from the subwoofer output is too weak, forcing users to find workarounds to get bass when they're listening to stereo sources (such as Music in Winamp).
This issue, although known for 3 (three!!!) years now, has not yet been fixed by Creative. In late November 2004, Cat has replied to the Monster thread dealing with this issue on the old forums (http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/forums/thread.asp?thre=396&foru=5&page=34) (scroll down), promising to forward the issue to the driver dev team, but since that day nothing has happened anymore.
My question to the mods: is there a chance that this driver issue will be fixed in the near future? Otherwise I'll have to reconsider my options concerning my sound card purchase.

I have the same thing with this option -and I asking for fix (again....)
I have Audigy 2 ZS OEM, Yamaha RXV-440 Home Cinema Recei'ver and big 5. home cinema speakers. Audigy 2 ZS is connected to Yamaha by 3 analog outputs (connecting it by spdif cause no CMSS stereo to surround upmix and only stereo sound for all none DD/DTS sound sources like MP3, games, mpg/DivX/XviD films...thats why I must connect them by annalog outputs/inputs).
When I disable bass redirection then speakers have full frequency response (20Hz - 20kHz) but there is no any signal on sub output (when I play stereo sound with CMSS Stereo Surround enabled).
When I enable bass redirection and set cutoff frequency to 70Hz then there is signal on analog sub out but speakers have bass cutted off (20Hz - 70Hz) and playing only frequencies from 70Hz to 20kHz
This option causing waste of basse from speakers (they have beatyful basse but no with this drivers).
Even when bass redirection is enabled, signal from sub output is very weak - I don't have so high sub volume regulation to turn it sound loud enough
I have this problems on SB Li've, I have this problem on Audigy 2 ZS and this problem still exist on Audigy 4 !!! (I'am using now modded Audigy 4 drivers to work on all Audigy series but there is the same problem as in orginal A2 ZS drivers).
I'am requesting only 2 fixes in drivers that is satisfy me completly (not only me - many people have the same problem):
. Add an option that will disable bass cutting from speakers when bass redirection is enabled or make bass redirection working only for subwoofer without any speakers frequency cutting.
    2. Make signal from analog sub out louder because this volume level is not acceptable !!!
    Please...
This problems causing that I starting to think about some other sound card from other producent...because that can't be Message Edited by FPPfan on 02-0-2005 08:52 PM

  • Whats Bass redirecti

I have read a few post on this and have no idea what it is and what it does. I have the option but I leave it untick.
I am still kinda new to AUDIGY cards and with my job a contract techie I need to know these things.
I thought of doing a google but hey, this is what these boards are for
Can some explain to me what it is and what it does. Just a simple cut down explanation will be much apprecitated.
    Thank you for you time

Yes bass redirection does just that. When a a mono, or stereo source, or even your multichannel game is being played, this will send the bass directly to the subwoofer.
You should bear in mind however, that most modern computer speaker systems, that have a x. configuration already do that in their circuity. That's why you still hear bass without having a cable for it on a 2. speaker system. It extracts this information from the rest of the channels.
So if your speaker system already has that, enabling this option will have no effect. Because if you set it for example to work at 80Hz and your speaker system is woring at 20 Hz crossover frequency, then your speaker system will redirect all remaining sounds between 80Hz-20Hz.
Also note that the Audigy has a problem in that the LFE output is too low. So enabling bass redirection may in fact lower your bass's volume.

  • Bass Redirection doesnt work prope

    Hi!
I got audigy 2 zs. Installed are all new driver. But . I set it to 20HZ. Now when I play a 50HZ sound, my subwoofer will play it. wheres the problem?

But thats no real bass redirection, thats toy stuff. Every A/V Recei'ver cuts it off at the freqeuncy u set it. Additional, setting bass redirection to 80HZ and playing 250HZ, it will be redirected.

  • Bass Redirect in Vista x64 w/ XI-FI 2.13.0

    Hi everyone,
My apologies if this question has already been answered (and often,) but I couldn't find it while searching.
Anyway, on my old PC with Windows XP (and then Vista) 32 bit, I was able to use my X-Fi's bass redirect function to spread out the bass over my front speakers. I've since moved my soundcard to a new PC featuring Windows Vista x64, and I can no longer find this feature.
Does anyone know if the latest Vista drivers (2.3.002) support bass redirect, and if so, how I might locate the feature?
My card is a Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Edition. Btw, I thankfully haven't experienced any other problems with the card / driver / OS combination. The card sits in an nForce 680i moBo and is situated in the lone PCI slot between the two PCI-E x6 slots.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

Hmm.. Very interesting. I'm downloading now (hopefully it will be finished by the time I arri've home from work -- it's a very sllllloooow download at 20 Kpbs.) Btw, does anyone know if this works on Vista x64 as well?
    Mark.

  • Windows 7 64 bit and X-Fi XtremeGamer - Bass Redirection Not Working (No Subwoofer)

SWindows 7 64 bit and X-Fi XtremeGamer - Bass Redirection Not Working (No Subwoofer)% Greetings,
Today I ugraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition and am having a problem with my 5. surround sound that previously worked perfectly in Windows Vista Ultimate.
I am using an X-Fi XtremeGamer PCIe card and the problem is that I have full working surround sound, but the bass/ subwoofer isn't working.
Previously in Vista I enabled bass redirection in the Creative Console and this would make the subwoofer work. In Windows 7 in the console there is a bass redirection option but it doesn't work. Also in the Creative Audio Control panel there is NO option for bass redirection either.
Audio sounds tinny and I am 99.9% everything is set up correctley, I think this is a driver problem. At this moment I'm unsure if this issue plagues both the 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows 7 or just the 64bit version (since the console launcher is 32bit).
Anyone had a similar problem and cracked it's Apart from this small glitch Windows 7 is great!
    Thanks!

WRe: Windows 7 64 bit and X-Fi XtremeGamer - Bass Redirection Not Working (No Subwoofer)h heya, I have exactly the same problem.
running 64-bit windows 7, X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card, Trust 5. speakers.
the bass used to work in XP because I could enable bass redirection and alter crossover frequency.
these options are now no longer available in the windows 7 drivers (.4.90) and my bass is not working at all.
it is very annoying, there has been no comment from creative than i can find because it only appears to happen to a small percentage of speakers.
basically if someone from creative can't help fix the problem,?people with this problem?will unfortunately be forced to purchase a different brand of sound card because my speakers certainly aren't broken and work with the on-board sound fine.
so if anyone else has the same problem or any advice on how to fix the problem, please comment.

  • SoundBlaster 5.1 VX and Windows7 Bass redirection

    Hi,
i have a SoundBlaster 5. VX and an analog 5. surround system. My OS is Windows 7 final.
I can't get my subwoofer to work. I set my speakers to 5., tested them and every speaker including the subwoofer works. But when i try to play music in windows media player or any other program i get no bass (already tried the driver that comes with windows and also the driver on the creative page).
I got it to work in (and only in) winamp by installing a plugin. But i do not hope that i have to find and install a plugin for every program that playes media files such as kmplayer, vlcplayer, dvbviewer, and so on.
There HAS to be a way to tell windows in general, that i HAVE a subwoofer, and that it should be used. I googled about the bass redirection and found many other people who have the same problem. There were some solutions, i tried everyone (different drivers, different settings, ...) and nothing worked.
Is there a way to get Windows itself to redirect the bass to the subwoofer? After searching and trying now for 5 hours i really don't know what to do any more. I hope there is a way to fix this ... just don't want to buy another soundcard just because of that!
Thanks for your help in advance!

Re: SoundBlaster 5. VX and Windows7 Bass redirection? "go to control panel and sound and then to speakers, and to configure and do not check or should I say uncheck full size speakers"
did this. what it changed: i don't hear anything on the center speaker now too, only left and right are working.
    in control panel - sound - speakers - properties - i see:
tab general, levels, sound blaster, advanced
but i dont see "tone" anywhere on any of these tabs (i can in/decrease the levels of all of the 6 speakers, but it only has an effect on "left" and "right").
in the "sound blaster" tab i also disabled the sound blaster enhancements, and in settings there i ticked off every option, restarted the sound application (i tried several), ticked them on - and nothing changes.
many thanks for your quick reply!

I'm very sorry I don't know English language well. After installing WinXP SP3 with latest drivers and console launcher from official website, I found that Bass redirection button is missing. Before this I had windows vista and bass redirection button was placed in speaker setup tab, but now it's just gone. And if I'm enabling 2 speakers instead of 5 , bass boost button is also missing! Please help, those options are important to me. my card is Soundblaster X-Fi extreme musicMessage Edited by twiggy206 on -24-2008 02:34 PM

I have the exact same problem.
I just bought the card yesterday. And I thought ok lets see what it can do. I put 5. speakers mode, i enable bass redirection to subwoofer and what i heard was terrible distortion. (I have a stand-alone self-amplified subwoofer). Just to be sure that this wasn't an issue of my subwoofer, i connected the subwoofer output to a normal speaker, the sound was crap, distortion and "garbage" was coming out from the x-fi...
I'm using vista x64, luckily i have windows xp installed and I tested the card there, no problems whatsoever with XP, Bass redirection was working as it should be. So that ruled out a faulty device.
Today I tested it with Vista 32, same distortion here as well.
This situation is awful, cause you cant listen to music and any kind of stereo (2-channel) sound using the subwoofer...
IMHO this is a serious flaw of the Vista 32/x64 driver for this card please look in to it!
    ps.
Few years ago (200 or 2002) I bought the Soundblaster Extigy for about 200 euro (~ $250) and one would imagine for such expensi've and great product creative would at least release drivers for Vista but nooo. This angered my so much that I said I would never buy creative products again. But I thought since X-Fi USB came out I would give creative another shot. So imagine my frustration when again with a brand new soundblaster, it has such unacceptable issues in Vista.
