Batch captioning in bridge

I have been trying to find a way to apply the same file info (keywords, caption, author etc) to all the images in a Bridge stack. Or alternatively any way of doing it in Photoshop. I have done it with actions and batch processing but that means putting each set of images in a separate folder, and sometimes there are only two or three. Stacking them in Bridge is a much better selection method but I cannot find a way to add the same file info to all in the stack.
Or does anyone have any other ideas?

You can just highlight all the photo you want to change and then click File Info and enter the info.
That is one way, you also can create a metadata template and add this to all selected files. But as Curt stated, when highlighting multiple files wether in stack or spread over the folder, you can add all info you want in one go.

No Batch menu in Bridge (Photoshop CS6)

I've installed and reinstalled Photoshop CS6 and but continue to have no Photoshop/Batch menu in Bridge as I did in CS5.
Windows 7. CS6 is an upgrade. I've been living with it as I see a lot of others have the same problem with no answer that I can find.
Is there a solution???

I'm having the reverse problem. CS6 Bridge sees all the stuff under Tools/photoshop:
But CS5 Bridge does not. So looking into it a bit I see the scripts directory here:
c:/Users/harry/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Bridge CS5\Startup Scripts
Is empty.
Preferences/Startup Scripts shows:
[X] Adobe After effects CS5
[X] Adobe Bridge CS5
[X] Adobe Device Central CS5
[X] Adobe Output Module
And there appears to be no way (In that dialog screen) to add any

There is nothing under the directory:
c:/Users/harry/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Bridge CS6\Startup Scripts\
and yet CS6 apparently sees scripts somewhere since it has a fair number of entries at Tools/photoshop, including the Batch image processor.
At at Preferences/Startup Scripts there is an extensive list of scripts listed.
Is there a way to make CS5 bridge See the scirpts for Photoshop CS6? Or at least to send a selected bunch of files to PS CS6 Image processor?

No option to Batch Process in Bridge CS5

Usually in Bridge I would go to Tools> Photoshop> Batch. But instead I am seeing Tools> Process Collections in Photoshop.
Even if I go into photoshop to batch process via Bridge, the option for Bridge is greyed out and I can't select it.
I am on Windows 7, 64 bit.
Please help.

Original pictures deleted after batch rename in Bridge

Hi,
I have just gone through the process of renameing photos in my collection using batch rename in Bridge.
I have just gone into the wastebin on my computer and all my pictures (with the original filenames) are in there?
Is this right? As far as I can tell I have all my photos, with their new file names, its just the original photos that are in the bin.
Can I safely delete all the photos in the watebin?

Collections are a little different that images in folders as they are not images, just an address to find image. I just did a test rename of file in collection it it renamed image, nothing in trash heap.
So can't say why you are seeing what you are seeing. Are you using folders in Bridge, and the folder is not write protected?

I sue the batch feature for my job everyday to batch multiple images with a custom action, I need this feature back ASAP

Adobe CC 2014 newest version completely up to date.

The cleaner tool doesn't touch presets, templates or other user data. All it does is flush the installer database to remove blockages. The last time it actualyl deleted any files and folders was with CS3. so whatever you did, you may have hit the wrong button. And while I underrstand your frustration, the download pages states that you are advised to backup your data, regardless...

Running Batch Actions in Bridge causes PS's Preferences window to open repeatedly

I just upgraded to CC at work, and ever since I've had a problem when I batch run Photoshop Actions from Bridge.
I have some simple Actions set up in PS to do some conversions for large batches of images (convert to RGB, resize, change DPI, etc.). But when I run them from Bridge like I always have, it causes Photoshop to open the Preferences window to the "Units & Rulers" tab. And that, unfortunately, pauses the batch conversion until I close the Preferences window. This happens at least once per file, but usually twice. Pretty annoying.
I never had this problem when I was using CS6, but just in case there was some sort of incompatibility with my old Actions, I remade one of them in CC, but the Preferences window still pops up.
This only happens when I run Batch Actions from Bridge. When I run the Action on a single file from PS, it works fine.
Any ideas? Maybe I've found a new bug?

BTW, I was able to get around this problem by opening all the files I wanted to run the Action on using Bridge, then manually triggering the Batch dialog via Photoshop and using the 'Source: Opened Files' option:
Using this system, I didn't get any errors. Luckily, I also didn't have a huge number of files. If I did, I'd probably have to copy them all into a temp folder using Bridge, then run using 'Source: Folder'. Definitely a pain when they are all right there in Bridge ready to be batched.

Why do dialogs open for javascript actions when started from a batch operation from bridge?

I have a fairly simple script (written in javascript) that duplicates the current document and
does some other manipulations. I also have recorded an action that executes this script.
When I run the action manually, everything works beautifully. When I run the action via
the batch command from bridge, every operation in the script brings up the associated dialog.
I am obviously missing something, but what?

Make sure you have this line at the begining of your script...
app.displayDialogs = DialogModes.NO;

How to add Web Gallery captions in Bridge CS5

I am creating a photo album (web gallery) in Bridge CS5 but there doesn't seem to be a way to add captions to the photos. I don't want the File Names to appear, I want to be able to choose several photos to have captions which I will type in. Is there a way to do this? The web gallery template I am using is Left Filmstrip.

Batch rename in bridge

i am having trouble with batch renaming. it was working fine previously and not sure what happened to cause it not to work. i am using a mac osx 10.6.3/ CS4.
basically when i click on batch rename, it won't let me select "rename in same folder". it also will not highlight MAC OS in the compatibility line. i have restarted the program, computer, and cleared the cache. (same problem when i try to rename in a different folder) any ideas?

I am not familar with the workings of a Mac computer. You would get a better response to post in the Mac Bridge forum.
I suspect you need to reset the preferences which in a PC is press and hold the Ctrl key and click on start icon for Bridge. You will get a reset window with 3 options.

Batch Renaming in Bridge CS6

I take pictures of a swim team and I keyword tag each image with the swimmers name. I would like to batch rename and save in a new folder the files so they have the original filename and then the keyword name. I don't see that as an option in the metadata drop down or any of the other drop downs. Is there a way to do it? I have exported it and included the metadata information and from my PC I can see it in the lower picture data, but I am sharing with a Mac user and it is easiest if the name of the swimmer is in the filename. I have over 1100 pictures and renaming them manually would be too time consuming. Thank you for your input. MB

How to batch resize in Bridge CS6 or Image Processor using height only?

I have batches of images that need to resized based on height only and would like to do so using Bridge/Image Processor. My height requirement is 1140px, however the original images are varied in landscape/portrait orientation and are of different aspect ratios (2:3, 3:4, etc). So far what I have had to do is filter in Bridge just the landscape images then select an aspect ratio, then plug into Image Processor the exact pixel dimensions of the resized images (that I discovered using Photoshop to resize and check the resulting pixel dimension). There has to be a more efficient way.
An example of what I am running into:
Image 1
Original file = 5616 h x 3744 w Portrait orientation
Resized file = 1140 h x 760 w
Image 2
Original file = 3744 h x 5616 w Landscape
Resized file = 1140 h x 1710 w
Image 3
Original file = 4652 h x 3489 w Portrait
Resized file = 1140 h x 855 w
From that example, is there a way I can plug just the height number in Image Processor (or any other Photoshop utility) so I can just batch out a bunch of images all at once?
FYI - I am not interested in buying any new software such as Lightroom to accomplish this task. I would like to remain within Photoshop/Bridge if possible.

You can do what you want with Image Processor without a script. All you have to do is enter the number of pixels you want for the height (1140 pixels in your case) and then enter a number for the width that is wider than any image you will process. Image processor will always resize the images to fit inside this rectangle. That is, the height will always be 1140 and the width will fall where it may. It works like the Fit Image command in Photoshop.

Photoshop cs5 says "Place" is unavailable when I try to batch process from bridge, does anyone know what's going on?

That is a very common error message actions produce when for some reason the document current state does not support the command or feature used in the action step that gets the error. With our seeing a screen capture of the error message and being able to see the document window, the layers palette and the actions palette Its not possible to tell you why the actions is getting that error message. Most likely its because of the document current state. For example place is not valid for a bitmap mode document.

When I run the action using Batch from Bridge CS3, I get prompted with a dialog box at line 2, I have to hit Enter to get past line 3, and have to hit Enter after the last line. Can anyone explain why the behavior would be different depending on where it's called from? How can I modify the javascript to get around this?

How can I export the saved preset settings for Batch Renaming on Bridge?

I've developed a few Batch Renaming presets and want to share them with my team, but couldn't find where they are saved.

I can only provide you with the path for a Mac but Windows should be something similar
User library (By default hidden per OSX7, use menu go with option to reveal)/ Application Support / Adobe / Bridge CSxx / Batch Rename Settings. Inhere are the saved files with the extension '.setting'
