Batch clean up Word HTML

I need to clean up some HTML generated by saving an Excel workbook as a web page. The Dreamweaver command "Clean Up Word HTML" seems to do a good job. The problem is that I've got 80-odd pages to clean. Doing this page-by-page is somewhat laborious, but I can't find any way of doing them all in batch. Does anyone know how this might be possible?

Cs6 dreamweaver - javascript error with Clean up Word HTML . . .

Very recently upgraded to CS6 from CS5.5. Every now and then, I have to run the Clean up Word HTML Commands function for a client. Never had a problem before. This time, I got this message:
While executing onClick in Clean Up Word HTML.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
At line 2012 of the "Macintosh HD:Applications:Adobe Dreamweaver CS6:Configuration:commans:Clean Up Word HTML.js"
The object is not currently contained in a document.
I searched through the Discussions and found refernce to deleting MacFileCache-###.dat file in the Library Configuration folder for Dreamweaver CS 6. Did that, same thing. It also mentioned deleted the entire Configuration folder. Same result.
I called tech support and was directed to go through the (count 'em) 14 steps on the Troubleshoot JavaScript page -- http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshoot-javascript-errors-dreamweaver-cs4.html. Still no luck.
Anyone else out there having this problem? What am I missing? Help!

That could be. Let me know when you have grabbed these. They were Word docs that I saved the same way I always have done (Save As, Format: Web Page (.htm)), creating .htm files that work in CS5.5 Dreamweaver and earlier versions.

Why does executing 'clean up word html' delete my keywords?

When I clean up word html I notice that my keywords are deleted. Any explanation welcome.

Not sure why it does that, but it doesn't really matter since the keywords meta is ignored by all major search engines. If it's a big deal for you, just copy them before the cleanup and then paste them back in....

There is no Clean up Word with HTML.js in my DW CS3

I posted a few days ago about photos breaking and an error message about HTML.js.
Now I find there is NO HTML.js found within my DW CS3.
I tried to RE-INSTALL Dreamweaver from my install disc and it went about 1/4th of the way through and then asked me to put a PS Elements disc in my DVD drive. WEIRD!!!! I don't even have PS Elements. I have the CS3 Design Suite.
SO, now I am stuck. I don't know what to do and why I cannot re-install DW without uninstalling the whole suite.?
I was trying to re-install so as to be able to download any missing element that may have gotten lost in the installation the first time. (JOKE???)
I used to be able to do that with Photoshop when something got lost in a new OS installation.
Anyway, I installed this Suite after purchasing my new computer.
Also, under "SITE", synchronize sitewide stays GREY and I cannot use it. I cannot use COMMANDS, as the HTML.js "error 2 " comes up. I have to click it 5 times to make it disappear from the screen. There are 5 photos on the web page.
Any ideas?

Hmmmm But not sure if it would save in that. I have a big celebration tonight and I need to get back to preparations. I will check back tomorrow and see if I can fix this.
BUT, the issue is, I never saved a word.doc and tried to put it into Dreamweaver, that I know of. So, I was totally surprised at what happened.
R U saying that if there IS a doc and I change it in the DW site files, this issue may go away???

Batch create from Word files

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to use the batch create multiple files command in Acrobat 10.1.3 to create a pdf from multiple word files but when I try to add the files, all Word files are greyed out.
Is it possible to batch create from Word files or is that why they're greyed out?
Appreciate any help.

In the current version of Acrobat on the Macintosh, Word files are not supported. They are supported in the Windows version. It's been this way for a very long time.

Cleaning up the HTML in iWeb

Greetings, Is there a way for me to clean up the HTML in iWeb? I want to clean it up so the " %20 " doesn't show up in the URLs. And will Apple fix this issue in the next release/version of iWeb, does anybody know?

No problem, you can do it right in iweb. Change the page names in the site organizer so they have no spaces. Republish and your all set.

Clean pdf to html conversion

I am searching for a clean conversion from pdf to html or xml. I know that there are many solutions, which follow the way of keeping the positions and layouts of several contents. But I am searching for a conversion tool, which converts into clean html without css or into xml. Existing products create a mess of thousand div-tags and span-tags, but you cannot differentiate between a header and a table.
Example (what I need):
<h1>This is a header 1</h1>
<p>This is text</p>
<img src="..... />
<h2> This is header 2 </h2>
<table>.....This is a table ....... </table>
Existing solutions:

<div style="position:.....">Text</div>

Is there any product, which can do that? (batch conversion on servers (e.g. JAVA))

Given that CSS is part of HTML - I don't see why that would be an issue.

Batch printing MS Word attachments from Mail

As background info: I'm a recruiter, I subscribe to many different avenues for getting new resumes. When they come in via email services or job ads or my website I don't always get around to printing and saving each individual attached resume (99% of the time in MS Word) - so as a temporary holding solution they'll go into a specific email folder that I've created for different geographies - ie I have one folder for "new england" - there may be 50 emails in there at one time.
I can go to the folder on as-needed basis and search subjects for appropriate candidates, however, what I'd really like to do is print out all of the MS Word documents in the folders so I can then do the data entry part into my File Maker Pro (name, background keywords, geography) - so when I have a job to fill everybody is in my database. That's going to be tedious enough since I'm so far behind.
My knowledge of automater and scripts is ZERO, this is one part of the Mac experience that I haven't used much, I've tried and never really had much success.
I've tried in the past and it seems the only way to get them to print is to have to actually open them and hit the print button.
I was looking for a solution about a year ago and never did come up with one, I'm hoping that there is something new out there or somebody sees this and can help. Most of the answers I saw on there were from 09 and earlier.

This looks like a Launch Services issue. The following article describes how to manually reset Launch Services. The notes at the bottom of the article also provide information about the side effects of deleting each of the files involved.

It seems that the most appropriate utility for solving this particular problem is Tiger Cache Cleaner.
In addition to the utilities mentioned above, you may also consider OnyX, which is free. If you want to try OnyX, after installing it, do this (be sure to read the articles about the side effects of cache cleaning first):
1. Quit all applications.
2. Launch OnyX and enter your administrator password.
3. Click Maintenance. In the Reset section, check LaunchServices database.
4. You may uncheck any other pre-checked options if you've already done them using other utilities.
5. Click the Execute button.
6. Restart.
If that doesn't solve the problem, you may try again checking the Links between documents and applications option in step 3 instead.
And yet another free cache cleaning utility is Cache Out X.
Please, let me know whether you were able to solve the problem, what worked for you and what didn't.

Batch clean up LP recording

I've used Syntrilium and Audition for its great sound cleaning abilities, but have been stymied by its inability to create batch process for anything but the most simple tasks. I have even tried to use other automation apps such as MacroScheduler to control Autition, to no avail. I'm considering upgrading to CS5.5. on the hope that the new batch processing feature can help.
Has anyone had much success with this? Can it automate any feature of Audition/CS5.5, or just a few select ones like in Audition 3? I need to be able to configure it for a selection of files to load each one, and apply a specific set of noise cleaning processes
Any help is much appreciated. Audition 3 does a great job of cleaning sound files from old LPS, audio tapes and VHS tapes, but it's very labor intensive. Being able to automate these tasks would help me a lot.

(PLEASE HELP)Can Acrobat X pro do a Batch Conversion to Word? (multiple file conversion)

I am trying to convert multiple PDF files to word using Acrobat X Pro and I am not sure if it is capable of doing this process. I have tried doing one file and it works great even on files that have colums and tables but I cant figure out how to convert alot of them at once. Do I need to buy a thrid party software to achieve this task? PLEASE HELP ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY

Use the Action Wizard (in the Tools pane) to create a new Action.
In the Edit Action dialog, on the right side, there are three panes.
Look to the third (bottom) pane (for "Save To").
At the far right of the "Save to:" line is an icon - click it to open a configuration dialog.
The configuration dialog (Output Options) has a selection at the botto - "Export File(s) to Alternate Format".
Tick this selection and use the drop-down menu for "Export to:" to select the format.
Amoung others you have RTF, Text, Word 97-2003, and Word Document (i.e., *.docx).
Similarly, use the "Start with" configuration tool to select supported file formats for batch processing to PDF via an Action.

Java word HTML microsoft com question

Hi:
I am very new to Java and I don't need to you write any code for me, so please don't flame me :D
I am in the process of planning a utility that will convert/assemble Microsoft Word Docs into HTMLs and then build search/sort/etc functionalities on the HTMLs.
My question: I guess this can be done in Java via COM bridge in Windows. Is it the same on Macintosh/Apple platform? Do Apple even have a COM interface as well that a Java program can utilize? If not and I am limited to the Windows platform, I might not even need use Java at all.
Any other suggestions toward this idea is greatly appreciated. I got it to work with Perl and some freeware utlity that convets Word->Txt, and I then generate HTML from Txt with my links and stuff. I just want to make it more user friendly by providing some kind of interface/configurations.

I have not used it, but you might look into POI to parse the word docs, then you can output whatever you want - you might look into ECS to generate the HTML.

Hey,
I know how to convert one, what about if I have many word files,and any way to convert
all doc and docx files (don't know the names) from one folder and transfer them to the other folder as a PDF format. One doc = one PDF and so on?

Save Iview as excel/word/html

Is there a neat way of exporting an iview to xls/doc/html format? It could be server side too.
So far I have explored possibilities with javascript (
shellExec
command) but this seems to work for IE only. Also when I do a SaveAs for the iview the saved file has a warning message that says 'Iview content expired....etc'.
Saving it as HTML doesnt work and it give all sorts of javascript object no defined errors.
How do I save the iview ( prefreably the same way as it looks in the browser ) to a file with the data entered.

You could do all of this through java. You should use HSSF apis which is part of open source POI project. It is very easy to use. For more documentation and to download the jar , go to http://jakarta.apache.org
I am also planning to write a weblog on how to use HSSF api to create an excel. If you can wait couple more days, you will have a pretty good source code.

Is there a 'macro' to convert a Word style to CSS tag?

The text in my source (Word) has a named character style applied to selected words/phrases throughout the text. I want to detect that specific character-style spec. in the source (pasted from Word into a DW target page) and have a way to translate what was a Word style-spec. into a specific CSS style for that same piece of text in the HTML.
For example, say the Word style is a character style named "boldBlue" (which, when applied to the text, makes it appear in ... bold and blue). In CSS, I have a style named "BB" -- I want the HTML to have the same text tagged correctly using the CSS spec. for "bold blue" (BB), without needing to assign that CSS tag over and over and over to each case.
Is there some 'macro' (or 'batch') way to accomplish this in CS6?

Honestly, the best thing you can do is strip out all Word generated code. Word is a horribly writer of html and css and will increase the headache factor of your project by an order of magnitude. DW has a feature built into it specifically to strip out all Word generated gibberish simply because it is so terrible...

To change code from something like class="BoldBlue" to class="BB", you can open the page in source view and use the Find & Replace feature to replace all instances of BoldBlue with BB.
Ctrl + F or Edit > Find and Replace
When the dialogue window pops up, choose Current Document and Source Code from the drop downs. Put the exact text, spaces and all into the Find field and the new info in the Replace, then click Replace All.

Photos Break in DW3 - HTML Java script Errors in HELP

I just opened DWCS3 for the first time since I purchased the Suite last year.
Before this,I was using the Dreamweaver from right before Adobe took over the company, in my G-4 MAC Powerbook and Tiger 10.4.8.
I created a website in that program.
Now I have a MacBook Pro, using Leopard 10.5.7 and DWCS3.
All my files were transferred to this new computer as they were on my Powerbook.
Today, I tried to open my website in DW3 and encountered the following problems:
1) None of the images appeared. Instead, I got "broken" icons in their place.
2) When I went into "HELP" I got this message: The following JavaScript error(s) occured: Unable to open script file: Macintosh HD: Applications: Adobe Dreamweaver CS3: Configuration: Commands: Clean Up Word HTML.js" (error 2 ).
#2 - what does this means.
#1 - can anyone tell me why the images are broken and won't open?
I am not so knowledgable in this program. I can do basics. I don't know what the problems are.
I don't know troubleshooting that well.
Can someone help me with this??

First, although the names might seem confusing, Dreamweaver CS3 is NOT DW3. DW3 was released about ten years ago, and is very much out of date. DW CS3 is the version released in 2007. Please use the correct version name. Otherwise, your questions are likely to be ignored.
As for why you get broken image icons, the answer probably lies in the way you have defined the site in Dreamweaver. Press F1 and read the Help pages about setting up a site in Dreamweaver.
As for the JavaScript errors, did you check the Dreamweaver FAQ before posting here? It contains an item, JavaScript and other unexpected errors, that answers your question.
