Batch Color Correction Change

What is the best method for changing a whole roll of photos that need color correction? I have iPhoto 6 and Photoshop CS. Would there be a way to make those changes in Photoshop, and than reimport those changes back into iPhoto to replace the noncorrected photos? Im not very effcient at photoshop so step by step would help the best. Or other suggestons or applications that will do the trick quickly and easily are welcome too...
Thanks In Advance,
Hintzer

Hintzer:
You can batch change 4 photos at a time in iPhoto with PSC2 and not have to reimport. I can't help you with batch processing with PSC2 as I've never done it. But if you work out a workflow you can open 4 photos at a time using PS as the preferred editor in iPhoto.
Outside of iPhoto you could do as many as you'd want with PS. If you do batch correct the original files in iPhoto's Originals sub folders and then replace them with the corrected version you'll have to do a library rebuild and rebuild the thumbnails in order to see the changes reflected in the thumbnails. The changes will show in the full sized image in iPhoto without the rebuild.
What color corrections are you finding you need to do?

  • Color correction change across all clips?

I know how to make a color correction to my first clip, then I can copy and paste it onto all the other clips. However, what if I want to change the color correction later on? I have to delete all the color corrected clips, and then make a new correction and re-paste. Then if I want to do it all again, same hassle. This can be very bad when working with hundreds of clips on the timeline.
I wonder if I can set up a color correction profile and then send the clip to that profile. Then I can change the profile and each clip will follow that.
    Thanks,
    MrD

    Two observations...
    1.  You don't have to delete the clips to change the CC.  You simply modify settings in the effects panel.
    2. Provided that you want to apply the same CC to all the clips in (say) Timeline One - nest Timeline One inside Timeline Two and apply CC to it.  In this way you only have to apply one CC instance..

  • Batch color correct?

I have applied color correction filter to a timeline of clips (55). Now I want to go in and adjust the whites on all of them slightly. Is there a way to batch color adjust them?

First, load up an already existing CC filter into your viewer.
Then use the track tool to select all of the video clips in your sequence, then press Command Option V to Remove Attributes. Use that function to remove any existing filters. Make any necessary adjustments to your CC filter in the viewer, then with all of the clips still selected in your sequence, drag the modified filter down from the viewer.

  • Color Correction changes when Canvas is re-sized?

I have an Apple Cinema Display 22 inch (pre-HD model) and am working with some DVCPRO-HD footage that has been turned black and white using the 3-way CC filter. We wanted to do a quick pass on it and get the contrast as consistent as possible before we spend the money going in somewhere with an HD CRT (hopefully) for the final 'contrast tweaks'. My question is this: When the project is arranged in a 'Color Correction' layout, the 'Excess Luma' range check gives us a green check mark on certian clips; however when the canvas is stretched and re-sized to give us a bigger viewing area, we get an 'exclamation point' on the same clips -- even though the dots still look the same (good) in our waveform monitor. Why does re-sizing the canvas -- making it bigger -- violate the range check? That shouldn't bel. Should we just ignore it, and pay attention to the waveform monitor?

My guess is that when you expand the window, you reveal ALL of the pixels or something, and if the image is at 100%, you should be able to rely on the range checking tool report.

  • Batch Color Correction and Batch Levels oddities...help!

So I have an action that I've been using for the past couple years (?) now that involves opening an image, applying an auto color and auto levels, saving and closing. This has been working for me since probably a couple years ago when I made the action. Yesterday, I was working on a scanning project where I have groups of images in separate folders. I ran the action on the first 2 folders which went fine. When I got to the 3rd folder all the way up to the last one, PS just loads all the images, does the levels and color then fails to save/close them when done. On one of my folders, it gets through a few of them when it drops the ball and just opens all of them. I'm not sure what's going on as there's no real explanation as to why this is happening...especially when I've been using this action (and I even made a new action with still no luck). This is becoming a huge headache. Any feedback/help would be greatly appreciated...especially when last week I had about 300 images I had to work with and PS decided to pull this move on me after doing the first 30 of them fine...which is when I first noticed this happening.
To further add, I set my action to show everything step by step and it seems to happen with select images (in some cases, these select images are entirely what is in the folder). With the select images, it is not doing the actions entirely in order. Typically it does it in this manner:
    1-Levels
    2-Levels
    3-Save
    4-Close
What I'm now experiencing is this:
    2-Levels
    1-Levels
(Skips 3 and 4 since it is starting at 2 and working upward). Hopefully you understand what I'm talking about!

They're all JPEG, all coming from the same source (Images coming off of a Kodak PS410 scanner). I've also checked to see if they're 'read only' but they aren't. Odd thing is, I've taken this same set of photos to another computer and ran the same action and everything ran fine. As far as memory goes, I don't think that should be an issue as I'm set up with 16gb of RAM. And as far as what I was recently working on, these folders had probably 40 images max in them.
I'll be running another batch on another set of images (coming from a different source) today and see what happens, if anything.

  • Color Correction wanishes

    Hi.
I have a strange problem with my latest project regarding color correction changes. All of a sudden i can not make perminant changes in the color section, I use to but not any more. The old changes are in place, but if I make some new ones, the can be seen and the stay in place until i quit the app.  When i restart the app, they are gone.
Everything renders fine, i can export the video with the changes as long as I dont restart the application.

    Update.
It seems that the fix was to consolidate the whole event. I deleted all render files, copied the whole event and did a consolidation of everything. It looks like it is working again.

  • FCE not exporting color corrections (help please)

I see there are some really experienced Final Cut folks here. Anyone care to help with this glitch?
I've imported AVCHD footage from a Canon Vixia in 1920x1080. I edit it in Final Cut Express. I add Color Correction and Brightness / Contrast Filters. Then I export it as regular Quicktime (no compression). For some reason the brightness changes get exported but the color correction changes do not. I have tried rendering the footage before export. No change. It only exports brightness edits.
    How can I fix this?
    thank you for your help!

Hi and welcome to the forum!
What are your sequence settings? Are you seeing the color changes in your canvas before export?

  • Color correction batch process

I have a set of about 2400 images taken by a Nikon D700 from a stationary position of a stationary subject over the course of a few days with different lighting and color conditions.  I need all of the images to match so that I can load them into a program to create a 3-D model of the object (essentially by stacking the images).  So far all attempts to adjust the color have failed to produce a uniform set.  Any suggestions for how I can go about accomplishing this task?

I probably should have given a little more information about what I'm trying to do here.  The images were taken in RAW format.  The change in lighting conditions is not only due to the changing sunlight, although that plays a role.  The real problem is that there were different light sources throughout the procedure with different spectra so the color profiles of each image (or more accurately of blocks of pictures within the set) are different. I've tried setting the white balance to the same level for each image, running batch auto-tone, auto-color, and color match to a reference image, but there are still noticeable changes between blocks of images in the set.  I think the problem is that the auto-tone and auto-level processes normalize each image to itself but don't take the whole set into account.  When using color match to a reference image the results are a little better but different parts of the subject of the image seem to reflect different kinds of light in different ways so even if I use a selection from one part of the image to be adjusted the rest of the image still looks different between blocks of images.
After looking into some of the theory behind what needs to be done here it seems that I need to find reference colors that are present in each image but that are as statistically independent from each other as possible.  Then, I need to pick a reference image and adjust the levels of the reference colors in the entire image set to match those in the reference image.
I'm not sure if there is a function in photoshop that accomplishes that type of computation, or if there's another approach to color correction, but if anyone knows anything about this type of work any guidance would be much appreciated.

  • Color correction in batch resizing.

Anyone know good method for batch resizing that doesn't mess up color correction? I have a huge textile swatch library that I would like to batch to a resize, but when I batch resize the fabric textures compress or expand creating a tonal shift. Any good work arounds?

Remove Color Cast is relative simple:
    Add the Fast Color Corrector.
Sample an area with the eyedropper from the White Balance' while holding ctrl key down that is supposed to be white.

  • Batch Exporting  Color Corrected Clips, QT issues

    Hello,
I work for a small ad company with a couple guys on the road shooting video, a video editor(me) and a few graphic designers. For company workflow reasons I take video footage from guys on the road and export to Quicktime movies(5-50 per client, 5-10 sec. apiece) and give to graphic designers, they then use After Effects and Motion to lay graphics on and lay out vid for ad.
    1. I generally capture the whole tape.
    2. I select Ins/Outs from that tape and make (lets say) 50 clips in timeline.
    3. I make all clips independant and rename in order 1-50
    4. (THIS IS WHERE PROBLEM STEMS) I color correct all clips using 3 wheel color corrector
    5. I pull all 50 clips (numbered, color corrected) into a client bin
    6. Right Clip bin, Batch export.
    7. Check Use In/ Out , Make Self Contained, Prefix .Mov, Quicktime movie using MPEG 4compressor, best quality, and set destination.
    8. Hit Export
The result is a Quicktime Movie that has sound but is frozen on first frame of video.
Normally this process works perfect and I have no issues with QT. Step 4 is something that I would like to incorporate but everytime I try I get the issues with Quicktime.
Thanks ahead of time for help, hope I gave someone enough to go off of.
    I.V.

If you drag the clips from the timeline to a bin and select them all and choose batch export and set the option to export in to out, it should work.  Not sure about the naming option, but I suspect it'll work.  Do a test first.

  • Is there a way to batch process color corrected RAW files to tif files?

I got over 160 color corrected RAW files from my photographer when I thought I was getting TIf or PSD files. I need to put them into an indesign doc to send out for printing. Is there a way to convert all of these in one fell swoop without messing up the work that has already been done? I didn't allow in my timing to save each one individually since i didn't know I was going to need ot do this. I am really unfamiliar with batch processing, so no idea how to best go about this, or if I even can. Please help. I am working in Photoshop CS6. version 13.06 x 64

An easy way is to open Bridge, select the images then click on Tools/Image processor.  You can then save as jpg, psd, or tiff.
    Hope this helps.

  • Batch processing web pages from jpgs made from color corrected Camera Raw files

I processed and color corrected a set of photos shot in camera raw, then saved as tiffs. Then I set Photoshop to Batch process them into a web slide show. The images turned out looking like the raw files before processing....kind of desaturated, since they were shot on a grey day. So then i re-saved the raw files as jpgs and hypersaturated them to see if that would produce better results, but it did not. They looked almost as grey as the original raw files. I usually add saturation to files that will end up on the web, because ImageReady always seems to desaturate color.
    I'm running Mac OS4.1 and CS2.
    Thanks, Suzanne

    Suzanne,
    Try
converting your images to the sRGB color space before processing and/or saving them for web display. ALWAYS. Remember to use CONVERT to profile not

When I change my work space from editing to color correction CS5.5 crashes.

In my quick search (check me out there), THIS DRIVER appears to be the latest. I would install and test with it. I find it a good idea to do a System Restore Point for before a driver install, and to also keep a few older drivers available, just in case one needs to roll-back.
    Good luck,

  • Color Correction Effect: "Change color to" change more that one color in the same clip(pp Cs4)

Hi all, I have watched and tried some tutorial to achieve this. My question though is how to change more than one color in the same clip. I'm asking because when I tried I had no problem to "color pick" one shade of my (Rock face) and turned it into a natural color picked from a good clip. But I was left with all the other shades to work on and if I repeated the procedure (pick the next destination color to replace) it cancelled my previous change so it seems that I can change only one color... I must be doing something wrong.

Wow! I did play a few other Youtube 3 color correction, but this one is so good and comprehensive. I did also like RGB curves tutorial. I don't know if all this is appropriate for my 1983 VHS clip nearly all green (I probably had the wrong white balance). What I achieved so far is not very good but I think much more watchable than all green! Than You again  for this . I do also realise these guys are expert and still they have to use lot trials and errors and various techniques before getting what they want. I do appreciate their generosity to make some of their knowledge available to all of us.

  • Apply color correction to all footage by changing one color?

    Hello everybody,
I have two versions of the same footage which I want to synchronize and make one video out of them. By masking, I've put one on top of the other and I'm synching the footage, but the colors are slightly different in the bottom one (a bit brighter). I've tried to correct it using several filters, but even though I get some really good results changing the values (I'm using Brightness and Contrast right now, but I've also tried Color Correction, HLS, Hue/Saturation...) they're not as good as I'd like.
In several moments, for example, the sky appears, in both layers at the same time. Is there any way I can make the bottom layer correct the sky color into exactly the one in the top layer, so the changes I make in the HLS of that color apply to all footage? That way the color changes would be perfect.
Maybe this is easy to do, but I'm a beginner at After Effects so I don't really know how to do it. Online tutorials don't seem to help much either.
    Thanks!

I've been using the re:Match plug-in for similar tasks with success. It costs $90 but there is a demo version you can try out:
    http://www.revisionfx.com/products/rematch/
and also a tutorial from Andrew Devin:
    http://library.creativecow.net/devis_andrew/AE_RE-Match/1
You can also match footage in Speedgrade, but I haven't tried that feature yet.
