Batch Color Replacement?

Is there a way to do a batch multiple color replacement?
I have about 5 areas which I'd like to try different color
combinations on...
Can I somehow use the data-driven graphics wizard to output
about 10 files with 10 different color combinations??
If so, how can I accomplish this?

Hi Shommel:
I think.. If you want to replace then only once then you can ceate a console application. If not, I will propose you write some code as
Event Receiver.

  • PE7 Color Replace doesn't work.

In PE7 I have scanned in a line drawing of a lily in black and white.  I want to change the black to a green - 666600.  I did Enhance - Color Replacement- tried different select tools, chosen eyedropper and selected all black lines, changed the replacement color to 666600, and clicked OK.  It is still black and white.  I have tried making a duplicate layer and doing the same thing, and still black line drawing.  What am I doing wrong?  I've referenced 4 books and they all say the same.  Is mine not working?  I can use the select tool and 3Pt  brush and do it that way, but it isn't accurate and could take forever.

See this post for some ideas.

  • The color replacement tool  does not exist in photoshop cs6

    Hi guys!
I have a huge problem with my new photos hope cs6, it doesn`t have a Color replacement tool button, I mean this
    Icon
In addition I searched category under brush tools but it doesn`t exist
Just I have color replacement in
    Image > Adjustment> Replace color
Is it the same with that tool

    Hi,
the color-replacement tool is still there in CS6, "under" the brush-tool in the toolbar of photoshop-CS6.
Reveal it by alt-click on the brush...
did I understand your question right?
If you want a tool-preset of the color-replacement like the other tool-presets in your screenshot,
you choose the tool first and then you can make a new preset for your special color-replacement-tool,
including size of your point etc...

  • Color Replacement Tool & Redeye?

I'm usuing PS CS5 in Windows 7 and I have a picture of a cat with a pupil that is a very pale yellow, parts of it get close to white.  I have seen tutorials for fixing redeye with  the color replacement tool.  Select the proper replacement color (black), as the forground color, mode is color, sample once, limit is discontiguous, tolerance 30%.  Of course redeye is not really not redeye in a cat or a dog.
I click once in the pupil and than paint with the cursor.  The change is extremely small and the color this is painted in looks bluish.  I reaise the tolerance up to 100% and still no improvement.  If I select luminosity for mode, that changes things.  Black is painted in, but it's painted in like the paintbrush tool would.  It doesn't look like a color replacement at all, it looks more like its painted over.
Before you mention fix the redeye by raising the flash, I'll mention I get photos from others to work on.  I'm lucky if the photo looks good at all.
I just went in an experimented with the tool.  The cat has places with dark fur and I clicked once on the dark fur and made the forground color red just to exaggerate the effect.  This is more in line with what I expected and leads me to believe the color replacement tool in color mode, won't replace a very light color.
I clicked on very light fur and red does get painted in, very lightly.  I guess this is good behavior, ps is assuming you want to replace light color with light color and the lighter it gets, the less apparent replacement takes place.
Do I have that right?  I was hoping to find a better way to fix redye in animals other than just painting over.  If the picture is good enough, you will have texture in the pupil and I don't want to lose that.
I did some more experimenting with the luminosity setting.  I'm not thinking the apparent paint over look is a result of the lack of texture or variability in the area I'm using the CRT.

Going back to about CS2, there was a tutorial on correcting the retinal reflection on various "animal eyes." IIRC, the examples broke things down by Canine, Feline and then a few others, with discussions on the differences between those animals' eyes, and those of Primates. I cannot find it now, but it was well-done, and approached the issues from two perspecitves, Photoshop's Tools and then a biological bent.
The differences in the eyes characteristics, required different Tools to address.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - I guess that one could file a feature request for a change in the Red Eye Tool, with presets in a drop-down for Canine, Feline, Primate, Cephalopod, Arachnid, etc.

  • Please help a newbie.  Can not get color replacement to work

    Hello,
Let me start off by saying that I am a newbie to PS in general.  I have been on the software for a short period of time.  I was working with some images and I was making layers trying to bring color out of BW photos (make a BW layer and use the brush to get the color back in certain areas).  I installed RAW 5.3 and now when I make a BW layer I can not make the adjustments on the layer any longer.  I get an error message stating I can not make adjustments to the layer.  But in all the manuals I have it states to make the adjustments on the layer.  I am really confused.  I am looking at my plug ins on PS "homescreen" and there are 2 Camera RAWs (5.3 and 5.0).  I was wondering if I delete 5.0 that may help (how can I do this).  Also, I can make a color picture and remove the color from the main image, but that would just take too long to only bring out the color in a small area.  I am wondering why this process is now "reversed"
Also, is there a setting that may not be right to make the color replacement on the layer that may not be right on my computer.  Again, all this started right after installing RAW 5.3.  I am running an iMac OS X v10.5.7.
I am sorry if I am leaving some information out, but I am a newbie and do not know what other information might be useful.
Thanks for any help, and please let me know if there is additional information that you may need to help me.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Color replacement not working as expected

    Hello -
I'm touching up some artwork and I've tried using both the color replacement tool as well as the color replacement adjustment and neither is giving me the results I would expect.
The image has been indexed and I'm not using anti-alias so it's pretty easy to select the colors I want to change and the ones I want to replace them with.
However, when I try to change the color, it's not replacing it with the exact color that I selected but a lighter version of that color instead.
I created an example to show what I am talking about.
In the example I used the color replacement tool.
First I eyedropped the color I want to put in place of the wrong color.
Then I use the color replacement tool (mode: color, sampeling: once) and click and drag over the wrong color.
Instead of matching the color in the foreground (that I had eyedropped) it replaces it with a lighter version of the foreground color.
I was having the same problem when I was using the replace color adjustment.
Please see the attached file for my example.
I was able to get the effect I was looking for by first using mode: color then switching to mode: luminocity and going over the same area a second time.
It would seem that there should be a way to do it in one pass.
    Any help is appreciated.

That is the way the color replacement tool works, its an old tool.  Color has three parameters, say hue, saturation and lightness (luminosity) as one parameter set. You would need to change all three for the kind of match you are looking for. The color replacement tool lets you change in one click either Hue, or Saturation, or both of these (Color) or Luminosity. In other words ther is no setting for all three. For that you need two applications of the tool.
You should try the color range command on a separate layer with a mask to protect those areas of that color you want to keep and see if that fits your needs.

  • Please Explain CURRENT Color Replacement Tool

Searching the web reveals that there is a lot of bad talk about recent changes to Color Replacement tool compared to previous versions of PSE. And what the PDF help says is next to useless. This tool does **not** do what you intuitively think it would do. It seems to confuse a lot of people.
So, can someone point to me to a place that really expalins the **CURRENT** operation of this tool.

Have a look at the smart brush tool, the one with the gears.
In the drop-down, go to color.
Here I selected green to change the color of the bricks:

  • PE7 Color Replacement Tool: Sampling method is missing in the toolbar

Sample Once or Background Swatch options in Color Replaceent Tool toolbar are missing. In fact I cannot find anything about these options in any other places (menus etc.) except the help file. I am using the tryout version of version 7.0? Is this a bug or is tryout version not a full version?

    Thank you Barbara,
Is it dropped from Elements only or from all other versions (CS4, CS4 Extended) of Photoshop?

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 Win 63 and 32 bit color replacement tool

I opened a B/W jpg file, converted it to CMYK.  I have followed the directions from a few Color Replacement tool Help, etc.  I can't get it to work.  Converting Black to a lighter color, shows up very dark when it works, which is sporadic.  Very frustrating.  Open JPG file, convert to CMYK.  Select CRT, click Foreground color to a light color, select the black with one mouse click.  Drag to change color.  When/if it works color is very dark.  Doesn't work everytime.  Using the Color Mode and Sample Once.  Vista 64-bit with all SP's, CS5 32 and 64 bit, same results.

I'm realyl not sure I understand why you try to use that workflow. A greyscale image is by all means devoid of all color and just contains lightness/luminance information, so there is actually nothing to replace. The times when it happens are probably just random compression artifacts that have a slight color fringe. With b/w imagery, you rather tint regions and that can be done using selections and adjustment tools or a global gradient map adjustment....

  • Need help with color replacement tool ps CS6

I am trying to use the color replacement tool to change the color of a shirt on a picture.  I have choosen white as the foreground color, but when I go to paint it comes out grey.... I tried using colors from the swatch and the same thing is happening.  When I choose a different color say red for example... the color that gets painted is some version of red but not the red that I have chosen.
    What am I missing?

Funny never had to use that tool before. Anyway, what I found play with that tool was the color applied is totally dependent on the luminosity of the color below it. It other words it protects highlights and shadows for example. Which would block it from creating pure white.
To see how this works, the color adjustment layer has an option to preserve luminosity.
But in the end, you will use hue/saturation as it provides greater control. Plus you can clip to a layer or use a mask on it. Can't beat all that non-destructive process going on.

  • Photoshop CS5 Color Replacement Tool Not Replacing White

I am trying to remove some sparkling from hair in an image.  I am attempting to use the Color Replacement Tool.  However, I am not having success, and I don't know why.
The hair is a dark greenish color, which I used the eyedropper to sample as the foreground color.  Although, in practice, it doesn't matter what color I pick.
My understanding is that you set the color you want as the foreground color.  Then, on the color replacement tool, you set the cross hairs on the color you want to have replaced (in this case, the white specks, since I want t turn the white into green).
What happens instead is that the hair changes color, but the white specs remain.
I have tried the different sampling approaches (Continuous, Sampling Once, Swatch), but no effect.  My mode is color, and other modes have made no difference.  Limits are Continuous, and Tolerance has run the gamut from 5% to 90%.
What the heck am I doing wrong?
    Sample attached.
    Thanks,
    Steve

In my opinion Image > Adjustments > Relpace Color and Color Replacement Tool are basically worthless for professional work.
But I wonder if you mix the two up.
And, if I understand correctly, they are intended to change the Color while leaving Luminance unaffected, so they would not seem ti provide your intended results.

  • Color Replacement Tool: foreground colour locked

    I use Photoshop CS on a Mac G4 (PPC), OS X 10.4.11.
I have hit a most peculiar problem. I have used the Color Replacement Tool successfully for some time. Suddenly, the colour that it puts into an image as a replacement for an existing colour has got locked to a pale blue (which happens to be the colour I selected as the foreground colour the last time I used the tool). If I now select a different colour (e.g. dark grey for red-eye repair), that colour appears in the small pair of squares that indicates foreground and background colours, but it is still pale blue that I get when I paint in the relevant part of the image.
These are my settings: brush hardness: 100%, separation: 0, mode: color, sampling: once, limits: discontiguous, tolerance 40% (I have tried everything from 0 to 100%), anti-aliased selected.
On the assumption that the software had become corrupted, I have tried deleting all the preferences and the application itself, re-installing the application and resetting my preferences, but the misbehaviour is still there. What can possibly have happened — or what am I doing wrong that I did not do wrong before? And what can I do about it? I should be most grateful for help, because I am in the middle of editing a considerable number of photos that have to be finshed soon.

You beat me to it! I was about to reply to my own posting: thinking about what might be going on after I posted my cri de coeur, I guessed that something somewhere on my hard disk wasn't connecting with something else, so I have just run DiskWarrior and rebuilt my hard disk directory — and all is OK again. But thank you very much for your helpful suggestion, which I shall try when I get a moment. (BTW, I am also not yet on CS4: I am on CS.)

  • Color replacement tool won't work at all

Hi, I am using photoshop CS3 in 10.6.2. The color replacement tool is not a tool I have much experience with, but am wondering why it won't work at all. I have reset the tool to its default preferences and tried using it on multiple documents and with different users and it just won't work. Nothing happens at all. I have watched some tutorials on using the tool and it looks easy enough and quite straight forward to use. I have tried every setting for the tool and still nothing happens. I am working on the top layer and have not selected anything. I have tried merging all the layers onto one layer incase the tool wasn't working because it would only replace the color of what is on a layer.
    Thanks for your help.

The mode is color. The sampling is continuous and the limits are contiguous. These are the default settings for the tool.
I am noticing that the tool does work a little. I created a new document with 3 layers. The bottom layer is a white background. The middle layer has a blue square on it and the top layer is blank.
I notice that the color replacement tool won't work on the white background layer or the top blank layer, but only works on the middle layer. Does the tool only work on  the same layer that has a color you are trying to replace?
When I hit the command option shift  E keys to merge the layers into a copy, the tool only worked on the part of that layer that had the rectangle drawn on it and ignored the white part of the image.

  • Color replacement tool suddenly not working

I use my color replacement tool to "copy" a color from one clipart image....then use that color to replace a color on another clipart image.  This has always worked for me until yesterday.  This is PS6.
I copy the color (with the color replacement tool)..then when I switch to the other canvas where my 2nd clipart is....the shade changes!  Even if I copy/paste the hex code--it looks different on the two canvasses. The hex number remains the same but the color is very much different.  I normally use the bucket to color the 2nd clipart.
I did notice my swatches changed the other day (many disappeared) so I reset those today after having this trouble to see if that would help.
Please help before I go crazy!! Thank you!

    Yes...it is CS6!
They are both showing working RGB under settings and RGB under mode.
I've never changed color settings unless I'm converting to CMYK and I have not done that here.
