Batch command shuts down program

New install of Photoshop CS5 for Windows on Windows 7 OS.
When I click File | Automate | Batch, I consistently get a "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working" dialogue box. My only option is to click the "Close program" button.
Any suggestions on how to use the Batch command without closing the program?
Thanks,
Bruce

This is an issue that's apparently cropped up because, of all things, latent bugs in TWAIN drivers.  There's another thread around here where
that was figured out.  It sounds wrong at first blush, but Adobe is adamant that it's true.
The only workaround, for now, is to remove the optional Twain_32.8ba plug-in.  You'll lose your "scan into Photoshop" capability, but you'll gain back the ability to run File - Automate - Batch.
If alternate scanner drivers are available for your hardware, you might try downloading/installing them.

DEP shuts down program when i store is entered

Simple, You have a hardware problem that only Apple can fix. So you need to take it back in to an Apple store and have it fixed by Apple. If it is still within it's one year warranty period it will be free.
If you khaven't bought the Apple care Extended Warranty, Applecare, then I suggest you do that before the standard one year warranty runs out. You can't buy it after that one year warranty runs out and to fix any Mac out of warranty is Very Expensive.

  • Have Photoshop 11, When I try to save 1st image the whole program locks up.  Can't even shut down program.

I open a photo, do adjustments and try to save as usual.  Entire program locks up.  Cannot shut down on own.  Windows error box says an element of the program is not working.  Have to shut down using error box.

The editor prefs often get corrupted. You may need to rebuild the editor preferences to resolve any conflicts.
Hold down the Cmd+Opt+Shift keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or go to applications and hold down the three keys whilst double clicking on Photoshop Elements Editor application.
You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
    Click on Yes
Close down Elements and re-open it in the normal way - then wait whilst it rebuilds the preferences.

  • Titler has serious error and shuts down program

I have been using the titler in Premier CS3 and every time I try to make a font change the program says that there is a serious error and must shut down the program. I have never lost any information since the program has been able to recover from the error and save the data. It is a pain since I can't change the font. Does anyone have any ideas how to remedy this.
I have looked on the Adobe site for answers but the site is a nightmare of never ending loops when trying to report a problem.

I have not heard of any nVidia drivers causing problems with fonts, though there were several driver versions, about a year ago, where some gamer-only functions did not work in Adobe programs.
Now, with Titler, this ARTICLE might be helpful.
    Good luck,

  • Automate/batch photoshop shuts down

Using windows xp sp3, CS5, whenever I click on automate/ batch,, I get the message Adobe Photoshop CS5 has encountered a problem and needs to close.
we are sorry for the inconvenience.  What it says is the problem is  AppName; photoshop.exe  AppVer. 12.0.4.0  ModName; photoshop. exe
    ModVer. 12.0.4.0  Offset; 00e9573b..
Does anyone have any idea of why this is happening? And what can I do to fix it. Thank You

There's a known problem with some TWAIN drivers that manifests this way.  Yes, believe it or not.
One workaround is to remove the optional Twain_32.8ba plug-in from Photoshop.  This will, of course, disable your ability to do direct scans from within Photoshop, but many scanners have their own software apps that can help serve as a workaround.

  • Programs shutting down at random!

My imac has become increasingly slower over the past several months. It now will shut down programs at seemingly random times with no warning (Firefox, Safari, Excel, Word, etc.).
Has anyone had problems like this and is there anything I can try to remedy this problem??

    Hello asilverness
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Two things pop into my mind,
first is to Repair Disk Permissions as described in the following article:
    http://kb.wisc.edu/helpdesk/page.php?id=3810#permission
second is a question, how much ram do you have in your iMac?

  • Cannot shut down

I just purchased my imac last week. I am trying to shut down my computer so I can go to sleep.  Everytime I try to shut it down a window pops up and it reads "can not shut down programs are still operating go to finder."  I have no idea how to fix this so I can shut down my mac can you please help me??

There is a big difference between shutting down your iMac which requires that all applications be quit, and sleeping your computer which keeps everything in its current state with the display off and the rest of the circuitry in power saving mode.
Is there a reason you are trying to shut the system down completely instead of putting it to sleep? If you select shutdown and the system is giving you that prompt the system is indicating that there are applications open that have unsaved documents or open dialog boxes that need attention.
Since you indicated that you bought your iMac last week I am assuming that you are running Mac OS X Lion (10.7.x). If you look at the dock screenshot below some of the applications have a glowing dot below their icon. The dots indicate that the application is open. If you selected shutdown and were not successful just click on the icons with the dots and you'll be able to see whether you have an application that needs attention. My personal recommendation is to just put the iMac to sleep so that when you wake up your computer will be ready for your right where you left off simply by pressing a key on the keyboard.

  • Program forced to shut down

I have developed an application with LabWindows\CVI 2012. The program is running on laptop with XP. I am communicating with some devices on GPIB. One of the devices is a Agilent 3458a. On one computer I get a dialog which forces me to shut the program down. It happens intermittently. Sometimes it happens in a hour or two and sometimes the program will run overnite. It happens when I am communicating with the Agilent 3458a. I send it a command to start a current measurement and when I try and read the data it gets a error which says it could not collect the data. I also get a dialog that says:
nrdim_ana_cal.exe (Release X86 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you are in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
For more information about this error. click here.
When I click here I get a bunch of information that looked like the old blue screen of death. It tells me what dlls are running and then has a memory dump.
It also has a Debug button but when I push it I do not get any information from it. The dialog has a CVI logo in the top right-hand corner  which makes me think it is something sent by some LabWindows dll.
Has any one seen anything like this? How can I derive any information from the click here memory dump?
I have an old Dell 610 laptop that never has this problem. The laptop I am having problems is a bit newer; it is a Dell Presario M4300.  We have tried it on other computers that were newer then the Dell 610 and they have similar problems.
Looking for a little help from someone who has had a similar experience or knows something about this program shutdown dialog.
The problem happens so randomly and infrequently it is hard to troubleshoot, any advice is appreciated.
    thanks,
    Don Pearce

Please see all your pointers and other dynamic memory handling.
Also increase program stack from "option -> build option -> maximum stack size" from CVI menu bar as per memory(in bytes) you are using in program and in communication.
    May this will help you.

  • After 10.5.8 update no shut down, Finder, Dock, program folder issues

    Hi all,
I've seen and read similar topics to these issues but as the given tips couldn't help me I open another topic.
Yesterday I installed the 10.5.8 update. Since then I cannot access the Dock, it even doesn't show up, the Finder does not let me access the program folder and my Mac doesn't shut down at all, only by using Contol, Command and Power (sorry, does not know the proper terms in English).
I tried to repair the disk by using Disk Utility from the initial DVD and it did repair a lot of stuff. In the end, it shows "Keys out of order" in red and that my disk could be repaired but one volume couldn't. If I try to repair permissions it doesn't even start saying something of "... inaccessible ...".
After trying this no change in my issues.
    What could I do more?
Thanx for any tips and help
    Steph

You can find the directions here.
Good luck and let us know.
EDIT: Erase the Disk with DU, yes. But don't install the system, if you want to do a full TM restore.

  • All design programs running extremely slow and takes forever to save and sometimes shuts down randomly?

Ok so  I'm a design student at a community college (about to graduate soon and will be continuing on getting my BFA) I have all of the creative cloud suite. I have Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, etc. Recently I started having problems with all of the programs. Whenever I work in the programs they would run extremely slow. Recently, I tried to save a .eps file that was only about 1.2 GB and it took me an hour to save, and this was when I was working off of my computer desktop. When I place the .eps file in Indesign, everything would go blank and it would freeze up. Also I had an error sign popping up from InDesign saying "out of memory". Im not sure if that is related to my computer's hard drive or indesign itself. I just started using creative suite so the creative suite is pretty new to me. Sometimes in Indesign when I do the Command+w to preview the whole project, it would be completely black and showing nothing and I would hit escape and the whole software screws up. Then I would do a force quit on the software and then Indesign would say there was a serious error and must shut down. That error message has been popping up several times now. I also talked to Apple support and they suggested me doing a Repair disk utility (which I am currently doing right now) and also recommended me contacting Adobe since they know their software. I checked software to see if there is any updates that is needed but everything is up to date. I'm not quite sure why its acting like this so I'm reaching out both to Apple and Adobe to see if both can help me solve the problem. If anybody had experienced this problem before and could help me troubleshoot this issue that would be great.

I installed the creative suite about a year ago, and this just started happening last weekend. I didn't think it would be a problem and that it would last for a day since I was working on InDesign all day and Illustrator and it usually goes away after I finish using the programs. But this has been occurring for about a week now and has not gone away. and yes the other programs are running slow. I was trying to resize some images for a client and Photoshop was acting extremely slow  when I was trying to resize the image and also place an image into a 8x10 document in Photoshop. I'm not sure how to find my system specifications.
All design programs running extremely slow and takes forever to save and sometimes shuts down randomly?

  • My MacBookPro is locked up in the mail program. It won't allow me to shut down.  Help!

My new MacBook Pro wont shut down because the mail program cancels the shut down. I try again but nothing happens. The drop down menu doesn't have the quit mail highlighted. What can I do to get out of the mail program. Obviously I'm new to Apple MacBooks.
    Thanks,
    Jack

    Try one of these:
    1. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on Mail's Dock icon. If there is a Force Quit item in the context menu, then choose it.
    2. Press COMMAND-OPTION-ESC to open the task manager. Select the Mail entry, click on the Force Quit option.
    3. Open Activity Monitor in your Utilties folder. Select the Mail entry. Click on the Quit button, then click on the Force Quit button.
