Batch conversion of file format

I need to convert a few hundred photos from TIFF to JPEG. Is there a fast and easy way to do this? Please be specific, since I'm pretty new to Aperture.
Thanks!

Nancy,
if the tiffs are in your Library, all you have to do is select the files and export. If the files are Referenced, the source will have to be online.
When you go to export you will get a dialogue box where you set dimensions, dpi, file type, profile and compression. You can choose an existing preset or add your own to the list.
Cheers,
Terry

  • Batch Changing iPhoto File Formats

    I have scanned a few thousand photos and imported them to my iPhoto library. 90% of them are saved in Photoshop format. Most of these photos have comments, locations, and face IDs, The date has been changed to the date the photo was taken.
    How can I change the file format from Photoshop to JPEG and retain the data that currently exists?

    What settings exactly are you using in the Export window?
    There is no way to write Faces Information to a file. Simply there is no standard for sharing this information yet. The workaround is to use keywords. This is true of all Faces type technology on all systems.
    If your goal is "improved response time and more stable iPhoto Library" then the changing the file format is not what you need to do. I would be looking to other things.
    Can you describe the symptoms you are having?

  • Batch Rename - Two File Formats with Same Name

    Hi everyone!
    I'm having troubles using the batch rename function i Bridge CS5.
    I've got several pictures that I've captured in both jpeg and raw. When importing the pics with windows photo import they get the same name. This means that I've got one JPG and one RAW file which contains the "same" picture, and have same name as shown below:
    What I would like to do is to rename the pictures, but still have Bridge name the same pictures with the same name as shown below:
         IMG_1268.CR2          ->          Picture 2011 - 0001
         IMG_1268.JPG          ->          Picture 2011 - 0001
         IMG_1269.CR2          ->          Picture 2011 - 0002
         IMG_1269.JPG          ->          Picture 2011 - 0002
    Is this even possible? And if possible, how?
    Thanks in advance
    Martin

    Most things are possible and so is this..
    Make sure you do a test first by copying the files to a temp folder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    First copy the script below and paste it into ExtendScript Toolkit (this gets installed with Photoshop)
    #target bridge
    var sels = app.document.selections;
    for(var a in sels){
    var f = decodeURI(sels[a].spec.name);
    var newName = "Picture 2011 - "+ zeroPad((f.match(/\d{4}/)[0]-1267).toString(),4)+ f.match(/\....$/);
    sels[a].spec.rename(newName);
    function zeroPad(n, s) {
       n = n.toString();
       while (n.length < s)  n = '0' + n;
       return n;
    Now open Bridge and select the files you want to rename, then run the above script from ExtendScript Toolkit.

  • Batch file format

    Hi,
    I'm using Final Cut Server to store all videos from the my department. I now want to integrate with a website and iTunes U. Basically, I want to have a website where people could choose a video and select which formats and where they want their video published. This page would then generate a Batch file and submit it to compressor via command line.
    Does anyone knows of any document where I can find that describes the Compressor's Batch file format?
    Thanks,
    Sean Hughes.

    Much appreciated for prompt response. Thank you very much.
    I declared 2 global variables, one for 'Root directory' and another one for 'File name(s)'.
    I've linked the script with WorkFlow.
    In the script, I've inserted below code.
    $Root_Name ='C:\TEMP';
    $File_Name = 'DELTA_FULL*.txt';
    And then created a New file format.
    In File Format Editor, Given location as 'Local', Root directory = $Root_Name, File name(s) = $File_Name'
    Then i set other settings but i couldn't see the table structure and values.
    Could you please guide me.
    Thanks

  • (PLEASE HELP)Can Acrobat X pro do a Batch Conversion to Word? (multiple file conversion)

    I am trying to convert multiple PDF files to word using Acrobat X Pro and I am not sure if it is capable of doing this process. I have tried doing one file and it works great even on files that have colums and tables but I cant figure out how to convert alot of them at once. Do I need to buy a thrid party software to achieve this task? PLEASE HELP ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY

    Use the Action Wizard (in the Tools pane) to create a new Action.
    In the Edit Action dialog, on the right side, there are three panes.
    Look to the third (bottom) pane (for "Save To").
    At the far right of the "Save to:"  line is an icon - click it to open a configuration dialog.
    The configuration dialog (Output Options) has a selection at the botto - "Export File(s) to Alternate Format".
    Tick this selection and use the drop-down menu for "Export to:" to select the format.
    Amoung others you have RTF, Text, Word 97-2003, and Word Document (i.e., *.docx).
    Similarly, use the "Start with" configuration tool to select supported file formats for batch processing to PDF via an Action.
    Tutorials and additional Acrobat X Actions are available at the Acrobat User Community.

  • Batch conversion of MOV files for use in PPro Windows

    I have PPro CS3 on Windows XP (the OS is more relevent to the question than the software version, I think).  I have been buying some inexpensive stock footage, and the HD/SD libraries they have been offering lately come as MOV files with apple-flavored codecs, if you know what I mean.  Fortunately PPro has been able to open everything I have tried so far, but of course they have to be rendered.  And results in player software (for previewing clips) varies by frame size and whether the clip has audio (most don't, but a few do), and not being able to see thumbnails in Windows hampers my speed in selecting clips, especially since the files came named "1.mov", "2.mov", etc. (yeah, I'll eventually rename them to something useful).  So I would like to just convert them all to AVIs with the Microsoft DV codec, so that they will play natively in PPro without rendering.  I know I could use PPro to do the conversion (put them all on a timeline and do Export Movie one at a time), but I was hoping for a batch solution.  I've downloaded and installed a number of free converter programs, but nothing seems to be able to output in the Microsoft DV codec.
    Some of the files are HD (1920x1080), some are SD 16:9 that were reduced from those HD clips, and some are original SD 4:3.  The codec for the HD ones is reported by GSpot to be "Apple Photo JPEG", and the SD ones use something simply called "dvc" or "DV".  Noting the similarity of the name "DV", I did try just telling the conversion program to leave the video stream alone and just change the wrapper from MOV to AVI.  WMP and Windows' thumbnail generator seem to understand the resulting file, but PPro shows colored noise - so much for that idea.
    Any suggestions are welcome!

    For my conversions, I use DigitalMedia Converter 2.7, and it does batch conversion very well. Now for the caveat (you knew one was coming, right?), Deskshare has introduced "new and improved" software, but I have not tried it yet. I do not know how it will handle your footage, so the trial might be in order.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Oracle Retail standard file format for batches - specification needed

    Is there any accurate specification of Oracle Retail standard file format for batches, such as EdiUpcat.pc (possibly with examples)?
    I am trying to produce a file with supplier cost changes for Cost Change Batch (ediupcat.pc).
    In "Operations Guide - Batch Overviews and Designs - Volume 1" I found some brief description, though it is not clear to me
    1) what should I do with empty values (obviously, pad with appropriate number of spaces?)
    2) What if some string value has less characters than specified? Should I left-pad or right-pad?
    3) What does Number(12,4) means? How many characters exactly? 17? Why then values in some fields are multiplied by 10000 (so that to obtain integer value) while in others they go in Number(12,4) notation?

    Hi Roman,
    I am glad to be of help.
    Try to see it like this:
    A number 20 is of char-length 20 in a flatfile, and the value is what it is 1:1.
    A number 12,4 is of char-length 12 in a flatfile, but needs to be divided by 10^4 (10000) to get its real value.
    Indeed there is a funny asymmetry in the documentation how the decimals are handled - but we needed to read carefully already anyhow... :)
    I always like to construct a file by hand in an editor (vi, whatever) and then run it through the program, and check the errors in the error file.
    Good luck and best regards,
    Erik

  • Does Adobe offer an app to perform a batch conversion from Canon CR.2 raw files to TIFF files?

    Trevor.Dennis wrote:
    Note the option to open the first file and apply settings.
    Personally, I'd be nervous of batch processing RAW files because they can need significantly different treatments file to file, but it is doable.  I would assume that Image Processor would allow the XML sidecar files, so you would have the option of looking through and fine tuning any files that were not up to scratch.
    You do not need to use that option.   There are two other options.   If the RAW file has never been process by ACR then ACR would use your defaults for the cameras used no ACR dialog UI will display.  If the RAW file has been process by ACR there are ACR settings either in you ACR database or in your RAW files sidecar files in the same folder as the raw file these will be used.
    I will often use the Bridge to process groups of RAW image files that look like they have similar exposures looking at the thumbnails the bridge displays.  ACR will open for the group of RAW files.  I will process one RAW file and sync the settings to the other image in the group.   I may also  make other ACR setting for some in the group like crops or spot healing for dust that may be in some sykes  because my sensor needed cleaning. When I'm done all I do is click on the DONE button in ACR so it will save out ACR setting for all the raw files in the group.  No image files are saved.   When I use the image processor script I never use the open first RAW option and the Automate Image Processor Pro plug-in script does not have that option open first RAW  in ACR and use the setting set for all other RAW files..

  • Conversion of EDI File format to IDOC format

    We have a file in u201C.ediu201D format. We could not process this file with RSEINB00 ( IDoc inbound processing using file ) program.
    1-) Could we directly do our process with this u201C.ediu201D file ? Or do we have to convert this u201C.ediu201D file to IDOC format?

    If it's EDI format file (Ex: EDIFACT, X12 ...etc), we should convert the file to IDOc file by using mapping in subsystems like Gentran or TLe..etc. Conversion from edi format to idoc format will not be done in SAP.

  • Best file format for 8mm home movie conversion

    Hi there,
    I'm about to get some old 'standard' 8mm home movies from the 60s & 70s converted to DVD as a Christmas gift for my mum.
    The transfer company will also supply the footage as files to view/edit on my mac at a later date. I'm a complete iMovie novice so my question is, which file format should I choose?
    They're offering AVI, MPEG 4, WMV, .MOV or Pro Res files.
    Many thanks in advance for your help...
    Jon Howard
    PS I'm running iMovie '08 (7.1.4) & OS X 10.6.8 on an intel 13" macbook in the UK (PAL area).

    Pro Res in potentially the best, but you would need Final Cut Pro, not iMovie, to edit it.
    It is difficult to advise you without knowing the technology they are using. Are they capturing in High Definition progressive or Standard Definition interlaced?
    I found a US company that would scan the 8MM at 1080P. They provided the files in Motion JPEG format. This proved to work great in iMovie.
    If they are doing Standard Definition, I would say go for DV if they can. MOV is generally good, but MOV is a container, not a codec, so it depends on what is inside it.
    Here is a post where I discussed the results.
    Here is a link to the company that did it. http://www.mymovietransfer.com/
    Here is a sample of the results. Watch in full screen if you can.
