Batch Convert ,mov to ?
Hi all, for those of you that may have been reading my post on losing video previews on here, you will know why I am asking this question.
My problem is this..Any footage I have either stock or homemade in . mov format with an RGB+Alpha will not reload my preview renders. If I convert said files to a png with rgb+a then they are fine. But I do not really want to go down the route of converting to png format for the following reasons.
1. I would prefer a 1 clip = 1 file
2. I dont want to have to add tons more folders in folders
3. Keeps house keeping a lot tidier on my drives.
Many of my clips are in 720p with no audio, but I usually work in 1080p ( should of bought the 2k footage i know, but too late now) However due to the nature of the clips I can get away with upscaling to 1080 and feathering where required.
But I do not want to loose any quality that I have.
So any reccomendations as to the best way to do this to about 1000 clips, while still preserving quality and keeping each clip as a single file rather than a sequence of frames.
I am on a mac with production premium cs5.5.2 and also have cs5 masters collection if needed.
Anything that will do a a conversion and replace the original file would be good, and also must be PP and AE friendly as well as adobe bridge friendly.

that will not work.
a regular DVDplayer asks for s specific file-structure (udf, VIDEO_TS .. ) and 'containers' (vob, bup, ifo) on a disk. it's a common misunderstanding, a videoDVD 'is' mpeg2.
so, the simple encoding to mp2 is just a part of the process.
you need an *authoring tool*, as iDVD, which came pre-installed on your Mac, Toast, etc etc ... -

The QT Pro Player is not, in and of itself, a batch processing application. You can, however, parallel process your files easily enough. Simple open your additional source files and set up your export options for each. As each new export begings, a new progress bar will appear in your export window. If you wish true sequential batch processing, use an application like MPEG Streamclip (free) as your "front end" to access the QT structure for exportation. -
Batch Convert PowerPoint to Movies file name issue
I need to batch convert powerpoint presentations to movie. But the save option forces me to use the same name on every movie. I want it to just save the presentation with the same file name. So if the powerpoint is:
MyPresentation.ppt
then the movie should be
MyPresentation.mov
How can I do this?

Any ideas on how to get the script to work with autmator (I tested a modified version of this script outside autmator and it does work for a single file).

PC Windows XP Pro Mind attachedGood program out there called Visual hub to batch converts most inputs to DV and MOV and other important outputs. there is a free and fee version. it works so well i bought it. i wish i hadnt paid for QT pro since they dont get it in terms of the things everyday people are trying to solve.

Batch convert TODs to MOVs Automator?
Hi guys
Given the local help (Apple resellers) are clueless, I was hoping one of you BRILLIANT FCP users might be able to help me.
The deal is I'm working on a new series and management decided to go tapeless. So they bought a batch of problematic JVC Everio HDD (GZ-70) DV minicams.
They produce .TOD files which of course FCP 6.0 (upgrading to Studio v.2 and allegedly Final Cut Server one day but I have my suspicions this will be delayed interminedly) can't deal with.
So we are converting to QT .MOVs one by one by one by one and it is a drag.
Does anyone have an Automator script to batch convert TODs to MOVs?
I would be so grateful if you could help... We're dying here.

Batch convert Pages files to Doc and stay in the same folder?

I use iWork '09 on Mountain Lion. I recently switched to Microsoft Word and prefer it over Pages (personal preference). However, I have nearly 1000 files on my computer that are in Pages format. I have extensively searched this issue in the Apple Support Communities and it appears that there are scripts that DO EXIST that batch convert Pages files into Word files. However, it appears that many of these scripts were built for older versions of iWork and therefore I run into various errors. For example, I used the script available at http://pagesfaq.blogspot.com/2008/01/export-folder-to-word-rtf-pdf-txt-or.html and click run but nothing actually happens (the script runs for less than a second, then I can click run again). I was able to use one script successfully (pasted below), but the only reason I can't use it is because it saves ALL my converted documents in one folder on my desktop and I would like a script that can save them in the original file were the Pages document is located.
So, is there an iWork '09 compatible script that can convert my Pages documents to Word documents and save them in the same folder as the original? Oh, and for an added bonus, it'd be cool if the script also deleted my Pages version after it was done with the conversion

It depends on what you are feeding Acrobat and how you are feeding Acrobat.
If it's a bunch of HTML files then you can create an Action to convert the contents of a folder.
If it's just URLs then it's a little more complicated. You might need to create a JavaScript to accept all of the URLs individually and then process them in order to the Create PDF from Web Page feature.

CS3 to CS5 Conversion - Is it possible to batch convert?
Hi, the company I'm working for is doing the move to CS5 from CS3 Indesign.
When resaving the old CS3 documents in CS5, instead of just saving over the current file, it's bringing up a 'save as' type of dialog.
As we have literally thousands of documents to rework and they are mostly in different locations, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way we can speed this process up. Is there a setting that will bypass 'save as' in this situation? Maybe a good batch converter we could try?
Help would be much appreciated.

Emile.It's probably scriptable (and I think maybe Peter Kahrel has actually already written a script to do it), but the last thing you want to do is bypass the save as and overwrite the CS3 versions. There are occasional problems with converted files, and if you've destroyed your CS3 versions you'll have no backup position.
In fact, I strongly recommend that you do any of these conversions in two steps. First convert to .inx, then convert those to CS5 for the most trouble-free files after conversion. Personally, I would not convert any files until necessary, but I don't know your workflow. For minor edits you are probably just as well off to leave old files in CS3 and do new projects in CS5 going forward. -
I am organizing my library of stock video footage so is easily view (show to clients) and access. I need advice for two things:
First: What is a good program to catalog footage in? I am considering using iTunes because I already have it and I could setup smart folders to easily organize footage.
Second: I would like to encode all the footage to h.264 so I can preview it in Quicktime and add it to an iTunes library. My problem is all the footage is in a wide variety of dimensions, formats, framerates, strange codecs etc. I have access to Adobe Media Encoder and Apple Compressor. Is there a way to easily batch convert hundreds of video files to h.264, while retaining the original dimensions, metadata, etc.?
I have tried using a watch folder in AME but it freezes every time I add the folder...

Drag and Drop to Batch Convert Videos Using FFMPEG
I've created this simple Applescript that will run an FFMPEG command in the Terminal (which I want to show so that I can see the progress) on files dropped on the MTS to Cropped MPG.app icon:

I'd like to make this app portable so that I can share it or move it around as needed, so I put FFMPEG inside the Contents/Resources folder inside the app. The obvious problem is that the script will break as soon as I move the app to a different location. Is there a way to write the dynamic path of the app itself, no matter where it is moved, so that the app won't break when shared or moved?
This script also only works on a single video file. What I'd really like to do is drop a folder (which will always be called "mts") onto the app, and have the script create a new folder called "mpg" in the same directory as "mts", then batch convert all the .mts files in the "mts" folder, placing each new .mpg file into the "mpg" folder.
I'd also like the .mpg files to retain the same name as the .mts files, but instead of just appending .mpg, I'd like the .mpg to replace the .mts extension. So 00001.mts would be 00001.mpg (not 00001.mts.mpg as the current script generates).

In my case there will never be nested directories. There will simply a folder called "mts" with at least one, but perhaps many .mts files, all named sequentially (00000.MTS, 00001.MTS, and so on).

I recently switched from years of PC to iMac ( OSX 10.7.5) and need to batch convert thousands of old WordPerfect files (many without an apparent file extension) into my new Microsoft 2011 Word. I am a computer nitwit and am hoping for some simple solution.
Try reindexing the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.
Reindex messages.
If that doesn't work try deleting MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3.
Quit the application.
You need to look in your user Library. Either hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder “Go To Folder” command and enter ~/Library/Mail/V2/Mail Data/MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3. Move the file to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the file from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return thefile to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your User library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.5. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible. -
Batch convert WMV to quicktime
Hey all,
I would like to batch convert 30 movies in WMV format to quicktime (or MP4).
I can play the movies fine in quicktime (i've got flip4mac).
Could some kind sould help me get started in writing an automator action, or an applescript, or a bash script to get this done?

Unfortunately, in my case, your solution doesn't seem to help.
The probem is, that the iPod or Apple TV formats blow up the file size by a factor of 4 (at least) compared to the original file size.
That defeats the purpose of the whole exercise ...
I had hoped, there was an automator action that would just export to the last used format and codec options.
Otherwise, it would have been a beautiful solution

Batch convert illustrator layers to movieclips

ArjanFirst of all ... yes ... it is possible to save illustrator files as movie clips(which to me are .swf).
Since i suppose you`re making a reference to .fla files(because u need instance name to be the same name as the layer and so the .fla layer it is in), that should also be possible but you`ll have to play a bit with the flash scripting. Here's a start:
this will save every layer as a swf in the same location as the .ai file ...
