Batch convert multi-page hi-res pdf to lower-res jpeg

I'm doing what one would imagine to be a very simple batch process. I have about 40 issues of a 100 page magazine in hi-res pdf with crop marks. Each issue is divided up into about 35 multipage pdf files. I need to import each page into photoshop, crop off the crop marks, reduce the size 50% and save as jpeg.
Here is my problem:
Every time it opens the file it pauses and asks me which page to open. I need the batch to process EVERY page automatically. How do I do this?
Any advice?

It all depends if you could create an action to do the crop and resize, if you can do that then you could use this PDF Processor..

I have a folder that contains hundreds of saved web pages (receipts) that are saved as "web page complete", i.e. each page has a folder containing the images for that page. I can convert one web page at a time, but was hoping there's a way to run a batch. Combining the files isn't it.

Windows Explorer, select files, right-click, select Convert to PDF.
It wasn't to bad. Only have to do it once.

Converting Multi page .eps files to .pdf Preview is broken

I have in the past used Preview to convert multi page .eps files into
.pdf files. Since I have upgraded to Tiger 10.4.3 Preview will no longer work.
Does anyone know how to uninstall Tiger 3.03 version and go back to 2.xx version? Are there any utilities to do this for me? On my older mac (9.x) I have Adobe distiller.

I attached a .doc file to the message and it appeared as an icon, so I did not have to convert it. I attached a .jpg image — it appeared as a full image, but when I Command+clicked the image, the view as icon window did not appear on the screen. Likewise, I again checked the Mail Menu Bar, and did see 'View as icon.' Side note: I routinely use Mavericks Mail in Classic Mode, so I decided to try both modes. Same results in both modes. I checked my Mail Preferences, but couldn't find anything there, either. I'll continue to look around, but this has me stumped. Thanks for your assistance.

Batch open Multi page PDF's

How can I batch/automate open a multi page PDF in CS3?
I need to open multi page pdf's then rasterize them as individual jpegs, the "save As" from Acrobat or "export" is not good enough quality. They need to go through Photoshop.
At the end of the day I want to create a droplet so I can drag a load of multi page PDF's onto it and
let photoshop get on with it, I then come back 15-20 mins later, and hey presto there are all my converted CMYK 300 dpi Jpegs!

If I recall correctly, Adobe changed the Acrobat JPG output after version 6. If you have Acrobat 6, you might try it.
However, why do you say '
CMYK 300 dpi Jpegs'? 'CMYK' implies that printing is your intent. Anti-aliased text is not ideal for printing as it becomes mushy. You might want at least 600 ppi art without anti-aliased text here for crisper text.
Prematurely rasterizing this instead of sending the original PDF data to the printer seems very odd.

Your question does not make any sense. First, PDF does not support multi-page TIFFs. DO you have a PDF that you are trying to convert to WORD or what. It is unclear of what you are starting with and what your end goal is. If you are dealing with coding, you may need to check the SDK forum, but trying to understand what you are trying to do would be a good idea first.

There are lots of good Html to Pdf conversion tools for developers, both free and paid. I'd suggest to take a look at PD4ML Html to Pdf converter - it has lots of features (CSS support, page layout presets, etc.) and can be obtained for free for non commercial usage. There is also a topic at Stackoverflow with a list of such converters.

Batch save FIRST page only of PDF as JPEG??

Ok, frustrating afternoon here in sunny England...
I have a large number of PDF magazines, of varying lengths.
I would like to
Open JUST the first page of the PDF (ie the cover) as an image
Flatten it
Save it as a JPEG
Which sounds fairly simple. I can record an action and then run it with File>Automate>Batch no problem, but my action doesn't seem to move past the first stage, no matter what I specify in the batch options, or whether I include Save and/or Close stages in the action itself
So, my action opens page 1 of each PDF, (I've suppressed open dialog boxes so it goes with the default behaviour of rasterizing page 1, which is great), but then it stops, leaving all four of my test files open in PS, although it doesn't throw any errors
Before I get really frustrated, is this sort of thing achievable using Actions or should I be looking elsewhere??

Trying to Batch Convert PPT Decks into Multiple PDFs, but ...

In Acrobat Pro XI, I'm trying to convert about 20 PowerPoint slide decks into separate corresponding PDFs. I used the File>Create>Batch Create Multiple Files and added all my files.
However, Acrobat says it cannot open any of the documents. Any ideas? Thanks!

Are you able to open the PPT files from the Open menu in Acrobat? Nope. The error message was a little more explicit - says the files are an unsupported format or may have been damaged. (They were working files and then Dropbox-ed to me.)
Have you tried doing a Repair of your Acrobat installation from under the Help menu? Yes.
At this point, my deadline is getting the best of me and I've been going into the presentations and saving them one by one. I'm disappointed, as given the menu options, it seems like Acrobat thinks it has the functionality to do the batch convert.

I posted this question on "Mac OS X v10.3 & earlier > Printing & Faxing" and I got a reply saying that the gurus on this forum will have the answer, so here it goes, please bare in mind I know zero about AS:
Do you know if with an AS (or a third-party product that I could purchase) I would be able to batch-convert several Microsoft Office 2004 excel files (Mac version) into PDF?
I've Mac OS 10.3.9 and it already has the capability of converting any file into PDF via the standard Print command, however, it has to be done one by one and what I'm looking for is to do the whole batch in one shoot: e.g., something like dragging the folder with all the excel files into an AS or an application so they all get converted at once.

As for AppleScript.
Since Excel 2004 seems not have 'print to pdf' command or the like *1, I'm afraid you'd have to resort to GUI scripting of print dialogue etc. It might be doable but I have no experience in GUI scripting and cannot provide any help in this field.

How do I convert a Pages document to pdf on the iPad?

Does anyone know if there is an app that allows you to do this? I have to create a document in pages, create a pdf of the document, then email it to several addresses. Seems like there ought to be a way to accomplish this on the iPad, and not go to my laptop.

You said you wanted to e-mail it, so select Send a Copy. Select Mail. Now it will ask you for a file format, so select PDF.
That's it. Just type in the names of the e-mail recipients and you're good to go.
If you want to send the document as a non-CC type e-mail message, and BCC won't work because you need to have a custom body in the e-mail, then you can download most any PDF app. iBooks is an Apple based one and it's free. Instead of selecting Send a Copy, select Open in Another App. Now select your format as PDF. Select Choose App. Tap on iBooks or whatever. Now you can send the PDF from iBooks instead.

Converting corrupted pages file to PDF - URGENT :c

Ive got a very important work file i need to either be de-corrupted or have the PDF file pulled out (as I've heard some people can do).
It has at least 100-200 hours of work in and I just don't think I can go on with my work course without it, ill have to redo a whole year.

It it is a Pages '09 package format file — you can use the Finder to right-click on this document, choose Show Package Contents, and then navigate down into its QuickLook directory. There, the Preview.pdf document can be copied elsewhere, or simply opened in Preview for subsequent copy/paste into a new Pages document.
If it is the default Pages '09 single format file ( a compressed and zipped Pages package format file) then the following Terminal command sequence will get you access to the Preview.pdf document inside the archive, and write it into the current directory location as Preview.pdf. You can subsequently access and process it as you did with Preview in the first paragraph.

If your document is a Pages v5 (any version variation), there is no PDF stored inside the document, and the preview.jpg is only the very first page. All of the document content is in *.iwa files that only Pages v5 knows how to open. I suspect that they are at minimum compressed, and probably seeded with an encryption key that only Pages knows about. At any rate, there is no way to recover your document from them.

First post - hope its in the right place.
I work in Publishing, and I have been given the following task - I have about 400 ebooks, all in pdf format, and my task is to extract the cover from every one of them (which is the first page of every pdf) and export them all as separate jpeg files (file names can remain exactly the same - ie, the name of the pdf book will be the same as the jpeg file). So I will end up with 400 ebooks and 400 jpegs of their covers.
Anyone have any idea how to do this ?

I have looked at batch processing in acrobat, but the option to extract the first page of multiple pdf files is not one of the options. there is an option to create your own script which im guessing is my best bet ? (hence why i have posted my question here) Though I don't have the first clue about this. Have done some google searches, and some people have created similar things, but I cant seem to get them to work.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

ok, i have found a set of acrobat batch sequence and come across the following :

looks like i need something like this, but tried the above earlier, and couldnt get it to work (prob cause I didnt replace the words exactly correctly). I am guessing that i am entering this in the correct place though (ie - create new sequence, and got into the script editor box)

Save PDF as low resolution jpeg Acrobat Prof. 8

What settings should I use to save an A0 pdf map (3.25mb) as a low resolution jpeg that can be viewed online at full size without being good enough to save and not buy the map? Or is it just too impractible.

If I understand correctly, you want to make JPEGs to put on your web site to help people preview a purchase.
Use Photoshop, not Acrobat. (The DRM reply would apply if you wanted to put up a PDF but limit what could be done with it).
I suggest a very low res picture of the whole thing, which won't show any text or detail but will suggest the scope of the map, and a full resolution detail view of a small interesting section.
