Batch convert TODs to MOVs Automator?

Hi guys
Given the local help (Apple resellers) are clueless, I was hoping one of you BRILLIANT FCP users might be able to help me.
The deal is I'm working on a new series and management decided to go tapeless. So they bought a batch of problematic JVC Everio HDD (GZ-70) DV minicams.
They produce .TOD files which of course FCP 6.0 (upgrading to Studio v.2 and allegedly Final Cut Server one day but I have my suspicions this will be delayed interminedly) can't deal with.
So we are converting to QT .MOVs one by one by one by one and it is a drag.
Does anyone have an Automator script to batch convert TODs to MOVs?
I would be so grateful if you could help... We're dying here.
Julie

Hi
Google finds:
feed://www.amazon.com/rss/people/A3TTNRJ34PR4OX/reviews
"Forget about following JVC's instructions: they are too time-consuming and don't allow batch processing. The easiest conversion method I've found requires two freeware programs: The VLC media player, and MPEG Streamclip, both available on the Apple Website (and elsewhere). You'll first need to use the VLC player to convert the .TOD into a .TS file, which takes seconds (you are only changing the container format to MPEG TS, not actually changing compression). Once you've changed the .TOD file to a .TS file, you can use MPEG Streamclip to change to a variety of file formats that Final Cut Pro can recognize. Of course since you are recompressing the file at this point, expect this to take far longer than the first step."
The Mpegstreamclip pages at:
www.squared5.com
explain how to batch process using this conversion utility:
"MPEG Streamclip supports batch processing: just drag some files in the batch list, choose a conversion and a folder, click the Go button and MPEG Streamclip will automatically convert all your files."

  • Batch Convert PowerPoint to Movies file name issue

I need to batch convert powerpoint presentations to movie. But the save option forces me to use the same name on every movie. I want it to just save the presentation with the same file name. So if the powerpoint is:
    MyPresentation.ppt
    then the movie should be
    MyPresentation.mov
    How can I do this?
Here is a screenshot of the workflow.

Okay, so I tried ditching automator and doing the convert movie parts via applescript. This is what I tried but it gives me an automator error -212 (apparently on the first "perform action") saying "expected end of line, found property":
Any ideas on how to get the script to work with autmator (I tested a modified version of this script outside autmator and it does work for a single file).

  • Converting .m4v to .mov for NLEs

I have been given an .m4v video file that was created on a Mac with Final Cut Pro. I need to edit the file on my PC; I can play the file in QuickTime 7 Player on the PC but cannot import the file into any of my editing programs (Avid Media Composer v3, Adobe Premiere CS3, After Effects CS3) nor any of my conversion software (Sorensen Squeeze v5, etc.). So, I upgraded to QuickTime Pro figuring I should be able to use it to convert the file to a .mov or some other more "standard" format. I have tried every flavor of .mov (uncompressed, Avid DV Codec, etc.) and other file types as well (.avi, etc.) but everything I export fails to import into my editing applications.
Does anybody have any advice for either directly importing an .m4v in Avid or using QuickTime Pro to convert to a format I can then import? Thanks.

Does anyone know how I can batch convert them into .mov files?
No actual conversion is required unless you actually wish to re-compress the files. A bigger question would be whether or not the files contain AC3, chapter, and/or caption tracks. If so, then use QT Pro ($30) to first delete the extraneous data tracks and then use the "Save As..." option to save the H.264/AAC data tracks to an MOV file container. (NOTE: QT Pro can "parallel" process your files but not batch process them -- i.e., you can open a second, third, fourth, etc. file and start work on them while other files are being saved.)
If the MP4 or M4V file only containes H.264/AAC or MPEG-4/AAC tracks, then you can use MPEG Streamclip (free) to batch process them. Simply open the "Batch List" window, drop one or more files to the "Batch List" window, select the "Save As" option, make sure you do not select "Join" files in the next window, designate a target location for the new files, and press the "Go" button when the files are listed to the "Batch List" window.

  • How do I batch convert 700 sequences to .mov and .mv4 files?

I have 700 separate sequences in FCP. Each one is 20-30 seconds long. I need to rename them and convert them to .mov files and then also .m4v files?
Is there an easy way to batch this or do I have to do them one by one by one by one..........

Try using the *Export Queue* (in FCP click Window > Export Queue).
    1. Once the window is open, in the Browser window, highlight the sequences you wish to export.
    2. Click and drag them into the *Export Queue* window. You should see a folder called +Batch 1+, with all your sequences.
    3. Click on the +Batch 1+ folder and press the Settings... button at the bottom of the window.
    4. Set your output destination.
    5. To export full res, the format should be *QuickTime Movie*, and the settings should be *Item Settings*.
    6. Include *Audio and Video*, or *Video Only*, depending on what you need.
    7. Check the *Make Self-Contained* check box.
If your sequences are NTSC DV, to export .m4v you will want to use Compressor 2, so that you can fix the aspect ratio (NTSC is 720x480 while the iPod size is 640x480 or 320x240. This is the difference between square and rectangular pixels.).
    1. In the *Compressor Preset* window, find the +iPod Video+ folder, and the +iPod Video+ preset inside the folder.
    2. Click the preset and press the *Duplicate Selected Setting* button at the top of the window. A setting called +iPod Video-Copy+ should appear in your Custom folder.
    3. Click on your new setting.
    4. In the Inspector window, use the 6 buttons to change the settings to what you need.
    5. Make sure in the Encoder section, that you choose your size (640 VGA or 320 QVGA) and pick the proper aspect ratio (4:3).
    6. Save your settings.
    7. Drag the full res files you exported from FCP into the Batch window. *Select All* (Command + A).
    8. Right-click in the Setting column and choose your +iPod Video-Copy+. It will apply that setting to all your videos (it may take a while depending on how many you do at once.)
    9. Save your batch.
    10. Submit!
For renaming, you might try an Automator script. Search the forums or Google, if you need help with that!
    Hope this helps!

I want to know the best way to batch convert movies in Quicktime Pro with H.264 compression and save as a .mov file?
The QT Pro Player is not, in and of itself, a batch processing application. You can, however, parallel process your files easily enough. Simple open your additional source files and set up your export options for each. As each new export begings, a new progress bar will appear in your export window. If you wish true sequential batch processing, use an application like MPEG Streamclip (free) as your "front end" to access the QT structure for exportation.

  • Batch convert WMV to quicktime

    Hey all,
I would like to batch convert 30 movies in WMV format to quicktime (or MP4).
I can play the movies fine in quicktime (i've got flip4mac).
Could some kind sould help me get started in writing an automator action, or an applescript, or a bash script to get this done?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

Thanks a million for your response.
Unfortunately, in my case, your solution doesn't seem to help.
The probem is, that the iPod or Apple TV formats blow up the file size by a factor of 4 (at least) compared to the original file size.
That defeats the purpose of the whole exercise ...
I had hoped, there was an automator action that would just export to the last used format and codec options.
Otherwise, it would have been a beautiful solution
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

  • Batch convert Pages files to Doc and stay in the same folder?

    Hi there,
I use iWork '09 on Mountain Lion. I recently switched to Microsoft Word and prefer it over Pages (personal preference). However, I have nearly 1000 files on my computer that are in Pages format. I have extensively searched this issue in the Apple Support Communities and it appears that there are scripts that DO EXIST that batch convert Pages files into Word files. However, it appears that many of these scripts were built for older versions of iWork and therefore I run into various errors. For example, I used the script available at http://pagesfaq.blogspot.com/2008/01/export-folder-to-word-rtf-pdf-txt-or.html and click run but nothing actually happens (the script runs for less than a second, then I can click run again). I was able to use one script successfully (pasted below), but the only reason I can't use it is because it saves ALL my converted documents in one folder on my desktop and I would like a script that can save them in the original file were the Pages document is located.
So, is there an iWork '09 compatible script that can convert my Pages documents to Word documents and save them in the same folder as the original? Oh, and for an added bonus, it'd be cool if the script also deleted my Pages version after it was done with the conversion

Looking for a howto for an applescript to batch convert PPTS to Keynote...
    Hi to group!
(cross posted this a couple of weeks ago to Keynote forum, no responses) Perhaps the query really belongs here...)
    (I) Have a whole bunch of PPTs to convert to Keynote, now and more as time goes on.
Looked into applescript to try to automate this a bit (could open PPT file but did not see any way to 'Save' file from a script).
Also looked into bash scripting/automator too -- way too many options to choose from. Help!
Anybody done anything similar to this already?
    TIA for pointers. //GH

    A word of caution.
I have not tried the workflow before.
I am not an applescript expert.
These steps were quickly composed using my basic knowledge in Applescript
What I was planning was to create a script droplet that when a ppt file is dropped upon it, it extracts the name of the file and sets it to a variable to name the keynote file later. You might have to modify it a bit to batch process multiple files.
Try going through batch processing scripts made for quark or Adobe photoshop ( Not sure if these exist on internet) to see how they have implemented the steps in applescript.
To GUI Script Keynote, do these steps...
All the code has to go in here
<pre title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor" style="font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 10px; padding: 5px; width: 720px; color: #000000; background-color: #E0E0E0; overflow: auto">activate application "Keynote.app"
    tell application "System Events"
       tell process "Keynote"
-- insert GUI Scripting statements here
       end tell
    end tell
    </pre>
<pre title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor" style="font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 10px; padding: 5px; width: 720px; color: #000000; background-color: #E0E0E0; overflow: auto">click menu item "Export…"  of menu 1 of menu bar item "File"  of menu bar 1</pre>
This will click the next.. button provided the default export type is set to PPT
<pre title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor" style="font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 10px; padding: 5px; width: 720px; color: #000000; background-color: #E0E0E0; overflow: auto">click button 2 of sheet 1 of window 2
    </pre>
This will click the Export button on the next window
click button 1 of sheet 1 of window 2
This piece of code can be used to set the name of the ppt file using the extracted name in the first step
<pre title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor" style="font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 10px; padding: 5px; width: 720px; color: #000000; background-color: #E0E0E0; overflow: auto">set value of text field 1 of sheet 1 of window 2 to "<string>"
    </pre>
May be there is a better way out there.
Thanks for red_menace for his Script formatter script

  • Using batch convert tool on my website

Can anyone help me out with a few questions:
    1)  How can I use Batch Convert tool on my website where I will be able to process the files with an automated process?
    2)  How and from where can I get the API to embed on my website?
    3)  I want to automate the batch conversion process so that no human intervention is required. Can I do that?
    Appreciate the answers.

The batch processor in Audition is an internal tool, not an external one so no, you can't use it on your website because it's DAW, not a web development kit. There's no API available.

  • Batch convert a series of web pages w/ Adobe Acrobat Pro XI?

Is there the capability using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI to batch convert a series of web pages (e.g., feed to Acrobat a list of URL's to process, et al)?
Any and all replies would be most welcome and appreciated.

Dude,  (Why do I feel like I'm in the movie "The Big Lebowski"? [ret.])
It depends on what you are feeding Acrobat and how you are feeding Acrobat.
If it's a bunch of HTML files then you can create an Action to convert the contents of a folder.
If it's just URLs then it's a little more complicated.  You might need to create a JavaScript to accept all of the URLs individually and then process them in order to the Create PDF from Web Page feature.
Wait for more responses though because there are a lot of people who have probably done this already and have better ideas than the ones I propose.
