Batch convert VOB, DVDs, Other video files to IPOD, IPhone

I have an Ipod Classic and an IPhone. I have backed up many of my DVDs to my hard drive in DVD Format (series of VOB) files. I'm trying to find a piece of software that can easily just grab a slew of these files and convert them to Ipod and/or iPhone compatible MP4 files unattended. I am not having any luck. I've tried several. Most are lousy at handling VOBs directly and I haven't found any that will do a whole bunch of movies in batch mode. Anybody have a good recommendation. (Windows XP Professional). Thanks.

We're not supposed to talk about DVD conversion according to the terms of service ...
So I'll assume these VOB files are from your HOME MOVIE DVDs you burned yourself and suggest the Videora iPod Classic Video Converter.
http://www.videora.com/
It's a really nice program that converts not only your HOME MOVIE DVD VOB files, but AVI, MPEG, and others. You can set the CPU usage from high to low with five settings, it has a queue which you can add multiple files to, and it will minimize to the taskbar for compact convenience. There are other Windows programs that do much the same, but I prefer Videora. Oh ... and it's freeware!!

Try reindexing the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.
    Reindex messages.
If that doesn't work try deleting MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3.
    Quit the application.
You need to look in your user Library. Either hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder “Go To Folder” command and enter ~/Library/Mail/V2/Mail Data/MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3.  Move the file to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the file from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return thefile to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your User library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.5. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • Iphoto 9.5.1 shows mpeg-4 files as a thumbnail, but will only show as a black screen when you double click on it, other video files are able to be played and are viewable.  Why?

iphoto 9.5.1 shows mpeg-4 video files as a thumbnail, but will not play the video.  When try to play video it shows as a black screen.  Other video files play ok- (mpeg, .mov).  What do I have to do to view them?   If I use imovie they will play, but I sometime like to view them in iphoto.  It worked before I upgraded to 9.5.1 and 19.9.2 of the operationg system.

Select the thrumbnail of one of the videos and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option.  That should take you to the original mpeg4 file.
If it does then try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

  • How can I send a large video file from my iPhone 4?

How can I send (by text) a (fairly) large video file from my iPhone 4 without it getting compressed first?
If that's not possible is there a way to uncompress the video file one it is received onto the receiving iPhone?
Or is there a way to sync or transfer a video file from iPhone to iPhone?

ExFAT would be the best file system format, as it will handle files greater than 4GB.
If exFAT is not available, go for FAT32.
Just FAT is too limiting, so avoid that

  • Convert DVD and other video files for playback on  iPhone, iPod, PSP, etc.

So, how are your holidays going? Or, if you're reading this on the weekend, how'd they go? Watching various sorts of DVD movies and videos is a better idea for a pastime during your free time. To make your holiday be more colorful with movies, I prefer to recommend an application to help you guys deal with different kinds of video resources, no matter the DVD files or footages shot by camcorders, or videos in formats of FLV, AVI, MKV, etc., in a word, the converted videos will be supported by whatever portable devices you have, including PSP, iPod Classic, iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPhone (3G), iPhone, Zune, Zune 2, Blackberry, Nokia, Creative Zen, Sony Walkman, iRiver PMP, Archos, PS3, Apple TV, Xbox, iPAQ, Pocket PC, Mobile Phone, etc. The software is Pavtube Video DVD Converter Ultimate, which combines DVD ripper and Video Converter together, and enables you to edit and convert any DVD, video, audio and image files to other popular formats including MP4, 3GP, FLV, MPEG-4, AVI, MPG, MOV, 3G2, VOB, FLAC, MKA, OGG, WAV, AC3, M4A with super fast conversion speed and excellent image and sound quality.
The detailed user guide will be shown in the following part:
Step 1: Add video and DVD file
You are allowed to add videos to this program via clicking "Add Video", and add DVD files to it via clicking "Load DVD". DVD files can be loaded in three ways: "Load DVD ROM", "Load DVD Folder", and "Load ISO/IFO".
Step 2: Select output format and set destination folder
Videos and DVD files can be added to this program at the same time, after that, you can click the drop-down list of "Format" to select an output format for your portable devices. The format profile provides you with formats for iPod, iPhone, PSP, PS3, BlackBerry, etc. Meanwhile, you can click the folder icon at the end of "Output" to decide where to save the output files. Moreover, if you want to combine multiple files to be a single file, you can tick "Merge into one file".
    Step 3: Set advanced settings
If you have the needs of adjusting video and audio parameters to make good control of the output file quality and size, you can click "Settings" button to do it, and all the options like codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, audio channel, etc. are changeable on the following window.
    Step 4: Start conversion
As soon as the above steps are finished, you can click "Convert" button to start conversion, the following ripping window will show you clearly about all the conversion info. After finished, you are able to find out the output files via clicking "Open" button.

• Does Quicktime Pro convert VOB DVD files?

I'm very new to DVD although not to Macs (Thankfully). I'm ripping my hair out trying to convert Canon (rewriteable) dvds into a format the Mac will read. (Windows seems to support all dvds with Ulead etc....) Will Quicktime Pro convert VOB files into something I can play back on the Mac? I assume from other postings the files should be in MPEG-2 format. If not, what on earth can I buy that will do the job simply and cheaply....

Try Mpeg StreamClip: ( http://www.squared5.com ) it's free. It will convert from VOB to DV, QT and several other formats, but you will have to have the Mpeg 2 codec on your Mac to use it, that can be purchased here, ( http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/ ) if you don't have it already.
Another sharware program for transcoding, to different formats and can burn to DVD when it finished transcoding is called VisualHub, found here: http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/tryit.php . It comes with the codecs, (via a free download after VH is installed.
    It costs $23.32USD

  • Transfering DVD to Video file formats

I'm trying to convert mini DVDs to a video file format (.mov .avi, .mp4, etc.). I used the trial version of iMedia Converter Deluxe made by iSkySoft but the videos look pix-elated & not as clear as the original footage (.vob).... Can anyone recommend a converter that will copy the files in the best possible quality?

    See my post here.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3951
The post recommends using Apple Intermediate Codec. With Final Cut Pro, you could also use ProRes 422 (LT) as your codec.

  • VTS,VOB,IFO,BUP  VIDEO files wont play on Mac???

I have a sony handycam DVD, From the DVD in camera I can play it on dvd player on Mac when copy and paste file from DVD to Mac cannot open any of files ?????? what can I do ???

The VTS, BUP and IFO files are not video files at all, which would thus be a problem on any playback application.
The VOB files are MPEG-2 files by any other name. Buy the Apple MPEG-2 playback component and open the files for editing in MPEG Streamclip (free) , not Quicktime, as any edits you do and exports of same will not have audio. You still need the MPEG-2 component either way.
And if the DVD uses AC3 Dolby audio you won't have any to listen to before exporting either. QT doesn't like AC3 audio either.
