Batch Determination in BOM?

Is it possible to determine my component requirements inside the BOM from which BATCH so when I run MRP it will do reservation from the right batch? and if not found it would create a purchase requisition?
If not, when I run MRP it will display Dependant Requirement on the Material Master level and not the Batch, how to let it automatically determine which batch it should set the requirements on?

Goto MM02 with you material id and check out if the "Batch Management Requirement Indicator" is ticked on Sales:general/plant view .U should switch on this indicator .This indicator specifies whether the material is managed in batches.
Moreever , this cannot be changed if stocks exist in either the current period or in the previous period. The reason for checking the previous period is because stocks can be posted to this period when goods movements are entered.

    I am facing a difficult scenario. Pl. help me out. In my Business Process I am assigning Batches in Production Order Component Overview Screen. Here I am assigning relevant batches to BOM Components manually, My Management want SAP to suggest batches automatically on FIFO basis, thickness, grade, width & first batches should automatically assign to Production order.  Can you pl. tell me how to configure this scenario.
    Or can I pull stock overview screen at Production Order Component screen to assign relevant batch to BOM Components
    Once batches assigned in Production Order component screen cannot be changed. It can be changes by specific persons only.

  • MPN Manufacturer batch determination during goods issue

    I am from pharma industry and my business runs with batch management, MPN features.
    Scenario:
    I have 3 different finished product P1, P2 and P3. All three finished products use raw material R1.
    But, I have restrcition like, when I am manufacturing P1 product I can only use R1 of batch from manufacturer M1.
    For P2 material we can use R1 batch from manufacturer M2 only.
    For P3 material we can use R1 batch from manufacturer M1 and M2.
    Now, I have maintained the BOM CS02 batch classification for three differ FGs P1, P2 and P3 with relation P1-R1-M1, P2-R1-M2, P3-R1-M1+M2.
    In COB2 T-code I am mainmtaining strategy type CO02 - Order type/Plant/Parent material with child relation ship. Here also, I am maintaining relation P1-R1-M1, P2-R1-M2, P3-R1-M1+M2.
    Now, when I am creating process order in COR1, I am getting in case of P1 order R1 material batch determination only batches from M1 manufacturer.
    Same as for P2 material process order R1 material only batches for detrmination from M2 manufacturer.
    Same as for P3 material process order R1 material batch determination option from M1 and M2 only.
    Now, if I don't go for batch determination through Process order and in stead of that if I want the batch determination during goods issue MIGO 261 movement against order, the above manufacturer level control we can't put.
    As in MBC2 T-code, we have standard batch determination and search strategy for material, plant and movement type.
    But, here we can't maintain any parent child relationship.
    Now, can you please suggest how I can control manufactuer batch detrmination as per above strategy during Migo goods issue.
    Through any standard settings we can do or, any exits required?
    Gurus please suggest!

    You can do this by using FM CO_WB_BATCH_DETERMINATION or VB_BATCH_DETERMINATION function module.
    here you can sort the batches and compare the Batch results with the batch search strategy.

  • Batch determination issue in process order Material quantity calculation

    Dear Gurus,
    We are facing issue in auto batch determination in process order (Material quantity calculation ).
    eg Material X  is active material 200 KIA used in BOM as
    10  X   200  KIA  
    20  Y   10           Filler
    30  Z
    40  X   200  KIA
    50  Y
    60  Z
    We select line item 10 and 40 and do Batch determination system proposes 2 batches for line item 10 as Batch A and B
    and for line 40 again Batch A (with 0.01 KIA) and batch B proposed which is wrong.
    For line Item 10 Batch A and B
    For line Item 40 Batch B and C or as per FIFO logic.
    As Batch A should be consumed in Line item 10 then it proposed Batch B and so on....
    We have already maintain data in COB1.
    Can any body explain what is wrong in determination.

    Hi,
    In BOM if the qty is negative, that means its a By Product from the process. That means you are receiving a new batch of the product. here you need to assign (create) a new number for the batch.

    Please check these steps that you have done exactly like this;
    For that you have to do five important steps or features you have to know OK.
    1) Batch number assignment: We use this function to assign a batch with a number that uniquely identifies it OK.
    2) Batch Specf: To describe each batch uniquely using like Characteristics and characteristic The values. are allocated in the material master.
    3) Batch status management: To indicate weather a batch is usable or unusable: We can set (a) Manually in the batch master record or at goods receipt and (b) Automatically in the usage dissension in quality management.
    4) Batch Determination: We can use this function for various criteria to search for batches that are in stock (a) movement type: When posting goods issues (b) When combining suitable components for order types.
    5) Where used list: The batch where used list shows the path of the batch from its procurement to its delivery to the customer.
    6) Active Ingredient Management: This function is to administrate and process materials with active ingredients that are to be handled in batches OK.
    Condition types: Say for x material if we want to determine the batch at the movement type/ plant/order type.
    Access Sequence: It will checks weather the batch determination is done with movement type/ plant/ material &
    order type/ plant/ material.
    Strategy type: We will assign here condition type and Access sequence and as well we have to maintain Class type: 023
    sort sequence, batch split
    Batch Search Procedure: Here we will define the search procedure and using the condition type here OK.
    Batch Search Procedure Allocation and Check Activation: Here we will assign the search procedure to the movement types and for order types as well
    HERE THE BELOW FOLLOWING DATA WILL GIVE YOU RIGHT UNDERSTANDING OK:
    a) It will looks for the search procedures.
    b) It searches through the strategy types in the search procedures for a valid search strategy.
    c) Characteristics from the selection class of the search strategy looks for batches with suitable specifications.
    d) Then it will looks for weather the batches are available.
    e) It sorts the batches that are available according to the sort rule from the search strategy.
    f) Then the system selects a proposed quantity with proposed quantity from the search strategy OK.

    In the  material master for the components base unit of measure is Kg and we have maintained L as unit of isuue and in material BOM and process order we have given component UOM as L, but at the time of batch determination we are getting qty in kGS,
    Since in process order we have given  UOM as L we should get it as L,
    What is to be done to get it in L, please advice step by step

    At the time batch determination system will prapose qty in base unit of measure only. Yo ucan not change their as KG.
    Only by time of issue you can use your alternate UOM i.e.L

    i have made all settings that necessary for batch determination for components in process order, from condtion table to search strategy(COB1), but when i am doing BD for componets in process order, the sorting rule and selection class is not picking as procedure automatically. If i select startegy Info and  select the same then BD is working fine.
    Can you give idea the where any setting is missing?

    Have you maintain Batch Determination Procedure in your Order Type dependnent paramter (T.code COR4).Also for auto batch determination you have to maintain batch entry 3 in material master for all batch managed BOM components.

  • Batch Determination for Backflushing

    Hello...I am wanting to find the config to my problem so I can correct it, I can not seem to locate it.  Your help would be greatly appreciated and as always I will reward points.
    When receiving a Backflush PO in transaction MIGO, on the batch material I select the batch determination ICON.  If I have less qty than the PO ask for, it does not issue a error, it changes to the number I have available in stock.  I do not want this to happen, should be an error stating the qty is not available.  However, if I manually input the batch numbers I do get the hard error message that there is not enough qty. I would like this to happen the same way when using the batch determination icon.  Where do I change this at and how do I make this an hard error?

    Yes, of course, now everything is crystal clear...
    Here is the deal -
    The subcontracting PO, when you receive, while posting 543, it can be setup in (1) Auto Batch determination Mode and 2) leave it for manual selection.
    Let's say, you have auto batch determination active, it will propose Batch automatically with full quantity (if available in that batch).  If not available, it would take you to batch determination screen with all available partial quantities of each batch ( just to show you)....you may select and hit copy button that will transfer quantities to 543.  However, with short quantity consumption in 543 for a s/c po, it should not be made "ERROR" because, at times, actual consumption could be less than the planned ones in the BOM.  So, I would not see if that is really required.  If you think, for your project, it is a must and should not allow partial quantity consumption, I can research further.  I guess, it will give a message about less quantity consumtpion.  If you make that system message to "ERROR" in IM configuration of system messages, it might work...My system is down and couldn't try this scenario right now...

  • Batch determination during process order release

    Dear Experts,
    I am facing a problem, and not able to figure out the reason. There is material having base unit as 'EA' and Issue unit as 'NO' and conversion is 10 NO= 1 EA. The same material is maintained in the BOM as 1 NO. At the time of creation of process order, system is copying the same quantity in the process order (1NO). When I release the process order, the batch determination is happening. Now the issue comes, instead of doing batch determination of 1 NO, system is doing batch determination for 1 EA (which is equivalent to 10 NO.!). Can anyone help me to find out the reason for same.

    If you want to go for external batch numbering during order release then
    - Set no automatic Batch creation in order in T.Code CORY.
    This setting only restrict the automatic Batch Creation in order only.But to fulfill second your requirement of restricting order release or save without assigning external batch no you have to either go for,
    - User exit.Below are the user exits which are trigger at the time of order saving
    PPCO0006 to predefine entries for order header fields when
    an order
    PPCO0001 to provide information at the time of saving (for
    production orders and process orders)
    PPCO0007 to check or change header data when saving
    or
    - Create screen variant using T.code SHD0 and make Batch Field compulsory.

    Few of RM is having Batch management where Stock are lying into different production shop floor location XXXX and those RM is used into one production order of Finished Goods where System will not picking batch into production order , that we are putting by checking availability and than putting correct Shop floor Storage location and correct Batch in which stock is lying.
    now the above activity i want to perform through automatic batch determination which will system pick by default in which stock is exist in shop floor location. please suggest me step by step procedures for the same. few idea i have but i need clear guidelines....

    Pankaj,
    You can define the production storage location in BOM component details under Status/Lng Text or in MRP2  production storage location so that system will do the reservation by default for this production storage location and also good issue will be from same storage location.
    Against this reservation you can transfer the stock from stores to shopfloor.

    Have you assigned the sort rule in MBC1?

    I have one question on batches when I am entering stock against batches in Outbound Delivery Note (as batch split ) the batch determining the storage location is different not the one which it belongs to, I need the batch stock should be determine in same storage location not the different one.
    For example: I have 5 storage locations, each storage location contain 5 to 6 batches;
    Storage Location: WO1, WO2, WO3, W04 AND WO5
    Batches: A1,B1,C1,D1,E1 etc.
      Stor. Loc    Batches
    1. W01:             B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6

    I. If I enter B1 and stock 10kg then it automatically determining storage location as W02. Actually it belongs to storage location W01 it should be the same W01only
    II. If I enter C1 and stock some 15kg then also it automatically determining storage location as W02. Actually it belongs to storage location W03 it should be the same W03.
