Batch Determination in MIGO

Dear Gurus
I have implemented the automatic batch determination base on shelf life expiry date.
While issuing the material stock by using transaction MB1A (Movement:201), system is giving correct result and working fine.
But when I issue the material stock by using transaction MIGO (Movement:201), Automatic batch determination is not working and system doesn't give any result.
Is there any setting I have missed out? Please guide.
Kuldeep Jaiswal

A Question here - can automatic batch determination trigger at MIGO? Since we only set it up for :
> Automatic Batch Determination for Sales Order Items
> Activate Automatic Batch Determination for Delivery Item Cat
I have an external warehouse system with no batch management. I also have an external sales system interfaced with SAP. Hence no sales documents in SAP - just inventory and FI postings. When I will be posting inventory (iDoc) from this external WM and Sales system to SAP - can I trigger an automatic batch determination in order to post inventory with batch????

• Batch Determination during MIGO Movement 543 O

Dear All SAP Gurus,
I want to know about batch determination during MIGO transaction for subcontracting cycle , movemnt type 543 O -consumption for parts provided to vendor.
In Brief: Suppose clients executing subcontracting cycle and send the RM/PM against subcontracting PO to vendor. At the time of MIGO we have to enter the batch number of RM/PM which we had sent to vendor. But when we serach the batches available at the vendor it shows number of batches. My client want batch determination process so that system will take the batch number accordingle po as we sent material with reference to po.
Please suggest in this matter or if any one has solution please tell.
Thanks in advance
Mahesh

Hi Mahesh,
Go to SPRO > Logistics - General > Batch Management > Batch Determination and Batch Check > Batch Search Procedure Allocation and Check Activation > Allocate IM Search Procedure/Activate Check > Here assign Batch Search Procedure "ME0001" to Movement Type 543 O
Then go to MBC1 and maintain condition record for Strategy Type ME02 i.e. Plant and here keep selection method as "O"
In MIGO, click on "Stock Determination" button for automatic batch determination.
Hope it helps!

• Automatic Batch determination in MIGO for IM movements/GI/TF Postings

I have configured batch determination to use SLED for batches in Ascending Order.
GRs have been done for 2 batches, one with SLED a day earlier than the other.
Now,
I know there is some auto batch determination for SD documents, but I want batch suggestions for IM Movements.
I am trying to post 301 transfer to another plant, and it asks ME to enter the batch.
How can I make the system propose the desired batch (earlier SLED) automatically?
Thanks.

there is no automatic batch determination in MIGO, you have to click the stock determination button

• Batch determination during MIGO

Dear all,
This is question regarding the Sort rule used during Batch determination during MIGO (GI).
Below are what i've done:
1. Maintain Batch search strategy via SPRO
2. Maintain Batch search condition records via MBC1. Here I maintain the sort rule = ZSORT.
FYI, sort rule contains characteristic fields: (1)BATCH_CREATION_DATE, (2)BATCH_NUMBER.
3. Performing GI via MIGO, in Batch determination screen there is a column showing "Characteristic sort." From here, i can view how the characteristic fields and its value being sorted.
Problem arise, in above screen, i can only see (1)BATCH_CREATION_DATE only display in column "Characteristic sort.". Missing of characteristic field (2)BATCH_NUMBER.
Could you please comment on what went wrong? Please comment
This is the setting used for BATCH_NUMBER (TCode CT04):
Basic data
Chars group = BATCH
Status = Released
Format  = Char
Number of Char = 10
Value Assignment = Single value
Values
No maintenance
Addnl data
Table name = MCHA
Field name = CHARG
Procedure for value assignment = Not Ready for input
Restriction
No maintenance

Dear all,
I've got my issue solved. There are 2 areas i applied fixes:
1. Sort rule's characteristic field should come from the same class as Selection criteria (MBC1)
2. Sort rule's characteristic field's setting in CT04, it should coming from table field that declared in tab "Addnl data".

• Automatic Batch Determination in MIGO

Hi,
We have batch determination set up for inventory management and works correctly. However, everytime we go to MIGO, we have to click on "Batch Determination" icon. Our requirement is that system should be able to determine the batch automatically instead of manual step of selecting the batch.
Please help.
Thanks,
Shekhar

there is no automatic batch determination in inventory managment, only in SD deliveries and WM transport orders an automatic batch determination is supported

• Batch determination in MIGO of subcontracting orders

Hi guys,
We are using batch determination for raw materials and internal batch will be assigned at the time of Goods REceipts. This particular material will be sent to subcontracting vendor for producing another end-product. While doing transfer posting of this item, we have given the batch no also.
While doing MIGO for the end-product against the subcontracting order, the system should consume the raw material with 543 movement. While doing this, the batch no has to be selected automatically from the transfer posting document. But it is not picked up automatically and we are giving the batch no while doing MIGO for the end-product. Can we get the batch no from the transfer posting document directly.
Do we need to do any config settings for this?
Please suggest me the solution
Thanks in advance

• Batch Determination in MIGO - GI

Hi Experts,
I have a process order that some components are batch assigend, and some have no batches assigned. After releasing the order, it is to be processed for Goods Issuance. The problem is, the BATCH Field in the screen is not editable. It is grayed out. I need to assign batches to the components that doent have batch numbers yet. How do i disable this uneditable field?
Thanks!

Hy Kumar,
Pls give clarity for I
have a process order that some components are batch assigend, and some have no batches assigned
Is it mean,
- Batch Detrmination is already done for some of the material or for rest of the material it is requried to do.
or
- Some component are Batch managed and some are not.
If that Batch Filed is grey in MIGO screen then problem is Materials are not Batch Managed.Pls check it.
IF everything is fine, Your problem required more clarity from your side.

• Batch determination at MIGO

Hi,
This is relevant to subcontracting process where in our client sends input material against BOM with unique batch no given to all the input materials. But receiving batch no will be different which is given at the time of MB1B than that of sending batch no.
What clients requirement is, they want to get receiving batch no as a default when they do MIGO(goods receipt of the finished product from the subcontractor)from the stock transfer document.
How can it be done...
pls suggest.

Look at enhancement MBCFC010 to achieve this.

• Automatic batch determination for quality inspection stock

Hello, gurus.
Could you please, help me with the following problem: I have received on the certain storage location some quantity of material maintained in batches into quality inspection stock with 501 movement type. Now I would like to make reverse posting, but I do not want to use cancellation of the document, I need to use 502 movement type and determine batch from quality inspection stock with automatic batch determination in MIGO transaction. I assigned Batch search procedure to 502 movement type and created all necessary condition records. I use Checking Group for Availability Check ‘CH’ and Checking Rule for Availability Check ‘03’ where I include quality inspection stock. However no batch can be determined. But if I use 331 movement type, everything is OK, the batch is determined without any problems. If I manually put batch and valuation type for the material, the system shows no error.
Why it is not possible to do automatic batch determination for quality inspection stock then?

OK, let us talk abou it. I check it in my system, actually 502 can work, but I can't trigger BM determination by 501. Maybe BM determination onlys to select some existing batches for consumption. For 501 in my pratice I can select all the existing batches to be added or just add a new batch.

• FEFO logic in batch determination for process order release

Batch determination for a particular material in a process order was following FIFO logic . We needed to change it to FEFO hence we made the necessory changes in COB1 how ever the process order relase is still taking the batch whihs is not the first expiry batch
Kindly help in batch determination with FEFO for process order release.

Rk
The blw explation for inventory side, i don't have idea for prod order side
If Batch Management is active for the materials then use following process;
First create characteristic in CT04 for Batch Creation Date, under "Addnl data", enter Table Name MCH1 or MCHA (As per Batch Class 022 or 023) and Field ERSDA and save it.
Assign this characteristics in CL02 in your Batch Class.
CU70 - Create a Sort Rule and specify the Characteristic of Batch Creation Date and activate "Ascending" indicator.
Now assign the Sort Rule in MBC1 and keep Selection criteria as "O" for the Strategy type.
Now do batch determination in MIGO.

• MIGO subcontracting batch determination

hi guys,
one of our customers just upgraded to ECC605 and now batch determination changed its behavior:
in the same MIGO session two items have the same component 'A' to be issued from vendor stock O (mov type 543); for the first component A the batch determination is OK; for the second one the batch determination still proposes the same batches given for the first component.
Before the upgrade (it was another ECC6.0 but with older packages) the second batch determination was proposing only batches not reserved by the first one.
we had a look in batch determination settings, looks ok and my few tests did not give any result.
we had also a look in availability check settings but with no results and also ATP is not at batch level I guess.
Any suggestion?
thank you in advance, regars, Lucilla and Stefano

Hi,
It can be Insufficient customizing of the batch search strategy. Added the
class of the batch as a selection option to the existing ME01 strategy
type (Movement/Type/Material).
Also are you using online transaction or BAPI.
There is a recent SAP note for BAPI/MIGO
1620944 MIGO: M7018 for subcontracting component

• Batch Determination for SubContracting Order in MIGO

Hello all,
In the transaction, MIGO the batch determination is not being automatically generated when we enter the PO on the GR screen in Migo. One has to click the "Stock Determination" button for each line item.
What setting needs to be done so that the batches could pop in there automatically without clicking 'Determine Stock' Button for each line item.
Thanks,
Gauravjit.

Hi Gauravjit ,
check these steps :
For Auto batch determination the system carries out the following steps in succession:
1 it looks for a search procedure for the business transaction
2 it searches through the strategy types listed in the search procedure for a search strategy. The first valid search strategy is adopted and all other search strategies are ignored.
3 it then uses the characteristics from the selection class of the search strategy to look for batches with suitable specifications
4 it checks whether the batches are available
5 it sorts the batches that were found and are available according to the sort rule from the search strategy
6 the system selects a proposed quantity in accordance with the proposed quantity from the search strategy.
7 the system proposes that batch determination is to run online, providing that the search strategy contains the information
You allocate batch search procedures to those Inventory Management movement types for which batch determination is to be carried out, and activate batch checking.
Allocate a search procedure to each movement type.
Set indicator Check batch if you want the system to check manually entered batches.
regards

• Batch determination for subcontract orders in MIGO

Hi,
I have a doubt. I´ve customized a batch determination strategy for Inventory Management, for movement type 543.
When i receive a subcontract order, using transaction MIGO, the batch determination process is NOT triggered automatically, until i press button "Stock Determination".
Is there a way to determine batches in MIGO without pressing this button? (fully automatic).
Best regards.

Hello Alejandro,
Thanks for the further clarification!
It depends on how you are processing the goods receipt in MIGO:
.- If you post the Goods Receipt for the Subcontracting purchase order and you do not expand the components, then just flag the main item and post, an automatic batch determination for the batch component will be processed then by the system and the goods receipt will be processed.
.- If you post the Goods Receipt for the Subcontracting purchase order and you expand the components, then, the batch field will be opened for input and the user manually will need to start the process pressing the icon for the batch determination (or also the one for the stock determination).
I hope this helps!

• Batch not determined in MIGO-Goods Issue for cost center

Hi,
We are using Batch Determination while posting Goods Issue to cost center. However, when we enter * in the batch field system does not propose the batches.
We have done following settngs
Strategy type ME01 which is SAP standard
Batch search procedure - ME0001
Search procedure ME0001 is assigned to movement type 201 in "Allocate IM Search Procedure/Activate Check"
Sort Rule - 01 using charecterstics (ascending)
Class - BATCH_MASTER created
Characterstics - Size, Shape, Color (No table or field are maintained in Addional Data) assigned to this class.
Material is maintained with classification and batch management active.
Master Data - Search Strategy is maintained using t code MBC1 for stratefy type ME01 (Key combination Movement Type/Plant/Material). Selection criteria - Values maintained for characterstics. Sort Rule - 01
Now when we are issuing goods to cost center and enter * in batch field, system is supposed to suggest the batches (material is in stock and batches are available). However, system does not give pop up.
Am I missing something? Where is the batch determination button as system is giving message to use button?
Shekhar

Thank you for the answer.
It gives only one batch and not all the batches. Why it could be?

• Batch Determination

Dear Friends ,
We are using batch managment with batch determination and it is working fine with MIGO transaction.
E.g. I am doing issue Mvt 261 for a material in MIGO and while doing, there is a ICON "stock determination" and when I select the icon it displays list of batches for that material and automatically selects the batches. It is fine
But if I use MB1A for the same transaction , I am not getting the stock determination ICON. How to select auto batch determination if I do transaction through MB1A
Thx
