Batch determination in the system

Hi,
Can  anybody  please   give  me  a  small explanaition  how  is  working
the  automatic Batch determination  in  the  system when  creating  a  delivery  doc.

please read this doc......
-->BATCH DETERMINATION:
Create some batch numbers and use them for stocking material
Menu Path :
SAP Menu ...logistics ... central functions ... select batch management ... select the batch... create (MSC1N)
Enter the material ---Comp1.5
Dialogue (internal number) accept the dialogue
Production date =
Shelf life u2013
Shelf life expiry date u2013
Available date u2013
Select the classification tab
Under value =  .. save.
Not the batch number in status bar
Repeat this and create batch numbers
DEFINE THE CHARACTERISTICS
Selecting production date as the characteristics T.Code u2013 CT04
Characteristic u2013 ZPD
Description = production date
Data type= date  format
Select multiple values (right side)
Save the characteristics
CREATE CLASS ( We use class to assign several characteristics)
T.Code u2013 CL01
Class u2013 ZPD
Class type u2013 023
Description u2013 class for compressor
Select characteristic
Characteristic
ZPD
Enter
CREATE MATERIAL MASTER FOR MATERIAL FOR WHICH BATCH NO. TO BE DETERMINED.
In the material master activate batch management button, this will automatically activate batch management under storage location views.
After maintaining all the data select
Classification tab
Enter the class = ZPD
Save the master data
DEFINE SORT RULE AND MAINTAIN BATCH DETERMINATION PROCEDURE
Menu path:
SAP menu ... logistics ... central functions... batch management ... batch determination ... selection and sort... sort rule create (CU70)
Enter sort sequence u2013 ZPD
Description u2013 sort rule production date
Select characteristic button (top left)
Enter the characteristic u2013 ZPD
Select either ascending or descending
Ascending check and save
Back
Same menu path Batch search strategy
Select "for sales and distribution"
Select create (VCH1) Select SD01 u2013 fixed selection
Select material ... continue
Enter your material master
Ex : COMP1.5 and
Click on sort  (Top) button
Sort rule u2013 ZPD
Back
Select selection criteria (top)
Enter the class u2013 ZPD
Back and save. Img settings (to be done first) Path :
Img ... logistic general ... batch management ... select batch determination and batch check ... select batch search procedure and check the activation ... allocate sd search procedure/activate check .... Select new entries
Assign sales areas EX:
Sorg  Dist.ch.  Div  Sales doc type  Search procedure  Check the batch 
V002  VD  V1  ZVOR  SD0001  CHECK 
VOO2  VD  V1  ZVOR  SD0001  CHECK  Save 
Back
Select activate automatic batch determination in sd click. Automatic batch determination for sales order items... select position- TAN check the auto batch determination ... CHECKS.

Click
Activate automatic batch determination for delivery item category.
Select ... position .... TAN
Auto batch determination .. check ... save.
Now stock the material using MB1C | Material | Qty | Une | Sloc | Batch |
Comp1.5  20      177   Save. After entering material quantity batch enter now in the popup maintain the production date (value u2013 30-10-2006) 30-10-2006. 
Create an order and check whether batch number is determined. Enter the customer and material now system will show the message in status bar that batch determination for line item 10 select the line item u2013 Select Sales u2013 A
System shows the batch number
Manual batch process  Select the icon batch determination 
If there is no batch with sufficient quantity scroll and select suitable batch and click copy button (top left) and proceed.
Now if the quantity from the 1stbatch has short fall select delivery proposal and back now select the line item and select the icon for batch determination or edit ... batch determination or control + F2
Now you can see the list of batches and available quantity.  Find out batch which meets the requirements; remove the quantity form earlier selection and fillip for new selection and copy. Best Regards,venkataswamy
