Batch editing ratings problems (Beatunes related)

Is there a windows script that would enable to batch edit ratings in both the iTunes library, and within each mp3?
Secondly, is there a way to enable half star ratings in the latest 64bit version of iTunes (running on 64bit Windows 8.1 Enterprise)?
I've never used half star ratings on my iTunes library, and upon reading, am not certain if this is possible anymore.
For the last few months, I've been using Beatunes to organize my large sized iTunes library, but seem to have hit some glitches related to ratings.
In short, when I access my Itunes library via Beatunes, about 5000 songs appear to have "1/2" in the rating field.
Itunes library seems to see these songs as having no rating.
Beatunes does not allow ratings to be edited, and since the 1/2 is not seen in iTunes, I would select all those songs and use an empty tag (such as "Show") and designate the value as "Half". In iTunes, I would then select the "Show" column, and highlight all the songs with "Half" in the "Show" column, right click, and change the rating value for all songs. For testing purposes, I changed all songs to have 2 stars. When I sync the Beatunes database to the iTunes database, eventually the Beatuens ratings change to 2 stars (sometimes, it takes a few syncs).
I would then go back to iTunes, right click on all selected songs, and change rating value to "None". Most ratings change to empty values, while some decide to take on hollow star values, which is really really annoying.
I then used Steve MacGuire's ClearTrackAutoRating script on those selected tracks:

When I sync the Beatunes database with the iTunes database, the songs I had rated 2 stars go back to "1/2" rating, and not an empty field.
I can't figure out what is triggering this.
I've started a thread in Beatunes forum (http://help.beatunes.com/discussions/problems/40759-half-star-ratings-problems), but figured I would start one here to ask for advice, or see if there are any other scripts I should consider trying. At this time, I have not heard back from the developer, as I just posted it a few hours ago.
One of the things I just tried doing was enabling iTunes to use half star ratings (so i could see the 1/2 rated songs would then show), but I have not been able to figure out how to do this. The most common way of altering iTunesPrefs.xml did not do anything for me:

This is confusing, because my prefs already contain the following at the end:
<key>storefront</key> <string>143455-6,17</string>
Am I supposed to keep my existent, and just add after, or do I replace what is there?

I've had a quick check and the iTunesPrefs.xml hack works for me to enable half-ratings. Tested on iTunes 11.1.5 running on Windows 7 32-bit, but no reason to expect platform differences. This build displays ½ rather than a half-star. Once enabled you can set half-ratings via the iTunes interface. I haven't set back yet but presumably they will disappear if I do.
The album and track ratin properties take a value from 0% to 100%. If 0% iTunes will offer a track-auto rating based on any manual album rating and an album auto-rating based upon manual track ratings. My scripts set a manual rating of 1% which iTunes treats as less than ½ and so displays as no rating, but it suppresses any auto-rating. Presumably Beatunes is treating anything from 1%-10% as ½ star, 11%-20% as 1 star, and so on. For iTunes from 0%-9% is no stars, 10%-19% is ½ star, 20%-29% is 1 star, etc., with bigger ranges when half-ratings are not enabled.
My scripts page already has ResetAlbumAutoRating and ResetTrackAutoRating scripts if you need to remove those 1% values, or you can simply set a new rating and then remove it.
What additional batch rating task do you have in mind?

Batch editing of iCal events

Hello, does anyone know how to batch edit multiple events in iCal?
Here is my senario. I have a new phone that I can sync with iCal but it does not understand all-day events. All other events sync without any issues. No problem, I will just change all-day events to a specific time. But the problem is that I have several calendars with a lot of reoccuring all-day events.
How can I change all of these to say midnight or two am or whatever? I looked through the stock and 3rd party automator actions but they pretty much just have searching, filtering or deleting, no batch editing.
Anyone have any applescripts that can do this?

Try this. Note IT HAS NOT BEEN TESTED so backup your calendars first. I think just changing from all day will give the events a start time, but if not you will need to set the start time as well.

Batch Editing with Photoshop Elements 4.0

I have an folder of photos which I would like to resize as a batch with Photoshop Elements 4.0. However, I am at a loss as to how to do it and am missing a step or two in my workflow.
I would appreciate any specific step by step suggestion that you may have.

You can set PSE as the external editor in the iPhoto preferences. iPhoto has the capability to directly interface with any external editor - simply go to the iPhoto preferences (iPhoto menu ==> preferences ==> General and set the Edit photo option to in external editor - select the desired external editor and you are set - now when you edit photos they are sent to the selected external editor and when you are finished editing you save (not save as) and the edited photo is returned to iPhoto, the original is maintained in iPhoto and the iPhoto database is correctly updated.
If you want the option of editing in either iPhoto or the external editor after selecting your external editor simply set the edit in back to main window - now when you right click (control Click) on a photo you will get a menu which allows you to select either.

Batch Editing in Photoshop CS4

Hey guys, i want to batch edit image from aperture using CS4. Specifically I have an action set up that changes size an applies logo. My query is, how to I tell CS4 that i want to batch images from Aperture? Without exporting to desktop or whatever from Aperture ideally. I'm looking at doing about 300 images a batch. (In their own albums)

I don't know that you can batch to CS4. It's usually a one-at-a-time edit.
For batch applying a logo, using Aperture's watermarking functionality would be an easy way to do this, without having to use Photoshop.

Problem using relative sizes on a HTMLtext

Note the javascript: void(0); is often use as a placeholder URL to indicate that an onclick event is tied to the link to do the actual action. 
If JavaScript is blocked for some reason then this javascript: void(0); links comes into view.
Make sure that you do not block JavaScript.

How can I edit batch edited photos from Photomatix in Lightroom?

I have been shooting some last week with my new Canon 70D in RAW and Jpeg and both come through just fine. I batch edited a series of photos in Photomtaix and imported into Lightroom and they all show up with a purple haze. They show up this way in Picasa too.
Here is a screenshot. I have exported from Photomatix as jpeg and as tiff but both look this way. Is there a setting I need to adjust in Lightroom?

No, this is one of the lines adobe has drawn to differentiate between PS and PSE. In PSE you can only run an action on one file at a time, not on a folder as in PS. It might be possible with an add-on like elements+, which claims to allow scripting for batch processing, but I've never tried that. Perhaps someone else will know for sure.

Batch editing in Iphoto

I have 2 different makes of camera which I take on holiday.When I transfer the photos into iphoto they have different prefixes on the filename as a result of being different makes.Is there anyway I can batch edit these photos to make Iphoto recognise the date and time they were taken in order that they can be viewed in chronological order?
I know that you can do it manually by changing each individual file name but it takes forever.Ive tried using the Namechanger app but all that seemed to do was alter the metadata resulting in me being unable to drag the photos out of iphoto causing me to have to do a time machine restore of the entire library.

I do not understand, why it is necessary to change the filenames to be able to view the photos in chronological order?
Have the cameras not been set to the same time? You can correct that by selecting all photos for each camera and using the command "Photos > Adjust date and time".
Once all photos are using the same time base, you can ad them to an album and arrange the album by date; this way the photos will be shown in chronological order.
Once you have the photos in an album in chronological order you can rename the versions using the command "Photos > Batch change > Set title to text" and enable to append a number. Then all photos will be named consistently. To change the original filenames you would have to export the images again and use the titles a filenames, but that should not be necessary.

Batch edit photos coming from iPhone 4s

I use iPhoto and iCloud to gather and organize photos taken with my new iPhone 4s. It works really well apart from the fact that when compared to pictures taken with my DSLR the iPhone photos are too "warm". I would like to make a standard adjustement of the temperature for all photos coming from the iPhone. Is there a way to do this in iPhoto, with a batch edit f.i.? If not, are there other tools that can help? I would like to keep the workflow as simple as possible. All suggestions are welcome.

No changes appear when batch editing Camera Raw Files and saving as jpegs

When I batch edit my raw files, including saving the file as a jpeg, from bridge or photoshop the resulting file saved never includes any changes I made in the Camera Raw editor. For example if I have lightened the photo by changing the exposure in Camera Raw as a saved jpeg after batching the file is still as dark as when originally shot. Is there some little box I forgot to check or something? Thanks!

I've seen something like this, but have not figured out why yet. In my situation I select a group of images in Bridge and go to Tools / Photoshop / Image Processor.
There I click the "open first image to apply settings" box.
Save in Same Location
Save as JPEG, resize to fit (1200 pixels), Convert Profile to sRGB.
No Action selected
Include ICC Profile
Run it and in Camera Raw roll the saturation down to -100 (convert to b&W).
Click "Open Image"
The process runs and the first image is converted to b&w, but the others are not.

How to Batch edit fields in IPTC Core under Inspector's Metadata tab?

Hi guys,
For some reason there is erroneous info in some of the fields and I cannot remember how it got there - therefore I don't know how to batch edit it out.
Can you help? I tried everything at the Apple store with a trainer by my side but we could not find a way to do it.

Are you familiar with the batch change command (cmd-shift-b)?
You'll be given the option to create a new metadata preset. Pick the IPTC fields that you need to change.
Be careful with the "Append" vs. "Replace" option!

You want Program Files (x86)
That's where the 32 bit programs such as photoshop cs3 are on a windows 7 64 bit system.
Also, in bridge cs3 under Edit>Preferences>Thumbnails ensure Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for Jpeg and Tiff files is checked.
(then restart bridge cs3)

To batch edit , with our lift and stamp

is it possible to batch edit all my images with AUTO level, so that each pic will be edited independent RATHER than lift adjustment and Stamp the same adjustment , which will not work cause each pic needs a different level and white balance,,

I don't want to delete any of the IPTC info.
I just want to lift Caption from IPTC and leave any other IPTC info untouched in both images (lifted and stamped)
So the image I'm lifting has a different provider from the one I want to stamp but the should all have the same caption. How can I only lift and stamp the caption?
