BATCH EXPORT WORKFLOW ??

Hello,
I got several sequences I'd like to export each of them in several part for each sequences.
The problem when I select my work area then put the sequence in "Render Queue" and then select another work are in the same sequence to put it Render Queue as well, since I always drag the same sequence in Queue to export my section of sequence when I change the work area for one it changes for every otther in queue.
How do I do that without work area of items in queue becoming same as every new items I add in queue of same sequence ?
There's too much stuff to render to allow me to do them one by one I need to be bale to batch process this.
Thank you.

> When you talking about duplicates you mean duplicate sequences or duplicates queued items ?
I was referring to duplicating a render item.
Add a composition to the render queue. Set up all of the settings for one of you custom time spans. Duplicate this render item as many times as you want. In each duplicate render item in the render queue, set the time span to be rendered to a different custom span.
Also, you need to be careful with your terminology. I am interpreting you to mean 'composition' when you say 'sequence'. There is no concept of "sequence" in After Effects (except in terms of an image sequence, which is a totally different thing).

  • Action batch export issue with image trace

So, currently I'm working on batch processing jpeg sequences using illustrator's image trace and distortion effects. I have batch exported the image traces of the sequences via Adobe bridge.  Now I'm trying to create an action which opens the .ai files containing those image traces, apply a graphic style to the trace, and export a png from that.  I'm banging my head against the wall trying to get this to work right now. If I do the steps (step by step... not using a recorded action) I want on a single file, it works great, but the moment I batch export using the action I've created, it puts the original .png image that the image trace was linked to, on top of the image. The result is a bunch of .png exports that look exactly like my original image sequence.  If I add a "save" function to the action and open the resulting .ai files, I can see that the image trace vectors are in the file. The "linked png" however visible on the layer above those vectors.  Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? How do I get rid of that pesky linked image.
Also, for anyone who might be thinking that it has something to do with expanding the image trace before applying effects, this issue I'm running into, I've determined, is happening higher up in the hierarchy of the actions... If I simply make an action to open the image trace illustrator file and save it back out, the same issue occurs... placing the .png "linked file" on top of the vector image.
While I'm at it, I might as well ask if anyone knows how to change the illustrator default image trace preset.... Without being able to change it, or much less specify in the action sequence that I'd like to use a user created image trace preset rather than the default setting, it's greatly overcomplicating my workflow. Makes what could easily be one-step batch processing into two. Seems pretty silly if you ask me.
Please, if you guys have any insights on this, let me know. It's super frustrating... By the way, if you're wondering what type of effect I'm going for, the idea (as well as some explanation into their own process) starts at 12:44 of this video (http://vimeo.com/77427470).
    THANKS!

Just wanted to let you guys know, for anyone who might be having my same issue... My home computer, even after a fresh install of Illustrator, was still placing the linked jpeg over the traced vector shapes when batch exporting... I did however find a workaround.  Rather than using Bridge CS6 for the batch image tracing, I used Bridge CS5 to trace in Illustrator CS5. Then, I used Illustrator CS6 to batch export an action that imported and applied an effect to those image traced sequences.  When you do this, it forces you to expand the tracing on import (because of the difference in Illustrator versions I'm assuming).  This way, when you batch run the action, it's already working with expanded vector shapes.  Not sure why this works, but it does.
Also, I was having some issues getting Illustrator to apply the graphic style when batch exporting. I got it to work by copying an object with that particular graphic style to the clipboard, then adding in the action I was running a "paste" command, followed by a "clear" command.  I can only assume that Illustrator was having issues loading custom graphics styles while batch exporting. The paste/delete technique is annoying, but gets it done.
Anyways. Just wanted to check in on this one. I'm happy I was able to muscle my way through it all.

  • Can you batch export in FCP X, can you batch export in FCP X

I work for a business and am constantly working on projects that have multiple, separate projects within the same project. because of this I do all my editing during my business day and then when I leave for the day, I used to batch export the projects and the next morning I would come into work and be able to move onto the next thing. so far in FCP X I have not been able to find out how to do that. I know that in FCP 7 you could do it obviously, but I'm wondering...does FCP X have that same capability because I can't seem to find it and I don't really have the time to waste by exporting during the day.
    Thanks for your help,
    Scotty

    Hey Scotty,
Andynick is correct about the batch export workaround.  The way I do it is this:
    1.     Go to the Project Library
    2.     Select the first project you want to export
    3.     Go to file>Send to Compressor. (I set a shortcut -Sift>Option>C from preferences, If you need help with that let me know.
    4.     Repeat this process for each project
    5.     Go to Compressor (it will already be open)
    6.     Now here's where it gets kind of anoying, You need to choose which batch you want to make your main one. Pull off the tab on top and drag that project into your prefered batch, then close the old tab.  Now you'll have two projects in your chosen batch.
    7.     repeat that process for the rest of the batches Compressor created.  When you're done you should only have one batch open with all of your projects in it.
    8.     Submit the batch and let Compressor do it's thang.
    Things to note:
When you send a project to compressor, it will automatically choose your default settings and location.  If you want them to be different you'll have to do it mannually or change your defaults before you begin this process.
FUN right! Hopefully Apple will fix this so you can at least select multiple projects in the Project Library to make it a bit easier.
If anyone has a better workflow I am all ears!

  • Premiere CS5 Batch Export and Sony PMW-EX1R

    Hey Guys!
I have multiple sequences that I need to batch export, and was wondering if there's some kind of plugin that I can use in order to do so.
Normally, I would have to select each sequence, press Command M and place it into the render queue for Media Encoder. Is there a way I can do this by selecting a batch of sequences by highlighting them and send them into the Media Encoder's Render Queue at once, rather than individually?
Also, we film on a Sony XDCAM PMW-EX1R and need a workflow to help us out with compression.
We're working on MAC PRO's and so Media Encoder doesn't have a WMV compression setting for our computers, and the MOV settings give us weird bugs on our website. So to work around this we use Compressor to compress a raw file into various MOV and WMV movies and use Media Encoder to encode F4V files.
We export from Media Encoder in h.264 with a .mp4 extension to try and replicate what our camera shoots in, but I have a feeling that that might not be the correct format to do this in because Compressor gives us this weird Frame issue where it places a single random Frame at the very beginning of our video.
Is there a better export option for Sony XDCAM PMW-EX1R users that will give us a fairly small file size and also have great quality to match our original footage, as well as not having us have to wait long periods of time for export?
    We've tried
    Quicktime ProRes 422
    Quicktime Uncompressed
    Animation
    Jpeg Sequence
And they all gave us extremely large file sizes (which I understood since they're lossless) and H.264 seemed to give us as big of a file size as FCP did with it's MOV files which is what we're trying to do.

So you're saying that I basically have to pick either using a file that isn't good for delivering content, or selecting a file that's big in size and long to export?
Well, look at it this way: if you want the highest quality output, you want to start with the highest quality source. If you're exporting from Premiere or through AME to a deliverable file--like a WMV or an H.264 MP4--you're all set, because you're accessing the original source media and unrendered effects as they exist in the Premiere Pro sequence. If you're exporting from a different app, you want the most pristine source file to create your deliverable.
Let's say you make apple juice. If you get whole apples from the orchard and press them, you make some mighty delicious juice. However, if you're trying to cut down on shipping costs, and you have the farmer smash the apples into chunky apple sauce so that you can fit more apples in the same amount of space, you can still make juice... but it won't be quite as tasty It's sort of the same with encoding...
An intermediate file will take up more space, because it's uncompressed (or less compressed), but it shouldn't take as long to generate, either--again, because you're not compressing it or you're compressing it less than your final deliverable. Obviously, there are dozens of codecs you could potentially use, so there's a fair bit of experimentation you need to do to determine the best combination for your purposes. There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to encoding, unfortunately; it's a path fraught with compromises.

  • Batch export

in fcpx is there a way to btach export multiply timelines from the project library, I have just done another fashion shoot and have roughly 200 timelines and if I have to go in and export each one individually this is stupid!
in fcp 7 I could batch out multiply timelines!

First, I would have exported each one as they were finished.  No, there is not batch export yet, but I'm sure we'll see one eventually.  Good news is that you can create your own custom Share preset.  Then in the Project Library, you'd have to export eacy one to that preset, which is fast.  You don't have to wait for each to finish, just keep exporting.  But waiting until 200 Projects are done before exporting is simply not the best workflow.  With that much bulk, even in FCP 7, I'd have exported each one as they were finished.

  • Batch Export Slideshows?  Automator?

I have about 15 lengthy slideshows to export to .mov files, this takes a while for each one. Is there anyway I can make it batch export so I don't have to keep hopping back to my computer to set the next one to export? Automator looks like a promising tool for this, but I'm not sure how to make it select a different slideshow each time and give it a different name? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

No you can't batch them all at once because Quicktime is used for rendering the slideshow and it's a one at a time operation. It might be done with Applescript but you'd have to ask over in the Applescript forum for help with that.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Batch Exporting  Color Corrected Clips, QT issues

    Hello,
I work for a small ad company with a couple guys on the road shooting video, a video editor(me) and a few graphic designers. For company workflow reasons I take video footage from guys on the road and export to Quicktime movies(5-50 per client, 5-10 sec. apiece) and give to graphic designers, they then use After Effects and Motion to lay graphics on and lay out vid for ad.
    1. I generally capture the whole tape.
    2. I select Ins/Outs from that tape and make (lets say) 50 clips in timeline.
    3. I make all clips independant and rename in order 1-50
    4. (THIS IS WHERE PROBLEM STEMS) I color correct all clips using 3 wheel color corrector
    5. I pull all 50 clips (numbered, color corrected) into a client bin
    6. Right Clip bin, Batch export.
    7. Check Use In/ Out , Make Self Contained, Prefix .Mov, Quicktime movie using MPEG 4compressor, best quality, and set destination.
    8. Hit Export
The result is a Quicktime Movie that has sound but is frozen on first frame of video.
Normally this process works perfect and I have no issues with QT. Step 4 is something that I would like to incorporate but everytime I try I get the issues with Quicktime.
Thanks ahead of time for help, hope I gave someone enough to go off of.
    I.V.

If you drag the clips from the timeline to a bin and select them all and choose batch export and set the option to export in to out, it should work.  Not sure about the naming option, but I suspect it'll work.  Do a test first.

  • Batch export of multiple clips from one video in Premiere CS4

    Hello,
I'm really in a bind and hope you guys can help me out. I have about 30 hours of video in about 30 mpg files..1 hour in each video. I need to splice out small clips from each video..anywhere from 10 to 20 clips in each and send them to Media Encoder to store as video files I can then re-use. In CS3 I can do this manually one clip at a time ..set In point, Out point and then export. This however takes a very very long time....set the ins/outs, then export, then wait, then repeat..very tedious
In CS4 can i set multiple ins/outs for the entire video and then have premiere go to work and do a batch export? Or is there another way of doing this? I have about a week left to get this done and at a total of about 450 clips to export each 2-5 mins for encoding this will take forever...plase help!
    Stan

It wont do exazctly what you want but.... But the batch encoding should save you some time since you can continue to work while it encodes/exports.
Do you need to make more than one output type? Like DV, WMV, FLV... for each one? If so, I suggest this workflow:
    1. Open source file 1 in Source monitor set in and out, ctrl drag subclip to a folder in the project panel.
    2. Repeat step 1 for any other subclips needed from source clip 1
    3. When done with first source clip go into bin where you put your subclips click on them one at a time and do export/media to your lowest compressed need (like DV AVI for example); it will be added to AME queue
    4. Repeat step 3 for all subclips, then click start queue.
    5. While AME is exporting all the subclips for your first source clip, repeat steps 1-3 on source clip 2...
When you are all done; if you need to make multiple output types for each file; Do (IN AME) File>New>Watch Folder
Create a Watch folder for each output type you want. Then simply copy all the exported clips you want inot each of these folders and AME will process them all for you in batch.
It doesnt do exactly what you wished for; but should save you a few buckets of time.

  • Batch export of iMovie clips

I'm looking for a means of simplifying the workflow of creating individual quicktime files of the "events" in my home videos. I'm currently using iMovie to capture and edit the video into a series of "events" (e.g., soccer game, birthday party,...), set off by the iDVD Chapter markers. At this stage in the workflow I would like to run a batch process that would do an export of each such chapter into its own quicktime file. I have not been able to find an iMovie plug-in that can do this. Nor have I found another program (e.g., handbrake, JES deinterlacer) than can "read" the iMovie .mov file (hiding in the Package) and interpret the Chapter markers appropriately... Any suggestions? Perhaps I should use another program (Final Cut Express?) instead of iMovie?

    Hi joe bloe,
It is similar.  And then my question is: how do I get all the clips on the timeline into a bin in one drag and drop (not one at a time)?  And once it's in the bin, what are the menu steps to batch export?
I have a vague memory of using the Media Encoder to batch out some clips several days ago - but can't remember if they came directly from a Premiere timeline...
Apologies.  I'm in the middle of a complicated job, with three different type cameras going, two of which I haven't used before, and thus my brain is a bit fried for searching through manuals.

  • Batch Export now possible?

I read in an old thread, that it was not possible, but how about in ver. 10.1.+?
I am testing ver. 10.1.2 now and for me it would be very important.
My workflow in FCP 7.3 is:
I put many individual clips in the timeline, color correct them all via copy/paste them and create a batch list and export all the clips in the batch folder individual with their original filename.
That means, I can do something else or even have it run over night if there are many.
This is the only way I handle high volume of clips.
I know in the early ver. 10.0. xxx it was not possible.
    Hopefully, Apple added this option.
    Thanks

You can queue up multiple projects and/or clips during the export process. In other words, you can export one project and then another, without waiting for the prior project to complete.
What you can't do is select multiple projects and then hit the Share button and get multiple output files.
Compressor will, of course, process batches; it's a primary reason for having the program. But you cannot select multiple files in FCP and send to Compressor.
Here is a tutorial that illustrates a  kind of faux batch export process.

  • Batch export text from multiple Indesign files, applying em and strong tags

    Hi there,
I am struggling for a while now with the following workflow:
batch exporting all text (text only) as plain text, from multiple Indesign files, applying <em> and <strong> for all the bold and italics (for instance: Molluptas verion <strong>nossum</strong> idist <em>doluptatet</em> maiorerum quiaspienit, cum erferiosapis eos expe nonsequas verumquae dolor sim eos doluptatiur autet lab idicili beatum deliquat).
Properly tagging the styles, will be too time consuming, as these documents are as old as 1998, have inconsistent untagged styles; it will mean to manually open up each file, assign tags for all styles (not to mention that might be some local overwrites).
This task is necessary to have all the archive, available on wordpress website.
Any feedback would be much appreciated it.
    Thanks.

There may well be a script or you may have pay someone to write it. All I can tell you is that any text not mapped to a style will be a mess in the HTML code.
Can’t comment on Quark files. I have no clue what they’re capable of.

  • API for batch export to CMS

    Hello Experts,
I am trying to locate an API that could replicate the features of the publishing wizard, but for local wid files - ie, batch export local wid files to BOE.
    Is this possible?
    Regards,
    Bobby

Does anyone have an Automator workflow or script that will give the same result as we can get from Quick Time Pro when we chose Export to Apple TV?Here is a RippleCast which may be of interest to you. You can open it directly in the QT Player using the "Open URL" File option:
    http://homepage.mac.com/jrwalker4/.Public/Automator for the People.mp4/
In addition. remember that QT Pro is designed for parallel processing natively. You can, of course, open multiple source files and export them simultaneously rather than opting to "sequentially" process one file at a time, one file after the other. This approach does not save any time since each file is individually processed more slowly but has about the same effect as batch processing the same number of files sequentially. I usually just close the players and leave the multiple "Progress Bar" window open to monitor activity (or just go to bed) while QT is working.

  • How do i change the size of a clip using batch export?

hi, when i try and do a batch export to change my clips from a DV PAL to PhotoJpeg 320*240 sized clips the "options" button is greyed out. so all i have as export settings are the QT presets in a pulldown list. is there any way i can create my own setting? (and the also save that?)
    thx

    what i'm seeing is that
    a) selecting all files in Media Man. gives me the option to size and set codecs but not the audio off.
    b) selecting all files in Batch Export allows me to pick a format (QT, aiff etc) choose a preset (photoJpeg included) select whether to include audio and video or both but not set the size or customize the QT settings
    c) selecting all clips then "file>export>using QT conversion" gives me all options, but seem to grab only the first clip.

  • Is there a way to select multiple sequences and batch export them using the same settings in CS6?

I am a current Final Cut Pro7 user and looking to switch over to Premiere Pro CS6.  We edit approx. 100 short (15 sec.) videos daily, and then select them all at the end of the day and batch export them over night using the same export recipe for all. I have having trouble finding an easy way to do this in Premiere pro CS6, as command +E is grayed out if i select more than one sequence at a time.
so far, it appears that i have to select each video individually and manually set encoding recipe and export location for each....  Not only would this be terribly time consuming, but it leaves a lot of room for error and missed videos.  I thought i would be able to send all of the sequences to Adobe Media Encoder,  but i dont see that option either.
    Any suggestions/
    thanks!

Open Media Encoder and add your Sequences:
File > Add Premiere Pro Sequence
Navigate to your Premiere Project and select it in the list.
You can then select multiple Sequences from the Project (Ctrl+Click)
and load them all at once into Media Encoder and apply
the same encoding preset to all Sequences at the same time.
