Batch File & MySQL

I am using CFExecute to launch a batch file to interact with
another application via the command line. Within the batchfile I
would like perform some logic and one set is to Update a record in
MySQL database. Basically what I want to do is something like this
but I know this is the right syntax.
C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\MySQL.exe" -u
root -p123456
USE: MyDataBase;
UPDATE candidatejobboard SET SubmissionStatus=3 WHERE
JobBoardSubmissionID=39;

Somewhere in there you need a connect string. I don't know
how to do it with windows/MySql, but I'll show you how to do it
with unix/redbrick. It might illuminate a light bulb over someone's
head.
echo "
your sql goes here
" | risql -d database_name user_name password 2>
file_of_your_choice
in that example, risql is the program that connects to the
db.

  • MySQLDump and Batch Files

    Hello all,
    I've been using the mysql connector package to populate and retrieve data from a mysql database. Two questions. First, I have recently become very fond of the mysqldump feature attached with the mysql package. Is there a way to call somthing like that from my connector module? ... or any other mysql "-esque" commands for that matter? (ie show tables, show create table someTable) ...
    I know that the first command I issue is actually a "USE myDatabaseName" to point the connector module at the correct databse. If the USE command is a mysql command, then I'm lead to believe that commands like SHOW will also be legit. However, what would the return structure be? ... would that also be some kind of ResultSet?
    Anyway the other question would be about the execution of batch files like the ones a mysqldump command would generate. I know that I am able to open the dumped text file and populate and run the commands via the methods:
    addBatch(String sql)throws SQLException // to populate
    executeBatch() // to run.. but is there a method that already does that?
    Thanks in advance
    -Curt

    Hi,
    Try Runtime.getRuntime().exec("batchfile.bat");
    Check out Class Runtime for more info.

  • Incorporating .jar files into Batch files

    Hello, I've created an application that requires .jar files to operate correctly. I was able to get them into eclipse, which made me happy. I was able to figure out how to get them into a .html file when I went to put it on the web which made me even happier. But, then I discovered that I cannot use a html file to call it because of the security access exceptions that are ensued by placing the application on the web. I've come to the conclusion that I will use a Batch file (.bat) to run the app. The way I knew how to get them into the html file was to use:
    <applet code="MYCLASS.class" archive="MYCLASS_JARFILE.jar">
    </applet>Now I need to figure out how to achieve the same effect as that into a batch file that uses:
    java MYCLASSAny help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    The applet uses I/O from a MySQL server. When launching it through the website (Not where the database is hosted from) the applet causes the following exception:
    java.net.SocketException: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission 127.0.0.1:3306 connect,resolve)The applet in the end will be placed on the same server as the database but I was unsure if this issue would still persist, assuming it would I converted the applet into and executable JAR file and run it through the batch file which does not cause the same error.
    I read up on the signing applets and such and saw in most forums and articles, that it was a hard way to go and was a hassle. I also found out other articles advocating the use of applet--->servlet--->database however, I know very little about servlets. Currently I only have a semester of Java and have been constantly practicing it since the end of the semester. I learned MySQL and how to use it and right now I have an applet that stores and reads data from the MySQL server I've set up on my home network and uses a java applet GUI to allow manipulation of the data.

  • Batch file couldn't executes by SQL server agent

    I had a batch file which have pscp command and plink command. If i executes the job it goes into infinite loop and executing forever. I tried many things and checked many forums. All forums says we need to create proxy account in SQL server then only we
    can execute the batch file using SQL server agent. But i use another workaround to resolve the issue.
    Find below the step:
    1. We need to create one text file and write "yes" into it. This is useful to give the indicator to batch file that this is a trust full command and command can be execute in cmd.
    2. We had below command in batch file
    pscp -pw Wa5nea2Hag9z C:\Projects\UDM\Hadoop_aggregation\Sessionlog_source_file\application_events_latest.csv  [email protected]:/var/lib/mysql/csv_files/ >> C:\Projects\UDM\Hadoop_aggregation\log.txt
    then i have just include "< C:\Projects\UDM\Hadoop_aggregation\test.txt" after pascp command
    like below:
    pscp -pw Wa5nea2Hag9z C:\Projects\UDM\Hadoop_aggregation\Sessionlog_source_file\application_events_latest.csv < C:\Projects\UDM\Hadoop_aggregation\test.txt [email protected]:/var/lib/mysql/csv_files/ >> C:\Projects\UDM\Hadoop_aggregation\log.txt
    The above command executes fine.
    Thanks

  • Problem on using batch file

    Hi,
    I have an application which reads data from a text and writes them to a database. I should use batch files in my project to work classes with double clicking on them. Java application reads path of the text file from a properties file. I used relative paths like that " ..\\data\\records.txt" for text file path . But my problem is that; when I run application normally it executes. But when I tried to run it from batch file placed build folder(under project folder) it does not work. Because it tries to find the data folder under the build folder. But data folder is under parent folder of build folder. My batch file code is like that :
    SET PATH=%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%PATH%
    SET LIB_PATH=..\lib
    SET CLASSPATH=%LIB_PATH%\mysql-connector-java-3.0.17-ga-bin.jar;..\bin;..\
    java.exe yega.timesheet.MainApplication ..\\configuration\\properties.props
    pause
    Which statements should I add(and where) to make this batch file search for data folder under its parent folder... Please help me.
    Thank you.

    Thanks Paul, but I tried to use cd before running program. I added "cd .." or "cd ..\" lines to batch file but they didn't work. I decided to use absolute path instead of using relative paths. I also found one more solution. I can put a properties file in build too. And define text path as " ..\\data\\records.txt " in this properties file.
    Also I need to use "\\" because "..\\configuration\\properties.props" is the input for args...

  • Running a java program via a batch file

    I am unable to run a java program from a batch file that I created.
    spiderpackage.EntryPoint is a class file which I am trying to run with a -v option to output something.What should I do to get the output?
    echo ^<html^>^<body^>
    echo hello^<br^>
    call java spiderpackage.EntryPoint -v
    echo ^</body^>^</html^>

    This has nothing to do with java programming. Have a look at the windows help for the call command.
    The echo <html> stuff doesn't make sense. What's it for?
    The command in you batch file should be:
    java -cp . spiderpackage.EntryPoint -v
    assuming that java is in the system path, and the EntryPoint.class is in a directory called spiderpackage which is a subdirectory of your current working directory

  • Guide to External Jobs on 10g with dbms_scheduler e.g. scripts,batch files

    GUIDE TO RUNNING EXTERNAL JOBS ON 10g WITH DBMS_SCHEDULER
    NOTE: Users using 11g should use the new method of specifying a credential which eliminates many of the issues mentioned in this note.
    This guide covers several common questions and problems encountered when using
    dbms_scheduler to run external jobs, either on Windows or on UNIX.
    What operating system (OS) user does the job run as ?
    External jobs which have a credential (available in 11g) run as the user
    specified in the credential. But for jobs without credentials including
    all jobs in 10gR1 and 10gR2 there are several cases.
    - On UNIX systems, in releases including and after 10.2.0.2 there is a file $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora . All external jobs not in the SYS schema and with no credential run as the user and group specified in this file. This should be nobody:nobody by default.
    - On UNIX systems, in releases prior to 10.2.0.2 there was no "externaljob.ora" file. In this case all external jobs not in the SYS schema and with no credential run as the owner and group of the $ORACLE_HOME/bin/extjob file which should be setuid and setgid. By default extjob is owned by nobody:nobody except for oracle-xe where it is owned by oracle:oraclegroup and is not setuid/setgid.
    - On Windows, external jobs not in the SYS schema and with no credential run as the user that the OracleJobScheduler Windows service runs as. This service must be started before these jobs can run.
    - In all releases on both Windows and UNIX systems, external jobs in the SYS schema without a credential run as the oracle user.
    What errors are reported in SCHEDULERJOB_RUN_DETAILS views ?
    If a job fails, the first place to look for diagnostic information is the SCHEDULERJOB_RUN_DETAILS set of views. In 10gR2 and up the first 200 characters of the standard error stream is included in the additional_info column.
    In all releases, the error number returned by the job is converted into a
    system error message (e.g. errno.h on UNIX or net helpmsg on Windows) and that
    system error message is recorded in the additional info column. If there is no
    corresponding message the number is displayed.
    In 11g and up the error number returned by the job is additionally recorded in
    the error# column. In earlier releases 27369 would always be recorded in the
    error# column.
    Generic Issues Applicable to UNIX and Windows
    - The job action (script or executable) must return 0 or the job run will be marked as failed.
    - Always use the full pathname to executables and scripts.
    - Do not count on environment variables being set in your job. Make sure that the script or executable that your jobs runs sets all required environment variables including ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, PATH etc.
    - It is not recommended to pass in a complete command line including arguments as the action. Instead it is recommended to pass in only the path to and name of the executable and to pass in arguments as job argument values.
    - Scripts with special characters in the execution path or script name may give problems.
    - Ensure that the OS user your job runs as has the required privileges/permissions to run your job. See above for how to tell who the job runs as.
    - External job actions cannot contain redirection operators e.g. > < >> | && ||
    - In general try getting a simple external job working first e.g. /bin/echo or ipconfig.exe on Windows. Also try running the job action directly from the commandline as the OS user that the job will run as.
    Windows-specific Issues
    - The OracleJobScheduler Windows service must be started before external jobs will run (except for jobs in the SYS schema and jobs with credentials).
    - The user that the OracleJobScheduler Windows service runs as must have the "Log on as batch job" Windows privilege.
    - A batch file (ending in .bat) cannot be called directly by the Scheduler. Instead cmd.exe must be used and the name of the batch file passed in as an argument. For example
    begin
    dbms_scheduler.create_job('myjob',
       job_action=>'C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CMD.EXE',
       number_of_arguments=>3,
       job_type=>'executable', enabled=>false);
    dbms_scheduler.set_job_argument_value('myjob',1,'/q');
    dbms_scheduler.set_job_argument_value('myjob',2,'/c');
    dbms_scheduler.set_job_argument_value('myjob',3,'c:\temp\test.bat');
    dbms_scheduler.enable('myjob');
    end;
    /- In 10gR1 external jobs that wrote to standard output or standard error streams would sometimes return errors. Redirect to files or suppress all output and error messages when using 10gR1 to run external jobs.
    UNIX-specific Issues
    - When running scripts, make sure that the executable bit is set.
    - When running scripts directly, make sure that the first line of the script in a valid shebang line - starting with "#!" and containing the interpreter for the script.
    - In release 10.2.0.1, jobs creating a large amount of standard error text may hang when running (this was fixed in the first 10.2.0.2 patchset). If you are seeing this issue, redirect standard error to a file in your job. This issue has been seen when running the expdp utility which may produce large amounts of standard error text.
    - the user that the job runs as (see above section) must have execute access on $ORACLE_HOME/bin and all parent directories. If this is not the case the job may be reported as failed or hang in a running state. For example if your $ORACLE_HOME is /opt/oracle/db then you would have to make sure that
    chmod a+rx /opt
    chmod a+rx /opt/oracle
    chmod a+rx /opt/oracle/db
    chmod a+rx /opt/oracle/db/bin
    - On oracle-xe, the primary group of your oracle user (if it exists) must be dba before you install oracle-xe for external jobs to work. If you have an oracle user from a regular Oracle installation it may have the primary group set to oinstall.
    - On oracle-xe, the extjobo executable is missing so external jobs in the SYS schema will not work properly. This can be fixed by copying the extjob executable to extjobo in the same directory ($ORACLE_HOME/bin).
    - Check that correct permissions are set for external job files - extjob and externaljob.ora (see below)
    Correct permissions for extjob and externaljob.ora on UNIX
    There is some confusion as to what correct permissions are for external job related files.
    In 10gR1 and 10.2.0.1 :
    - rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora should not exist
    - bin/extjob should be setuid and setgid 6550 (r-sr-s---). It should be owned by the user that jobs should run as and by the group that jobs should run as.
    - bin/extjobo should have normal 755 (rwxr-xr-x) permissions and be owned by oracle:oraclegroup
    In 10.2.0.2 and higher
    - rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora file must must be owned by root:oraclegroup and be writable only by the owner i.e. 644 (rw-r--r--) It must contain at least two lines: one specifying the run-user and one specifying the run-group.
    - bin/extjob file must be also owned by root:oraclegroup but must be setuid i.e. 4750 (-rwsr-x---)
    - bin/extjobo should have normal 755 (rwxr-xr-x) permissions and be owned by oracle:oraclegroup
    In 11g and higher
    Same as 10.2.0.2 but additionally bin/jssu should exist with root setuid
    permissions i.e. owned by root:oraclegroup with 4750 (-rwsr-x---)
    Internal Error numbers for UNIX on 10.2.0.2 or 10.1.0.6 or higher
    If you are not using a credential and are using version 10.2.0.2 or higher or 10.1.0.6 or higher you may come across an internal error number. Here are the meanings for the internal error numbers.
    274661 - can't get owner of or permissions of externaljob.ora file
    274662 - not running as root or externaljob.ora file is writable by group or other or externaljob.ora file not owned by root (can't switch user)
    274663 - setting the group or effective group failed
    274664 - setting the user or effective user failed
    274665 - a user or group id was not changed successfully
    274666 - cannot access or open externaljob.ora file
    274667 - invalid run_user specified in externaljob.ora file
    274668 - invalid run_group specified in externaljob.ora file
    274669 - error parsing externaljob.ora file
    274670 - extjobo is running as root user or group

    Hi Ravi,
    Can you help me...
    Hi All,
    I planned to create a job to do rman backup daily at 04:00 AM.
    1. I created a program as follows
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_PROGRAM(
    program_name => 'rman_backup_prg',
    program_action => '/u02/rmanback/rman.sh',
    program_type => 'EXECUTABLE',

    END;
    my rman script is
    #!/usr/bin/ksh
    export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1

    ress=n buffer=400000
    compress *.dmp
    exit
    2. I created a schedule as follows
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_SCHEDULE(
    schedule_name => 'rman_backup_schedule',
    start_date => SYSTIMESTAMP,
    end_date => '31-DEC-16 05.00.00 AM',
    repeat_interval => 'FREQ=DAILY; BYHOUR=4',
    comments => 'Every day at 4 am');
    END;
    3. I created ajob as follows.
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB (
    job_name => 'rman_backup_job',
    program_name => 'rman_backup_prg',
    schedule_name => 'rman_backup_schedule',
    enabled=> true,
    auto_drop=> false
    END;
    While I am running the job I am getting the following error anybody help me.
    ORA-27369: job of type EXECUTABLE failed with exit code: Not owner

  • PL/SQL w/ Java to run OS batch file crashes Oracle

    I followed instructions from "Ask Tom" on using PL/SQL with Java to execute an OS batch file. For testing purposes, my batch file does nothing more than display the date and time from the OS.
    However, when I run the PL/SQL that executes this simple batch file repeatedly - anywhere from two to four times, the Oracle instance crashes abruptly. Nothing is written to the alert log. No trace files are created.

    The only thing I really changed was the reurn value from the java procedure. If it has a return value then it should be declared as a function, not a procedure. Since you probably (apparently) weren't using the return value I dropped it and made it a procedure.

  • Executing batch file from Java stored procedure hang

    Dears,
    I'm using the following code to execute batch file from Java Stored procedure, which is working fine from Java IDE JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.
    public static String runFile(String drive)
    String result = "";
    String content = "echo off\n" + "vol " + drive + ": | find /i \"Serial Number is\"";
    try {
    File directory = new File(drive + ":");
    File file = File.createTempFile("bb1", ".bat", directory);
    file.deleteOnExit();
    FileWriter fw = new java.io.FileWriter(file);
    fw.write(content);
    fw.close();
    // The next line is the command causing the problem
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /c " + file.getPath());
    BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
    String line;
    while ((line = input.readLine()) != null)
    result += line;
    input.close();
    file.delete();
    result = result.substring( result.lastIndexOf( ' ' )).trim();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    result = e.getClass().getName() + " : " + e.getMessage();
    return result;
    The above code is used in getting the volume of a drive on windows, something like "80EC-C230"
    I gave the SYSTEM schema the required privilege to execute the code.
    EXEC DBMS_JAVA.grant_permission('SYSTEM', 'java.io.FilePermission', '&lt;&lt;ALL FILES&gt;&gt;', 'read ,write, execute, delete');
    EXEC DBMS_JAVA.grant_permission('SYSTEM', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'writeFileDescriptor', '');

    [http://oracle.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/oracle-jdeveloper-l/run-an-exe-file-using-oracle-database-trigger-1567662]
    I have posted this in JDeveloper forum ([t-853821]) but suggested to post for forum in DB.
    Can anyne help?

    Dear Peter,
    You are totally right, I got this as mistake copy paste. I'm just having a Java utility for running external files outside Oracle DB, this is the method runFile()
    I'm passing it the content of script and names of file to be created on the fly and executed then deleted, sorry for the mistake in creating caller function.
    The main point, how I claim that the line in code where creating external process is the problem. I have tried the code with commenting this line and it was working ok, I made this to make sure of the permission required that I need to give to the schema passing security permission problems.
    The function script is running perfect if I'm executing vbs script outside Oracle using something like "cscript //NoLogo aaa1.vbs", but when I use the command line the call just never returns to me "cmd.exe /c bb1.bat".
    where content of bb1.bat as follows:
    echo off
    vol C: | find /i "Serial Number is"
    The above batch file just get the serial number of hard drive assigned when windows formatted HD.
    Same code runs outside Oracle just fine, but inside Oracle doesn't return if I exectued the following:
    variable serial1 varchar2(1000);
    call A1( 'C' ) into :serial1;
    Never returns
    Thanks for tracing teh issue to that details ;) hope you coul help.

  • How to edit a line in a file using a batch file??????

    Basically i want to edit one line in a properties file, using a batch file, Here is what it says
    #Minecraft server properties
    #Tue Feb 22 15:58:36 PST 2011
    level-name=world2
    hellworld=false
    spawn-monsters=true
    online-mode=false
    spawn-animals=true
    max-players=5
    server-ip=5.196.238.77
    pvp=true
    server-port=25565
    white-list=false
    The IP address needs to be changed, i have a hamachi server and a server for home but i need to change this to my ip address on my computer wich is 192.168.1.74. This needs to be changed back and forth so how can i make a batch that just runs and then done its been changed.

    There are no .bat files in a Unix environment
    #!/usr/bin/env bash
    export NEW_IP=192.168.1.74
    perl -ni -e '
    s/d.d+.d+.d/$ENV{"NEW_IP"}/;
    print;
    ' yourpropertiesfile
    Make sure you change the file's protections so they are executable
    chmod +x nameof_yourscript
    There are other ways to do this, I just choose a perl script within a bash script. You could do it all with a bash script, you could use awk, you could use sed, you could use python, ruby, etc...

  • Using JSP to run batch file - command launches excel but doesn't open file

    I have written a jsp on a server which runs a batch file. Every command line in the batch works fine except the following:
    CALL "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" C:\Temp\spreadsheet.xls
    I can see that a command prompt has been opened and an instance of Excel has been created, but it does not open the file.
    I tried running the batch file on its own. It worked fine. I tried putting the java code in the jsp into a java class, that worked okay too. I think it might be to do with the fact that the client is trying lauch the application through the web, but it's missing some information such as paths.
    I am totally running out of ideas.. please help

    I guess if I know JSP stands for Java Server Pages..
    I would most probably know it runs on servers.Yes, you might, but if you were assuming that the path you gave would always lead to an executable running on the client you'd have a problem. It's worth asking.
    I must admit it's probably not the best idea, but if
    you can give me some advice on that, that would be
    greatJSPs shouldn't have code in them that doesn't pertain to view. I'd wrap something like a system call or Runtime.exec in a Java Bean that you can test off-line without the JSP. Then have the JSP instantiate an instance, invoke its method, and display the value that's returned.
    You've read this, of course:
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html
    Everyone who uses Runtime.exec should.

  • Help, how to install jvm and set the classpath using a batch file

    hello,
    i have created my java application and now have to create an installable / batch file which will install the JVM on the users machine and also the java packages such as javamail and the class files that i have created . it also has to set the classpath.
    i would like to know if anyone can tell me how to go about iti.e. how can i install the JVM using a batch file and then place the javamial packages etc in the apropriate directory .
    or is it advisable to explain it to the user how to go about it in tht user manual.
    and would also like to know that if i install the JVM will the path for the java.exe be set
    or will i have to set the path explicitly from the "batch file" so that the user can run the application without and problem just by running the java command followed by filename from the command prompt.

    hi,
    I have windows and I use it.
    The only problem with the free edition is that you can only create 1 launcher and that during the installation you get 1 popup showing that the installer was created with an unregistered version.

  • Passing parameter values to powershell function from batch file

    Hello ,
       I haven't used powershell for a while and getting back to using it. I have a function and I want to figure out how to pass the parameter values to the function through batch file.
    function Check-FileExists($datafile)
    write-host "InputFileName : $datafile"
    $datafileExists = Test-Path $datafile
    if ($datafileExists)
    return 0
    else
    return -100
    <#
    $datafile = "C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PreIDFiles\SampleInputFile_011.txt"
    $returncode = Check-FileExists -datafile $datafile
    Write-Host "ReturnCode : $returncode"
    $datafile = "C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PreIDFiles\SampleInputFile_01.txt"
    $returncode = Check-FileExists -datafile $datafile
    Write-Host "ReturnCode : $returncode"
    #>
    The above code seems to be work when I call it. But when I try to call that script and try to pass the parameter values, I am doing something wrong but can't figure out what.
    powershell.exe -command " &{"C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PowerShell\BulkLoad_Functions.ps1" $returncode = Check-FileExists -datafile "C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PreIDFiles\SampleInputFile_01.txt"}"
    Write-Host "ReturnCode : $returncode"
    $file = "C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PreIDFiles\SampleInputFile_01.txt"
    powershell.exe -file "C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PowerShell\BulkLoad_Functions.ps1" $returncode = Check-FileExists -datafile $datafile
    Somehow the I can't get the datafile parameter value being passed to the function. Your help would be much appreciated.
    I90Runner

    I am not sure about calling a function in a script like how you want to. Also I see you are setting the values of the parameters, this is not needed unless you want default values if nothing is passed. The values for the parameters will be passed via the
    batch file. So for me the easiest way is as indicated.
    param
    [string]$DataFile
    function Check-FileExists($datafile)
    write-host "InputFileName : $datafile"
    $datafileExists = Test-Path $datafile
    if ($datafileExists)
    return 0
    else
    return -100
    Write-Host "Return Code: $(Check-FileExists $DataFile)"
    Then you create a batch file that has
    start powershell.exe
    -ExecutionPolicy
    RemoteSigned -Command
    "& {<PathToScript>\MyScript.ps1 -DataFile 'C:\Dev\eMetric\PreIDWork\PreIDFiles\SampleInputFile.txt'}"
    Double click the batch file, and it should open a powershell console, load your script and pass it the path specified, which then the script runs it and gives you your output

    Here is what I want to do:
    I want to make an interactive html report based on an HTML site I made.  I want to take the y (meaning yes) inputs for the strings( anitivirus, malwarebytes, ccleaner, and Microsoftconfig which are from the batch) and make them indicate something has
    been done on the HTML that I created.  Essentially, I see the yes inputs putting check marks (or something) in the sections of my HTML document that are related to the programs I ran in the batch.  The sections in the HTML page are called Virus Scan,
    Adware Scan, Registry Scan, and Start up scan and they are paired to the variables antivirus, malwarebytes, ccleaner, and microsoftconfig.
    I hope this makes sense.
    Thanks for any help

    This is the way I was looking at it.  Essentially a html file is a text file.  I have already written the html file I want to have displayed.  I just want the batch to make a slight change to the text in part of it.  If I could
    do that I would be happy.  Is there any way to do that with the batch?
    Editing files never has been and is still not something that batch files do easily.  I ti si not the intention of batch to do this.
    If you are trying to learn something, try learn-ing something that is not obsolete.  Batch is not worth the time when we have PowerShell,  If you ant to alter an HTML dynamically then use an HTA.  It is easy and well supported.

  • How can spwan out parallel HBR in one single batch file?

    We have several Hyperion business rules to be executed at night batch. To ease the control and management, we put all business rules under one single batch file. However how can we spawn out different business rules so that these rules can be executed in parallel?
    We are using Windows Server 2003, Scheduled Tasks with Essbase ver 11.1
    Thanks!

    CL wrote:
    R1 and R2 can in parallel and but must finish before R3 and R4?
    Can you START /WAIT a batch that then spawns two more START sessions without a /WAIT?
    Do that twice and you will get rough parallelism.
    Failing that, why not just use an OS scheduler? Have the first processes write completion logs. Time the second so that the first should be done, but put in a loop that looks for FILEEXIST.
    Lots of ways to approach this. Scripting this stuff is always fun.
    Regards,
    Camerin LackpourThanks! Yes there are lots of ways to handle with batch scripts. Windows default Scheduled Tasks does not have dependency checking function and needs to write scripts to check something e.g. the log file.
