Batch Import and Batch Syndication

Hi Guys,
Please help me how Batch import takes place in windows environment and Linux environment (shell script also) and how to mention the timing in the scheduler a complete walk thru of this scenario ..........
Thanks in Advance............

Hi Dear,
Did you unzipped the installion of MDM.
You can find Import Manager Batch and Syndicator Batch alsong with other GUI.
Do not try to find seperate install for batches as its part of full installation.

  • Scheduling Imports and Syndication

    Hello Experts,
Is it possible to schedule Importing?
If so can we do it Thrice a day in a stipulated time?
    weekly?
    monthly?
I am sure that syndication can be scheduled by placing it in Work flow(on record import, update, delete)
And by making the outbound port hourly, daily, weekly.
    Can we schedule Syndication Monthly?
    Kind Regards
    Eva

    Hi Eva,
How can we include an Import proces in MDM wf!!!
In Data Manager, Once you have done with your design of mdm workflow, set workflow property Trigger Action = Record Import and set Autolaunch = immediate. But as you are looking for Scheduling import, I am not sure as i have not tried it so I would suggest just check and try with Autolaunch =  Threshold and  set Max Records = 1000 & Max Time = 3 days if it gives you desired result.
In import Manager, import map for which you want to set it. Go to configuration options--> set the property Checkout/Workflow = Workflow name from the drop down which you created in data manager and then save the map.  So whenever record import for this map it will go through this mdm workflow.
PI/XI is also a good approach to control the import timing.
As you are looking for Import Scheduling thrice a day.
I feel that as soon as files comes to your ready folder port, files get imported to MDM if your Import Server is running. So in this case you can create another folder say initial backup import where you should contain import files and with the help of scripting language/scheduler, you should move files from this folder to ready folder after every three days.
    Can we schedule Syndication Monthly?
You can make use of JAVA APIs and run a batch job to schedule it monthly.
Please refer these below threads for more details:
    1. Java API : Syndication
    2. Call a Java API via Unix Script

  • Batch Syndication General export error.

I am getting the following error message when I do a batch syndication.  This is not consistent, but happens about 50% of the time.
    Syndication Error.
    (-301) General export error.
Any idea on what may be the cause.
    Regards,
    Simon

This is the info we got from SAP via OSS re this error ...
    Summary
    Symptom
While using the Syndicator Batch  you are receiving general connection errors of the type (-301) General Export Error
    Other terms
    -301, batch syndicator
    Reason and Prerequisites
The Syndicator Batch is running together with the Syndicator Server (batch and auto syndication inside mdss)
    OR
The same repository is being processed by two batches
    OR
You are syndicating from two different repositories using the same mdss
    Solution
The issue is solved in SP04 Patch 2 Hotfix 1, however, if you do not need any ports syndication in parallel to the Syndicator Batch, then set the Auto Syndication parameter 'Auto Syndication Task Enabled' to 'False' in the mdss.ini and in this case you will not need to upgrade to the Hotfix. In case that you do need the ports syndication in parallel and you cannot carry out the upgrade, then you may use a workaround by increasing the Delay parameter in the mdss.ini to a much higher value i.e.3600 sec.

  • Setup interval on Import and Syndication server in 7.1

    Hello Experts:
I am upgrading MDM from 5.5 to 7.1; I am having issues with Import Server picking up files from Ready folder, and Syndication Server creating the files on Ready Folder.
    1. I checked Console, and both ports, Inbound and Outbound, are setup as Automatic.
    2. I restarted both servers
The files are still on the ready folder for Import Server, and Syndication is not creating the file.
    1. Do you know what else can I check to make this process automatic?
    2. Do you know where, in 7.1, can I check the interval? I used to check it on the mdis.ini file, but I cannot find it in 7.1.
    Thank you for your help,
    Claudia Hardeman

    Hi claudia,
    check the below points:
    1) Manually you can import and symdicate those files through import manager and syndicate manager its works fine, then PI not picked those files from ready folder, check the communication channel of receiver and sender systems.
    2) files having some special characters (like ", ' etc.) MDM is not supported to special characters.
3)check the MDM server running and repository loaded or not.

  • Import and Syndication maps - change in XSD

    HI All,
Can any one let me know are these are correct if it is then are there any work around solutions?
We created manually Import and syndication maps.. fine..After few days we changed data type/deleted the filed/added new fields.... In all these above incidents do we need to recreate import and syndication maps????
There is no other work around for this ??
    2) Even if there is no change in Repository structure but change in import or syndication XSD do we need to recreate all import and syndication maps???
    Your inputs are really helpful.
    Thanks
    Rajeev

    HI Rajeev,
So for any change in the MDM repository Import maps and syndication maps are not needed to recreate from scrach right?
For minor changes like field add there is no need. For changes involving deletion of mapped fields, changing types of already mapped fields, deleting mapped tables, one should first unmap the current map and then carry out structural changes.Later one can remap them again, this is to avoid maps from getting corrupt.
If there is any change in the XSD then there is a possibility to recreate the map from scrach??
    Yes
Do Update XML schema option avaliable only in MDM 7.1?? not in 5.5?
    Yes
A good description and usage is given by Aamir here Update of XML syndication map when XSD is changed
One more thing want to clear : I created a scheme and assigned the XSD.. Now when I created the port I am unable to assing the schema like I do for import map??? then what is the use of XSD schema for outbbound??
Seems you are not using in the way it is supposed to.the exact usage and defining what feature is available with which port is mentioned in pg no 356 of Console guide.
What is the usual method of import XSD and Outbound XSD?? Do Source and Target systems provide XSDs to MDM or MDM provides to Source and Target Systems?
For Standard contents SAP provides ready made xsds.
It is important to note that xsds are only to make MDM and other system understand the xml so they should be same.
To do this you can use Altova tool to create xsds based on your xml, also PI can help you do the same.
You can create xsd with PI for other idoc type too.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

  • Regarding MDM Import and Syndication Server

    Hi,
I have earlier worked in MDM Import Server.
Today, I successfully did MDM Syndication by
    MDM Syndicator.
Now, the point is I need to do Import and Syndication
by MDM Import Server and MDM Syndication Server.
    The MDM Version is 5.5.
Now, the point is under my installed directory:
    F:\MDM SERVER\Server
    in mds.ini file:
I need to give the following path:
    Distribution Root Dir=F:\MDMSER~1\Server\Distributions\
I think other than these I don't have to do any configuration
    in mdis.ini or mdss.ini.
Also, I have already inbound and outbound ports made and linked
    to inbound and outbound maps.
Is there any more configuration needed?
    Regards
    Neha Singh

    Hi Neha,
There are many configuration needed to complete the Automatic import and syndication using MDIS and MDSS.

  • Import and Syndication

    Hi all
Can anyone tell me what the issues (if any) might be is we run and import process and syndication process simultaneously, provided of course that the  data selection  for syndication is not the data being imported

It has been our experience that one process will hold up the other.  For example, we have been doing many imports and syndications as part of our set up and have done fairly large imports as well. During these imports, my syndicator will show at the bottom "please wait while the server performs an operation on behalf of 'USER' on 'MACHINE'". Once that process is completed, it will perform the next process in the queue.  Hope this helps.

  • Re-Importing and re-connecting P2 files

    Hi all,
I recently needed to re-import a whole slew of P2 files for a feature-length PBS doc (because of a frame jitter caused by fcp ver. 5.0.4 that was fixed in the upgrade). I dumped the older media and re-imported the files, but now, fcp doesn't recognize the name/path. I can turn off the "Matched Name Only" toggle and force it to reconnect the files, but when I do, two things happen: first - it gives me a warning that certain attributes don't match (the "Media In/Out Points," "Reel Name" and "Rate"). And second, I can only reconnect one clip at a time. This is a 30 minute feature with hundreds of clips.
Is there a faster way to force fcp to batch re-connect the media?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Tim Walton

    Hey Shane -
    Am I glad you're here!
Hmmm....you didn't rename any of them when you first imported, right?
No, I didn't rename any of the clips.
How did you import the first time? This time? Was P2 log used? How did you import the files this time?
I did not use the P2 log. Originally, the .mxf files were simply copied to our NAS server using the P2 "Library" card reader. To this day, they haven't been moved or modified from that location. In both instances, I imported directly from the NAS into fcp by using the "File>Import>Panasonic P2" command. The "Import P2" dialogue window opened, and from there, I would select the folder with the .mxf files I wanted to import, and I'd choose, "Open." I'd select all of the files in the folder and add them to the import que (I noticed that the import interface has changed a lot from ver 5.0.4 - but I'm certain that isn't causing problems.)
Another related issue - I've gone through and reconnected all my clips manually. During the re-connect, I got a warning message on each of the clips that said that certain attributes had changed - the reel #, the rate (is that the frame rate, data rate, or what?) and the media in/out points. I told it to continue on each clip. But once reconnected, the in and out points on most - if not all - of the clips has slipped about 3 frames.
In the words of a co-worker - this is a big monkey on my back!
    I'm really baffled here.

  • Importing and organizing raw video footage - options

    greetings-
Looking for a better solution, if available, for importing & organizing raw video. I am using imovie for now. Soon to switch to FC express. After much exploring & learning on my new machine (recent convert), I’m a bit frustrated on how it video is handled.
Please correct any of these that I’ve got wrong, but it appears that:
Importing video (from DV camera) with programs provided on my machine can only be done through imovie and idvd.
Importing video through these programs requires creating a project, and importing the video to that project.
Then that imported video is associated with that project.
So I want to take the imported clips (say from imovie), and organize them archiving, use on other projects, backup, etc. I know that I can find the actually video files by control clicking on the project in finder, hit show package, and get to "clip 1, clip 2...clip 55". This represents the raw footage, but now I’ve got say 55 separate clips, for just one import.
I’d like to effectively organize my various raw videos by year/event etc. So that when working a project, a can pull in the different footage that I want to use. For instance, I previously imported and organzied video footage with my PC editing software, and now, thankfully, I can just bring that various footage from the external drive into Imovie and edit. If I want to do a project and grab some footage from 04, 05, 06, it's all right there.
Is there a better solution for import & organizing my raw video clips more efficiently with imovie or idvd?? Or perhaps another program. Such that I’ve got the 1/2 hr of video "Christmas 05", one file (not 40 seperate clips), saved, and can pull it into projects as needed in the future... Ideally maintaining the clip breaks. Am I asking to much from apple? How do you all import/manage/save your imported video?
    Much thanks for any feedback!

    Ciao Rubbersoul,
unfortunately iMovie doesn't allow you to rename the clips (other than within the project), so if you want to label them for future reference, you'll have to do that outside iMovie.
I personally save the best shots from each project to an external hard drive using the following method:
    • simply drag the desired clips from the iMovie project to the desktop
    • organize the clips by creating the appropriate folders (e.g. by subject, time, etc.), so you'll find your footage faster
    • rename the clips within the folders. If you don't need to give each clip a separate name, you can use tools like Renamer4Mac (http://www.power4mac.com) to batch-rename the clips.
    • transfer and organize your folders/clips on the external (Firewire) hard disk. You can do that manually or by using media browsers like iDive to organize and view your clips. iDive is a digital hub that can help you to keep not only your video but also music and pic collections under control, and it integrates with iMovie and FCE/FCP. Check it out here:
    http://www.aquafadas.com/idive-digital-video/index.php
Always remember that DV eats up a lot of disk space and don't forget to back up your footage to tape.

  • Import and Export transport requests on Netweaver 2004s Sp11 Sneak Preview

    Hi Experts,
I have configured the transportation system <STMS> in order to import and export transport requests on the NSP system. The configuration is working properly as files can be imported and exported out of the C:\sapmnt\trans directory. (configuration distributed by STMS -> Overview -> Systems -> Extras -> Distribute TMS Configuration, Folder SAPMNT shared).
The problem I'm facing with the import of some example transports is given by the hanging import queues. In phase 'Import ABAP Dictionary Objects' I have the following message for almost all objects -> '... was not imported in this step'.
I tried to solve this issue by running SE38->RDDNEWPP with DDIC user to schedule job RDDIMPDP for TP imports. I also made the config in TP_DOMAIN_NSP.PFL with SYSTEM_PF = C:\SAP\NSP\SYS\profile\DEFAULT.PFL.
The error is still in logfile SLOG0732.NSP
ERROR:       The following call returned with exit code 7:

    and logfile dev_evt

    ERROR ***: Event raise failed
With the exports there is a similar issue in the EXPORT phase, given the note
    0 entries from WDY_APPLICATIONT exported.
Batch process is available (parameter rdisp/wp_no_btc = 1)
Profile has been activated by rz10->utilities->import profile->ofactive servers.
Any ideas what still can be wrong? Does the import export and DDIC activation really work with the sneak preview?
    Thanks

  • Import and Export variables with same name

The nco3 throws and exception when a function has Import and Export variables with the same name.

  • Import and/or export for actionscript without extention?

I have a project in which I need to import several hundered png images.
When I import them into the library, then select all the images, then view the properties, I Check the export for action script and the export in frame 1.
Now, all my images have class names that I can access though my code, however, it included the file extensions in the class names, thus making invalid class names.
Is there any way I can import and/or set class names so they do not include the file extensions without having to do it manually for EVERY file?

My actual project has something like 9200 images in it.
if  my main project, let's call it "main.fla", was to contain every one of  those images, every time I tried to run or debug it, it would take  FOREVER to compile... as a work around that I discovered in a previous  project was to put all my graphics and media into an swc file. (Let's  call it MyLibrary.swc)
While I was trying to get the  swc working, I discovered that while my media in the swc was indeed  setup to be exported for actionscript with unquie classes and  everything, when I compiled and built my project, I could not get any of  those media elements using the getDefinitionByName function.
After alot of reading and trail and error I found that the only way to get it to work was to have someplace in my code, an actual reference to the objects that I was trying to get with getDefinitionByName. It turned out, that without instantiating the object in the code, the compiler was omitting it.
Now, but instantiate, I mean doing this:
    var bm:BitmapData = new MyImage();
Where MyImage.png is in my swc and has a class defined as "MyImage"
Once I do that, then I can do this
    var classRef:Class = Class(  getDefinitionByName("MyImage")  );
But without that line above SOMEWHERE in my code (even if it's not actually executed), the getDefinitionByName returns an error saying it can't find the class.
    Now, here's the problem.
When I import all my images into my swc library they get named with the file extention... "MyImage.png" and when I select all the images that Imported and batch set the export for actionscript, they get automatically assigned a class name equal to their library name, so the class name is "MyImage.png"
so if I wanted to use getDefinitionByName to access the class, I would need to instantiate it in my code by doing this:
    var bm:BitmapData = new MyImage.png();
BUT, that is erronous as the period causes an error and the adobe docs says right in it that class names can't use periods or any other non-alphanumeric character.
So while the getDefinitionByName function DOES actually work with classes with periods in them, because my media is external of the main.fla, I can't load it unless it's instantiated first, which leaves me right back where I was.... having to to manually rename over 9000 classes manually one at a time.
I did some searching and found the "Flash Library Renamer" extension, but it requires me changing all my class names to be sequenial, which the vast majority is not.
Is there a way that I can import the files into the library and have it omit the file extension?
if not, is there a way that I can set the class names in a batch and not have it use the file extentions?
if not, is there an Flash Extention or plug in that will allow batch renaming using regular expression or wildcards?

  • IMovie: whats the fastest way to import and save all original media?

Good afternoon. Ok I need help please. Is there a way to simply take all the imported original media and just save it all in one fell swoop? Rather than having to import and then process/export clip by clip.
I thought I had a quicker way just grabbing all the original media from the imported camera (right clicking imovie library > show package contents > original media) untill I tried to play one of the original media files - no sound and it was mov file. I assume mp4 is better???
I have 2800 hours of video I need to import off my camera. I don't need to modify them at all, aside from the occasional combining of clips into one movie. So I need the fastest way. Importing and then exporting clip by clip will take me forever. I would prefer to just import and then just drag all 50 clips or so into my movies folder. But as stated above that does not seem to work as expected unless I'm missing a step.
    Thank you!

ps Can I take the original media files (mov format) and batch convert them using handbrake or MPEG streamclip? And if so would the resulting videos then have sound? And which is the best format (container codec whatever) to export them to? Thanks!

  • Add a "Quick Import" and allow Database speed optimization

I would like an option to open individual files alongside the library system. Allow people to use the Develop module on single files, and export them without having to add them to the database... or there could be a temporary part of the database where they are stored in, and the user can customize the length of time they're stored in the database. This may give people who are wary of the database/importation system more incentive to use lightroom. Also, user configurable options (or a wizard) to optimize the speed of the database, such as mass removing files from the database (but not deleting) that have not been accessed for a determined amount of time, or to automatically back those files up in an archive and delete/remove them from the database.
This would help my workflow because I don't always import thousands of files of a shoot. I believe it is highly presumptuous to think that everyone who uses lightroom has exactly the same workflow, involving the importation of thousands of files for batch conversion, or mass exportation to photoshop for final touches. I often export single files from Lightroom to photoshop, solely for the reason of global contrast enhancement (USM high radius), and using third party plugins (such as Neatimage). The fact is, I have photoshop, and I choose NOT to use Camera Raw in PS because the Develop module in LR produces faster, and often marginally better results... I attribute this to its more streamlined user interface. I will often take the very best of my photos in a small handful of folders, and then I process and export them on demand. I believe there is no harm in adding a "Quick Import" command which takes an image, or a handful of images, quickly into the Develop module without any prompt for metadata handling or preset application. Since it would be a small-scale import, presets could be selected manually on the side panel as desired. I believe there is a lot of sense in the database system, especially for a lot of professional photographers... I need a little more flexibility with the database.

Thinking about it honestly, I think you're right. I don't think Adobe LR designers are being highly presumptuous, because I have never been in contact with them. However, I have read some posts on this message board, and it appears that very little is getting through to adobe. For example, some responses by Jeff Schewe have shown a resistance to changing the workflow of LR, even though others have wanted more flexibility with the interface. I'm not sure if he directly works for Adobe, but he generally shoots down any idea that doesn't fit the LR/importation - PS/single file work paradigm.
    For example:
    "Jeff Schewe - 6:09pm Aug 26, 07 PST (#1 of 1)
Then use Camera Raw 4 and be done with it...if Lightroom doesn't fit in your workflow, it's foolish to try to force it in. That's why there's Camera Raw with Bridge and Photoshop."
    original post:

Although I think that the request could have been worded a little nicer, these sorts of responses are not constructively critical enough, and gives the impression that Adobe has a very rigid idea of where Lightroom should be, and where Photoshop should be. If this impression is false, then I think Jeff Schewe is misrepresenting Adobe (although I'm not sure if he exactly works for Adobe).
A much better example is here:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc4b6d9/0
I hope that better explains my statement... and it is one of frustration of what I see on this board. People are coming up with valid suggestions, which others seems to agree would improve their workflow, and they are being bluntly shot down.
You're right, it's not a whole lot different. I wanted to put my two cents in on how the process could be sped up for an alternate workflow. It saves a few steps, and I value that. Others value saving extra steps, such as the latter example above. I am suggesting an idea to speed up the importation/develop process, although it does not necessarily have to work the way I wrote it. One of Lightroom's biggest faults currently is a lack of speed, and I felt at the time of posting that it might stimulate some new discussion or ideas about improving Lightroom. One being an alternative, streamlined importation, and an automated process that cleans the library afterwards to your configured preferences... which might improve the slowdown that many experience when masses of inactive files clutter their database.
    Thanks for your response,
    Brendan

  • Alternative way to import and organize photos?

    Hi,
I've got a mixed Mac/XP setup, and would like to make all photos available to all users. I'll be implementing iPhoto on the Macs, obviously.
Currently, I've got all my photos organized by directory in a YEAR/MONTH/DAY/CAMERA hierarchy. This makes it fairly easy to browse with nothing more than Finder/XP Explorer.
I'm thinking I'll keep this format, and just have iPhoto reference these files in their current locations, since the iPhoto organization is less intuitive for those that can't use iPhoto (those being the XP users on my network).
Is there an easy way to download photos into this hierarchy, then launch iPhoto, and tell it to add these newly downloaded files to the library, referenced in their current location? Perhaps an ImageCapture/Automator type workflow?
    Thanks.

To keep your file system the way you want and have auto import of your files you'd need an application like iView MediaPro. I have auto update capability for adding files/folders to it's system, called a catalog. I use it as my primary image management application and iPhoto for creating books, calendars, cards, etc. iVMP allows you to annotate the files and write those annotations back to the file itself. It also lets you rename the actual file names, either individually or in batches. I use it to rename each file with it's EXIF Capture Date in the format YYYY-MM-DD-description-001.jpg, -002, jpg, etc. That gives me excellent chronological sorting and searching capabilities in any application. iVMP also lets you create hierarchical Catalog Sets for advanced organization.
The alias based system that you're considering will keep your "source" files in the same structure as you'd like but, as Terence pointed out, you have to add the new files manually. I you could add a folder action to each of your source file folders to automatically import into iPhoto any new file added to that folder. However, that file(s) would come into iPhoto in it's/their own roll. Another caveat of the alias based system is that if you delete a photo from iPhoto you have to delete it manually from your source files. AND you can't move or rename the source files once they've been imported into iPhoto.
You can somewhat mimic your folder structure by creating folders, sub folder, albums and smart albums in the Source pane to group your photos as desired. You can also use the calendar at the bottom of the Souce pane (on the left) to locate files by year/month/date. You can also use Smart Albums to group photos by camera ( and go farther and sort by year/month/camera - by day would be too many smart albums IMO).
There are a lot of ways to achieve what you want. My Tutorials have some additional information on using iPhoto's alias system.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
