One job kept failing -job log saying"SUBMIT authorization F_001 required"-please guide

Hi Julius and all,
Thanks for inputs,here the Auth group missing is clear--its "F-001".
But the problem is this that User is able to run this some days before and still able to run the job in quality,(and also i am able to run the job in Fix and quality systems for test id created identical as user),but getting this error only in production.
Same roles are given in all systems.(with No f_001 is given under P-Group in Fix and Quality also)
Also nothing comes up in traces
Is it possible that this Auth Group is given under some more broad auth group/s whoes access granged in Quality systems like two or three Auth group defined under some Auth group and access is coming from that Parent Auth Group?
Please tell if this kind of Grouping and relation-ship possible for Auth Groups or not

Batch Jobs fail because User ID is either Locked or deleted from SAP System

Business Users releases batch jobs under their user id.
And when these User Ids are deleted or locked by system administrator, these batch jobs fail, due to either user being locked or deleted from the system.
Is there any way that these batch jobs can be stopped from cancelling or any SAP standard report to check if there are any batch jobs running under specific user id.

What you can do is, if you want the jobs to be still running under the particular user's name (I know people crib about anything and everything), and not worry about the jobs failing when the user is locked out, you can still achieve this by creating a system (eg bkgrjobs) user and run the Steps in the jobs under that System User name. You can do this while defining the Step in SM37
This way, the jobs will keep running under the Business User's name and will not fail if he/she is locked out. But make sure that the System User has the necessary authorizations or the job will fail. Sap_all should be fine, but it really again depends on your company.

ERROR: replicator: Job Failed :error retrieving site manifest exception

Hi all,
I have installed the Site Studio Publishing utility on content Server machine.
I have installed the site studio publishing client on my machine and I have configured successfully. I mean to say that I have configured the destination on Publishing Utility & Content Provider on Publishing Client.
I have created the publishing job on the the site. I could see the content delivered on my machine from the content server, successfully. Now i have updated the site in the Site designer. I have just added "Hi" in the site layout page in the site designer. I have saved it. Now I have given the publishing job again. While running the job, I am getting following Error:

KSV5 Batch Job fails on second day

Hi All,
We execute KSV5 in batch for first four days(i.e. 01 till 04 of new month) of new month.
First day the Batch job runs successfully, but balance 3 days the job fails with an error as
(program RKGALKSV5, variant XXXX DSB, user ID BATCH)
The reversal has not been updated
Message no. GA534
Diagnosis
Because CCA: Actual Distribution has already run, old document numbers are reversed before processing begins. Processing can only begin once reversals have been updated. If processing occurred earlier, debits and credits not yet reversed would be affected.
To ensure this, the reversal sets a lock (ENQUEUE EK811D) which is only removed once updates have been made.
The processing waits until the block has been removed. The maximum time processing will wait is determined by the profile parameter ENQUE/DELAY_MAX. The default for this parameter is 5 seconds. Normally this amount of time is sufficient; however, certain factors such as high system usage can delay updates.
This is the case here.
System Response
Processing of CCA: Actual Distribution is not started.
Procedure
Wait until the reversal has been updated. You can monitor the update with the menu path Tools -> Administration. If the update is not made due to a system error, contact your system administrator. If the reversal is updated, restart the processing. Because reversal has been performed, processing starts immediately.
If this error occurs repeatedly, increase the value of the ENQUE/DELAY_MAX profile parameter. Processing then will wait longer for the reversal to be updated. Consult your system administrator before you change the parameter.
We are not sure where & how to update the wait time in Profile Parameter.
Can you pls advice, how to fix it.

Batch job failing with INVALID_STARTDATE exception

Hello Experts,
our batch job runs 17th minute of every hour on daily basis.It is running successfully from 00:17 AM to 20:17 PM and gets completed within 1 hour for every run.
But when it is starting 21:17PM, it keeps on running for next 5-6 hours and then gets cancelled with error "Invalid_startdate"
Currently it is posting all the idocs.Idoc status is 53. But the problem is closing the job Function module JOB_CLOSE is throwing an exception "INVALID_STARTDATE" and gets cancelled.
Could anyone please provide us any help on this.

Usually this message is raised because of:
Unsupported combinations of specifications, such as periodic repetition of jobs that were scheduled to wait for a predecessor job
Incomplete or incorrect specifications, such as an incomplete start date.
but..is your SAP in a time zone 3 hours different from yours?
e.g. New York has already a new day when you have 9PM in LA

PL/SQL batch jobs and error reports handling

Has anyone ever had to write exception and statistics reports from a PL/SQL batch job and how have those been handled? I have 3 options below not but sure what is best (or is there another) way to do this.
I have a series of batch jobs that are written in PL/SQL. A unix script will invoke a SQL*Plus script that calls a stored procedure. The stored procedure may call other procedures and functions. I'd like to collect all the errors and write them out a report that the user can review. I was thinking of just writing a message using DBMS_OUTPUT and spool that to a file in my script, but I have concerns that other message in the buffer may end up in the report. The other thought was to use UTL_FILE but then I would have to make sure the file handle got passed thru all the procedures and functions appropriate. The last thought was to write to a table ( a temporary PL/SQL table) , and then read that table and write to a file using UTL_FILE (don't have to pass file handles that way) - but I'm not sure if a called function or procedure can access that table.

Just a thought
If You use utl_file, You can write all opeations with files in a separate package with public variables of file handles and so on. Not necessary to pass all variables to each procedure and function

ERROR VNIC creation job failed

Hi friends
I managed to find the answer. Internally it is has some indexes in the data base level. It still maintains the indexes in the shadow tables. Those all need to be deleted. With our Basis team help I have successfully deleted those and recreated the indexes.
As Soorejkv said sap note 1283322 will help you on this to understand the scenarios.

Batch Job:
A batch job is a process that runs in the background, often deferred and unattended, to process data in groups (batch) rather than by individual transactions (e.g. a monthly phone bill rather than a bill for each individual phone call). A batch job executes a sequence of programs and technical instructions that are stored in a command file. Progress and error messages are output to a log file allowing users to determine, at any time, if the batch job completed successfully or identify the cause of the problem. Because batch jobs run in the background they are less visible to the end user.
In a business-computing context, batch job scheduling implies the automatic execution of background tasks (batch jobs) at pre-determined points in time (e.g. every day at 8pm, midday on Wednesday).
3 types of batch job scheduling can be distinguished: native, basic and advanced batch job scheduling.
Most operating systems and some business solutions software come equipped with native batch job scheduling tools that provide a limited service (e.g. Windows Scheduled Tasks, UNIX crontab, SAP CCMS) locally to each installation. However, business processes may span multiple platforms, applications, countries and companies. Their complexity may require much more functional power as provided by basic batch job scheduling including national and regional variations in the working calendar, sequence variations according to the day of the month, triggering of jobs by the successful completion of preceding jobs, elimination of gaps and reduced batch windows. Major benefits of basic batch job scheduling are enhanced productivity, operations reliability and cost-reduction. For e-business applications that require real-time processing, the distance between interactive individual processing and batch processing tends to decrease. The standard benefits of batch job scheduling are drastically amplified when job schedulers can handle the end-to-end automation and monitoring requirements for all background operations.
To schedule a back ground job follow the below steps:
1. Use Transaction SM36.
2. Assign a job name.
3. Set the jobs priority, or Job Class:
High --- Class A
Medium --- Class B
Low ---Class C
4. Here you can specify,when the job is to start by choosing Start Condition. If you want the job to repeat, or be periodic, check the box at the bottom.
Else click on the immediate and save this.
5. Now,define the jobs steps by choosing Step.
Here you need to give the ABAP program that has been used and the name of the variant thats being used.
6. Save the fully defined job to submit it to the background processing system.(You need to click save button on the main screen i.e SM36)
7. When you need to modify, reschedule, or otherwise manipulate a job after you've scheduled it the first time, you'll manage jobs from the Job Overview.
8. Release the job so that it can run.
The job, even those scheduled for immediate processing, can not run without first being released.So,do remember to release.

    now i have one problem about performance tuning using threading in SAP programs: split one big program into two programs - one is main program and the other is sub program. using batch jobs, we can submit multi jobs of sub program at the same time.
    does anybody know how to pass data between different batch jobs? I don't want to use temp files. can ABAP memory can implement this?

Yes we can transfer the data by using
SAP Memory OR ABAP Memory.
Ex: V_count TYPE i.
V_count = 100.
LOOP AT itab.
IF v_count EQ 25.
Here For every batch job
EXPORT data TO MEMORY ID 'ABC'
   Function module
    JOB_OPEN
   JOB_SUBMIT
   JOB_CLOSE.
ENDIF.
ENDLOOP .
IN your 2nd program.
INITIALIZATION.
IMPORT data FROM MEMORY IF 'ABC'.
FREE memory if .---When you free the memory you will get recent data.
Don't forget to reward if useful.

Check if any procesing is done using sy-tcode or sy-ucomm.
Some times, using these in program and when scheduled a batch on this program will lead to dumps.
Instead, directly call program (instead of sy-tcode) and check.

Monitoring DI batch job

I want to create an alert whenever a batch job fails. I can see a failure on the web client console. How can I grab that to send it to TSM?

Possible solutions are with XI 3.x, so it's not at all straightforward in XI Release 2.
What you're essentially looking for is an adapter - something that will adapt the Web Service data source into something that an Universe can connect to.
Haven't tried any of the Web Services adapter classes for RDBMS or ODBC drivers for Web Services, so can't recommend anything that would work.

Is there any changes in server or network setting?
Is it working before or its a new setup?
There are many reasons of SQL server connectivity issue. But refer a small checklist that helps to find out the real cause of connectivity issue.
1. Check SQL services are running
2. Check SQL Browser service is running
3. Check remote connections are enabled
4. Network connectivity between database & application servers by TRACERT command
5. Check TCP/IP protocol enabled at SQL server
6. Check talent connectivity – telnet <IP address> <port no on SQL server running>
7. Check UDP port 1434 is open or not on SQL Server
8. Check firewall is running or not Check
9. If firewall running, SQL Server & UDP port must be added in exception in firewall
