Batch Management at Plant Level

Hi,
I need to activate batch management only for the DC. All the other plants are not batch managed. I have maintained the Batch at plant level. Where now do I indicate that only the DC plant is to be activated?
Thanks,
Lee

Hi SantoshSP,
I have maintained the tick in the material master. But this is not specific to the plant data. How will it know to which plant it must be batch managed?
Thanks,
Lee

  • Documentary Batches with Batch Management at Material Level

    Hi,
We have configured batch managment at the material level, and turned on for our materials. This applies to all plants that a material is extended to. Problem is that some plants don't have capability to (or do not need to) trace individual batches. So a "Generic" batch number approach is usually used in those few plants - but this of course still requires that the "Generic" batch number be supplied in all transactions. Some of those plants have just a more limited requirement of batch traceability (e.g. just at receipt or despatch, but not anything else like physical inventory).
The functions of Documentary Batches seem most appealing. However, according to documentation, and in our tests, it seems that the batch management setting will always suppress the documentary batch functions in a plant, even if we only want generic batches.
Does anyone know how to allow documentary batches for certain plants to override the "Batch at Material level" setting? P.S. We are not able anymore to re-configure the batch to material-plant level.
FYI - I have searched Forums, Wiki, Support portal, SAP Help and Release Documentation.
    Cheers,
    Jeff

There is no batch record exists in the stock.
Please clarify why can't able to change to plant level from material level.

  • Batch Managment at Plant

    Hi, good day
If somebody know about, how can I do to make the choice Batch management at MM01 is only at the Plant and not in general.
That is, a material is with Batch management in a Plant and another Plant the same material without Batch management.
If anyone has an idea about this, please anything would be helpful

    Hi,
Yes, it is possible only for whole plant not for a particular material in a plant. if it is active at a plant level then system will ask for batch.
Batch Management can be activated in three levels. They are
    1. Client Level
    2. Plant Level
    3. Material Level
At plant level, the batch number is unique in conjunction
with the respective material and the plant.
At Material level, the batches are unique at material level, that is, the batch is independent of any plant. The same batch
number can also be assigned to another material.
At client level, the batch number is unique in the whole client. It indicates that batches are managed uniquely for
exactly one material, that is, independently of the plant, the same batch can exist only once for all materials.
    Example
    a) Plant 1000 item code A Batch 1
    b) Plant 2000 item code A Batch 1
IMG -->  Logistics General --> Batch Management --> Specify Batch Level and Activate Status Management
    Hope Help  U !!!

  • Batch Management at Site level

    Hi All,
We are planning to implement Batch Management for certain product ranges in our Organization. We prefer to activate Batches at site level. I mean at certain sites Batch need to exist and at others they need not.
I have checked the configurations but they all pertain to the configuration of Batch setting at Plant, Material and Client level in terms of Batch ID being unique or not.
Is there any configuration possible so at to facilitate this requirement ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Govind

    Dear Jurgen,
    You are right.
I checked MMRV and the current status is as shown below.
    Current period            06 2011
    Previous period           05 2011
    Last period in prev.year  12 2010
No I check in MBEWH and for the plant 2010 and article 381180 we have the folowwing entries.
    YEAR          CURR PERIOD      STOCK QTY
    2009            12                        68.000
    2010            12                        68.000
    2011            04                        68.000
I try to do MB1A with movement type 551 for plant 2010 and article 381180 for the posting period 31.05.2011 with 68 Ea.
Batch chosen was 7000000001 as this was the batch shown while I tried to archive:
    " MCHB: 000000000000381180 2010 0002 7000000001 unrestricted-use stock exists for previous period"
While I try to execute the transaction it gives me an error...
    "Deficit of BA Unrestr. prev. 68 EA : 381180 2010 0002 7000000001"
Do you have any clue why is this error coming ?
I have done a stock replenishment to the batch 7000000001 in storage location 0002 for site 2010 on article 381180

  • Inventory Count for Batch Managed materials - Plant, S.Loc and Batch Wise

    Hi.,
In the company's current scenario, the printing of batch managed materials are scheduled under 3 Job names.
    1. First job determines the materials/batches that need to be created today using Program RM07ICN1
    2. Second Job Processes the BDC Session created by Program RM07ICN1 using Program: RSBDCSUB
    3. Third Job prints the Inventory tickts at the appropriate Storage location using Program: RM07IDRU
Each Job has its own variant.
The Variant for SL.No 1 is defined w.r.t
    i. Material Type : Two Material types have been defined
ii. Under selection variable, GIDAT ( Planned count date and GBDAT are flagged.
    Current Analysis:
    A. The inventory documents get printed with Materials as per the cycle counting indicators defined which govern which material has to be currently counted.
    B. Inventory documents are generated for all materials in all the plants and in all the storage locations
    C. Batches for a material number may print on different cycle count documents throughout the year.
    Customer requirement:
The inventory documents to print on basis of
    1. Material, Plant and S.Loc.
This would help in identifying the batches which are currently being counted as well.
    2. Customers requirement is to ensure that all batches are accounted for and will identify any overage of batches since in the current process, they are never reviewed as a whole.
    QUESTION:
    1. How to configure the Customer requriement.
    2. How to configure the Variant/s, if thats the place the configuration has to be done to satisfy the customer.
    3. How to activate the Variant in SE37 after definition in the Step Indicator. Does it activate on execution?
When i run the Program using SE38 , maintaining options in the Screen ( giving Material, Plant and S.loc), i get the desired list (Batches w.r.t Material,plant.S.Loc). But there is a list of over 150 Batch managed materials and it would not be physically possible to maintain the variant for each each Material, plant,S.loc wise.
Is there a way to configure the customer requirement/s.
Any and all help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello Mahesh,
<b>Customer requrirement is specific, they want a list of Inventory Documents to be generated on basis of Material in each Plant-S.Loc batch wise.</b>
Then you need to define multiple varinat for the program.
<b>(a) If i am giving two variants in the same Program name RM07ICN1, how to execute one after after in sequence.
In testing, I have defined in the " Step", Progran RM07ICN1 with one variant and Program RM07ICN1 with another Variant. But on execution of Program RM07ICN1 thru SE38, the screen defined latter ( second variant screen data ) is displayed.</b>
You need to define several steps in SM36 transaction for the program using each variant. SE38 you can use only to save your variant data so later you can use this variant in SM36.
Once you schedule the job with SM36 and release it then it will automatically execute this job as per your criteria (timeline)
    Hope this helps.

  • Batch class at plant level

    Hi Guys,
Is it possible to assign batch class for a material at plant level, the scenario is the material is produced in two plants the batch characteristics for the both plants are different , and hence i want to assign two different batch class to a material .
    Thanks and regards
    Thamizhchelvan G

    Thamizhchelvan,
You cannot have Plant wise Batch Class as this is client level data.
What can be done is assign all the possible characteristics to the Batch Class and assign that class to Material master and you can define the Inspection plan with MIC which are as required by individual Plants, based on this Results would be recorded and Inspection Results can be transferred to Batch Classification for that particular data.

  • Block internal batch number at plant level

    Dear Experts,
I have activated the internal batch number assignments at client level. But for some plants or one of the company code, I want to block the internal batch number creation during the goods receipt at production order confirmation(CO11N). Is it possible ? How? Can we restrict for some of the plants/comany code and allow for other plants/company code?

  • Valuation type with batch management.

    Dear all:
We have created our self valuation category D, without automatic valuation type.
From what we have checked, it is mandatory to enter a valuation type during batch creation with MSC1N. This link between batch master and valuation type is impossible to change.
Our plan was to employ 2 valuation types, independently of the batch used, so that with a STO we could be able to post and outbound movement from valuation type A and a subsequent inbound goods receipt of valuation type B.
That's a problem for us as we use batch numbers to refer to certain material features, and those shouldn't change given the valuation type, so that it is mandatory for us to use the same batch number for both valuation types. Given that the link between batch master and valuation type is unbreakable, this looks not possible.
We already tried to de-activate the valuation type as a required field during the batch creation, but it didn't work as the field still needed an entry during the saving. There are also several error messages that would need to be de-activated (M7043, 06649...)
If we cannot use two valuation types with the same batch, is there any solution we can manage, besides of the duplication of batch numbers?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, Jürgen, thanks for your comments.
We have as well the batch management at plant level, but our idea was to use split valuation in order to avoid the use of plant as the minimum valuation level, as this would have further issues regarding the logistic side (we can use the stock determination group to solve this when using split valuation).
So we face the problem that with a given batch number we cannot post movements with two different valuation types.
I'll take a look at the note anyway, thanks for your help.

  • Batch Managment Activation

    Hi, friends
I want to activate Batch management at plant level.but there is stock in current period as well as previous period(in marterial master plant stock view).Stock exist unresticted stock, stock at vendor ,Quality Inspection stock. How i will do Zero stock at previous period.
    Regards,
    Kamlesh

    Hi
Batchmanagement activation or deactivation should be done initially.
First go to MM02 & try to activate batch , then the system will give error log.
    Read the same.
It looks not only stcoks some other open documents also shouldhave been there.
In that case you have to close all those to activate bacth.
    Please try in above lines.

    Hi,
I you want to activate the batch management, there should be any quants (stocks) left in the storage location, there should not be any open items etc.
You need to take out the whole stock out of the storage location and then try to activate the batch at plant and sloc level, and then you activate the materials in the material master.
    Hope it works.

  • How to deactivate batch management at material master?

    Dear Sir/Madam,
At the configuration,I have set "Batch Management" to be activated in plant level.  I have a problem which some of the plants do not use batch management.I understand that if you tick "Batch Management" field in material master, batch management is activated for the material in that plant.
    1. How do prevent user to tick "Batch Management" field in the material master which appears in the following views (depending on the material types):?
    - Sales: General/Plant
    - Purchasing
    - Plant data/Stor.1
    - Work Scheduling
    2. Is there any alternate way to prevent user to activate "Batch Management" in that material of their own plant despite it is activated at plant level in the configuration?
    Please advise.
    Thanks.
    Rgds,
    Esther Chong

batch status management is just what its name says, you manage your batches with status (unreastricted use, restricted use).
But his comes only into place after you have activated batch managment, it is not causing batch managment, it is only working with batch managment.
Removing batch managment is almost impossible, you have to archive all batches first, to be able to archive the batches, you have to archive the production orders...creation of a new material is in most cases easier and quicker.
Wit batch managment at plant level each plant can independently decide if a material is batch managed or not.
if you want to restrict the entry of the batch management flag, then you have to customize your material master field selection at plant level.

  • Changing Batch Management Level from Material to Plant

    Hi all,
We are investigating changing our batch management level from material to plant to meet business requirements.
SAP has pointed us to a note with a program to reset the batch level, as well as highlighting some things to look out for.
I've conducted the change in a playpen system and so far it looks relatively straightforward, with complexities arising only when characteristics exist, or when a batch exists in multiple plants.
Seems that batch master data is moved from MCH1 to MCHA, including the object link number to classification. Unfortunately it seems a limitation of the conversion is that the batch master data is copied to ONE plant only in MCHA, no doubt due to the fact the object number link to classification must be unique.
My question is this: has anyone performed this change before, and if so can you offer me any advice on what to look out for, or potential problems that arose after the change?
Any help or comments are appreciated.
    Mark.

    hi..
first of all try this simple one...
You will have to delete all the materials, remove stock and then switch the batch management flag.
    Or
To convert the batch from plant level to material there is Conversion Program defind by the SAP...
    1. For all releases lower than Release 4.5B, implement the corrections and the modification in the report RM07CHDX as described in the correction instructions.
    2. Create the report ZCHTCUCH, which is specified in the attachment.
    3. Run this report in the clients for which you want to reset batch level to plant level.
    4. Call transaction OMCT.
    5. Check whether the batch level for "Batch unique at plant level" is set.
    6. Implement Notes 821891, 944278, 950540 and 1091613 if you have not already done so (or you have not imported the corresponding Support Package).
    7. Execute the function "Batch Level -> Conversion".
    8. Define a plant for a plant view that may be missing.
    9. Always execute the report in the test mode first. Analyze the error log.
    10. If no errors occur, you can execute the report in production mode.
    11. If you are working with batch long texts, first execute the report ZM07CHDX_TEXT in test mode.
    try this out..hope is works,,
    Thanks..

  • Batch Management Level

    Hi all,
Batch management drives us difficulty, all finished goods have a batch number in our system. But cause of this our system grows fastly and process management is so difficult. We think about cancelling batch management and use serial number management for product trace. But one of my friends offers me for managing batches as production order level. This means each production order (material differs) will have batch number and at trace the materials with serial number.
I want to know the effects of batch level to the system. For example it's useful to cancel batch management for system growth. Or have we use batch management at one level like production order level? For CO side, it's useful for using batches as production level or completely cancel batch management ?
    Thanks,

    > Thanks,
It appears that you are referirng to an organization which follows discrete manufacturing techniques, where the individual finished item needs to be uniquely identifiable, which is probably satisfied by batches. Your concern of batch numbers getting exhausted is pertitent, given the limitation of 10 character for the batch number.
If I try to compare the pros and cons of serial numbers vis a vis batch numbers, here are the points
    - Batch numbers have the obvious limitation of 10 characters, serial numbers allow 18
    - Batches are normally used in process industry (pharma, food etc), serial numbers are linked to equipments, and have the functionality to check the status at the client level (within which plant/sloc, with customer etc)
    - Tracing the history of a serial number becomes easier (particularly useful in case of customer returns / repairs)
    - Serial numbers are unique, you can have multiple units of a particular batch.
About the question of getting rid of batches altogether, I feel that when serial numbers are present, batches will only lead to additional entry in all movements. Moreover, they will only be redundant, unless you plan to group a few items (serial numbers) into a single batch.
From the CO side, I feel that the production order is the CO object, and hence all costs are accumulated against the order. I do not think having a batch will help from the CO perspective.
