Batch Management - Message no. M7018 "Enter Batch"

Team
We activated batch management for one of the materials and when we perform GR for PO , system expecting us to enter the Batch number, instead of system generating new batch with the error "Message no. M7018".
We have the below setting for "define batch creation for Goods Movement" as "Automatic / Manual without check" for movement type 101.
Not sure where we are missing .
Can you plz through some light on this.
Regards
Gobi

Can you please review note 324517 ? This is for aromatic PO however , the settings in customizing might not be complete  .. ..
Then, in Customizing "MIGO: Field Selection per Movement Type" enter
field name LIFNR for movement types 101 .The corresponding path
is:
> IMG
   > Materials Management
      > Inventory Management and Physical Inventory
        > Settings for Enjoy Transactions
          > Settings for Goods Movements (MIGO)
            > Field Selection per Mvt Type"
Please kindly set that the following entries and make sure that they are
set to optional.

  • How to setup batch management in sap and how batch work?

    Hi
I hope to check how batch managment work in sap?
If we setup batch management in mm03 for one matieral,
Will the batch number be created automatically or the number should be created first then we scan it?
when we do goods movement for this mateiral, will system automatically select which batch number is smallest then move that one, or we select one mateiral and scan its batch?
How batch management control the first in and fisrt out (FIFO) ?
    Thanks

    Hi
I think that you have had your question answered so if you are happy with this can you please award points if you want to but mainly can you please mark your question as answered so that it is easier to navigate around the open questions in the forum as the number of pages are growing and growing and it takes too long to go through everything especially if a satisfactory answer has already been given and people like me who want to help will give up and so some people may not get any help.
    Thanks for this

  • Batch management/Variant Con

Hi Can u send me through my company id please send Batch Mnagement/ Variant Configuration documents to my id is [email protected]
    regards,
    udhay

    dear kumar
Please find the Notes on Batch Management Below:
SAP allows a configuration setting for 3 different batch levels. This wills effective your possibilities. Option Number 2 is the default configuration for SAP out of the box:
1.) Plant - can allow for the Batch Management Flag on a material sold out of 2 different plants to be set independently. Batch numbers can be used for multiple materials, and batch specifications and analytical results can be different for each batch (multiple batch Master records).
2.) Material - Batch Management flag is set the same for the material across all plants that use it. Batch numbers can be used for multiple materials, however, batch specification and analytical results are the same for the batch (one Batch Master Record).
3.) Client - Batch Management flag is set the same for material across all plants that use it. Batch number can only be used for one material across the client. (One Batch Master Record).
If the Batch level flag is set at the Client level, it allows for a batch number to be used with only one material throughout the entire SAP client. This is troublesome with products which are produced in bulk and then packaged into smaller size containers for sale. Due to the limitation of having only one batch number per material, when the product is packaged, new batch numbers have to be assigned to the finished packages, even though the same bulk material is being used inside the package. Because of this work-a rounds have been created and business processes adjusted to accommodate this restriction.
There is a process in SAP that will allow for the conversion of the Batch Level in SAP from Client level to Material level. Please investigate SAP notes 41715, 891902, 893053, 900359 among others, and it appears that there is a conversion program in SAP that will do this in configuration.
In addition to above Please find some more stuff,
A batch in the Materials Management system is defined as a subset or partial quantity of a material that is managed separately from other subsets of the same material. Each batch is identified not only by its material identification but also by a separate batch number. Typical examples of batches include different production lots (such as paints, dyes, wallpapers, and pharmaceutical products), delivery lots, or quality grades of a material.
In Sales and Distribution (SD), it is possible to determine batches that match customer specifications. Batch determination can be triggered at two points in the process, either when the sales order is entered, or when the delivery is created.
If you enter a batch number directly into the sales document, the system checks whether its availability and expiration dates are valid. When you copy a pre-sales document to a sales order, any existing batch numbers are also automatically copied but cannot be changed in the sales order. If you create a sales order with materials to be managed in batches that does not have a preceding document, you can change the batch numbers until subsequent documents, such as the delivery, have also been created. If, when creating a delivery, the system discovers that the copied batch is not valid, a warning is issued by the system. In this case, the batch specification must be changed in the sales document source.
    Maintaining Master Data for Batches
If a material is managed in batches, you indicate this fact in the material master record in either the Purchasing or Plant data/storage 1 views. You can also create and maintain master data for individual batches, specifying such information as the expiration date, valuation type, and the country of origin. If you are planning to use batch split at delivery time, you must also maintain the relevant customer master records for those customers who permit batches to be split.
Entering Batch Number in Sales Document
Before you can enter a batch number in a sales document, a delivering plant must be entered for the item. If no delivering plant is entered, the Batch field remains inactive.
You can find the Batch field on the Item overview tab page in the table with the items.
If you do not know the batch number, you can display all the available batches in the delivering plant for your material, by using the input help.
An availability check is carried out for the batch, which you have entered, and the quantity available is confirmed.
If no batch number is proposed in the sales order for an item with material to be handled in batches, automatic batch determination can be carried out in the delivery.
There are four points at which you should use batch determination in Sales & Distribution. These are:
    Quotations
    Quantity contracts
    Sales orders (or scheduling agreement)
    Delivery
We use batches in SD where the materials are produced under one batch and they are given the shell life expiry date for each batch,
A1) Normally we use batch determination at delivery level, because at the time of order material may or may not be created. For this material should be configured with batch and batch determination should be checked in sales views of material.
A2) Batch Determination during order Creation.
For this you need to maintain Classes d for you Material. Depending on the Manufacturing process you can define the characteristics for your material.
Ex: Purity for Medicines, Resistance for Electric Items.
You need to create a class (You might have to create a new class type) which incorporates the characteristic.
First Create the Characteristic Using CT04 and then using CL02 create the Class including this characteristic.
Then in your material master Classification View Enter this class.
Then Create a Batch for the particular plant and Storage Location using MSC1N.Give the value of the characteristics in this batch.
Then go to SPRO ->Logistics General ->Batch Management and maintain the Condition Technique (Procedure, Strategy Types and assignment to sales docs etc).
Then Create the Batch Determination Record using VCH1.

  • Free Goods with Batch Management Activated !!!

    Hi Gurus,
I have defined a free goods master data for material on which batch is activated. I have defined the it as with a min of 10 qty 1 free good will be delivered as exclusive item
Now as the batch management is active and each batch has 1 qty in it. Now in order to deliver 1 free good first i have to enter 10 line item of the same material and after the 11 th line system should generate 1 free good item. But this is not happening is there any standard configuration required for this process
Early reply will be awarded accordingly.

    Hi Abaper,
Free Goods Determination follows the condition technique and hence you should have one condition type assigned to it one access sequence and then maintain the condition type (NA00) in a Free Goods Determination  Procedure (NA0000).
Then assign this procedure to your permitted sales area and maintain the free goods determination master data (VBN1).
Also Check the settings of Item Category Assignment
    It should be ORNORMFREE+TAN -
    > TANN.
By this settings your free goods should work.
    Reward if it helps you

Free goods is determined per sales order item. The system does not take the sum of more items. You have to insert the quantity on one item.

  • Batch management and returns

Hi we are a soft drink manufacturer, we have batch management for raw materials but also need it for finished goods.  OK so no problem works well so far.  However we do send out trucks with product on board, those truck may not sell all of the product on the truck that day so we need to bring partial pallets / batches back to the warehouse.  In SAP how do we do the batch management on partial pallets or batches.  It is not convenient to create a new batch for one case of soft drinks or maintain an existing batch for one case.  Anyone have any thoughts on how to manage this process?
Looking forward to reading your thoughts on this.
    Regards,

Hi Mario, I've been reading up on documentary batches and a few questions if you are able to answer.
    The information say
You can enter document batches in the following process steps:
u2022 Goods receipt for external procurement
    u2022 Goods receipt for subcontracting
    u2022 Goods issue for subcontracting
    u2022 Goods receipt from production
    u2022 Goods issue to production
    u2022 Picking delivery to customer
Doesn't mention bringing the product back into stock .... is this supported
    And
No functions in batch status management (in other words, no stock postings take place when the batch status changes
So will docuementary batches support my scenario where product is loaded onto a truck partially sold then returned to warehouse to be loaded again the next day?
Can you hightlight the steps to complete this process if possible?
    Thanks

  • Batch Management cannot be activated

    Hi,
Its just not another Batch management activation issue. I read through the earlier posts without much help.
I'm creating a 'New' material and after entering all information in MM01. When I tick 'Batch Management Indicator' in either purchasing or plant/storage view, I get display error which reads 'Batch management may not be defined for value only materials'.
The material type used is spare parts and in OMS2 it uses both Quantity/Value updating. Valuation category is blank in accounting view. The material type is not semi-finished or finished goods. I have checked all the batch management config in Logistics general-->batch management and it appears fine.
What can be the possible reasons for the error?

    Hi MB,
Its a simple Logic that if the material stocks aren't quantity updated how can you have stocks for the materials? No stocks No batch. If you have configured wrongly for value only then change the same in OMS2.

  • Packing handling units to outbound delivery with batch management

    Hello all,
I am packing an outbound delivery with a material that has batch management active. The packing is from a storage location that manages handling units (HU-managed sloc).
My problem is u2013 before entering the HUs to the delivery u2013 the system asks me to enter the batches (in the batch split function). Only then I am allowed to enter the HUs in the packing function.
What could be the reason for this preliminary batch entries ?
How can I set the system not to do that, i.e., I would like to be able to enter the HUs directly without entering the batchs separately.
    Thanks,
    Isaac

    Dear Isaac,
this system behaviour can not be changed in standard and is also not recommended to change it via a modification. The reason for this system behaviour is to avoid inconsistencies in the system. The HU that you assign to the delivery, should exactly fit to the delivery. In case if the material is batch managed, you should specify the batch first, and then add the fitting HU with exactly that batch.
I suppose you checked the longtext for HUDIALOG102, that you get in the described case, but I copy it for you, in case if you did not read it:
    "Diagnosis
There are items to be handled in batches which have not yet been
    assigned to a batch.
Batches must be recognized for items with HU-managed storage location
For items at a storage location that is not HU-managed, the item type
determines if packing will take place at cumulated item quantity level
(meaning that the batch is not recognized at any point in the handling
unit) or if packing must take place at batch level.
    System Response
If an item requires batch identification, that item will not be
suggested for packing as long as the batch is not recognized.
    Procedure
Go to the maintenance of the delivery item and assign at least one batch
    to the item."

  • Avoid duplicate batch (batch managment)

    dear all,
We are facing problem related to batch managment .we are using manual batch entry .we don't want to make duplicate entry of same batch (which have already assign to material) against any material.what is solution to avoid duplicate batch entry.
can u tell me the settings and any user exit in which we can avoid the duplicate batch.

    Hi hema,
in our scenario user  manually enter  batch of raw material in MIGO when we do good recipte in MIGO againts purchase order we enter batch manually.but we need that a batch which has already assign to raw material can not be assign again .if user enter the previous batch then system gives a error that batch has already exist.

  • Batch management + QM.

    Hello Freinds,
Please help me in following senario,
My client is manufacturing food colors, for which I have activated batch management.
Now, for a batch  purity of color is one of the characteristics,
My requirement is that when I will do the result recording in QE51n, then the value for that particular characteristics (ie purity) will atomatically updated in the batch which is created at production order.
    Please send me your suggestions.
    Regards,
    Amit Shirsath.

In the result recording process QE51N
Most of the time  results are setup with M0 characteristics for entering results. These M0 results are transferred to batch record. So define your M0 characteristc for result recording
Results are recorded in samples of operation. These are steps involved in brief.
    1.Select the inspection lot
    2.Select the sample from operation
    3.Record results,select characteristic,valuate .
    4.Lock the results(lock icon)
    5.Save and valuate the sample
6.Click the green check in valuation pop up box to transfer results to batch record(important)
To check the quality results copied ,check the display batch icon in the QE51N screen,If the characteristic is properly valuated and saved ,the same can be seen in batch---classification view.
    Reward points if useful.
    Regards

  • Removal of batch management indicator from material master

I had removed all batch stock from material code but when trying to remove batch management indicator from material master system is giving the message "batches already exist"
    Please suggest the solution.

    Hi,
The material is NEW and Batch Managed.  No stocks, orders, batches are existing.
If the Batch Management indicator is removed in Material Master, is there any way *to see/track the batch/lot * of the product.
Scenarios: Material is NOT Batch Managed
    1.     How to track a batch received for Purchase order.
    2.     How to track a Batch created in a Production order.
    3.     How to track a Batch in Sales Order.

  • Batch determination & Batch Management

    Hi Gurus,
Can anyone plz send me the batch determination screen shots in SD point of view urgent to my mail [email protected]
    Thanks

    Hi Ngassom,
    BATCH DETERMINATION:

  • Change Batch Management Flag in Material Master

    TCode : MM17
    Select General Material Data     MARA
    Execute(F8)
    Enter Material Number
    Execute(F8)
Click on Select Fields Icon above New Values under General Material Data tab
    Choose "Batch Management"
Check/Uncheck Flag for Batch Management & Save

    Hi there,
Besides the note 30656 , there are two important points to be take into your consideration:
    1) If you want to change the batch management, it is not enough to check for stock. You must also reorganize all existing batches for the material. You can do this using the TA MM73 and MM74 or SARA. After you have reorganized the batches you should be able to change the batch management. The Object to use in the txn SARA is MM_SPSTOCK. You must first set the deletion flag for the batch using txn MCH2.
    2) If you have defined the batch level in the TA OMCE to 'unique at material level', it is not possible to turn off the batch management flag in one plant. You can can only turn it off for all plants at the same time. That means if you want to turn it off, the system checks all plants for the existence of stock. In other words, the batch management flag will be the same for all plants at any time if you use the batch level 'unique at material level'.
    Hope this helps!

  • Switching ON Batch Management

    Hi Gurus,
Need your help. I am sure you have done this before
In a live system, I need to switch ON Batch Management. Till now these materials were managed without Batch Management. So they have stock on hand, open sales orders, open deliveries, open invoices, open purchase orders.
When I try to change the indicator in MM02, it lists all those open transactional data. I possibly have to reverse/cancel all those open orders etc - then write off the stock - then switch on batch management - then finally re-enter all the open orders.
But to do it manually is a monumental task. Also, it needs to be done in a very short time frame. Can you please suggest any program or automated/semi-automated way to do it.
Or is there any other smarter way you can suggest.
    I appreciate your help.
    Regards
    Bis

    Hi Venkat,
Thanks a lot for your suggested notes. They are helpful indeed.
Would you by any chance know of any report that I can run for a range of materials which will list all the open documents, ie, sales orders, deliveries, billing documents ?
And, other than MM03, is there any report which will list the stock in previous period ?
    Thanks again.

  • QM In-Process Inspection for Batch Managed Material

    Hi,
I have a issue related to UD of In-Process inspection for batch managed material. The production process is discrete manufacting for a cold rolling mill. A production order can have mutiple coils as per the production amount. To track the individual coil , batch management has ben activated. We have both in-process as well as inspection after production here.
For inspection after production we are fine as we are doing partial confirmation after every coil and have separate inspection lot having different batch number.
But for in-process I can have only one inspection lot for the production order (created on release of the production order). I can do the result recording but while trying to do UD u2013 it is asking for a batch number as the material is batch managed. W/o entering the batch number system is not allowing me to do the UD.
Is there any solution/work around of this problem.
    -Regards
    ashim

    Hi Ashim,
you raised a very good question? i am helpless here to execute same scenario,
but i disussed with my QM guy here, he said, once the material is batch managed then it has to ahve batch in UD.
so i discussed ur case, which is very much valid for heavy ind like cement and all,
so what i suggest, u create a dummy batch in the UD for in process (no inventory posting)
and at confimation give ur usual batch (if system propose the dummy batch which u give in the UD for inprocess, try to change there--- i hope it should allow)
i would really like to here answer from u for this.
try to do as suggested, and let me know the results.
