Batch managment/ classification

pls
can u give total custmiztion part of above topics ,in detail
for material managment view.
thanks advane

Hi,
There are two parts in customization
1. Classification and material master creation
2. Config for batch management.
1. Classification and Material master creation
      a) Create Characteristics in CT04 -- as  many characteritics
      b) Create Class in T.code : CL02   --Say XCLASSand assign all the characteritics what you have created
      c) Go to MM01 select the basic view and classification
      d) enter the basic data and in the classification select the class (eg) XCLASS  and save
     e) Go to MM01 and create all the other views in Purchasing Tick  Batch Management.. and save the Material Master
2. Go to SPRO-Logistics General--Batch Management and configure all the steps
3.create a P.O and do the GR

  • Batch managment with classification

    Hi,
I have material with batch and classification. Material master have base unit KG, but I need second unit PC or M and other parameters of material. (coefficient between KG and PC is not constant).
I give to classification attributes fields: quantity, length. width, ...
In goods receipt I input batch with classification (quantity, length. width, ...)
Where can I see batch balance with classification ?
Is possible recalculate attribute of classification quantity after goods issue or how I can manage balance of quantity?
    thank
    beto

    Hi,
Once you fix the classification, i don't think you can recalculate the classification, what do you mean by batch balance?

  • Classification purchase order (with batch management)

    Hi,
I need some help in the next situation:
I need to order a material with batch management. I've used the classification system to assign the material specifications to the material of a batch. When I create a purchase order I want to specify some caracteristics as a lowest level than the material level, but that specifications are not real, it's a kind of a limitation.
I don't now if I can use some classification of purchase order or somthing like that.
    Thanks a lot and regards.

    Create characteristics CT04
    Process to create class CL02
when you create a class with type 001 it is Material class, it means when you assign the class at the material level you are assigning those characteristics to the material not to the specific batches.
But if you create a class with type 023 it is batch class. You will assign this class at the material when creating in MM01 under classification tab and check the Batch management tab in purchasing or sales data while creating a material.
This will help you to classify each batch with different characteristic values. when you create the batch with MSC1n you batch will be automatically classified with the batch class from material and you can give the values over there.
You can give the values for the batch when you receive the batch in MIGO, even though u give the batch in PO u can give the details in classification for that batch in MIGO when u receive it in the item tab "Batch" there is button classification to give those values.
    hope it helps.

  • Classification, Batch Management, Serialisation Profile along with QM

    Hi All GURUS,
I have very interesting scenario to work on. My client requirement is to identify produciton lot seperately and maintain production data seperately for each production lot. Also for some materials client requires to maintain unit/pc specific data like weight within each production lot. Apart from this they want to classify all SFG and FG on the basis of characteristics. And some of these classification characterstics gets its value from result recording of inspection characteristics of QM module.
What I consider as possible option is to use Batch Management + Serialisation + Classification functionality and to link Classification characteristics to Inspection Characteristics of QM.
But I dont know whether this is possible or not and how to do it. So, I request you all GURU to validate this and guide me in doing this, how to link master data and configuration part.
Help at your earliest convenience is solicited.
    Thanks and regards.

    Hi,
You can use batch management with serialisation. Also as mentioned by you need to connect insp char with batch chars.
I am not sure what you mean by lot here. But as you said it should be a batch. so you can trace all the production lots by batch. this means, you need to have a batch for each production order. after prodn this batch should go to quality. Have insp plan for GR from production Material master QM view insp type 04. may be you will also need insp type 03 ( inprocess insp) for FG or SFG.
Think these lines , then you will be able to cover all the aspects of the process. DO test each and every process & see whether requirements are getting fulfilled or not.
For any further query you can contact me.

  • Material classification and batch management

    Hello all,
we have to urgently incorporate a subcontracting process at a semiconductor manufacturing client. They also want to incorporate batch management for 541 and 543 movements. I understand that classification will have to be maintained for the materials first and also related configuration for batch management for movement types.
Can anyone point me to the sequence of steps necessary to make this possible.
    Many thanks
    satya

u need not worry about charc. in release strategy as btch char. and release strategy cchar,. are completly 2 diffrent things
and yes u must make use of class type 023
and the tcode for generating the condition record for the batch management is MBC1 (u must create a reord if u want that ur batch strategy should work properly)

  • Is it possible to activate Batch Management for a material without Class?

    Dear Experts,
Is it possible to activate Batch Management for a material without having Class & Characteristics maintained. As my requirement is to procure Fuels in Batches only with external no. assignment without any parameters to be checked at the time of Goods Receipt? Batches are needed for Accountability purpose.

    Please check this answered link:
    Batch-classification view
If you want classify a batch, then you should have maintained the batch classification in material master which is either class 022 or class 023 (depends on your batch level set in cusotmizing). The material class 001 has no impact on the batch classifcition, it is what it is: a classification for the material.

  • Batch management issue.

    hello all,
i have batch management active in mm,automatic batch is created during GR.
now i want to implement fifo goods issue, but it needs material master view to be extended to classificatio tab under which i will assign the class.we have almost 20000 material already in sap system ,this may be a big task to assign class to each material.
is there any another settings or configuration available for fifo goods issue.
    i know the settings like.
create a characteristic for last Goods receipt date with table name MCH1 & field LWEDT
    - Assign this to class
    - Create sort sequence with ascending order CU70
    - Then create batch search strategy in MBC1 transaction if you want batch determination in production order
    - Give the sort rule there
    pls suggest me.
    regards
    simran.

    hello all,
i am configuring fifo goods issue for 351 movement type.
during configuration i have found following settings.pls tell me whats the difference between all these 4 option given below.what option i would choose for fifo.
IMG > Logistics-General > Batch Management > Batch Valuation > Activate batch classification for goods movement in IM (only on Mvt Type 201 and not on 202)
         No branching to batch classification
1     Classification carried out in background (all batches)
2     Classification only in foregr.for mand.charac. (all batches)
3     Classification always in foreground (all batches)
4     Classification in foreground for new batches only

    Dear All,
       I am new to MM,
We are using batch at plant level. For some materials user don’t want maintain
Batch classification in Material Master. At the time of Goods Receipt posting with ref-to PO user getting warning message like <b>’For batch 0000000139 of material 212030602400000 4F10, no class could</b>’. I check system messages setting transaction code OCHS for batch management, but I didn’t found this type of message in the list.
Plzz can any one help me where I need to change system settings?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Articles with Batch management

    Hello SAP Gurus,
When we post a sale in WPER we are getting an error saying "Enter Batch XXXXXXXX". I have that article batch managed and I have done the below steps.. but still I am getting this error.
    1. Created a  Characteristic via CT04 for batch handling in the search strategy with class type "23"table name "MCHA" and field name "CHARG". If you are working with fixed value of batches, define it as the characteristic values or if you have batches creating internally by the system, Put a * in it.
    2. Created a class in CL02 with class type "23" and assign this newly created characteristic to it.
    3. created a sort rule in CU70 and assign this same characteristic to it and select the ascending or desending check box based upon your choice of "FIFO" or "LIFO".
    4. created a new strategy for batch determination while doing different inventory movements. Go to Logistics General  Batch Management  Batch Determination & Batch Check  Strategy Types  Define Inventory Management Strategy Type. Copy the standard one and create one for you and assign the class and sort sequence created above to it and define the number of spilts of batches, should happen, if in case one batch is insufflcient to handle the required movement of stock. maximum it could be 999.
    5. created batch search procedure definition. Go to Logistics General  Batch Management  Batch Determination & Batch Check  Batch Search Procedure Definition  Define Inventory Management Search Procedure. Copy the standard one and create one for you and assign the condiiton type created in the step above (strategy) and save it.
    6.  assigned the class created above to all the relevant article via CL20N.
    7. assigned batch search procedure to the relevant movement types. Go to transaction OMCG and assign the mvt type 301, 311 and other relevant movement types.
    8. Maintained the condition record for the Batch Search Strategy via MBC1 / MBC2.
    9. Activated Batch classification for goods movements via OMCV as per choice.
    10. Thru WE19 posted one WPUBON
    11. Still I am getting the error " enter batch"
    Thanks
    MG

    Thanks for the reply Tobias,
In WPUBON do you know which user exit we need to use? though I am guessing we need  to use "EXIT_SAPLWPUE_102" .

  • Initial stock load of batch managed materials

    Hi,
We are using batch management for FERT materials. The class type 022 is being used for creating batch class. The class has been assigned to six characteristics.
We need to load the initial stock of all these FERT items with batches with corresponding classification values within the batch. I know that system creates the batches during initial load. However, it does not provide the classification button. This is the issue only for 561 movement. For all other receipts we get the classification button.
Can anybody help me understand if I am missing any config or I am following wrong process to upload initial stock with batches.
Thank you for all your help you could provide.
    -Shekhar

Can you please explain me the process of "load the classification for the batches".
We have materials with class 022. In CL20N it asks for material and class type. Using this we can enter the characterstics values for a material, but not batch.
I can change the batch to enter the characterstics values. Is it supposed to be that way? I mean do I have to load the classification using MSC2N? Or I am missing something?
    Thanks,
    -Shekhar

  • Batch Management and Others

    Dear Experts,
Client system is already having some materials. From these 100 materials ,we would block the 99 materials and the rest material(say X) will be managed in batches. To do this I have thought in the following way:
1.Posting stock to the  the material X through material to material transfer.
2.Activate deletion flag to the 99 materials and change the deletion flag message type to Error message from the warning.
3.Blocking the transaction of these materials for two to three hours.
4.Create a new material and manage it with batch with classification.(say Y)
5.Material to material stock tranfer from X to Y.
6.Change the BOMs where these 99 materials were used.
7.Material assignment to routing operation does not require change as components were assigned to operation through default first operation, which will be managed by the system itself when I change the BOM.
Anything more I require to plan..Pl advice
    Regards
    Reshmi

    Dear Rupesh,
My req is I would like to remove the redundant materials, instead I shall manage these materials through a single material by batch management with classification.but the materials are already in the system without batch management. So until or unless i remove the stock ,the material can not be batch managed. And to remove all materials by a single materials I require the existing stocks of the materials to be updated with the single material, which can be done through material to material transfer.I think I have cleared the issue.

  • Configuration steps for Quality and Batch Management.

    Hi Friends,
We are implementing QM along with Batch Management for testing the material like purity, pathology tests.
I am new to Quality and Batch Management.
Could any one guide me, how to configure material master for QM and Batch to test the material?.
    Thanks

    1) Maintain Material with Classification and Quality Management view
    2) Tick the Check box Quality key Active in QM View->QM view->Inspection Set up and activate the inspection type for which the inspection lot.(e.g insp. type 01 - GR against PO)
    3) Create Quality Info Record(QI01)
    4) In PO the stock automatically goes to Quality stock.
    5) Check MMBE stock
    6) Do Result Recording and Usage Decision(QA32)
    7) Check stock (MMBE).
There are few steps where the PP/QM Consultant need to help you in QI01,QA32 and in Creating characteristics and class according to  Requirement(purity...etc).

  • Batch Management in different plants

    Hey SAPers
I am using batch managment for certain materials. But I don't need batch management of same materials in other plant. SAP is not allowing to change the status in other plants.
Business needs to maintain materials in batches in warehouse but not in stores.
Do we have a way out for this problem.
    Please respond.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    MAM.

    dear abdul
You can manage batches in different plants for many materials. For this reason, batches must be uniquely identifiable. In the SAP System, the batch number uniquely identifies the batch. You use the batch level to specify whether the batch number for a material is unique in one plant, or in all plants.
You choose the batch level in Customizing for Batch Management under Specify Batch Level and Activate Status Management
    Batch Levels
    Plant level
The batch number is unique in connection with the plant and material.
The batch number is only known in the plant in which it was created if the stock is transferred to another plant, the batch is unknown in the recipient plant and the system does not adopt any data. You have to recreate and specify the batch in the receiving plant; that is, the same batch number may have different specifications in several plants.
    Material level:
The batch number is unique in all plants in connection with the material.
The same batch number has the same meaning for the material in all plants. One batch number cannot have different specifications in different plants. During stock transfer to another plant, the specification of the batch is known in the destination plant even if the batch is placed into storage in that plant for the first time.
    Client level:
The batch number is unique in the whole client. A batch number can only be assigned once in the client. You cannot assign the same batch number for different materials.
The batch number is only unique at the chosen level.
    Changing the Batch Level
In the standard SAP System, the plant level is set as the batch level. If you want to use a different level in your company, you have to change it in Customizing and carry out a conversion program.
You choose the batch level in Customizing for Batch Management under Specify Batch Level and Activate Status Management.
While the conversion program is running, you can only post batches at the old level. You can only post batches at the new level after the conversion has been completed.
You cannot change back from a higher level to plant level in the standard system. However, you can change the batch level from client level back to material level.
To change the batch level from plant level to material level, the material has to be subject to batch management in all plants.
This will help you for config setting:

  • Batch management + QM.

    Hello Freinds,
Please help me in following senario,
My client is manufacturing food colors, for which I have activated batch management.
Now, for a batch  purity of color is one of the characteristics,
My requirement is that when I will do the result recording in QE51n, then the value for that particular characteristics (ie purity) will atomatically updated in the batch which is created at production order.
    Please send me your suggestions.
    Regards,
    Amit Shirsath.

In the result recording process QE51N
Most of the time  results are setup with M0 characteristics for entering results. These M0 results are transferred to batch record. So define your M0 characteristc for result recording
Results are recorded in samples of operation. These are steps involved in brief.
    1.Select the inspection lot
    2.Select the sample from operation
    3.Record results,select characteristic,valuate .
    4.Lock the results(lock icon)
    5.Save and valuate the sample
6.Click the green check in valuation pop up box to transfer results to batch record(important)
To check the quality results copied ,check the display batch icon in the QE51N screen,If the characteristic is properly valuated and saved ,the same can be seen in batch---classification view.
    Reward points if useful.
    Regards
    George
