Batch master - Need clarification

Hi,
I have total shelf life as one of the characteristics in the class that is assigned to a class in the material master.
Total shelf life is also field in batch master.
When i change the value of the "total shelf life" field in the material master (MARC-MHDHB), it is not reflecting in the batch master.
For example: In the beginning Total shelf life is 90 days in the material master and i create a new batch for this material in the plant. Value of total shelf is in the batch characteristic and batch master is 90 days.
Now if i change the value of total shelf life in the material master to 200 days, save the material. When i display the batch master, this change is not reflected in total shelf life field. It still reads - 90 days..
Is this valid?
Please clarify.

RJS

Hi,
you have maintained the characterstic as shelf life right and i hope you ahve given teh values for the characterstics
Now when a batch is created automaticallly it will give  a pop up to sleect the value as epr the selction given in the value it will replicate into the batch master
*the beginning Total shelf life is 90 days in the material master and i create a new batch for this material in the plant. Value of total shelf is in the batch characteristic and batch master is 90 days.
Now if i change the value of total shelf life in the material master to 200 days, save the material. When i display the batch master, this change is not reflected in total shelf life field. It still reads - 90 days..
Here select the value of teh chracterstics as 200 and then when a batch is created automatically duriong the Gr it gives the SLED as per this
Hope tis clear

    Hello,
I faced the problem with BATMAS03.  When drilling down to F'tn BAPI_BATCH_SAVE_REPLICA I could that one and similar BATMAS03 get to work with filling following set of fields.  Adapt of course the values to you're system.
    BAPIBATCH_SAVE_REPLICA_
    MATERIAL = 000000000000033001
    BATCH = 12543872
    PLANT = D010
    CLASSALLOCATIONS
    CLASS_TYPE 023
OBJECTKEY 00000000000003300112543872 (in our case MATNR&BATCH combination, dependend on system setting Plant could also be needed)
    CLASSNUM FROZEN_FINISHED (Classification Class)
    OBJECTTABLE MCH1
    CLASSVALUATIONSCHAR
    CLASS_TYPE 023
    OBJECTKEY 00000000000003300112543872
    OBJECTTABLE MCH1
    CHARACT LOBM_ZUSTD
    VALUE_CHAR X
This works now fine and similar for the BATMAS IDOC
Hope this is helpfull for you.

  • What is user exit to update individual length in batch master?

    Hi,
We need some help on user exit. We are using     MILL production, SAP_MILLCA_LENGTH_SUB.
May I know what is the user exit will be called when we perform good issue to production order (movement type 261)?
We need to customize some logic to update the individual length in batch master.
    Any sugession?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You can do this things by maintaining  material classification with characteristic by length or breadth. So at the time of GR you have to maintain the characteristic field and by the help of batch search strategy you can get the relevant batch.
You search extensively in google you can find proper documentations for the same.

  • Production GR Batch master u2013 Country of origin code Mismatch with Material

    Hi Friends,
As per my scenario, after production confirmation (Cor6 u2013T code) batch master is getting created (101-GR). But the country of origin is updated wrongly in the batch master.
Letu2019s say, MM master Foreign trade view-import/export has country of origin X.  Here some time, system is updating in the GR-master correctly as X when the GR happens by COR6. But some time it is taking some other valueu2014say-Y u2013other country code.
FYI...we are not using classification value and all....only reference is MM master
    Need help..
1, From where the country of origin is captured in Batch master during the time of confirmation? ( here the material is for inhouse-E item)
    2. My requirement is, it has to follow only the MM master-X. But some time it is correct. (taking X)u2026.some time, for the same order confirmation,it is taking Y---From where ?  Any Idea?

  • Batch Master Records

    Hi,
Can someone please guide me with what is the use of creation of batch master records using tcode MSC1????
When we can create batches during PO creation or GR.
    What is the difference?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Smitha

    HI,
Normally certain materials like chemicals need to be produced  or procured in batches. For those materials you have to activate the batch management  in the material master. check the purchasing or mrp view.there will be  a check box.
for thosse materials system will create batches automatically while receiving or producing.
if the material is having the shelf life you need to give in the material master.
MSC1N facilitates to create the batch manually.you can create a batch at this transaction code and enter this batch at MIGO screen while receiving.

  • Auto creation of Batch master data when external batch no entered in PR

    Dear All,
At persent we can auto create batches at production order creation level, Goods receipt level.
In same way how we can achive auto creation of Batch master data at Purchase Requisition level.
    Regards,
    Manoj

There is no auto-creation of batches that are entered in ME51N. SAP issues message ME178 telling you that the batch entered does not exist.
You have to maintain the batch in MSC1N first, then you can enter it in the PR.

  • Authorization control for batch master

    Hello Experts,
I have a special requirement from client on authorization control on batch master. The requirement is user should not be allowed to change the batch header details but allow to change selected characteristic values. For e.g If I have a batch A, the header values such as prod date, country of orgin etc should not be allowed to change. In classification view few characteristics only should be editable, rest all should only be displayed.
Is there any option to do this. Either through authorization control or exits. We dont want to create a custom transaction to achieve this.

  • Migo and Batch master showing different vendor

    Hi Experts,
    Process Followed:
    1. In Migo Screen selecting goods reciept and Others and movement type 901 i will enter all the details such as material, quantity, plant,vendor-X and then click on check then system creates internal batch number.
    2. After System creates the internal batch number i will change from Vendor - X to Vendor Y in migo and save it
    3. Then if i see the batch master then system is showing the Vendor X in batch master instead of Vendor Y.
Please let me know how can i update the vendor in migo the same to batch master after changing in Migo. Please find the attachments

  • Control of Change of Vendor in Batch Master

    Hi Experts,
We have a scenario wherein we want that when a batch is recieved from EG Vendor, the batch master should get populated with Vendor number (available in standard SAP) and when we do an IG recipet i.e when we transfer the batch from one company code to another or one plant to another, the vendor number shoudln t get changed (i.e. it should remain that of EG vendor and not get changed to that of IG vendor on IG reciept).
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Arun
Edited by: Arun Mann on Mar 25, 2009 2:11 PM

you may have to code an userexit to keep the first value.
alternative add the original vendor as a charcteristic to your batch classification.

  • Need Clarification On Internal tables in Start Routine

    Hi,
I have intenal table some IT_A which deletes the requests which are populated in to it.
Now I need to populate requests into IT_A from  another internal table like IT_B which are of different structure.
I have three fields in common in both internal tables like RNR,Timestamp n SID with different field names
I Need Clarification that if i move the contents of the three fields to IT_A from IT_B by spcifying these three fields. Will the internal table IT_A deletes the Requests?
    Thanks,
    Sriram.

    Hi Sriram,
As mentioned IT_A deleted the request loaded into it.
if you move the contents of the three fields to IT_A from IT_B by spcifying the three fields after the deletion step for internal table IT_A takes place then it wont get deleted.
But it would be deleted if the the contents are moved before the deletion step takes place

  • Need clarification on issue with tablespaces

    Hi All,
I needed clarification on this issue with tablespaces.I am following a guideline which says "Presently,The general rule of thumb is to concentrate on tablespaces that are 90% or greater used and have less than 2 GB of free space"
My Scenario:-Now i have tablesace which is 97.23 % and the free space is 10 gb.Please advise me that whats the best next step I can take in this respect?
I am very new to this and just following the guideline,so can you all please explain me some details about this.
    Thanks

Well, the guideline says "*and* have less than 2 GB of free space"
Since that tablespace as 10GB of free space, the guideline says that you do not need to concentrate on it. Eh ?
I would be careful with guidelines that are hard-coded in this manner. You need to know the context in which the guideline was set.
Assuming that your database/application doesn't grow suddenly by 1GB or larger (or create temporary segments / objects of 1GB or larger), the "2 GB of free space" might make sense. Then, again, it depends on the extent allocation type. What size are extents getting allocated.
You should check with your organisation's senior DBAs on what happens if you don't concentrate on a tablespace because it is outside the guidelines !

  • Need clarification on Bigfile Tablespaces

In the following Oracle Documentation Lirbary PDF,
        Oracle® Database
        Concepts
        10g Release 2 (10.2)
        B14220-02
        October 2005
    section
        Overview of Tablespaces
        Bigfile Tablespaces (page: 3-5)
    it says,
        Benefits of Bigfile Tablespaces
        * Bigfile tablespaces can significantly increase the storage capacity of an Oracle database. Smallfile tablespaces can contain up to 1024 files, but bigfile tablespaces contain only one file that can be 1024 times larger than a smallfile tablespace. The total tablespace capacity is the same for smallfile tablespaces and bigfile tablespaces. However, because there is a limit of 64K database for each database, a database can contain 1024 times more bigfile tablespaces than smallfile tablespaces, so bigfile tablespaces increase the total database capacity by 3 orders of magnitude. In other words, 8 exabytes is the maximum size of the Oracle database when bigfile tablespaces are used with the maximum block size (32k).
I need clarification on how to arrive at 8 exabytes ?
    1024 x 32k x 64,000 ??
According to the exerpt above, there's no mention of maximum number of Operating System blocks per extent. Unless this was assumed knowledge ... how do I get 8 exabytes ?
And if "a database can contain 1024 times more bigfile tablespaces than smallfile tablespaces", then what's the upper limit on smallfile tablespaces ? -- was this sentence referring to the number of datafiles per smallfile tablespace ? ...
    O_o
    Thanks !

    Hi,
According to [url http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/limits002.htm#i287915]Physical Database Limits page, a bigfile tablespace contains only one datafile or tempfile, which can contain up to approximately 4 billion ( 232 ) blocks. The maximum size of the single datafile or tempfile is 128 terabytes (TB) for a tablespace with 32K blocks and 32TB for a tablespace with 8K blocks. In resume, A bigfile tablespace is a tablespace containing a single datafile that can be as large as 128 terabytes (TB), depending on the block size of the tablespace. In conjunction with setting the initialization parameter DB_FILES to the maximum value of 65,635 the total size of the database can be more than 8 exabytes (EB)
    >>how do I get 8 exabytes ?
You can calculate the maximum amount of space (M) in a single Oracle database as the maximum number of datafiles (D) multiplied by the maximum number of blocks per datafile (F) multiplied by the tablespace block size (B):
M = D * F * B. Therefore, the maximum database size, given the maximum block size and the maximum number of datafiles, is:
    65,535 datafiles * 4,294,967,296 blocks per datafile * 32,768 block size = 9,223,231,299,366,420,480 = 8EB.Cheers

  • BPM, Workflow and Netweaver - Need Clarification

    Hi Guru,
I am new to workflow, BPM and Netweaver.  I have several questions about those concepts.
    1. What is/are the different between workflow and webflow.  Which scenario should take workflow into consideration? Which scenario webflow can be applied to?
    2. What is/are the different between workflow and BPM.  If I am going to implement workflow in a company, do I need to implement business workflow as well as BPM?
    3. I need clarification on Netweaver platform and concept.
    4. What is/are the different between workflow in R/3 and workflow under Netweaver?
    5. If I am going to implement workflow integrated with R/3 and Outlook email, do I need to buy new wrokflow for Netweaver and Netweaver platform or alternatively, I can use business workflow module under R/3 system?
Sorry for many questions asked. I am new to those products.  I am now working on software selection for workflow technology.  My company is going to implement new workflow to client.  Thank you very much.
    Cheers,

Please ask only one (or closely related) questions per thread. This makes it a lot easier to get a good structure in the database of previously answered questions. While we are on the subject of previously answered questions, I think you should have a look at them....
    My suggestion is therefore:
    1. Close this thread
    2. Read the Frequently Answered Questions. Before you ask (here are many workflow answers)
    3. Search the forum.
    4. Create new threads if you have questions afterwards.

  • Batch Master Changes reflecting all plant with same Batch

    HI,
When we are doing any change in Batch Master ( MSC2n ) for one plant  like Shelf Life expiry date or Classification data for one plant.
its automatically reflect on all plants for same batch.
    Example:
    Material : 123456
    Batch :  10925
Shelf Life Expiry is : 31.12.2014
    Plant : 1000
This Batch is available on 10 plants for same material.
Now when i change Expiry date from 31.12.2014 to 31.12.2015 on Plant 1000 for Batch 10925
its also change on all other 10 plants.
How can we restrict this behaviour we only want to change on 1000 plant . should not change other plats.
    Regards

Thanks all for your replies. yes i have check the system and Batch Level is defined on Material Level.
Jurgen actually this question is not related to expiry exactly. just for
good understanding of question i put question like this.
in classification tab we have one parameter  "Release Status" which have value
X or Y. X means release and Y means Not release.
We are using this parameter for Auto batch determination purpose. if value is Y then this
batch will not come in auto batch determination.
same thing happend to this parameter. when we change value of this parameter in classification in one plant it is refelecting on all plants. which i dont want.
i hope you get my point.
