Batch monitor messes with my display

Whenever Batch Monitor is running, my display won't go to sleep. I want to be able to sleep at night while running my compressor files without having to drape a towel over the display!!!!
Please make an option to turn off this feature!

This is, unfortunately, a known issue with Compressor versions 2.0 to 2.3 (not sure if this is fixed in version 3) with no known solution.

  • Batch Monitor - Sort Order

I'm running a series of batch compression jobs of a couple of hundred files each, mainly transcoding, but that's probably irrelevant.
When I submit a job of (say) 200 files, each called NAME_xxx where xxx is a number between 000 and 200 they appear in compressor in alpha numeric order, as expected. However, when I actually submit the job Batch Monitor seems to display them in a completely random order, even though it's processing them in alpha numeric order.
Is there any way to rearrange the batch jobs in the Batch Monitor so that it displays them in the order they are going to be processed? It's a real PITA to have to keep scrolling up and down the window looking for where we are in the queue.
Yes, I tried the 'Sort Order' button but it does not change the order within a single batch.

when you restart your database, the modification will take effect..

  • MacBook Messes with my Monitor

    Hi,
I'm new to Mac, and this is really wierd.
I'm hooking up a 19inch BenQ monitor to my MacBook via a VGA adaptor I bought with the MacBook Pro.
It detected the external monitor immediately, wonderful. After several hours, however, the monitor went dark. If I unplugged it, and plugged it back in, I'd catch a glimpse of screen, before it went dark again.
I tried plugging the external monitor back into a Windows machine, and had *the same* symptoms!
After unplugging the mains from the monitor and waiting 30secs, I could reconnect it to the mac and everything was fine again.
However, this problem keeps repeating! Somehow the Mac is messing with the monitor, causing it to go dark until I completely unplug it from the mains, allow it some time to loose all it's state, and plug it back in.
    What on earth is happening?

I've got a bit closer to the root cause.
If I leave the MBP alone for about half an hour and it shuts down the displays, the external monitor flickers back into life for a moment then goes black (although it's LED still shows it's connected).
After that, nothing but unplugging it from the mains will help.
My god, what bad experience I'm having with Macs so far... over heating, short cuts not working, monitors ceasing to function properly... it's hardly what I expected after shelling out three times as much as I would have for a windoze/linux machine!

  • Gnome Crashes on Login after messing with dual monitor settings

Gnome displays the sad monitor and has the error message "..something has gone wrong..~" and will force me to log out. I've only started to experience this after messing with dual monitor settings in nvidia. The dual setup(twinview) worked but once I rebooted, I couldn't get it going for awhile.

Extra Notes: I have another desktop session with awesome installed(uninstalled now) and could log into that no problem. Awesome was giving me troubles so I uninstalled it. I have 2 gnome desktop sessions, my regular gnome session(the one that crashes), and the other with no window manager(never crashed on startup).
I installed awesome around the same time as configuring the dual monitor setup.
    Thanks.

    Update.
The crashes are to be expected now. I'm circumventing the whole thing by logging into my other Gnome session without a window manager, logging out and then logging back into my regular Gnome with Metacity.
I've noticed the tty1 sessions(not sure what's it's called) is strange. Apparently my session runs on tty8 but when I try logging in, it'll crash me and tty7 gives me a blank screen with a blinking underscore. The other tty1s work regularly. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.
Is there a way to just reset the Gnome settings?

  • How do i clean spots on monitor of macbook pro with retina display?

how do i clean spots on monitor of macbook pro with retina display?

Light alcohol cleaners, like what you use for camers lenses, works.  Just do not have the soft cloth cleaning pad dripping wet ... dripping wet will allow fluid to get onto internal components.

i need to connect my Imac 27'' (newest version) up to 3/4 monitors (all 40'' LCD tv's with VGA and HDMI connections) with extended display to all external screens, not duplicate images. Is this possible?

I would suggest you visit an Apple dealer, preferably an Apple Store if there's one in your city, and ask for assistance in determining what you need. The questions and issues you bring up are rather complex to address in a technical support forum and would be better addressed in person where you and the salesperson can ask questions back and forth to arrive at the optimal setup.

  • My Macbook Pro 15-inch with retina display crashes sometimes when connected to an external monitor

My almost-new Macbook Pro 15-inch with retina display goes black and shuts down sometimes when connected to my external monitor. (The first time it did this was when connected to a projector.) They have replaced the motherboard but it still happens sometimes. The computer and monitor both come back on after a few seconds.

  • Photoshop and monitor profile (Samsung SyncMaster 244T with EyeOne Display 2)

I've just calibrated my Samsung SyncMaster 244T with EyeOne Display 2 and
created a monitor profile. Should I use it as the Photoshop working color
    space now?
    Thanks.

So my monitor profile is just for the OS, and photoshop should use either <br />sRGB or Adobe RGB, or whatever color space specific to the output <br />destination.<br /><br />So, say, if I plan to edit some files for a video slide show that I'm making <br />using ProShow Producer I should edit those files in one of the NTSC color <br />spaces and save that profile with the files.<br /><br />I used to just leave them in sRGB and saw some weird color results watching <br />those slide shows on TV.<br /><br />Thanks a lot for your info, Christopher.<br /><br /><br /><[email protected]> wrote in message <br />news:[email protected]..<br />> No. Your working space should usually be a color space with well-behaved <br />> characteristics such as black and white points being equal RGB values, as <br />> well as the values for grays. Your monitor profile won't be that way. Your <br />> monitor profile will let Photoshop display colors accurately, but for <br />> editing images, use a working space suited to the kind of editing you are <br />> doing.<br />><br />> Are you editing in CMYK, doing printing, video, editing from film scans, <br />> etc? The best working space will depend on the source image and the <br />> eventual output for it.<br />><br />> Most people use Adobe RGB(1998) as a good compromise for a working space. <br />> Some prefer sRGB which works well for on-screen viewing of output but less <br />> well for print media and/or when images contain very saturated colors. <br />> Photographers working from transparency film often use Ektaspace as their <br />> working space.

  • Can I use two HP Pavillion 23bw monitors with my MBP with Retina Display?

Can I use two HP Pavillion 23bw monitors with my MBP with Retina Display with good video quality? I just purchased them and am already reading about issues with non-Apple External Monitors being used with MBP with Retina.  Plus I just assumed it given the power of the video card, but I can turn off the display to my MBP and extend the two HP monitors correct? I do realize they won't have the picture quality of the retina display but I would hope they look reasonable with 1080p
New to the Support Community so thanks in advance for any help.

This is an update on the question about the use of the Dell P2415Q 4K monitor with MacBook Pro 13" and 15" w/ Nvidia graphics card installed. The monitor works very well with both systems and is automatically identified when connected. The 13" machine with Iris Graphics defaults to 2560 x 1440 at 60hz. This was very workable, matching the Apple Thunderbolt Display for resolution. I was not able to set the display for full 4K at 3840 x 2160, even at 30hz. Just not enough horsepower with the basic Intel CPU with Iris Graphics. But make no mistake, the setup works well and the screen looks great.
The 15" with Iris Pro Graphics and the Nvidia GeForce GT 575M discrete graphics card also recognized the display and drove it at full 4K, 3840 x 2160, 60hz with no problems. Running in clamshell mode required a bit of fine tuning with the Apple display settings. But nothing major.
Due to a relatively small workstation, I selected the 24" version of the Dell monitor. If you are looking for a relatively large monitor with near "retina" resolution, the P2415Q is a perfect pairing for the MacBook Pro - and a terrific bargain. I paid $530 on the Dell website.

  • Display messing with my Macbook's Airport?

Can display mess with the Airport? I've had a long litany of complaints over the last month https://discussions.apple.com/message/15926716#15926716 Now after reformatting my hard drive the next thing Apple's service center is doing is changing the display. Can this be it? Anyone have a similar experience?

The Airport hardware is in the display assembly, so changing it requires changing the display.

  • Macbook Pro with Retina Display with Dell U2412m external monitor

I recently purchased the Dell U2412m monitor on Amazon hoping to use it as my external monitor to my Macbook pro 15" with retina display, however, when I finish setting it up, there's a red/pink vertical line showing on my screen. Does anyone know what seems to be the problem and how do I get rid of the line. Is there anything I need to set up on the monitor to make it compatible with MBP with retina?? Thanks in advance.

I used a mini display port to display port cable and my screen looked fine. My problem was that the USB ports did not work and dealing with Dell customer service was a nightmare.

you cant return it unless you have had it for 14 days or less, but you can bring it to an Apple store or AASP for warranty service.

  • OS X Lion with multiple displays/monitors?

As you've problably figured out by now, the answer is no. Fullscreen applications like Mail, Safari, and even Quicktime are sadly a dud with multiple monitors. With Mail and Safari, you end up getting the knit grey background like in Mission Control.
Here's my problem. In Snow Leopard, I used to be able to run a fullscreen movie in Quicktime on my TV monitor. It would run in the background while I was doing other stuff, still playing the movie in fullscreen. Now, with Lion, I can't do that. Due to the 'upgraded' fullscreen function on Quicktime, whenever I try watching a movie in fullscreen on my other monitor, the window moves to my main monitor and the other monitor goes black.
There probably isn't an instant fix for this, but please Apple, give your multi-display customers some love and let us have the ability to use seperate spaces and fullscreen applications on other monitors. It's hard to overlook this.

This is the single reason why I am still using Snow Leopard on my iMac which has two additional displays connected to its ThunderBolt ports.
I didn't buy monitors to display fake grey linen.  The real linen is cheaper.
Please provide feedback on this design decision via -http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
I'm hoping that if enough pressure is built up, they'll add an option:-
"Allow me to use my external displays = Yes/No"
I use Aperture, and here is what it looks like under Snow Leopard
When running Lion, the left and right screens look like this
