Batch no. , Serial no. and Equipment no.

Hi Gurus,
Can anybody explain me What is the difference between Batch no. Serial no. and Equipment no.?
And how the three are related to Sales order , Delivery and Billing?
Thanks in Advance,
Manu

Batch : The primary purpose would be to track your products if they are manufactured in Batches. Any kind of chemicals would be an idle exmaple. After production when the GR for the material is done it has to done for plant-sloc-batch combination. Similarly before doing PGI during the delivery processing an appropraite batch has to be selected. SAP has a standard solution for auto batch determination as well. Plenty of times batches are used for some other purpose as well. e.g. for a MNC produces the same product in different countries and want to track where a particular product has been made then Batch management can be used to identify the Made in country
Serial no & equipment: This would be used for example in electrical industry or automobiles where individual item can be tracked using the serial number. The combination of material plus serial number makes and equipment . Equipments could be used to manage repairable products . So if you are into servicing then you can maintain equipments which would show the entire history ,warranty information etc
There is no relation between batches and serial numbers .They can be used independently or in conjunction depending on the products and the business
Hope this information was useful

  • In which table of CRM the Serial number and Equipment information stores.

    Hi Experts
    Recently I have downloaded all the serial numbers and Equipment numbers from backend system by doing the initial download of the object SERIALNUMBER and EQUIPMENT.
    I can see the BDOC monitor in which all BDOC are in green ststus and R3AM1 the object ststus is also green.
    My problem is I am unable to find the downloaded information in CRM system.Can anyone help me in finding out where can I get these information.
    Thanks
    Subhabrata

    Hi Subhabrata
    If I understand correctly your Serial number is not linked to any equipment which can be opened using IE03.
    "Serial number download functionality allows you to replicate pure serial numbers (serial numbers that are not associated with equipment) along with their associated business partners and configuration from SAP ECC to SAP CRM as objects."
    See this link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm70/helpdata/EN/ad/bc673f19299d51e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    In that case you should not download object EQUIPMENT. You just need to download object SERIALNUMBER. Check the number of entries in table COMM_PRODUCT before and after download. Search for Equipment number in field PRODUCT_ID. Check table COM_TA_R3_ID with the product guid from previous search.
    I hope it helps

  • Synchronization of serial no and Equipment no

    Hi,
    I have a serialized material and generate equipment master whenever I do Goods posting.
    Requirement: I like to set the serial number to be assigned automically and it should be the Equipment number which is going to be generated.
    Kindly advice.
    DP

    Hi DP,
    I have actually used the same functionality in one of my project, what you have to do first is to define the serial number profile (which you must have already done) go to SPRO->Plant maint. and customer service-> Master data in plant maintenance and customer service and technical object->Serial number management -> define serial number profile. In that you can find your serial number profile if already craeted then selecton it and then from the right hand bar double click on serialisation procedure.
    in the next screen check the entries and created the processes you want serialisation for. If you are saying its for good reciept then select MMSL and the in the field SerUsage put the entry from the drop down depending upon your requirement to make the serialisation as required or optional entry, next the EqReq is the main field where you can define if the Serial number and the equipment number will be synchronised, select 02 from the drop down.
    Now make sure that for all the material for which you want the serial and equipment synchronised int he material master in the Sales:General/Plant  tab , Under general plant parameters , select the serial niumber profile and give "Ser Lev : as 1 . this will allow the syschronisation for all the equipment recieved.
    But make sure that the  02 entry is made in the EqReq field in the serial number profile in spro that the key.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Serial numbers and equipment

    Hi,
    We have a setup where materials are managed with serial numbers (through serial number profile).
    An equipment record is created automatically together with each serial number.
    The serial numbers are assigned manually at the time of goods receipt. The equipment master is created in background.
    The problem is that the serial numbers are unique: I cannot for example not assign serial number 100000000 to both material A and B.
    Is there any solution to this? Is it possible to somehow allow the same serial number/equipment number created for 2 different materials? Or is it impossible with equipment requirement at serial number profile?
    Thanks,
    Lars

    Yes thats what i am saying...
    i will explain you in detail:
    First follow this path:
    Spro-Plant Maintenance and Customer Service-Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service-Technical Objects-Serial Number Management-Define Serial Number Profiles..
    Now check the "Indicator: Serial Number Existence Requirement" infront of your Serial number profile.....
    Now maintain master data in IQ04 for both materials.

  • Serial number and equipment

    Hi,
    I want to create refurbishment order,for that i am dismantaling 1assembly from equipment while doing dismanteling IE4N systen asking for serial number. I have given serial no to matrial bt till it is showing following error.
    "Equipment view not activated" and also when i entered equipment then shows following error
    "Invalid equipment number (Serial number does not exist)"
    Please help me out from this problem.

    There are activities that need to be done before doing the refurbishment,
    - Serial no. profile to be created
    - In the profile select PPAU as one of the serializing procedure
    - Assign this profile in the material master
    - Activate the serial no. view for the eq. category.
    - Create serial no. for the material and activate the equipment view.
    - Now when you create Refurbishment order for the material system will display a special object list in the order itself, where you can select the serial number.
    - rest are as usual.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi
    we have equipment 100000300 technical object
      Technical object
    (Mechanical Equip)
        100000300
    Technical object                 pump*  / motor*
    (Mechanical Equip)       Component / Component          component Bom / component Bom
        100000300                  200213     / 200256                       200213       /    200256
    Technical object
    (Mechanical Equip)
        100000300
    Note *----In mechanical equipment both Motor and pump component are attached.
    so that's why i am confused how can solve. (in mechanical equipment Electric
    and mech component are joined there is nothing electric equipment).
    In first case Pump or motor is Totally over then we will create a scrap
    material code and sale it to the purchaser.
    In 2nd case our pump Or motor 200213/200256 for repair and we know our
    plant is in running and we assembled new pump Or motor 200213/200256.
    now our pump Or motor 200213/200256 are repaired now that repair one
    go to store now the big question is this when change or replace our code
    is same how can we change or replace (in first case so simple just create a
    scrap, In 2nd step i am confused).
    now i think all guru's will clear very efficently.

  • SWAP Equipment using IE4N, without serial number and material, it is possible?

    Hi PM Experts, I´ve been reading about the way to SWAP equipments from his functional location without using serial number and material, I think if it is not possible, but to be honest, I cannot find any logical answer for it, since equipment number is unique for a plant. Does anyone have found any work around for it?.
    I don’t want to use serial numbers and materials, because I think the process is really simple, since the client does not want to implement the refurbishment process. If there is a break down, here is what I do:
    Case 1:
    Dismantle damage equipment (Say PM01 Order Type)
    Install new equipment (same PM order)
    TECO the actual PM order
    ...Later
    Case 2:
    Create a new PM orden (say PM01 Order Type)
    Repair the break equipment
    TECO this new PM Order
    Here are the inconsistencies:
    What happen with the MTTR and MTBR reports?
    In case one, I´ll create the material as equipment, while I´m installing, starting date for his master data is the installation day, and the MTTR and MTBR will start to run. This is ok.
    What happened in case 2?, I need to stop the “clock” for the MTTR and MTBR of the dismantle equipment.
    This is the reason why, I would like to use IE4N, but since there are no serial number and material, I cannot.
    Can anyone please suggest a workaround for this scenario?.
    I´m thinking in use INAC (Object Deactivated) system status, can this status help me?, Does this status “stops” the clock for MTTR and MTBR report?. If I change the status to ACT, I´ll get the clock back running?.
    How about dismantle the equipment?, It will get the AVLB Available status, but the problem is, this equipment will be “floating” in the whole PM structure and I do not want it. I want to have it in a specific Functional Location but with this status, is this possible?. I woul like to use IE4N to SWAP UTs and later change the status to AVLB Available status, with and exits.
    I thinking in an Equipment Status and a “Z” MTTR and MTBR report, based on this status. But to be honest, I´d like a standard solution for it.

    For find my iPhone to work, the device has to be powered on and it has to be connected to a network (Cellular or WiFi).  Find My iPhone uses your AppleID as the account to search for.  Maybe the "guys" you were talking to were referring to a 3rd party application that essentially lo-jacks your device.  But even then, it would still require Power and a network.
    I don't believe that there is currently a way to flag a specific serial number for location.
    Best of Luck.

  • Integration of serial number and batch number

    Hi All,
    My client Maintains the Serial Number for Finished Good and Sub-Assembly.
    and all the raw materials are procurred in batches.
    I hav integrated the serial number for FG and Sub-Assy with T.Code COIB.
    Now how can i retrieve the detail for a particular serial number for Finished Good, mean to say if any problem comes in market for the product and we get a serial number then how to drill down.
    ANother question is How to integrate serial number for sub-assy's with the batch number of different raw materials.
    Thanks in Advance
    ANI

    Hi,
    If I got it right, you defined an AS-BUILT-Configuration manually. (COIB)
    Normally the relationships are a result of the production process, meaning that for every serialized FG and SFG you have exactly one ProdOrd, and this way you also have the ROH batches that you issued to each ProdOrd = serial number.
    Then based on this information you can create the full relationship tree for each serialized FG, and can also reference it by the batch number if for example there's something wrong with a certain batch (where used).

  • Syncronization Difference between Lock and Batch Sync Serial

    In the synchronization  Settings,
    if a Lock is used for a step & the Batch Syncronization is  set to Serial (one thread at a time)
    the AutoSchedule.seq(Sequntial-Sub seq ) is an example for this.

    What exactly is the issue with this? Lock and Batch Sync Serial do not do exactly the same thing so it's not surprising they don't have exactly the same behavior. The order in which threads are woken when the lock becomes available is likely different for example. Batch Sync wakes threads in test socket order, while a lock is first in first out.

  • What is the difference between Serial numbers and Batch management.

    Hi Gurus,
    Can anyone explain the difference between Serial Number and Batch Management in breif.
    Regards
    Ravi

    Hi,
    Serial number management and batch management are different functions that can be
    used in conjunction with each other.
    A batch represents a non-reproducible subset
    of the total quantity of a material held in stock, which is managed separately from
    other subsets of the same material.
    For Example  Different production lots
    (for example, paints, wallpapers, pharmaceutical products), delivery lots or quality
    grades of a material.
    whereas a serial number is a number that you give to an individual item of material in addition
    to the material number, in order to differentiate between this individual piece and all
    other items of the material. The combination of material number and serial number
    is unique. It is not necessary to use the batch management function to use serial
    number management.

  • Lenovo X131e doesn't work with Prolific PL2303 based USB to Serial Adapter and Windows 7 x64

    This is sort of a bug report. A Lenovo X131e with Windows 7 x64 and the PL2303 driver including 1.6, 1.61 and 1.7 will not successfully install the driver - Windows always reports "Driver Install Failed" on plug in to USB 3 or USB2 ports. However, putting a USB2.0 hub inbetween the USB to Serial Adapter and either USB port type makes the adapter work fine. This was not the case with the X130e. I'm not sure where to report this beyond this posting, but more of an FYI.

    If the USB can be used for other equipment,
    That may be compatibility issues for USB and Prolific PL2303.
    Don't plug Serial Adapter when installing the driver,
    Ofter installation, Connect serial adapter to see whether it is working normally.

  • DI-Error: You cannot select batch or serial numbers for a closed row

    Hello Experts,
    I have several B1-Systems connected to R/3-Systems via B1iSN.
    In B1 for example I have 2 rows in Purchase Order. One row was closed by a goods receipt - 1 row is still open.
    From our R/3-System we send Order-Acknowledgements to B1. Because line 1 is already closed we want to ignore row 1 and update only information in row 2. By using KeyExpansion I could solve that requirement (check in B1-System if row is already closed -> insert row in IDoc only with LineNum). For example:
    <Document_Lines>
      *<row>* <!-- ignore -->
        *<LineNum>0</LineNum>*
      *</row>*
       <row> <!-- update -->
        <LineNum>1</LineNum>
        <ItemCode>ABCDEFGHIJK</ItemCode>
      </row>
    </Document_Lines>
    Unfortunately DI-API does not allow to update each row separated. I always have to send all rows in IDoc even if one row is closed.
    For one B1-Company batchnumbers on every transaction is required. When creating Goods Receipt we have to define a batchnumber for item. But now if I want to update a open row (as described above) I get an B1iSN-Error:
    DI Error: (-10) You cannot select batch or serial numbers for a closed row
    Any ideas to solve that Error? Thanks.
    Regards,
    GB

    Hi Bastian,
    I have still one open question. How to tread Document Lines Additional Expenses?
    If I use the logic of visual order I still get the error "You cannot select batch or serial numbers for a closed row".
    Example:
    <Document_LinesAdditionalExpenses>
    -      <row>
               <LineNumber>4</LineNumber>*no expenses*
    </row>
    -      <row>
               <LineNumber>0</LineNumber>*no expenses*
    </row>
    -     <row>
               <LineNumber>1</LineNumber>*no expenses*
    </row>
    -     <row>
               <LineNumber>2</LineNumber>*no expenses*
    </row>
    -     <row>
               <LineNumber>3</LineNumber>*expenses correct*
               <ExpenseCode>3</ExpenseCode>
               <LineTotal>10.00</LineTotal>
    </row>
    </Document_LinesAdditionalExpenses>
    How can I solve that?
    Thanks and regards,
