Batch printing invoice report using a parameter

Post Author: andrewh
CA Forum: General
Hi!
First time poster. So I am trying to get my report so that I select a range of reports and then have them "batch print." Right now my report is setup so that after I refresh it, I use a drop down box parameter to select the static invoice number, and then select okay the report updates, and I print. I do that for every invoice (60) takes about 45 minutes. I would like it so that i can select the entire range of invoice numbers, so that crystal brings up the 60 pages and I can just select print and it prints them all. What would be the easiest thing for me to do in this situtation?
Thanks!!

Again, group by the invoice, place all fields within that group header, details and group footer, and turn on the reset page number in the group footer.
The fact that you designed the report initially NOT to allow for multiple invoices doesn't mean the offered solution is inaccurate, it means that you designed prior to understanding the full requirements, so you now need to modify the design.

• Problem with NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi on different machines

We have 5 machines here in our workgroup which have the same state regarding security patches and other system updates. We recently found out that there is a problem with the NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi on the different machines.
If I would open the VI on MachineA the control could be loaded. If I would open the VI on MachineB the control could be loaded. If I would copy the VI from MachineB to MachineA and open the VI the control could not be loaded. If I would copy the VI from MachineA to MachineB and open the VI on MachineB the control could be loaded. MachineB could load the version from MachineA and MachineB but on MachineA only the own version will load. I have seen that both versions have the same GUID for the Microsoft Webbrowser but are different in some other aereas.
Since printing HTML Reports is part of the application which will be distributed as application I want to know if someone else have seen such a behaviour or has got problems distributing an application.
Also I want to know which additional information is stored in an Active-X container about the control beside the GUID.
We have Win XP Prof SP2 with MS IE 6.0.2900.2180 on all machines in the workgroup.

Hi Tom,
this is the VI <vi.lib>\Utillitiy\NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi copied from a machine that can load and run the VI and it will print. On this machine the control in the VI is white.
This VI will give the "Control could not be loaded" message on my machine.
The file shdocvw.dll is 2006-10-23 16:18 size 1.460 KB and I verifyed that both machines have the same version of this file.

• Printing OSHA reports using CG54

I am printing OSHA reports(OSHA_300 & OSHA_300A) from CG54 using Period-Based Accident Reports report category. I specify a period range and work area. When the report is sent to WWI gen server, I look at the parameter values for the report in CG54 and see an entry for the period range but not for the work area. Any Idea why? Is this a bug?

In order to make the work area to show up as the parameter values, you need to have defined the work area with a parameter symbol (02) in the template.

• Printing parameter on report - using dynamic parameter in XI

CA Forum: Formula
I need to have the following print on the report when using parameter that accepts multiple values:
1 value selected - prints that value
2 or more values selected - prints "multiple"
All values selected - prints "all"
Example: parameter "Colors"
Values- blue, green, red, yellow, etc (more may be added/deleted at any time)
When just blue is selected - "blue" prints
When just red is selected - "red" prints
When red and yellow are selected - "multiple" prints
When all are selected >> "all prints
Any help would be appreciated.

I reduced the formula to (I didn't expect a solution for "all"):
If count({?parameter}) = 1 or then {?parameter}
else
If count({?parameter}) > 1 then 'Multiple'
and received this error: "This array must be subscripted. For example: Array[i]."
If count({?parameter}) = 1 then "One"
else
If count({?parameter}) > 1 then 'Multiple'
works fine but I really wanted the value printed when only one is selected.
Thanks so much for your help - I feel we're on the right track.

• Printing Crystal report using Generic Text output - formating lost

Hi. I have an accounting system using Crystal to generate it's business forms, in particular invoicing as reports. Recently we have installed new printing system that needs generic text to capture and create the business forms (invoices) into a graphic and text. When Crystal sends data to Generic Text Printer, you can view it ok as a preview but it moves text around , bunches it up and formatting is never the same for two documents. I need resolution as the printing software needs fixed text in a specific location within the data file. Is there a way in Crystal to format fields so they dont move the data and bunch it up. The business forms written in Crystal have sub reports that are supressed if no data is to be printed, but finding text is moving and hard to capture a fixed location in text file. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello,
Thank you for your responses.
Yes, I'm using a bundled version that came with VS 2005.
I'd love to download this update, but I cannot get there! I don't have an login and password for this site, and I don't know how to get them.
This is all I'd found about this issue in this thread:
http://www.crystalreportsbook.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=844
"I opened an incident with Business Objects. They said there is not a way to do what we want to do with the Crystal Reports for .NET assemblies. They are going to implement a way to create a postscript file and include it in Service Pack 3 of Crystal XI Release 2. They would not say how the postscript will be created (ie, ExportToDisk or any other method), only that they would include it in CRXI Release 2 SP3 which they intend to release sometime this coming winter. "
"Just an update...this has been fixed in Crystal XI Release 2 Service Pack 3.
I just finished testing, and it now allows you to print to a file without prompting the user. We are now able to create a postscript file."
Thanks,
Peter

• Help - Passing parameter to report using page parameter

I have a SQL Report on a page
The report query is
select * from scott.emp where deptno = :department
The URL for the page containing the report is:
http://developer03.fis:7777/portal/page?_pageid=95,36455&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
I have added a page parameter = departnment
and associated the page parameter to the report bind variable in the Portlet Parameter Values as follows:
department = Page Parameter, department
I displayed the page by going to the above URL
and then added &department=10 to the end of the URL in the browser address.
I expected the report to display records for deptno = 10, but the query didn't return any records.
Anyone know what's wrong??
Thanks Larry

Yes, except you need to add &department=10 to the end of the page URL, not what I had.
Look at
How to pass values from a Page to portlet in Portal.

• Printing Chart on report using ActiveX on Machine without Crystal installed

When using a chart in a report, the chart does not print when running the report on a machine that does not have crystal reports installed on it. It will print on a machine that DOES have crystal installed. I am using VB6 to print the reports using ActiveX. Is there a DLL that needs to be copied onto the machines? I am using Crystal reports 10.
Thanks

There is no one DLL. You have to do the correct deployment using supported methods; e.g.; MSM files for version 10 RDC. The MSM files can be found on the downloads page:
http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm
Also, make sure you are on a supported OS:
https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567
The above mentions .NET, but same will apply to RDC based apps.

• Batch Printing dropping a document

Hey gang. Thanks for all your hard work helping us newbies.
I have an issue with Document Printing (Batch Printing). We use Document Generation Wizard to create (add) Invoices at the end of each day. Once they are created, we use Document Printing to Print all the Invoices within that Doc Num range. Periodically (read: not every time), one of the documents within that range will fail to print. It will show Open - Printed as a status, but it doesn't actually print out to the physical printer. We realized that this was happening when we discovered that there were about a dozen invoices that were never sent to customers. Has anyone run across this before? Any ideas?
We have 8.8 PL 16 installed. It is a CR report that produces the Invoice.

I TOTALLY understand what Tom is saying, and we here at my Marketing Firm have the same problem.
When we specify, for example, Helvetica 14, which is an extremely large text font, the TextEdit doc prints out at 8 point!!. Yet, the page setup is at 100%. And RulerView is on.
This is an extremely annoying bug in TextEdit, that we have not found a work-around for. If anyone has any ideas, send' em on over!
Sorry, Tom, it seemed as if no one was really grokking what you were saying.
Cheers all!

• Multi-currency Invoice Report in USD and SGD

Hi
I am Developing Invoice report using XMLPin EBS ,which Must Show Currency in USD and SGD(Singapore Dollar),means at the end of report client want to display USD amount and SGD amount .In oracle report (RAXINV) I am able to get Both currency but In XML report The mapping field for SGD gives 0(zero) value.
pls provide me inputs
Thanks
Rahul

Hi Tim,
In my XML file I am getting two fields
1)<D_INV_ALL_AMOUNT> with value is in USD e.g. (20000) which I have mapped for USD currency in Template.
2)<D_SGD_PAGE_ADJ_LINE_AMOUNT> This field is for SGD But giving 0(Zero) value. Which I have mapped for SGD.
So I am able to print USD= 20000 and SGD =0 In the Template
But when I run original Oracle report it gives both value, means USD =20000 and SGD=23435 after converting to USD in its text output. (In oracle report layout same above fields are mapped as a source)
I have also created Currency Format Sets. as per user guide and used it in the template but it has no effect
The output of XML report must be like this.
|USD| 20000|
|SGD| 23435|
Simply I want to print both currency values in report

• Report using spool in Russian

Hey SAPians,
i am stuck here with an issue. i am trying to print a report using spool in Russian, its status ends in error. however when i try printing same in english its status is complete.
where am i going wrong, how do i make this work?
THANKS IN ADVANCE
Abhinav

Hi,
Why do you want to do
SELECT  *
FROM    table_name;
inside the procedure? Why not have your script run the procedure (without the query above), and then do that query afterwards, when you can use SPOOL to put the results in a file?
If you really must write a file from a procedure, here's an example of how to use utl_file.
First, SYSTEM (or some other user with the CREATE ANY DIRECCTORY system privilege) must create a directory, and grant privileges to use it. For example:
CREATE OR RPLEACE DIRECTORY  a_dir  AS 'C:\Foo\A_Folder';
GRANT ALL ON DIRECTORY  a_dir  TO PUBLIC;
Typically, SYSTEM does this once, and other people use it hundreds of times.
You might create a file in that directory like this:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE  write_dept
IS
f  utl_file.file_type;
BEGIN
f := utl_file.fopen ('A_DIR', 'Dept.txt', 'W');
FOR  r  IN  (  SELECT  *
FROM    scott.dept
LOOP
utl_file.put_line ( f
, TO_CHAR (r.deptno, 'FM00')
|| ' '
|| RPAD (r.dname, 15)
|| r.loc
END LOOP;
utl_file.fclose (f);
END  write_dept;
SHOW ERRORS

• Print crystal report in A5 paper tray

Dear Experts,
I am using VB.NET
We have different printers like "Lexmark Optra T612_DB", "HP Universal Printing PCL 5 (v4.7)", etc., in the network, there will be 2 or more trays for each printer. One of the tray has A5 paper in it. While printing Crystal report,
1. How to find in which tray A5 paper is present?
2. How to select A5 paper tray for printing?
If the above 2 are not possible with crystal report object:
1. How to print crystal report using PrintDocument object?
2. How to find in which tray A5 paper is present using PrintDocument object?
3. How to select A5 paper tray for printing? using PrintDocument object?
Currently with the following lines of .NET code, it is always printing in Tray 2
report.PrintOptions.PaperSize = PaperSize.PaperA5;
report.PrintOptions.PaperOrientation = PaperOrientation.Landscape;
Regards,
Eswar

Unfortunately, it will be up to you to find out what tray the correct paper size is in, then set that to the report. The CR APIs do not look up these values, they just expect you to know these and set them.
