Batch-printing many PDF-files

Hi,
In our workflow we have hundreds of PDf-files in many different subfolders we need to print on a monthly basis. We COULD print them manually... but that would be expensive, time-wise. So I figured I would make an action in Acrobat Pro X that would do the trick.
And it works... except for one thing - the "Add folders" adds ALL supported files in the sub-folders, which makes it a bit useless for our purposes. I can't see any way to sort by filetype or any way to tell it to only add specific extensions.
Is there any easy way to do this? I'm open to scripting - perhaps Illustrator might be better for this purpose?
BR
Thomas

I do this daily...If you have Adobe 9 or older the process is alot eaiser for some reason Adobe made this feature more difficult, y? i don't know but here you go...
Acrobat X
Acrobat X replaces "Sequences" with "Actions", and unfortunately doesn't include a built-in "Print All" Action. So you will need to create one.
1. Choose File > Action Wizard > Create New Action
2. Fill in the "Create New Action" dialog box as shown below.
3. Click the Save button.
4. Give the Action a name, such as "Print" and click the Save button.
5. Now each time you want to batch print PDF files with Acrobat X, just File > Action Wizard > Print, and follow the on-screen prompts.

  • How to batch print multiple PDFs in Mac OS X?

Does anyone know of any new software that allows one to batch print multiple PDF files with a print dialogue for the first file, followed by dialogue-less printing for the rest?
I work for an architect's firm and we often find ourselves printing dozens of A1 PDFs, going through the print dialogue window for each file.
We used to be able to batch print when Preview.app could open multiple PDFs in one window; it lost this capability in a regression when it gained bookmarks and we've been living in batch print stone age ever since.
(A desktop printer doesn't work by the way)

Open one of the PDFs in Preview then drag the rest of the files into the sidebar. Print the resulting file. If you don't want to save it as a single PDF just select 'Don't Save' when you exit.
Wow! I've been asking this question repeatedly for a couple of years now and you're the first person to mention this. Thanks a lot. There will be some happy campers in our office, I tell ya.
I missed it because all the large PDFs we create include a table of contents and you have to switch to thumbnail view before you can drag and drop additional PDFs.
With the type of files we produce It takes 30 seconds or so to add 8 files together, so it's not ideal but it's a lot faster and more convenient than Acrobat Pro or printing each file separately.
Another option is to open the printer window and drag all the files into it. They will print automatically with no dialog box.
This doesn't work because you can't choose the size of paper you want to print to.
Thanks again, your first post too.

  • Printing multiple pdf files at once

I have tons of invoices I need to print up. They were things I should have printed along all year, but I opted to save as pdf instead, now I need them on paper! Is there a way, perhaps with a workflow or 3rd party software, that I can select them in the finder and print them without opening each individual file and printing them one at a time? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I also have a need to print many PDF documents from the same folder. Your recommendation to drag the files to the printer icon almost does the trick. The problem is that the printout is clipped. If I open and print the individual files I am given the option to fit the document to the paper size and all is well. If I drag directly to the icon no option at all is presented and, in my case, the document size exceeds the paper size. Is there a way to set the "Page Scaling" in the dragging operation? I have an Epson R340 printer.
Thanks for any help you can give.

  • Can't print a PDF file that is within a ZIP file.

Can’t print a PDF file that is within a ZIP file.  Get message “Windows cannot complete the transaction.  The destination file could not be created.”  If I save the file and extract the pdf it works.  I didn't have to go through this hastle before.  If I retry many times it will often work.

ZIP files can be handled in many different ways.  If you have a program like WinZip or 7-Zip installed, they will handle it.
If not, Windows will handle it.  The message you quote indicates that your situation is handled by Windows, which seems to have a problem with it.  Could be caused by recent Windows updates.
Definitely not an Adobe Reader problem.

  • Batch print to pdf

    Hi
I've been trying for some time now to figure out how to turn 6000 html files into pdf in the exact same way that using File - Print... "Adobe PDF" - Print creates PDFs. unfortunately File - Print only works on one file at a time. And so far every batch conversion i've attempted doesnt create the same clean output that printing to pdf does. at the moment i'm wondering if there's some setting in acrobat that might be responsible, but i'm here to ask if there's some way to code the process of printing to pdf (File - Print... "Adobe PDF" - Print creates PDFs) so i can make it work on my 6000 files.
Any help or direction would be appreciated. despite spending days on this i really dont know what i'm doing.

Are you doing this on a desktop or server? What OS platform? Are you comfortable w/any programming languages?

I can print anything else from either the Desktop or Start but not a PDF.  No error message but just does not print.
Update: down loaded Adobe Reader which runs on the desktop so when I read a PDF file it now runs on the desktop and I can print it.

Good afternoon SaraThanks for responding. Yes, I have been able to open these files before without a password. Funny thing is it is happening on both my husband's laptop as well as mine. I'd appreciate any help you could give me but the file is very personal. So, if you can assist in a way that won't compromise the security I would be grateful for your help. Thanks and have a great day!Kim Morse

  • How can I print a pdf file in Windows 8?

I'm new to Windows 8. How can I print a pdf file in Windows 8?

Well, you can install Adobe Reader XI - not the version for Windows 8 tablets, but the one for regular PCs. This is just the same in Windows 8 as other systems, and can print. The tablet reader, which also runs on PCs, can't print.

Save the file to your hard drive, open it in Adobe Reader and print.  Unless the file has security restrictions against printing, those steps should work.
