Batch Process White Balance From Bridge/ACR?

Here's what I want to do:
Open Bridge
Use Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor
Set ACR white balance to be used on all files being processed from Bridge
Save to JPEG
I can do 1, 2, and 4.  When the Image Processor window opens it gives me a checkbox option that says, "Open first image to apply settings".  I assumed this meant I could open the first image in ACR (via Image Processor), adjust the white balance settings (and any other ACR settings I want), and then have those settings applied to the rest of the images that are processed.  However, when I do this, the ACR settings are applied only to the first image, none of the others.  Is there a way to apply the ACR settings I create on that first image to the rest of the images?
Thanks,
Aaron

Apologies for replying to this thread, but it seemed like a better idea than creating another topic for more or less the same issue.
I am attempting to do the same thing using Bridge/ACR except I am not seeing the edits on the JPEG file afterwards.
Here are the steps I go through.
1) Open Adobe Bridge CS3
2) Select several RAW files
3) Click Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor
The options I have checked (1) open first image to apply settings.  (2) Save in Same Location (3) Save as JPEG, Quality 12 (4) Include ICC profile
4) Click Run
5) Make edits in ACR, click Open Image
6) Photoshop batches those files.
I only chose 6 files to batch as a test, but it only made the edits to the first picture, the remaning 5 were untouched.
I am wondering if maybe I am just missing something simple here and someone could point it out to me

  • Wrong white balance in Bridge

Since I reinstalled my computer I have a problem with displaying Canon CR2 files in Bridge - white balance in just incorrect. When I open it in Camera RAW, for about 1 second it displays still incorrectly, but then colours of the picture change and white balance is correct - I can even see that histogram changes slightly at the same moment. Than it opens in Photoshop correctly too. White balance is set to "as shot". I have PS CS6 and ACR 8.1 as part of Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium (all updates are installed). Anyone can solve the problem? I can say that I tried to install Creative Suite on 2 different computers and the problem is in both cases.

But when I open fool preview in Bridge (space, then left mouse click), after a short time when preview renders, the picture becomes fine. So I wonder what picture is displayed in Bridge non-full-screen preview?
Let's first focus on your preference settings. Try these settings:
In Bridge under Adobe Bridge CC open the Camera Raw preferences.
In the section 'Default Image Settings' make sure the the above 2 are NOT checked (Auto tone and auto grayscale)
It is useful to have checked defaults to specific serial number when you did generate a custom default in ACR and iso specific is only useful if you have saved all different iso settings as different ACR defaults.
Then go to same menu and open Bridge Preferences.
In the section Cache under options have only a checkmark in front of 'Keep 100% previews in Cache', don't use the option to export cache to folder.
Also increase the slider for cache size a bit, somewhere half way or left to halfway should be good enough.
Under Advanced / miscellaneous only have a check mark in front of generate monitor sized previews, leave the other 2 blank.
Then in the content window with the problem files be sure to have no hidden cache folders. Use menu view / show hidden files and search for document icons with BridgeCache and BridgeCacheT. If they are here delete both to the trash.
Then restart Bridge and try again
Also might be related to not having synced the color settings in Bridge when having more Suite apps installed from CC.
Any advice how can I check it?
When you have only PS installed Bridge uses the color settings you have saved in there, otherwise you should sync the Bridge color settings for correct colormanagement.
In PS go to the menu edit / Color settings
Check if your settings are what you want and either read the name already given or save these settings under a proper name.
Then in Bridge use the same route (edit/Color Settings and check if the saved settings file is active in the list (Bridge tells you in this menu if the settings are synced or not so that should be easy to check.

  • How to apply white balance from jpeg to raw version

I always shoot in RAW + jpeg format.  Many times the jpeg will work fine and I still have the RAW if I want to take the time to tweak things a bit more.
But sometimes the jpeg stumbles on a white balance that works well for a particular image.  If I want to apply that same balance to the RAW version, I would like to be able to read what that color balance setting (in K degrees I assume) is so I can copy it.
Is there a way to find that info somewhere?  The exif will only give you the name of the setting (Flash, Auto, Cloudy, whatever...) but not the numerical info needed to apply it in Aperture's White balance adjustment.
    I use a Nikon D600.
Thanks very much for any info!
    Bo

    OK, progress!
I found out from Iliah Borg on the dpreview.com forum that the utility ExifTool (or its GUI version pyExifToolGUI) will provide the R, B, G1 and G2 values for the white balance setting.  They are provided as multipliers or absolute vaules.  Example:
    WB RB Levels : 1.51953125 1.8515625 1 1
    WB GRBG Levels : 256 389 474 256
Now does anyone know how you can enter these type of numberic values in Aperture?  The standard White Balance brick does not have input fileds for these types.

  • Custom white balance from Canon 5D Mark 3 erased from RAW files when developed in Lightroom 4.2?

    Hi Everybody!
Got a bit of a problem...I set custom white balance for a lot of my photos (I'm a nightclub photographer) as sometimes the colours are so saturated the image becomes unusable. Unfortunately in Lightroom 4 the photos import with the correct WB I have set but when I click on them to develop the settings are changed and the image looks completely awful. I try and adjust the image back to the way I have taken it but it never looks the same....why is Lighroom not recognising the WB settings I set within my 5D?
    Any pointers?
    Cheers!
    Sarah

All Raw images can be expected to change appearance significantly after the initial display of the in-camera embedded JPG preview, has been replaced with a true LR-generated conversion preview.
This is because all in-camera image settings and processing options (except WB) are disregarded by Lightroom. Lightroom just works to its own processing default, and this is in your control to get as you want it.
Even the in-camera WB, is only used provided LR is set to "as-shot" WB at the top of the Basic panel. If LR's default gets changed to a fixed WB of some kind, then that is what every image will show initially thereafter.
Even with the right WB transferred and used, first LR renditions can still look very different than the camera rendition; two people picking up the same violin might make very different noises with it. One of the biggest effects for that, is when proprietary in-camera "dynamic range boost" (or however else named) functions have been used. These work by deliberate underexposure of the basic capture, and Adobe software tends not to then apply the right corrective for that.
Even without these special functions in play, it is still usual for Adobe factory default processing - combined with camera programmed metering - to produce images which appear a little on the dark side, but which nonetheless have good scope for brightening without losing highlight detail. An image that looks generally bright enough in this context, will usually turn out to have blown highlights. If the camera has any kind of a low-noise sensor, the shadows will tolerate brightening even better than the highlights will.
And if your customised LR default has applied some brightening and that turns out to be too much in a given case, it can simply be turned back down for that image with no harm done. Or you might prefer to under-correct with your default; up to you.

  • Transfering white balance from one image to many images.

I'm starting to shoot with a gray card to get better color representation in my portraits... I typically shoot RAW.  I've read that you can save the white balance info from one image ( in a DNG file?) and transfer it to other images that are either JPEG or RAW ( as long as the initial image is a RAW). Anyone know how to both save the info, then transfer it?

It doesn't directly address your question, but another way - sometimes useful for a group of modestly sized set of photos taken in the same light - is to open them all in Camera Raw (e.g., by opening them all in Photoshop), then using the Select All function and adjusting the white balance settings (or choosing a preset).  When done, press Done, and those settings will be saved for each of the images.

  • White balance from camera????

    I have a Canon 1D MkII N.
Aperture (1.5.2.) does not seem to apply the white ballance settings from my camera (RAW images of course).
Can't believe that I have to set the white balance for each and every image...
    Am I missing something?
    Please help

    Hi Roger,
The image should come in with the white balance settings that came off the camera. Specifically, the color temperature and tint should be set.
Now note that Aperture does not have the same defaults that the Canon RAW software has -- there is no "cloudy" "shade" "tungsten" e.g. as presets. But if you set it on shade it should come in with a temp of say 6500 -- whatever the camera defaults to. You will just see numbers for temperature and tint, though. Is this not what you're seeing?
I just tried it on my 1D mark II with 5 different color temperatures on camera and they're definitely different in Aperture. Tungsten came in at 3193K and has a definite blue cast. Though on the one I explicitly set to a color temp of 5200K on camera came into Aperture as 4800K.

  • White balance from a grey card

How to I use a grey card photo to adjust the white balance in other photos? Particularly in RAW.

Ah ... use Lift & Stamp.
White Balance is an adjustment.  Adjustments are copied from one Image to others by lifting them (they show in the Lift & Stamp HUD) from the source Image, selecting target Images, and stamping.  Note that lifting lifts all adjustments (and can also lift metadata).  You can remove adjustments and metadata from the Lift & Stamp HUD before stamping Images.
I use the keyboard shortcuts ⌥⌘c to lift, and ⌥⌘v to stamp — but these may not be the defaults.  Full information on using the Lift & Stamp feature is here in the User Manual.
Note the commands at the bottom of the Metadata menu.  You should have three options for lifting:  adjustments, metadata, and adjustments and metadata together.  Your currently-assigned keyboard shortcuts show at the end of the line in the menu showing the name of the command.

  • Batch editing raw files from bridge

When I batch edit my raw files, including saving the file as a jpeg, from bridge or photoshop the resulting file saved never includes any changes I made in the Camera Raw editor. For example if I have lightened the photo by changing the exposure in Camera Raw as a saved jpeg after batching the file is still as dark as when originally shot. Is there some little box I forgot to check or something? Thanks!
    andy

    Edit:
Glad to hear you got it working.
I'll just leave what i had put here anyway.
    You want Program Files (x86)
That's where the 32 bit programs such as photoshop cs3 are on a windows 7 64 bit system.
Also, in bridge cs3 under Edit>Preferences>Thumbnails ensure Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for Jpeg and Tiff files is checked.
    (then restart bridge cs3)

  • Automate (batch process) other than from default list?

I really admire the batch process feature that lets me automate functions. The problem is, I want to do something with a single page PDF that is not on the list; Save as TIFF. This is very common in my work environment, and time consuming. Any way to automate this that does not involve a feature request?
It seems to me that the equivalent feature in Photoshop (Record) is much more flexible.

Sure it's available. In Acrobat Pro XI add a Save command to your Action
and then click on Specify Settings and select "Export files to alternate
format" and select TIFF from the drop-down list.

  • Batch processing web pages from jpgs made from color corrected Camera Raw files

I processed and color corrected a set of photos shot in camera raw, then saved as tiffs. Then I set Photoshop to Batch process them into a web slide show. The images turned out looking like the raw files before processing....kind of desaturated, since they were shot on a grey day. So then i re-saved the raw files as jpgs and hypersaturated them to see if that would produce better results, but it did not. They looked almost as grey as the original raw files. I usually add saturation to files that will end up on the web, because ImageReady always seems to desaturate color.
    I'm running Mac OS4.1 and CS2.
    Thanks, Suzanne

    Suzanne,
    Try
converting your images to the sRGB color space before processing and/or saving them for web display. ALWAYS. Remember to use CONVERT to profile not
    assign

  • Batch processing / Creating Pdf from multiple folders

Need to convert some 50 folders each containing 100 jpg files into pdf. Up to now I made this via "Create pdf" each folder separately.. I tried to do this as a whole via "batch processing" but the sequences in there do not foresee the automatic creation of these folders. Any solution to this ?
Am working with Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Pro and Windows Vista Ultimate
    Thks

can you move all the folders to a main folder then you can have the batch point to the main folder then create another folder for the pdf to go into.

  • Can't batch files on network from bridge cs4

Started having this problem a few weeks ago, up until then I have always been able to use Bridges Batch command to process images on our file server. Our file server runs Samba, and no user authentication is needed.
If I use Bridge, and try to batch images that are on the server [Tools > Photoshop > Batch] then Photoshop gives me this error:
"FatalError: General Photoshop error occurred. This functionality may not be available in this version of Photoshop. - <no additional information available>"
But, if I run a batch from Photoshop [File > Automate > Batch] then I can process images on the server fine.
I can use Bridge to batch to Photoshop if those images are on my desktop/local disk.
So the error happens when Bridge tries to tell Photoshop which images to batch, if those files are on the file server. I've tried different files that have been created at different times (years) and from different machines but still the same error.
Not sure what has caused it, maybe an Apple update or something. We've  had that issue in the past when Snow Leopard couldn't write to Samba  drives because of the UNIX file name thing, but Apple did get around to  patching that. Maybe it's Adobe's way of trying to get us to upgrade to CS5..
    System Specs:
    iMac
    OSX 10.6.4
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz,
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    320GB HD
    Adobe Design Premium CS4
    Bridge: 3.0.0.464
    Photoshop: 11.0.2

If I use Bridge, and try to batch images that are on the server [Tools >
Photoshop > Batch] then Photoshop gives me this error:
"FatalError: General Photoshop error occurred. This functionality may not be
available in this version of Photoshop. - <no additional information
    available>"
Without knowing anything about working on a network this problem usually is
solved after having refreshed the preferences for Bridge. Have you already
    tried that?
Restart Bridge holding down alt key and from the menu choose reset
preferences. This brings them back to default settings so any custom
settings should be reset again to your own wishes.
The 10.6.4. update gave me a lot of problems with CS5 that temporarily have
been solved by disable OpenGL for CS5. This update might have caused also
this problem for you but that is not a certainty...

  • Photoshop cs5 says "Place" is unavailable when I try to batch process from bridge, does anyone know what's going on?

I am trying to batch process my watermark from bridge.  I have a saved action in photoshop cs5 and have used it for a while and all of the sudden it says "place" is unavailable.  I have reset bridge and photshop and restarted the computer.  Do actions get corrupt?

That is a very common error message actions produce when  for some reason the document current state does not support the command or feature used in the action step that gets the error.  With our seeing a screen capture of the error message and being able to see the document window, the layers palette and the actions palette   Its not possible to tell you why the actions is getting that error message.  Most likely its because of the document current state. For example place is not valid for a bitmap mode document.

  • In Bridge CS6, the "Tools" tab is missing the "Photoshop" option to batch process image

    Hello!
Does anyone know why in Bridge cs6 under the "Tools" tab, my "Photoshop" option is missing?  That is how I have always batch processed images.  In Bridge, I choose the images to process, go to the "Tools" tab, down to the "Photoshop" option then to "Image Processor" and process.  Now when I go into my "Tools" tab it only has the options: Batch Rename, 4 kinds of Metadata related options and Cache.  Can someone tell me why this has happened and how to fix it?  Thank you!!!
    Eric

    Hello Omke,
This problem lasted for two days.  I tried many suggestions but nothing worked immediately.  Suddenly I turned my computer on last night and it was fixed...inexplicably.  Not sure what worked but something did.  I appreciate you taking the time to offer advice.
    Best,
    Eric

  • White Balance tool and Camera Calibration Profiles

Downloaded Lightroom v4 Beta 1 for mac but the installer package failed to launch. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.) So I've only watched the adobe tv presentations todate.
Anyway just wanted to give some feedback as a pro photographer about use of Lightroom and improvments I would like to see in the next version.
I am a commercial photographer who needs colour accuracy in photographing fashion/garment images - most of my work is reproduced on a printing press for catalogues and brochures. On average a shoot will yeild about 500 images for a client, so workflow is important as they normally want them all!
As a previous user of Capture One Pro v6 and now lightroom v3.6 - the biggest issue I have with Lightroom is the dominace of red tint when setting the white balance from a gray card reference image, shot at the same time as the images to be processed. I'm not adding anything to the images other than doing a white balance, a tweak on exposure and camera neutral setting on profiles.
To obtain a white balance setting I use the combination of an  Xrite white balance card and the Q-Card and the old fasioned Kodak Gray cards all mounted on the same surface. I've used spot and ambient light readings on the gray cards to measure exposure and I've used the Adobe DNG Profiler and the Xrite colour checker profiler with the large colour checker card as a reference, (I've made profiles for sunny days, cloudy days, dual illuminant etc etc) and I'm viewing my images on a colour calibrated apple monitor.
Not withstanding all of the above the best results I get out of Lightroom are using the camera profile neutral setting! Everthing else is just too red!! even though the images do look more punchy; for accuracy of actual colour I choose the camera neutral profile.
Well when I say best results, those for colour critical garment photography and skin tones, these results are similar to those obtained from capture one pro v6.
So for the Lightroom v4 I would like to see.
    1. White balance RGB values in numbers rather than percentages.
    2. Add and delete a colour readouts points with a dropper tool on an image to enable more acurate colour balancing particularly in shadow areas - (already available on capture one pro and adobe photoshop)
    3. Curves adjustments in all RGB channels (think you've done this)
    4. Output to CMYK profiles.
    5. Individual levels channel adjustment for RGB
    6. Ability re-organize my tools palette (add and remove) is per Capture One and Photoshop
    Regards

The legacy ACR X.x profiles are no more produced nor included for newer cameras (AFAIK, since ACR 5.1/LR 2.1). The Adobe Standard is the new default starting point for these.
While I am at it....are the Canon camera profiles I downloaded for the 1Ds MKII the same as for the 5D MKII or do I have to download different one...I suspect they are the same or Lightroom wouldn't offer them to me...is that correct?
The profiles are different for each camera model, even if they share the same name in the Calibration panel. If you can see them when developing 5DII files, it means the camera-specific profiles are installed for your particular camera model (otherwise, you wouldn't see them).
