Batch Processing - Acrobat XI Pro - Freezed

HI eveyone,
I am trying to do Batch Processing in Acrobat XI Pro the same i do with Acrobat 9 PRO. What i aim to achieve is to Export the PDFs to PostScript but when working on a bigger volume ( more then 700 letters) it freezed up. Normally we are working with 3500 letters per batch. Any resolution to this?
or am i doing the wrong procedure on doing the batch processing in XI Pro?
here is my procedure: New Action Wizard > Save & Export > then i specify my settings to convert my folder to PostScript.
please help..
thanks
anthony

I had a discussion on these forums about this subject with an Adobe employee when the new version just came out and told him that it's not suitable for mass processing files. His reply amounted to saying that it wasn't meant for that, but for running macro-style sequences on small batches of files... In other words, it appears to be a "feature", not a bug. Let's hope it will improve in the next version of Acrobat...

  • Why does Acrobat XI PRO freeze during save or save as tasks in Window 8?

Why does Acrobat XI PRO freeze during save or save as tasks in Window 8?  It is intermittent, but CHRONIC, and I am forced to "repair" the installation, or reboot by computer.  This has been a problem since upgrading to Windows 8 and installing the only Acrobat XI update.  Feedback most welcome and appreciated, but an Adobe FIX would be the best solution.

10/4 to all, same problem here with Save or Save As in Acrobat XI Pro using Win 8 Pro, is it Adobe or Win 8 or both causing the problem.
FYI, I just retired and am trying to archive/reduce my printed material and pictures to pdf, this continuing problem is really the pits.................

  • Acrobat X Pro Freezes when editng JavaScripts

My Acrobat X Pro freezes a lot when I edit javascripts.  I have version 10.1.5 running on Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit OS.  Every time I force exit and restart the app, and my changes on code will not save.  Any idea what's going on?  How do I avoid it or it is simply a bug?
    Thank you

Not using JS console, only at editing JavaScripts to an Action on Text Field Properties.  The script is simple, just checking if the text field's value is not empty and not equal the default value, then save to a new filename.  No circular reference or writing to console...

  • Acrobat 11 Pro Freezes during OCR

I have a problem with Acrobat 11 Pro (trial version) freezing during OCR.
I am using x32 Windows 8.1 using a solid state hard drive.
While OCRing multiple documents, Acrobat will freeze around 200 pages into a document. I have OCRed a few documents, but eventually there is always a full Windows freeze.
Windows 8.1 is also frozen and there is no way to access any of the other programs on the computer.
The mouse still works though, but keyboard input does not. Each time this happened, I had to reboot with the power button. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled as well.
I have acrobat 9 Pro (full) and it works fine on a x64 Windows 8.1 machine (with a normal hard drive).
Any ideas what is going wrong?

Please share the crash dump with me, so that we can analyse the issue. You can generate the crash dump again using following steps:
    Create c:\temp\
Download and extract http://download.sysinternals.com/files/Procdump.zip into c:\temp.
Make sure no Acrobat instances are already running -- check via Task Manager.
Launch Acrobat -> Acrobat.exe should be running and there should be only 1 instance of this process.
Launch CMD prompt and type "cd c:\temp\procdump"
On the command-prompt type: "procdump -e -ma Acrobat.exe c:\temp\01.dmp". Procdump will now wait for the crash to happen.
Perform the actions in Acrobat that cause it to crash.
Once the Acrobat crashes, Procdump will create dump at c:\temp\01.dmp.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Freezes & Shuts Down - I need help.

I am running Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro on Windows XP and recently I started getting messages that say "Please wait while document is prepared for reading" and then AA9 freezes and eventually shuts down.  I did 2 repair installations that did not resolve the problem.  I need help if anyone knows how to fix this.  Thanks.

Try turning off the accessibility feature under the preferences.

  • Disable Auto-Rotation in OCR Process (Acrobat 9 Pro)

Is there a way to disable the auto-rotation step as part of the OCR process? I have documents which I assemble in from images of tables. (If I had acces to the text of the tables, I wouldn't be using images of them). I place each screenshot in the correct orientation, but when I have Acrobat 9 Pro OCR the document, it auto-rotates many pages into the wrong orientation (some 90° clockwise; others 90° counterclockwise and some 180°). Since Acrobat is horribly confused by what it is seeing, I need to disable the auto-rotation part of the process so that it will OCR what it finds exactly as it finds it.

Very likely the pages of interest have a least one character of renderable text. This might not be readily seen by you or me but it'd be there.
Acrobat's OCR will not process a page that has any renderable text.
    Be well...

  • Acrobat X Pro freezes opening certain PDFs

    Hi!
Sooooo....  Acrobat X Pro works normally most of the time, but when certain PDFs are opened either by doubleclicking or by right-click Open, Acrobat will freeze and hang.  Reader opens them fine.  I can't distinguish anything unusual about these particular files.  I don't have access to the computer in question much of the time, but I believe the properties said they were created in FileMaker Pro, and said something about Acrobat 7.
The files will open normally in Acrobat X if there is another file already open.
I have installed all current updates and tried changing security preferences.
    Anyone seen this problem before?
    TIA!

  • Batch Processing, Acrobat 7

I'm new here so be gentle.  I need to create a batch process in Acrobat 7 to convert files from color to grayscale.  I've searched the internet and haven't found any reference to how to make this batch.  In addition, and having never made a batch in Acrobat, I am confused as to how it would work.  Let's be honest creating actions and batches is so much easier in Photoshop.  Is my batch process even possible?  Need some serious help.  Thanks.

Acrobat 7 is a very old version of Acrobat, and most of us aren't using it.
I don't have the answer to your question, but I suggest cross-posting this question to the Creating Editing Exporting PDFs forum because there are some old timers there who might have the answer to your question:

  • Vista SP1 Acrobat 8 Pro Freezing

I've had this issue ever since I installed Vista SP1 on my PC. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and updated Acrobat 8 Pro to 8.1.2 - the latest update. As soon as I open the program I have about 5 seconds until it freezes on me, similar to how it did right after Vista came out (before 8.1 update). I've checked my system and I have nothing running that would conflict with it running, other than SP1. I am running Vista Ultimate x64 SP1. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great!!!!

    Hi Errol,
    I share your frustration -
There seems to be a really long thread about this a little further down the topic list.
The problem is that I've spent an hour looking at msgs - finally started at the end (where the topic was XP(!) even tho started out Vista).
Here's a promising link I found somewhere about the middle. The computer I'm having trouble with is at work (and I'm at home on spring break) so I don't know if it will help.
My BIGGEST frustration is that I've been poking around the Adobe site since last November and NEVER found this download!!

Good luck to both of us!

  • Acrobat X Pro Freezing

I have a .pdf file that every time you open it, it freezes Acrobat X up and I need to force quit the application.  The document views fine in Preview but when you try to open it up in Acrobat it freezes.  I downloaded Adobe Reader and it freezes also.  My main goal is to get it to open in Acrobat to view and edit it.  Is there a work around or a fix for this type of issue.  I've tested this out on 10.7.1 and 10.6.7.  I'm running Acrobat X Pro v10.0.3.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    hi:
    1.  i would like to second this problem.   i currently run mac 10.6.7 and just "upgraded" to acrobat pro X (from 9) and basically the same thing that was happening with 9 is now happening with acrobat pro X--> I open up a document and basically when I try to work on the document, it freezes up and thus I have to do a force quit.
    2.  obviously there's some software issue here and after putting down some decent bucks on this upgrade, it would be nice if the thing actually works.
    3.  question:  what is the solution?    is anyone running acrobat pro X and OS Lion?    Any problems there?
    thanks for the info.  harry

    Hi Sukrit,
I replied to your email 2 weeks ago with no feed back.  This surely not a good support from a company like adobe.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro freezes at the attempt to print from IE8

    Hi,
I have reoccurring problem with printing to PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.1.2 (apparently the newest) from various IE8 web pages. Every now and than the little window showing the progress of printing just freezes and the only way to get forward is to end process (using Task Manager) of the printing (adobe) and IE8, (which gets stuck at the same time as well).
Just few minutes ago I just tried to do the same on Equity Thought website from my account and it repeated the same trouble.
I have cleared all temp files and rebooted and tried again, this time switching IE8 to compatibility mode prior, and result is the same. New Adobe Acrobat is failing to print to PDF from some websites and I am unable to find solution on my own.
I have browsed Interent and it appers I am not alone in this problem. IE8 seems to provide a lot of trouible to users of Adobe Acrobat software. However I was unable to find any solution for my case.
On the other PC, where I have still Acrobat Pro 7.1.0 I do not have any problem with printing to PDF. IE8 does not need to be in compatibility mode for this.
Both PC are on Win XP pro with SP3.
So I would assume this is not MS software problem but Adobe.
    Therefore my query is:
Is anyone familiar with this type of problem and knows where to look for solution, or maybe even knows what the solution could be, please.

No, I do not think I used Adobe PDF Maker before.
I use only Adobe PDF printer that is created during the install (in my case it came with CS3).
The “freeze” happens when the little window called “creating Adobe PDF” comes on and blue progress indicator starts moving to the right. Somewhere past half way it just gets stuck and I can wait one, two, three or more minutes and nothing will happen. Hide button sometimes works and sometimes does not. In any way after that everything freezes (means Acrobat and IE8 stuff) and the only way to clean it is to use Task Manager to end processes.
I use Acrobat extensively to print from web, from AutoCAD and from all MS Office applications for last nine ten years (since Acrobat 4) and this is first time I have any trouble.
What do you mean by "new hook"?
Why would it affect Acrobat 9 and not version 7?

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro Freezing After Install on Brand New Dell Optiplex 580

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a solution to an issue I am having.
I installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 onto a brand new Dell Optiplex 580 running Windows XP (AntiVirus was not installed yet).  When launching, it freezes 3-5 seconds after opening and I need to open Task Manager to kill the process.
    I have tried:
    Repair install
Deleteing Preferences folder and letting the program recreate it
Manually starting and restarting the FLEXnet service
    Running in compatibility mode
Applying the updates for Adobe Acrobat Pro (up to 8.2.4)
    Running Adobe without background services
    Manually uninstalling and reinstalling
Thanks for your help in advance,
    Seth

Another possibility to check is the free space in the TEMP folder. I believe Acrobat uses the TEMP folder for temporary storage. You might even consider increasing the size of the TEMP folder. At least this is something else to check.

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard/Pro freezing when opening large PDF documents

Ok, I have a tough one. Adobe Acrobat X Standard/Pro keeps freezing when opening large documents that exceed approx. 50 pages. These PDF documents contain large images and graphs for mining purposes, but no links. The issue impacts multiple users on multiple laptops/desktops. We have tried the following:
    - Uninstalling/re-installing Adobe Acrobat
    - Disabling Enhanced Security in Acrobat Preferences
    - Resetting local user profiles
    - Changing Reading Preferences to view current visible pages only
    - Installing Adobe Acrobat XI
This issue has only occurred after upgrading users to a Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit Operating System.
The only possible solution I have managed to find is changing a registry key that permanently disables the Enhanced Security options in Acrobat. This solution however, only worked on brand new user profiles. Resetting user profiles throughout our entire company is not something we are even going to consider.
If anyone would like more information that I have missed, please feel free to ask.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Pro freezes

We updated to Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.0.06 from Adobe 8.  We are using Windows Vista with IE 9.  Right away, users began having issues with IE freezing when users launched a PDF from our web-based application.  It wasn't all users but only some.  We tried a number of things including disabling protective mode, rolling them back to Acrobat 8 (which fixed their issues) and then upgrading them from there (problems resumed).   We checked and Display PDF in browser is checked.  Please help!

We did that.  Unfortunately, it didn't work.  I had hope though.  we are using Vista which wasn't one of the things Adobe tested.  Unfortunately, Windows 7 is an issue for us because of a software application that will not work.  All kinds of fun here!
