Batch Processing Mass PDFs to Word. Constant "Save As".

I have a huge amount of files to convert from PDF to MS Word for my job. I understand how to do a batch process using Action Wizard, however, the process has been painful because it has to actually open up every single document to convert.
Before it moves to the next file it asks, "Save As" for every document which is taking forever and I need to meet deadlines.
Is there a way around this?? I am using Windows 7 with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.07.79
Thanks

If it goes into Not Responding and then comes back, don't worry at all. This is working properly.
Many people think that "Not responding" always means some awful thing has happened and it must be fixed. No, you've just asked it to do something that takes a long time, and it's so busy that it doesn't respond when Windows asks if it is free for more work.
It's a hint from Windows that something MIGHT be wrong, but not if it does finish and come back to normal.
It also isn't the computer that goes "not responding", it's a single app. You can run other apps. But you certainly can't make Acrobat do something else while this is happening. It is a simple interactive tool designed for light use, so it isn't expected to be used for thousands of files.

  • Acrobat 9 Batch Processing - Get PDF filenames from folder?

    Hello,
Can anyone provide me with an example with how to use Batch Processing (when set to a specific folder/files) to get a list of filenames in that folder? I haven't been able to find any examples online. There doesn't seem to be any built in batch sequences that automatically do this so I assume it will need to be done with javascript?
Ultimately, I need to automate a process (I was hoping to create a batch sequence to accomplish this) that will allow me to prompt a user to pick a source folder of PDFs and then based on that selection, run a Javascript that I create which will merge all PDFs in that folder into a new PDF, apply some crop setttings to each page, and then prompt the user where to save the merged PDF?
Has anyone ever done anything like this? I would love to see an example of how this might be able to be achieved.
    Many thanks in advance.

Have you tried to create a test batch process (now called Actions)?  Actions in Acrobat 10 has the "merge all files in folder" option, and batch processing in previous versions has always included a page crop commad as well as an option for asking the user where to save the file.

  • Batch process crop Pdfs in background

    Hello
Have read various posts on here, and from what I read I'm not sure it's possible... but thought I'd ask!
I am using Acroboat XI Pro and after each print production cycle, I have a huge batch of PDFs with printer marks/bleeds etc which I want to crop by batch process down to A4.  In our previous version of Acrobat we could configure the action, point it to a source folder, and run the action, saving the cropped files into a separate processed folder. Easy.
Using Action Wizard, I haven't been able to find a way to specify a destination folder - and running the Wizard either prompts us to overwrite the source file, or I can add a Save action and rename the file. This isnt ideal as we ideally want to retain the same naming convention.
I guess I could rename the files, then use Bridge to strip the added prefix out - but want to avoid over-complicating what used to be a one-click process :-(
Can anyone let me know if they have found a way around this.
    Much appreciated
    Sharon

Change the Save command to "Save to local folder" (by clicking the arrow icon next to it), and then select where you want to save the edited files.

  • Batch conversion from pdf to Word

How do I create an action or batch processing step that will convert a large number of pdf files to Word?
I can convert a large number of files TO pdf, but it seems like you can't easily export pdf to Word. I tried downloading one of the actions on the Adobe web site that claimed to do this, but it says the file is corrupt.
I have 15,000 pdfs in a directory and I want to convert them to Word (they have already been OCR'ed using the batch mode).
Surely there is a straightforward way to do this?
BTW: I apologize if this is the wrong community, but I couldn't find a better place to post this question.

    Dear Gilad D,
Thanks very much. I can make this work. This is a big help.
What I really would have liked is a command line tool on the Mac, like textutil, that allows this:
    pdf2word in_file.pdf out_file.pdf
It is amazing how hard it is to do such simple command line things in this era of GUIs. For those of us who operate on large piles of data, command line interfaces are indispensable.
MVP: You are correct. Even Apple's Automator seems to choke when you give it too many files.
The only drawback of this approach is that the Action doesn't seem to descend the directory tree (like selecting files from finder will let you do). The reason I actually need a command line tool is that the pdf files are scattered about a file system with other pdfs that I don't want to convert. However, I can script around this.
    Thanks very much!!!

  • Batch processing a PDF file with photoshop droplet

hey, ive been trying and trying to make a photoshop droplet where i can drop a pdf on it and it will apply a "levels" (cmd+L on mac) change to all of the pages and re export it as a pdf.
.....i know how to record actions and create droplets but there are issues with the number of pages of the pdf and the name of the pdf
if you can figure out method for this and share that would be AWESOME!

Which version of Audition are you using? The latest ones allow you to specify where the batched files are saved and also if any Prefix or Postfix are added to the file name. These are all under Export Settings in the Batch Process pane. However you must have the Export box ticked to give you access to the settings.

  • Batch processing / Creating Pdf from multiple folders

Need to convert some 50 folders each containing 100 jpg files into pdf. Up to now I made this via "Create pdf" each folder separately.. I tried to do this as a whole via "batch processing" but the sequences in there do not foresee the automatic creation of these folders. Any solution to this ?
Am working with Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Pro and Windows Vista Ultimate
    Thks

can you move all the folders to a main folder then you can have the batch point to the main folder then create another folder for the pdf to go into.

  • Batch Processing of PDF files to JPG

i'm having this aweful issue of PFG to JPG conversions
Now the files are in pdf format and their sizes are quite large, round 15000px height maybe
I only want my jpg files to be 700px high, for this once my pdf files have been opened in photoshop, i created an action for this, that part is ok
I tried batch conversion, using actions as well, but it's still not that automatic because the pdf window still pops up every time a new pdf is being opened on photoshop asking me for how high i want my pdf file. so if i have 600 pdfs (i do!) it's 600 times i have to type in 700 px in the height box.
Plus the pdf files have been partitioned into folders and subfolders, the actions also have a problem: they don't save it in the same folder as from where i opened them.
is there any way out of this ?

There is a script called PDF Processor you can try.
The last one listed is the one you want (most up to date)

Put the script in your photoshop>presets>scripts folder and the script should then
    be under File>Scripts>Pdf Processor.

  • Batch processing: save processed file with same name to different location without moving the original

Hi, I would like to denoise Voice Over files with help of Auditions Batch Process. However, I have to save the files with the same name as the original, so that I can simply relink them in Premiere. Since I do want to keep the originals, I would like to save the processed files to a different location.
Unfortunately, Batch Processor adds " Copy" to the processed files and moves the originals along with the processed files to the new folder (causing Premiere to loose the original files).
Can I achieve my goal with Batch Processor, and how would I have to configure it?
    Kind regards,
    Andreas

  • How to batch process in Aperture?

At present I am laboriously adjusting each and every photo in Aperture. Since most of my photos need just about the same tweaks how does one batch process? In other words how does one apply the same adjustments to all photos?
    TIA
    Ken

heck ya it saves time ...
also, once you have them lifted and the L&S HUD is open, you can selectively uncheck or delete certain adjustments ...
you can also just lift adjustments or just lift metadata ...
very powerful the more you play with it ...

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - previous output settings in a batch process keep interfering with new one

I created a batch process for pdf/a conversion.  For the output setting, I unchecked the "overwrite" box and added a suffix to the file name.
When I deleted one and recreated a different one, it is still appending that old suffix to the file name and overwriting the old file.
Even though I uninstalled and reinstalled the software (Acrobat 9 Pro), the batch processes I had created before were still there, hence the problem remains.
How do I delete these files so I can start over?  Tech support didn't solve the problem and having a hard time getting through.

    Hi,
User created *.sequ files are stored:
    Vista –
    C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Sequences
    XP –
    C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\<6.0> or <7.0> or 8.0> or <9.0>\Sequences
It may be worth a search for all *.sequ files on the HDD to be sure you know where all of them are.
Sounds like old ones were not removed by uninstall & with re-install, Acrobat is picking them up.
    Be well...

  • Can I use Reader X to draw freeform lines on documents I "saved as PDF" from Word?

I would like to use the feature described as follows on the Adobe website: "Review documents with a complete set of commenting tools such as sticky notes, highlighting, lines, shapes, and stamps."
According to the website, Adobe Reader X can use this feature if the PDF has had that option enabled when it was created in more full-featured version of Acrobat.
I would like to know, Does a document that I've saved as a PDF from Word (using Save As) count as having that feature enabled?
    Thank you,
    James

With PDF files created using Word(Save As), you can only add sticky notes and use highlighting.
You will have to use Adobe ACrobat to create a PDF with has Commenting enabled for Reader also.

  • Printing Adobe PDF using mass/batch processing

I've got Purchase Order, Contracts and RFQ forms created using Adobe PDF print forms. Currently, immediate processing is used to print/email/fax the forms (that means that after a PO/Contract/RFQ is created, it is immediately printed/emailed/faxed). An enhancement I'm working on is to allow for mass/batch processing so that the forms will be printed/emailed/faxed at a set time each day. The issue I'm facing is that using mass processing, the PDFs become corrupted (for example, the first PDF form is sent ok but subsequent forms become corrupted or become a duplicate of the first one). When customers receive the corrupted PDF, they get the error that the form cannot be opened.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to accomplish batch/mass processing using Adobe PDF forms? Right now, the immediate processing path is working fine since the there is low volume. However, the goal is to switch to mass processing once volume increases.

I copied and made modifications to the SAP standard print program SAPFM06P and called it ZSAPFM06P. I also made copies of the include files. So for immediate output processing, each time a Purchase Order PDF is created it calls the print program ZSAPFM06P. This process works great no matter how many PDFs are created from POs.
The issue is with BATCH/MASS PROCESSING. Here is the scenario:
    - Purchase requisitions are created anytime during the day.
    - Every 15 mins., the purchase reqs are batched together and an automatic process starts that converts them to purchase orders.
    - Creating each PO calls the print program ZSAPFM06P and depending on the communication strategy, the POs are either printed, emailed or faxed to the customer.
The problem seems to be that when multiple POs are created, some get corrupted and some become duplicate of other POs. However, using immediate processing, this is never the case no matter how many POs are created.
I checked the program and the internal tables and variables used in the code do get cleared/reset each time a PO is created so I don't see how using immediate processing works while batch processing doesn't even though they both call the same program.
I hope this makes it clear a little bit.

  • Frustrated: Batch Processing - save PDF to Tiff or PNG!!

I can do this using the menu operation manually without any problem, however, there could be hunders of PDFs that need to be saved into Tiff or PNG.
I tried the Batch Processing tool. This is the output format settings:
    However, I got this error:
The convertion settings were never touched. In other words, the same thing can be done manually, but not in batch processing.
And I tried the rich text format, with the same sequence, the only difference is set the output format to .rft. That at least ran without any error.
Any idea/suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Come on, no one can help?
