Batch Rename based on Content, is this possible????

Hello all,
I have a large amount of PDF files that I need to rename. The PDF files are contracts relating to individual companies and I need to place the company in the title.
right now they are saved with numbers at the end: Contract_1, Contract_2, etc.
I need to have it as: Contract_Smith Co, Contract_ACME, etc.
Does anyone know of a PDF renaming (or splitting program) program that can replace the numbers with a specific line of text from within the pdf itself?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey thanks a lot, unfortunately I am unsure of how to edit Meta data, how would I do that for all 300 at once, does it help to know that I created the contracts using InDesign's data merge system

Rename SCCM SQL Database is this possible

I would like to rename the SCCM 2012 database. The reason for the rename is because we would like to use Configuration Manager 2012 Web Frontend for remote control access. This will give our Helpdesk and Desktop techs a web interface to be able to use for remote control feature without requiring the
management console installed. We used something similar in the past and was very popular in our users. The problem is that the software is looking for an SCCM DB that is named CM_OURSITECODE. When setting up our SCCM 2012
DB we used a different name for the database SCCM2012DB. I would like to change our database name to CM_OURSITECODE so this Web Frontend software will work.
I see where it says it is supported but that is for SCCM 2007 and we are using 2012. When I try the steps in the post I can change the server name but the database name is grayed out and can't be changed. In my case I would
like to leave the server name alone and just change the database name. With the option being grayed out I'm thinking that MS has changed something to not allow DB name changes in SCCM 2012. I have not been able to find any documentation that states it is supported
or not.
IIRC, it's not best practise to talk directly to the DB either. This vendor probably should have used the SMS Provider instead.
SMS Provider vs SQL Server: Although Configuration Manager leverages SQL Server for data storage, SQL Server is NOT the primary programming interface to Configuration Manager. The primary programming interface to Configuration Manager is the SMS Provider (WMI) - object creation and modification must be done via the SMS Provider. You should consider SQL Server as providing read-only access to Configuration Manager data for querying and reporting purposes. This is not a matter of permissions, rather matter of maintaining data integrity.

Batch Renaming files by Content?

I have several thousand word documents recovered from a hard drive all named random numbers. Hoping there is a batch renamer out there that can name the files according to the first few words in the document? Almost all of them have titles in the document. Please tell me this tech is available somehwere!

I think you would need to write an applescript to do this.
When you open the file, does the document come up in word?

After reset manually restore all the content - is this possible?

I had to reset my ipod because it wasn't recognised anymore. Beforehand I manually copied all the content of the ipod to an external HD. After the reset I copied the whole lot back but in the menu system of the ipod nothing seems to be there. Does this mean that manually backup/restore is not possible or do i have to do something else?

i had to do the same to mine just the other night after attempting and failing with ipl. before i restored my ipod i explored the drive and opened the hidden folder ipod system i believe it was. I copied 3 folders: Music, Itunes and the album art. Once i restored my ipod a just copied these files back. I had all my music back and it was like nothing had changed.

Separating logs in OSB based on project - is this possible?

I'm using OSB 11.1.1.3.0 and I'd like log messages generated from the log action to go to a different log file based on OSB project. I've found messages on the forum that discuss this, for example:
alsb logging
These posts only explain how to log messages from ALL OSB projects in a domain to a SINGLE log file, which I already have working using a LogFilter, but I'd like to take it a step further and log messages to a different log file depending on the specific project where the log action was invoked.
I want to use a method that involves LogFilters rather than explicit OSB Reporting or File business services, to keep it unobtrusive from the perspective of the application developer.
I've checked the output of the LogRecord methods and I don't see anything that will let me get a handle on the specific project a log originates from, but I've noticed that at the start of each log message information is logged inside [], for example:
[raiseEvent Operation, raiseEvent Operation_request, stage1, REQUEST]
This looks promising but unfortunately it doesn't always contain the OSB project name (sometimes it does, but not in this example).
So my questions are:
1. Has anyone successfully split logs based on OSB project using the WLS/JDK logging system?
2. Is there a way to specify what is logged in the [] at the start of each log message?

It has been done in a previous client by the then BEA in a different manner. Instead of using any java callouts or log4j code within osb, that task has been shifted to a weblogic startup class. So this is how it works:
At OSB
Use Log action to record log messages. Put appropriate annotation based on the project to categorize the log messages into different files later.
Example: Log : Request Message Processed succesfully. Annotation: OSB_LOG: <Project_Name> Severity: Info. Note Annotation has 2 parts : a hard coded OSB_LOG and a variable +<Project_Name> part+
This log message gets recorded in the manged server log file as : Info: OSB_LOG:<Project_Name> Request Message Processed successfully
At WLS
You have to configure the logging settings of the server so that this log message reaches the domain logger. For e.g. server should be configured to broadcast to domain logger at severity info and above if you want to get the above message
Startup class
This startup class will be deployed to the admin server. What it does is in the startup method gets the domain logger and registers a custom handler to it. The custom handler is implemented to inspect each LogRecord it gets from domain logger to check for the presence of hard coded string (OSB_LOG) . If the record has this string then it understands this log record has come from OSB application and not from any WLS subsystem and hence this message is important to it. Next step is to determine the logger name by getting the <Project_Name> from the Log Record. It creates a new logger with the same name as that of Project_Name and logs the message with the same severity as in the original message.
One key advantage of this is that is if your OSB is deployed to a cluster, you will get log messages from all managed servers for that particular project ( or a proxy service) at one location.

Advanced Batch Rename using RegEx?

I've got hundreds of files to rename, they're all images of vehicles that have been named based on their reg, there are 8 images per vehicle denoted by the number 1-8 immediately after the reg nuber.
What I need to do is insert a _ between the end of the reg, and the number at the end (1-8), I've had a look around to find a regular expression to try to do this in the string substitution option. But can't find one anywhere, and can't for the life of me figure it out myself because this is the first time I've ever seen regex etc.
All I need to do is select the last character of each file name, any ideas. Example:
Currently named:
BX59AHB1
Needs to be:
BX59AHB_1
All the registrations are different, and on the end of each is number either from 1 to 8. Any help would be greatly appreciated because it will takes hours to go through them one by one.

Regular expressions are very useful stuff and NOT just to scripters… You should be able to do much more with Bridge's Batch Rename now that it has this addition.
There is only 1 line of text in a file name you may not actually need the ^
No the files will not all end up with an _1 the expression \d matches any digit [0-9] which 1 thru 8 are part of… So it will put whatever digit was in that position back…

Adobe Bridge Batch Rename Stopped Working

ive been using bridge exclusively to rename/
organize my files and today for some odd reason it just will not work. i select the files i wish to rename and then select batch rename and name/numer the files as ive always done before and when i click rename nothing happens at all. i cleared out my cache to no avail and im now officially stumped. any help is appreciated. thanks!

Your problem does seem odd. Difficult to troubleshoot by remote, so run a few tests and see if you can narrow the problem down.
By any chance are you trying a batch re-name of files on an external drive? If so may be permissioning problem.
Do you have this problem in all folders or just one? If one there may be a contaminated file or name (i.e. flower.jpeg.jpeg)
To avoid fouling up your files copy a dozen or so and put in "test" folder then run these tests.
Can you do a simple rename of one file?
Can you do a batch rename of one file?
If the above is true can you do batch rename for all files in this folder?
If so does the extension make any difference - jpeg, psd, etc.?

Can't batch rename my photos

I used to be able to batch name my photos with a title and then let i-photo put a number after it (like airshow 1, airshow 2.....) Now it won't work it looks like its going through the process but when I check info the photos still have the file names from my camera.
I have not done any upgrades since os 10.4.2 and it took away my ability to print through my network
Any Ideas on what would be wrong with the batch reame?

Thank you for the information, it helped some maybe you can help me out, I want to back up 5000 photos to dvd so I have a hard copy of them. Last week end I went through the export as originals and burned them to dvd. My problem is I have about 500 photos that have the same file name (the one given by the camera) and when I go to export them into a burn folder it says do I want to replace the photos already in the burn folder. So I am missing some pics. I thought I was double selecting the photos but I found one of the file names and did a search an 2 different photos showed up. I was hoping with batch rename the file names so this wouldn't happen.

Possible to create folder during batch rename?

I use bridge to sort my photos, and store them in a file structure such as:
Photos/2010-12-24-ChristmasEveParty/2010-12-24-ChristmasEveParty-001.jpg
Photos/2010-12-24-ChristmasEveParty/2010-12-24-ChristmasEveParty-nnn.jpg
Using the batch rename, it's easy to rename them this way, and copy them to my file server. The only manual step is to create the folder 2010-12-24-ChristmasEveParty (in this case).
Anyone know if it's possible to have Bridge create this folder also? I'm typing in the name as part of the file naming anyway...

You might go to tools/photoshop and see if either the batch or image processor might work for you. Perhaps could write action to include in rename.

Hi Pez,
iTunes in the Cloud is not iCloud. Any songs that you have purchased but have not downloaded (or have deleted), go to iTunes in the cloud. The setting I mentioned will show all of your purchases in the various views in the Music app, whether they are on your device or not. If you turn that setting off, you will only see items that are actually on your device.

Batch rename in Adobe CC Bridge does not work. Is there any fix for this problem?

I'm using Adobe CC Bridge to batch rename a folder of RAW files. Version 6.0.1.6. I've got the latest Mac Pro running Maverick. I set up the parameters in the Batch Rename tool, but when I hit Rename, nothing happens. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Is anyone else experiencing this? Adobe can you fix this bug?

I am experiencing this same (or related) bug with using the batch rename inside of Bridge CC (Mac OS X 10.9.5).
First I filter out a subset of a folder of images that I want to batch-rename, then on the 12 or so thumbs I selected, I invoke the "batch-rename" dialog box... it presents its usual options, which work the first time. Subsequent attempts fail.
I close the search filter, I re-type my filter, I close the bridge window, re-open the bridge window, etc. to no avail.
It's interesting to note at this point, the program won't quit; it has to be force-quit.

Are you referring to the 3-letter ".jpg" extension being deleted? You can't do that, of course! If that is still the case, you'll have to add it manually to each JPEG file.

Have you been syncing the iPod with iTunes? Then you just connect the iPad and set it up through iTunes and sync any content you want onto it.

In terms of games/apps. If they are not universal (you will see a + symbol next to them) or made for iPad (you would see an HD in the name, usually) then they won't look good on an iPad as those apps will open in a iPod sized window, giving you the option to enlarge.

Based on my experience of OWB10gR2 the option to create a "Value Based" hierarchy is only enabled if you create an AW based OLAP model. If you want to create a ROLAP model then I do not think this is possible.
Question is why create a ROLAP model when you could get better performance and more powerful analytical features by using a multidimensional model within an analytic workspace.
