Batch Save command wants to save copy

I'm trying to take a folder of tiff files and resize them to 150 pixels and save as jpgs.  I created the necessary actions yet when I run the batch it stops at the "Save As" action and prompts me to save as "file copy copy".  I've tried recreating the actions and also tried selecting "Override Save As Command" and nothing seems to be working.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Any idea as to how to work around this?  I'm using CS4, by the way.
Thanks,
Mel

I believe you need to run an action, on all of the tif files, that flattens the layers.  (Better yet, on COPIES of those files)  I think then you can run your action to save as jpg.  Hope I'm correct.
Point is, jpg's can't have layers.

But it is a client reqment.
I am not using itext or pdfwriter calss. as i told i am just reading the file and just showing the user through a servlet. But still let me try the options which you have givenThe base Java libraries can't do what you want. As Saish indicated either the Adobe or iText libraries will be needed. Adobe doesn't sell their libraries separately - you'd have to purchase their giant application server to use it.

  • Batching SaveAs in CS6 will not save PDF Compatible

So I'm using a script that I wrote to bring in files that were converted from CorelDraw to EPS (this is the best conversion process to preserve text and drawing assets).  Basically the script takes the art in the EPS, groups it, places a rectangular border around the art and centers them.  We do this so that they come into InDesign correctly sized.  The problem is, it used to be 100% automated, just about, however now the saveas action command will not remember that "Save as PDF Compatible" needs to be set to true.  When I do a saveas command, it's check by default, but when the saveas command is batched, it does NOT do it that way.  When I try to bring batched AIs into InDesign, it's text that says it was not saved as PDF Compatible.  Am I going to have to script a save function to get control of the saveas settings?  I don't understand why PDF compatible is checked by default, yet batching saveas saves as if it unchecked it.  Any help would be much appreciated as this is throwing a wrench in my automation.

I know that I can handle the saveas via script and avoid this issue, however I'd prefer let the action portion handle the saveas.  You understand what I'm saying though, right?  The record action button apparently isn't logging the checked box for PDF compatible, though when you click saveas so the record records your action, the dialog shows it as pdf compatible.  In the batch function, if I say override save functions, it works perfectly, but I have to click yes or no on a dialog every single drawing it goes through.  So are you saying I just need to script it because the actions setup is bugged?

  • Over-riding automatic save/copy of "sent" e-mail ??

Is there any way to over-ride (for a single message) the automatic save/copy of "sent" e-mail ?? ie there are occasions when I DON'T want to keep a copy.....

As far as I'm aware, you can choose to either save a copy or not.
This is set up in your Account Settings> copies & folders for the mail account.
I'm not aware of any method that lets you preselect to not save a particular email. Other than changing the Account Settings prior to creating the email and then resetting them again after sending.
The only option would be to save all as auto and delete what you do not want.

  • Need help with simple Quicktime 8 Batch Save As Mov script

I'm new with AppleScript and would like to create a simple script that will take MEPG, AVI, and other video files and wrap them as an MOV file. I thought I used to have a script that would allow me to drop multiple files or folders onto it and it would batch "save as" to the MOV container. Any help is appreciated!

  • Is there any way to batch-save emails and attachments as PDFs?

As I move toward a paperless office, I sure would like a way to batch save a group of emails AND their attachments as a single PDF. I can open each email and save it as a PDF, but when I have 10+ emails exchanged on a topic (like from other board members), I really don't want to do that. Has anyone heard of being able to do what I want?
I am not conversant in AppleScript AT ALL, and my one attempt to try to make a script for this went down in flames.

If you select a group of emails at one time, you can choose print and save a PDF.
If you want them all to be in one PDF file instead of individual pdf files, then save them to a folder.
With Preview, you can combine pdf files into one.
Open the first file with Preview. Open the sidebar in Preview and you will see the icon of the file you have open. Select the rest of the files you saved in the folder and drag them on top of the icon in the Preview sidebar. You should see a box appear around the icon. Drop the files on top and it should group them together.
Then save the file. It should have all the emails combined to that one file.

  • Error message: Could not save copy as "C:..." because the file is already in use or left open by another application

I always get the Errormessage: Could not save copy as "C:..." bacause the file is already in use or left open by another alpplication
while trying to save a file as a jpg. even when the file is not left open or in use.. .

Without knowing exact technical details, nobody can say anything. From genuine issues with your storage devices like block errors or fragmentation to specific security stuff causing delays and blockages in writing files anything is imaginable. Your info is simply insufficient to make even a superficial diagnosis beyond those generics.

  • How can I batch save my adjusted raw images as jpgs in Lightroom 4

I have a job that I imported to Lightroom 4.  I made adjustments to 40 of the images and would like to batch save these as jpgs with the LR adjustments saved.  So far I know I can save the raws as jpgs but the adjustments are not being saved.  I would hate to have to open each image individually to save these changes.  Thanks for any help!

Highlight the 40 images, and then open the export dialogue and set your options. There is no "save" option or "save as" option in Lightroom. Since Lightroom doesn't alter your original images, it is necessary to export derivative copies for whatever use you need.

  • Batch save Mail messages as PDF's

I am in need of saving all of my email messages in my inbox as individual PDF documents. I know you can do it one at a time via "Print>save as PDF" but we are talking about a few hundred email messages here.
Is there anyway to take advantage of something like automator or could someone show me some software to batch save all of these messages?
Thanks so much for the help.

In Mail, select all the messages to print (a smart mailbox may help).  When all are selected do a file > save as (RTF or plain text).  This will create one printable file with all the messages.  You can then load this file into TextEdit and print it as a PDF.
Thanks -- this may be what I go with.  However, when I tried this the rtf file did contain all of the messages, but did not show the header information on each (To:, From:, Date: ...), so I continued my search for a solution.  I think I found something that works.  My project is actually larger than what I described.  Interested people may be able to use some or all of the following.
The project started when I asked a friend to send me all of the emails that I have sent him over the last 15 years.  He had archived them all in Windows / Outlook Express.  I had not archived them.  He was able to give me a .DBX file containing them all.  I used a free program called DbxConv in Windows to convert the .DBX file to a .MBX file.
In Apple Mail I did File/Import_Mailboxes/File_In_mbox_Format to import them.  Then, View/Organize_by_Conversation (checked on).  Select all messages and File/Print/PDF/Save_As_PDF into a new folder on the desktop.  This will generate many pdfs.
    Now the new part:
Next, drag all of the PDFs into Preview.  Finally, in Preview, File/Print/PDF/Save_As_PDF.  This will create a single pdf file with all messages, including imbedded attachments, with info displayed in your current Apple Mail format -- dependent on how you like your Apple Mail messages displayed (minimal header, expanded header, etc.) . . . . .  I think!
At least it worked for me, once.  I try it again and see what develops.

  • How to batch "Save As" in Photoshop CS3

My workflow includes picking photos from Bridge and opening them in Photoshop CS4 as Smart Object. I often have twenty or more photos open in Photoshop. Is there a way to batch "Save As" the photos (using the default name Photoshop gives them)? Otherwise I have to do each one one by one. Thanks!!

Thank you for the help. When I choose "Use Open Images" under number 1, and under number 3 "Save as PSD" and then click "Run" I get a message that open files must be saved first. Suggestions? Am I supposed to load an "Save As" Action and pick that under number 4? I have tried that to no avail....it hangs up because after I save the first photo, the second opens and I get the "Save Changes" question. If I choose to save the changes, then I can't turn the Action recording off. If I don't save changes, it closes that file. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

  • Batch Save Files - Failing

    Hello
I have scanned around 50 pages worth of images.  (in total making around 300 images)  I'm trying to batch crop and straighten then save them as a new image.  I have the crop and straighten part working.  But when I try and do a batch save via File, Scripting, Image Processing and us the following settings
When I click Run I get the following two messages
These files when cropped and straighten via Photoshop and then I tried to run the image processor.
I don't think I'm doing anything wrong.  I could save each image by hand,  but it seems like a lot of work for something that would be able to be automated.

  • Browser batch rename command question.

    PS7 - OS 10.4.11 - 1.33 Ghz PowerPC G4
I was looking at a folder of images using the browser and selected a number of them - some of these images had previously had changes made to them and then saved as JPEGs, some had not been worked at all since downloading from the camera to the HD.
Wanting to group them by title, I used the batch rename command, by Control-clicking on the selected images, to rename them in the same folder with Mac OS9 compatibility (I couldnt find a Mac OSX compatibility even though that is my system). This was the first time I have used the batch rename command, and assumed it would merely change the file name.
I then tried to open the files after this process. Those images that had previously been worked and saved as JPEGs are referred to as Document in the Finder, rather than as Adobe Photoshop JPEG. When trying to open them, I got a message:-
The document Louvre1 could not be opened. ColorSync cannot open files of this sort.
The only way I have found to view them is to use Open with Safari command.
Those images that had not been worked are referred to as Unix Executable File in the Finder. I cannot view these at all, not even with the Open with Safari command.
Any comments, please? What am I missing? I did not expect the process to so radically change the files. I can use Grab to get an image of those files that can be opened in Safari, although presumably they will not be so detailed as the originals.
And those images that cannot be opened at all, even in Safari:- Can I get them back as PS JPEGs, or in any viewable form?
    Any help gratefully received.
    Thanks,
    Graham

When you renamed the files, did you remember to include the ".jpg" extension at the end of each file name? If not, add it now.
And make sure you are running Ps 7.0.1. It's a free and mandatory update (numerous bug fixes).

    ANY HELP WOLD BE APPRECIATED

It is - came over from a Droid (was a former 3G user)... forgot how smooth and seamless the iPhone experience was. The Droid was nice, and Android is interesting, but the iPhone is so much simpler and easy. I hacked the heck out of the Droid, and it's so nice to be back on a smooth, "just works" phone.
    Anyway, thanks again.
