Batch saving

Hey there,
I need to save a picture for each layer in 2 folders, hiding at least any layer above it, naming the file by the Layers name and saving it as Windows ICO (Which I have an addon for).
If anyone could help me out with this, I'd be very grateful, because saving over 500 files isn't really practical, especially when modifing a part of the overlay and having to save everything again.

Can no one help with this?

  • Batch Saving jpg from Camera Raw PSE 6 for Mac

I'm running PSE 6 for Mac.  I'm shooting in RAW to retain all  data from sensor.  My work flow is straight forward.
Review photos on CF card and do initial throw away of bad photos.
Download from CF card to Backup drive to preserve original photos.
I upload photos to Bridge, keyword, grade, and copywrite, etc. then open in Camera Raw and process as necessary; exposure, recovery, sharpen, fill-in, crop, fill-in etc.
Select all and do a save (default is .png) to save my changes.  Since Camera Raw will not save to jpg format I open in PSE6
My workflow can change here depending on what my end product will be but usually I'll send some photos out to share which is the subject of another post.  I can't make the program resize more than one photo for email even though I have all of the photos I want to email selected in the film strip.
Anyway my process for batch saving to jpg is as follows:
Select all of the photos (I will select only those that have been cropped to the same size such as 4x6) in the film strip.
Open File > Process Multiple Files
Fill out the dialogue box (see attachment) and press OK
The next thing that happens completely negates the automated process, I get the Save As Dialogue box for every photo (see attached)
I delete the "copy" text and save
       6.  Some of the photos turn out black under preview in finder
       7.  When I try to reopen the jpg in PSE6 I get an error message (see attachment)
    Any help is appreciated.

Stop right there!  That's a very bad idea.   You should not be viewing images that are still on the card.  Download them to your local hard drive first.  Otherwise you run the risk of the software writing to the card and destroying the format.
This excerpt is from a long-gone post by author Bruce Fraser:

Opening files directly from the camera is a bad idea for a variety of reasons*, and it most certainly isn't faster than using a FireWire or USB2 card reader.
             • Drains the camera battery
             • Runs the risk of the software you're using to open the images writing to the card and destroying the format
             • Runs a small but significant risk of USB power frying the camera
             • Slowest method known to mankind of getting images off a CF or SD card

  • CS6 Batch Saving for Web

    CS 6 Version 13.0
I have got the following issue:
I did create action to save files of a folder for web. Within the action I have defined the destination folder. So far, everything works fine and the files are saved in that folder in much smaller size.
    BUT:
When I configure the automation choosing a new destination folder and renaming the files, the following occurs:
    - Files are saved in the new destination folder  OK
    - File size in new destination folder is much bigger compared to file generated by saving to destination folder defined within action !??
    Can anyone help me out?

Since File>Save for Web is an export plugin, the files are always saved to the folder path you used when recording the action.
The destination in Automate>Batch doesn't change that.
You would set the Destination to None.
You might fiind it easier to use the Image Processor Pro rather than an save for web action.

  • CS6 actions batch saving images to a clipping mask issue

    Hey all,
Been at this for quite some while now and searched the www thin for suggestion - so really hope someone can help me out here.
    Objective:
    - Target a folder with xxx .gif patterns (in the same size)
    - Setup actions to batch open each image from the folder, copy the pattern image individually over to a .PSD file that have a silhouette of the sleeve.
    - Apply the individual pattern to the clipping mask
    - Save it out as .png
    Issue:
So far ive only had the automate > batch process to save out one .png with the pattern correctly applied to the silhouette.
What I experince is that, if I close down everything and initiate automate > batch process then Photoshop will complain about not being able to locate the clipping mask.
In my action setup I first open my .psd containing my sleeve shape, then open an actual pattern image and then all other steps ending up with saving the .psd with pattern clipping mask to .png.
Just to give a simple idea about my setup take a look here:
    http://i.imgur.com/FE8mSEU.png
In this one below, ive closed everything and run the automate > batch process, which gives me the error you can see here:
    http://i.imgur.com/7Cvj26D.png
Any suggestions on what I could be doing wrong OR if I am doing anything wrong?

    Hi Mack,
Thanks a lot for your throughout response - really appreciate it!
I do acknowledge that im new to batch in Photoshop and could possibly why this is not working for me - although in not quite sure why and what I would need to make as a programmed script - would you by any chance try to give me an idea on what specific step needs to be programmed?
My actions are very few and quite simple, and seemed to fit in very nicely in how ive understood the actions feature would work - in any case of not being precise enough here's my exact steps.
    1. I open up Photoshop - No documents or anything are open at current point. I click "Record" in actions
    2. I open my sleeve_layer.PSD  file (which opens up in a tab) -> File -> Open -> PSD
    3. I open one of the pattern .gif files (which opens up in a tab) - which are all located in the same folder with the same size -> File -> Open -> .gif
    4. In my pattern tab window (from nr 3) I select all (ctrl-a) -> copy (ctrl-c)
    5. I then click over to my sleeve_layer.PSD window tab and paste (ctrl-v) my copied pattern image into a layer above my sleeve layer.
    6. I then right-click with my mouse on the pattern.gif layer -> click "Create clipping mask" (the pattern is now only shown within the sleeve layer shape)
    7. I save the work done in the .psd to web -> File -> Save for web -> .png
    8. I then close my sleeve_layer.PSD - without saving it (since I dont want to have clipping masks for each pattern stacking up from the batch)
    9. Recording ends
If I now run the batch all actions are done fine until it reaches the action with the clipping mask - where I get "The command "Create clipping mask" is not currently available" - I can see that when this error appears, im not seeing any open sleeve_layer.PSD tab - so not sure if the psd file is actually getting opened (and this might be the error for the reference error of the clipping mask to appear).
If I try to manually RUN the actions set in the actions panel, I notice though that the sleeve_layer.PSD tab is getting opened.
When running automate -> batch -> I point "source" to my folder of all patterns (only .gif files appear in this folder)
"Destination" folder is set to some other folder.

  • Batch saving layers as individual jpegs

I have searched the forums and haven't quite found what I was looking for.  I have assembled a wholel lot of scanned pages from my sketch pad into one psd file.  That file has guides which I use to register and align every page (each page is therefore its own layer).  Is there a way I can make an action and save off each individual layer as its own jpeg?  I set up an action but I don't know how to get photoshop to save it with a distinct namespace.  The first action I set up basically prompted me to re-name each layer as I saved it, which isn't really saving time.  What I want is for the action to start at the bottom layer and turn off the visiblity of all the layers above it, save the visible layer as a jpeg with a name based on  the layer and then turn on the next layer's visibitlity and repeat, until all layers have been saved.  Is that doable?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    ACC

I gave this a shot and it did create multiple files for each layer but there is a problem.
If I manually "Save for web" as jpeg at 80, my jpeg weighs about 8KB.
If I use the script to export the jpegs at "Quality" of 8, I end up with the same image at 55KB.
Thats a big difference, is there something I am not doing in order to get the same compression?
When you save for web at 80% are you saving at 100% size or are you also reducing the images pixel size?

  • Feather Error in batch saving

I am trying to save a bunch of open edited files to a new folder without having to select "save as", "folder", etc.. for each individual file, as this takes forever. My knowledge base in photoshop is still in the very early phases (I'm using CS5)
I Googled how to do it and followed the directions of : file -> action -> batch -> source(all open files) & then selected the folder I wanted to save them to. When I then go to run the command  I get: The command “Feather” is not currently available" for every photo. What am I doing wrong/how do I fix this?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Check system log and also check work process trace, to know the error.
I feel that it could be Authorization issue, you don't have sufficient authorization to do.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need help with "batch saving workflow" quicktime / automator

    Hi, my goal:
I have a lot of folders with (windows) DV-avi files I need to change container to apple mov.
The best way - I found out - to just change the container from avi to mov - without touching the video and audio stream or metadata - is:
open the file in quicktime pro 7
save as self contained movie (same filename, same location).
    wait til finished.
    open next file...
As far as I understand, the script should open and handle many files automatic, file by file - always waiting til process is finished, before starting with next file.
A probably similar thing I found is a script for batch encode..... but I need batch save , because I don't want to "touch" the source media

You don't need to go through the double export process. You can either place the edited and rendered 720p sequence in the 352x288 sequence and then export, or you can scale the image down on export in the QuickTime Conversion export module, or in Compressor. Any QuickTime can read uncompressed video.

  • Batch Saving for Web over 10,000 images to their original folder in CS6

    Hi all,
I've searched on here for the answer and I'm a bit stumped on how to do this.
I've been asked to help out a blogger who until now has accepted images to their size uncompressed of resized. We've got around the problem of the max image size by using the plugin Imsanity. Which has done a great job however what it doesn't do is resample the images for the web.
Usually if I blog myself, I always save for web but I'm having real trouble, real real trouble creating an action that will save for web to the original folders instead of a separate one.
The thing is that there are so so many images in so many different folders and subfolders these must be modified and replaced ready for reupload.
No matter what, however I approach it, I can't seem to make an action that works!

Russell Brown's Image Processor Pro extension might do it.  It has a Save for web option.  You can run it for all folders in a folder tree.  If folders are not all in one tree you might want a script to invoke image processor pro for each folder set.  See <http://russellbrown.com/> and click Scripts, or direct to <http://russellbrown.com/scripts.html>.  Scroll down to "Script: Dr. Brown’s Services 2.3.1."

  • Batch saving in bridge slows down my computer

Using PS CC 2014 and Bridge on an iMac with 8gb ram.  I open 20 or so images in camera raw, then select all and do a save as for low res web images.. The process is painfully slow (takes about 20 minutes)...then my computer is painfully slow for the next 30 minutes or so..  This only happens when I perform this function.  All other applications run fine with no slow downs.  I don't remember this happening in CS 3 bridge.  I'm running Mountain Lion and have plenty of hard drive memory.. This is most definitely a software issue.. Any suggestions would be appreciated..

The doctor told me if it hurts don't do it.  Try using Photoshop and its image processor script to see if it works any better.  Do not even open or have the bridge automatically loaded.  Remove all of Bridges overhead.

  • How to use batch mode in cq dam - new questions added

Hi I am doing DAM migration. I am using custom code to pick the image and create asset by calling Assetmanager.createAsset which creates dam assets.
This code I am calling through the scheduler which will run for every 0.5 hr. Around 1000 images we are trying to push in each cycle. I came acrosss batchMode for saving all the images per batch so that it will reduce the migration time But I am not sure how to use it.
.setBatchMode(true); isBatchMode are the methods available in Asset api.
Please share your thoughts on this.
Some more Point I want to ask.
1.What is the best appraoch when we are pushing images to DAM
Stopping the workflows push all the images and run the work flows. (Is it possible to do this?)
         Do the both simultaniously
Do it in the bath (i.e push bunch of images and then run the workflows)
2.When i am migrating images (from file system which is residing in the same box where cq is running )it is almost taking 0.5 hr for 1000 images (avg size of image is 100kb). Is there any possibility to      improve this process.
    3. When I am adding images I am adding subassets to some of the images so when ever I add subasset cq is creating new version of the asset which is not required for me. What is the best approach to avoid      creating too many versions for images in DAM. By doing this is there any performance improve in the system.
    Thanks,
    Maruthi

    Hi Jorg,
    Thank you.
I will try out batch saving option.
    I have few more doubts.
    1. Today I tried for moving aroung 5k images through the scheduler in my local machine. It went smoothly with out much issues but as usual some of the renditions are failing for some of the sub assets. This is about 3 for every 10 images. Renditions are generating properly for all assets it is failing in case of sub assets only. Along with this I am getting version exceptions. Below are errors which I am facing very frequently during migration dry run. This seems to be beacuse of the non synchronized execute methods in WF steps. What is your call on these issues how can we avoid these kind of errors.

    2. Can you share about experience in DAM migrations. What is the avg time it takes for migrating about 1 to 1.2 lac images which are aroung 60    gig. We thought of running the scheduler (this.scheduler.addPeriodicJob(jobName, job, config, period, canRunConcurrently);)for every 0.5 hr in  that case it will go on for 3 days.

  • Batch-Processing Marker Regions Problem?

I got a weird one here.
Batch-Saving Marker Regions using the marker name as the file name (which I use just about every day!) is telling me that one particular group of markers already exist at the destination folder, and prompts me to over-write. First off, there are NO files by that name in the destination folder, and second, when I tried to overwrite, it started a save operation that said it was going to take 15 minutes! And this is for a 15-second mono mp3.
I triple-checked that the proper destination folder is selected in the batch processing box.
Any idea what is going on?
    Thanks!

I figured it out. In case anyone is interested, Windows reserves certain file names because they are system files, like "COM1, COM2, etc." My client specified the file names for the project, which is why I tried to use "COMx." I guess even he didn't know.
Anyway, I just changed the file name and it worked as per usual.
