Batch scheduling of chains

Hello Experts,
I have a process chain that is scheduled to start with settings: 'start later in background' and 'option immediate'? Is this not the same as 'immediate' start?
What is the difference between the 2 ways of setting a batch job?

I'll give you one examples ,Just go thru it.
Load the data from your info structure from the OLTP system to the BW System. To do so, create an InfoPackage with the name Delta initialization for your InfoSource Xyz and source system ClntMN. Make sure that the update mode is set to Initialization of delta procedure. Schedule the InfoPackage to be loaded immediately. Use the Monitor function to monitor the data loading process.
Batch schedule:
You need to define job parameters such as start time and printer settings, and schedule the batch jobs
at this point.
If you start later in background , then you cant monitor all the functions and also cant check all the functions carried correctly or not.
This option is used when we schedule the jobs on daily basis.

Modifiying, Transporting and Scheduling Process Chain

Hello ALL,
i have to create a new process chain for a delta Load and put this process chain in a big existing Meta Chain, after i have to transport to Quality System.
if i control the difference between Dev and Quality system to have an idea i see that the Infopackages in Dev have the execution tab: Load Data Immediately without job: BI_BTCH
in Quality some Infopackages have execution tab: run successively in batch with job like this:
BI_BTCH LX6CW08S1ICM04I4O06KOPL
can you tell me please in detail how should i complete this activity:
- wich type of control should i do before creating and modifiying process chain in DEV and Quality
- how should i do to control in Quality the scheduling of a process chain
- if i modify a process chain in DEV and after i will transport in Quality what will be the affect in Scheduling, the scheduling will be the same without problem or i have to schedule again
- in generale how can i schedule a process chain, wich transaction and how in detail

Hi Bilal,
1) EVENT: When you want to have a process chain 'A' to be started after completion of a process chain 'B' or any process in process chain 'B' we can use this event. These two chains can also be from different BI systems. Like Chain 'A' could be from one production system and Chain 'B' could be from different production system. As soon as the chain A finished an event will be triggered and this event will trigger the chain B. The start time of chain B might differ because it depends on the completion of chain A. To schedule a process chain using an event, Go to Tcode: RSPC look for your chain. Switch to change mode. Right click on the start variant and select maintain variant. Click on "change selections. click on "after event," give the event name in the slot and select the periodic job.
2) RUN JOB PERIODICALLY: When you want to have the chain run for more than once periodically we select this option. Suppose, chain B has to run after completion of chain A periodically we have to use this option. If you do not check this option, your chain B will run only once when the event is triggered after completion of Chain A. From the next time onwards, it not run even the event is triggered.
3) JOB: For every process when it runs a job will be created assainging it to a work process in the system. Similarly, when the chain starts a job will be created containing the log of the run. Also, in the scheduling options of a process chain, you can have your process chain started after completion of a particular job in the system (ex: an attribute change). For this, Go to Tcode: RSPC look for your chain. Switch to change mode. Right click on the start variant and select maintain variant. Click on "change selections. click on "after job" give the job name in the slot and save the settings.
4) SCHEDULING PROCESS CHAIN: Means to make settings to a process chain so that it will run on a periodic basis at a certain time. If you want to start a chain immediately, you will choose the option immediately and trigger it. It will run for only once. But, if you want to have your chain run everyday at 7:00 am in the morning, you have to schedule it using the scheduling options as below:
In Tcode: RSPC look for your chain. Switch to change mode. Right click on the start variant and select maintain variant. Click on "change selections." Click on Date/Time button. Give the start date and time in the Scheduled Start slots. (Ex: 09-04-2009, 7:00, to have the chain run at 7:00 everyday starting from tomorrow). Tick the check box Periodic job in the bottom and click on "periodic values" button and select the option as daily and save it. Then click on "Restrictions" button to specify the factory calander. The Tcode for calander is SCAL, where you can see all the factory calanders in the system and you can choose that suits your requirement. Save the changes and navigate back to process chain maintaince screen and click on "Schedule" button.
Now your chain is automated for trigger

Financial Reporting Batch Scheduler Error - EPM 11.1.2.1

Hi,
I just downloaded, installed and configured 11.1.2.1 on a test server. Defaults were used and all products have been configured to run on the same database (SQL Server). Mostly everything seems to be working, but when I try to open up "Batch Scheduler", I get an error:
Code: 0
Description: ; nested exception is:
com.hyperion.reporting.util.HyperionReportException: ; nested exception is:
*java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: [FMWGEN][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Invalid object name 'FR_SCHEDULER_DATA'.*
I click on "OK" and I'm in the Batch Scheduler window, but then when I schedule a batch, and click on "Finish", I get a Warning "A member must be provided for the Prompt":
Code: 2021
Description: A Member must be provided for the Prompt
The scheduled batch does not show up in the Batch Scheduler window though.
Any ideas on how I would go about rectifying this error?

I just realized that I was connecting to an instance of SQL Server running 2000. Redid the deployment against SQL Server 2008 and everything's working fine now.

I have recently installed Hyperion 11.1.2.2(Foundation Services and Interactive Reporting) in our environment.
The installation and configuration are successful. Also when I ran a sample BQY it works fine.
If I try to run the sample programs on the Hyperion server in their actual location, they work fine.
I am having problem setting up the SDK remotely and run the sample program.
I am getting the following error when trying to run the sample Login.java provided in /EPMSystem11R1/products/biplus/SDK/samples/java/
Unable to setup SDK for Hyperion 11.1.2.2 remotely

Access the Hyperion database BI+ repository. In table FR_SCHEDULER_DATA update the row with Column STATE='4' from a '4' value to value '3'

Batch Scheduler in HFM

We have been trying to use the batch scheduler in HFM and have not yet had any luck on having the reports emailed out automatically. It looks like the reports in the batch are running ok but they aren't going to anyone in the specified distribution list. I'm not sure where to start to see if we have everything set up to use this feature. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not sure. Unfortunately I'm not too familar with the IT side of it. This is definitely something that I can have our IT people look into. Do you have any advise on what I can tell them to look for? HFM is new to us and we don't have too many IT people that are knowledgeable about the system. I've tried to look for instructions on how this should be setup but haven't had much luck.

Batch Scheduler doesn't print

Hi, I am using Batch Scheduler for Hyperion Reports. Whenever, I select the "Print" option I don't get any output on the network printer. I can see the printer in the drop down menu. I have unistalled and installed the network printer several times on the server where reports is installed. I do not even get any error message. In fact I get a message "Successfully sent to the printer". Any ideas? -Hank

I think I've discovered my problem, I had a security password set. I wanted to keep my form from being altered - but this won't let it print. I'd like to make the forms unalterable, but still printable, if anyone knows how.

Have your process chain to start "After event". Then create an ABAP program to call function module BP_EVENT_RAISE. There are numerous postings in this forum on how to do this.
Next create two monthly jobs (one scheduled on the 1st and the other on the 28th) using SM36, and the only step in the job is to call the program to trigger (raise) the event. By triggering the event, your process chain will execute.

CC&B V2.2 Base Batch Scheduler

I am looking at the base batch scheduler and need to know how this interacts, if at all with the new lightweight batch.
Can someone confirm the following about the base batch scheduler.
1. This scheduler does not use the lightweight batch as it is based on the 1.5 platform.
2. All batch jobs use the full framework jvms and therefore start up times for the batch jobs take more time.
3. It cannot submit multiple batch streams at once.
If you have 2 or more independent batch streams and want to run them at the same time, you cannot do this.
4. You cannot run batch jobs on different servers.

What we like to do is use the new CLUSTERED facility using the supplied base batch scheduler.
We intend to use 2 servers for batch processing
To do this we have to run the threadpoolworker.sh on both servers.
The documentation states in the "Online Batch Daemon" section that there 2 configurations
a) that one server can be configured as both Batch Scheduler Daemon and Batch Server Enabled
this allow both the submission and execution of batch in the same application
b) two servers may be configured one as batch Schedule Daemon and one as Batch Server Enabled
This does not provide a mechanism to use bot servers for batch execution.
Under this configuration this does not support CLUSTERED mode.
Under this situation only 1 server executes the batch programs.
Under the section "External Scheduler Submission"
The thredpoolworker.sh utility section states
A worker JVM may also host a scheduler daemon, which, if activated inside a worker, will poll for job submission requests from the web application
that were done via the Batch Job Submission transaction.
This seems to imply that you can:
a) have a batch environment that does not have the Online batch daemon or the Batch Server Enabled and have
b) configure 1 threadpoolworker on server 1 with a scheduler daemon configured
c) have another threadpoolworker on server 2 but no scheduler daemon configured.
Can you confirm this or advise how we can configure CC&B with the base batch scheduler to use the CLUSTERED processing on 2 servers.

UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION with msg CX_RSR_X_MESSAG while scheduling Process chain

We are facing a short dump while scheduling process chains, as follows:
 
Runtime Errors UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
Exception CX_RSR_X_MESSAGE
 
Error analysis
 An exception occurred which is explained in detail below.
 The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_RSR_X_MESSAGE', was not caught
 and
 therefore caused a runtime error.
 The reason for the exception is:
 No text available for this exception
 
Information on where terminated
 Termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLRRMS" - in "RRMS_X_MESSAGE".
 The main program was "RSPC_MAINTAIN_SINGLE ".
 In the source code you have the termination point in line 82
 of the (Include) program "LRRMSU13".
 
We tried to schedule it as a remote process chain from some other system it cancelled the job there with an ERROR_MESSAGE. We checked the RFC Connections at the source system side but it is working properly. We then tried to schedule the chain manually, we had this exception. Then we tried to have a look at previous logs of the process chain. It had this exception. We tried to reactivate the chain it was successful but when tried to schedule the chain same issue again. We tried to run the Meta chains under the same chain separately. They too gave us the same exception.
Please help.

What's your SP? Are you having any master data updates left unattended? Check the Master data objects, check the flows. Related SAP Notes : 914304 / Check 967202(SP10) and 998673(SP11), 1157796, 763203 and 615389

STOP and SCHEDULE process chains

i have an already scheduled procces chain (a group actualy... it's a process chain with 2 processes inside) that i want to stop. How do i stop it or remove it from schedule?
then i want to schedule an other one. in this new one i want to put 2 processes inside. how do i do that?
i've serched in rspc transaction, but i'm not sure of what steps to make and i don't wwant to make any mistake

Kindly Follow the below steps:-
1) Go To RSPC
2) Go to the particular Chain which you want to Deschedule
3) Click on the Start Variant of your chain and check the Menu Bar , there will be one menu as "EXECUTION"
Inside that dr will be option"REMOVE FROM SCHEDULE"
4) This will remove from Schedule.
5) For scheduling again You have to go to Start Variant again -> rt Click-> Display Variant.
6) Give the Timings when YOu want to schedule and save .After that Click on Schedule in the same menu "EXECUTION"

Batch Scheduler

Hi ,
I am trying to schedule a custom Java batch program using CCB Batch scheduler .
As I tried , I did not have any event activation alorithm to specify in WokFlow Event Type .
So I am creating an alorithm first . While doing this , Ain lgorithm Type Section , I selected WorkFlow Even Activation . In that , I am not getting the Batch Program Name in the lookup. I have closed eclipse , and restarted server also . So can anybody tell me how to setup a custom Java Batch Program . Please mention as much as detailed explanation you could .

Batch Scheduler - why it is not in menu?

Im using EPM Workspace 11.1.3 Fusion Edition. My user has Scheduler role assigned, but in my Navigator-> Schedule menu there is no Batch Scheduler option!
I've tried changing user roles, creating new users, restarting server but with no effect. Why is this happening? Is it a matter of some configuration or service?

Export Workspace Batch Scheduler

Hi,
I was wondering if there is anyway to export the log information from the Workspace Batch Scheduler. I know you can export batches for command line scheduling, but I'm wondering if there was a way to export the actual information from the batch scheduler itself. Basically a log file of all of the batches, when they were run, what time did they start, what time did they end, etc. Anyone know if this is possible?

Look for a table called FR_SCHEDULER_DATA. It has a column called XML (BLOB) which stores all the information about time, what members were bursted,....
