Batch synchronize metadata between jpg & tif versions of same file

I have a large number of jpg files with added metadata saved (keywords, caption etc). I also have the same files in tif format. The file names are identical, except for the jpg or tif extension. I wish to copy the jpg metadata to the (largely blank) tif metadata as a batch. I realise I can do it file by file but there are hundreds of files. Is there a way to do this as a batch, ie file1.jpg to file1.tif, file2.jpg to file2.tif etc as one operation?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to do as you ask in Lightroom.

How are you trying to import them (again) ? If you're importing through the Import Window and have RAW only set then that's all you'll get.
Also what's an Import Folder? Not sure how Lightroom fits into this. If you share your workflow with us we might be able to help.

now i use windows7 with my psc2210 and the only profile i can choose is BMP TIF JPG or PNG

Hi - I'd recommend running the print diagnostic utility for starters. It should help isolate the problem and hopefully resolve it automatically. At the very least, it is a good starting point.

Want to transfer metadata between batches of image files

I'm starting a large project to scan and annotate my family's large photo collection. I want to be able to scan the photos at very high resolution, then send lower resolution copies of the photos to my parents, who live in another state, to annotate. To accomplish this, I've been wondering whether each of us working in Lightroom would be the best approach. My question is about how to transfer the metadata additions my parents have made on the lower resolution copies of the image files back into the high-resolution files I planned to keep on my computer for now. I've thought about putting all photos in a file hierarchy, assigning file names when I scan the photos, and sending various subsets of the file tree to my parents to annotate. Once they were done annotating a group of image files, I would try to merge the metadata from that group of files back into my corresponding high-resolution files.
There are thousands of photos, so I'd like to send batches of photos to them to annotate and receive batches back with metadata to merge into my files. Each annotated file potentially has metadata unique to that file and needs to be matched up with it's correspoinding high-resolution file.
I'm very new to the Adobe applications which would seem to be candidates for this type of work (Lightroom, Bridge, Elements). I see some potential solutions but don't know what's going to turn out best. Can anyone help steer me in the right direction ? At this point, I'm very open to any options. I'm also a professional software developer and could write code, if necessary, but I only want to go down that road if I really have to.

Do you parents have Lightroom? If yes, then it's simple:
export a subset as catalog with previews and without originals,
send to parents,
have them open the catalog and annotate,
receive catalog from parents,
import into your main catalog.
If no, I'm thinking of this workaround:
Select a subset, Save Metadata (that's important!) and export with originals to a intermediate catalog,
Go to your intermediate catalog folder, find the exported originals and batch-downsample them for sending.
Send downsampled files to parents.
Have them annotate the files with some proper utility that uses proper IPTC or XMP fileds (not some proprietary metadata). The free ExifTool GUI might work well.
Receive the files and write over downsampled files from intermediate catalog. Now the files have annotations.
Open intermediate catalog and Read Metadata. Now the intermediate catalog has annotations.
Open main catalog and import the intermediate catalog. Now the main catalog has the annotations.
In both cases, make sure you don't touch the current subset before your parents return the files, otherwise the subsequent importing will overwrite the work you might have done on the same files.

I suggest you take a little time to watch some tutorials. If you are that new to Lightroom that you don't understand what export means then it would probably be a good idea for you to get some other information as well. If you don't I think you'll find Lightroom can be very confusing. You haven't indicated what version of Lightroom you are using. The link I'm providing you is a series of getting started videos for Lightroom 5. And just about everything in this series will apply to other versions. You will note that there is one video devoted exclusively to exporting images. But I think you really need to watch the whole series.

Best approach to synchronize data between two oracle database remotely

Hi All,
We have requirement to synchronize data between custom application database and EBS database. Thw two database is on different location connected by 128 kbps connection.
The synchronization will do the following task :
- Download customer table from EBS (I have checked there are only 2000 rows of it)
- Up load billing data to EBS auto invoice interface table
The question is :
What approach is the best way to do this synchronization task ? some that come into my mind :
- create database link and run stored procedure to do the batch update ?
- for Customer synchronization, is it a good idea to create Materialized view so that any update to EBS customer data will be updated, refreshed nightly
- or is ther any better approach ?

Password synchronization problem between sun DS and ADS

My problem is i want to synchronize between two sun one DS and one AD , but it is ignoring the one DS in Sync , anothe DS and AD is Synchronizing. Hi Joshua,
Does this mean that I need to install the core and sub component but no need to install the DS and AD connectors. No!!! Core must only be installed on one machine! Here is a short summary of the steps during an installation having sun ONE LDAPs in multi-master replication (taking ldap2 as the machine, whrere core is installed):
1. Install core on ldap2
2. start console and configure your directory sources. For the sun directory source enter ldap2 as the preferred and ldap1 as the secondary ldap. Configure the rest: attribute-mapping, modification flow, AD-source, SULs, etc. save the configuration.
3. on ldap2 run idsync prepds untill you get the SUCCESS message in the following way (be sure to specify the secondary ldap with -j and -r options):
idsync prepds -h <ldap2> -p <ldap2port> -j <ldap1> -r <ldap1port> -D "cn=directory manager" -w <passwort> -s <configuration_registry_suffix>4. Run the install binaries again on ldap2. Install DS Connector on ldap2, install DS-Subcomponent (preferred) on ldap2. Install AD-Connector.
5. Copy over install binaries to ldap1. Run the install binaries on ldap1. Give ldap2 as configuration directory URL When you are asked, what components to install, select subcomponent. Select the suffix. When you are asked, what type of ldap, select secondary.
6. Copy over install binaries to any ldap slave in your replication topology and install the subcomponent there, choosing "other" as the ldap type.

In Bridge- Edited CR2 Files(JPG/TIF) Are Not Lining Up next to CR2 File

I had this problem once before and the forum got it fixed. I now cannot find that "discussion"
After editing a file in Bridge and saving in Bridge as a TIF or JPG, When it places the file back in Bridge it appears not next to the CR2 file but at the end of the folder. You may notice that all is correct in the images above the outlined problem.

HELP!! Don't Know why images are blurred. They were sized for web and no bigger than allowed size.

All machines in question work fine with these settings: View>Sort>Ascending Order> Manually

    If I delete the E, I make the PO become a standard PO, what is difference between standard PO and the PO including E?

Mismatch between the patch version

Version 2.18, next step, next issue. Got through the 'Do Setup' step on "9-Apply DBA CUP and related patches" with a bug workaround that was provided. Now went to the next step of 'Do Execute' and it is failing with the message below. I've done some inital searching and haven't found an answer. There was one note on MOS about a very similar issue but it was resolved in 2.16. Posting here whild I spend more time researching and trying to figure out the reason. I also reviewed my notes from when I did this upgrade manually and these mereged patches were not applied in preinstall mode as the message is saying has to be done. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks!.

"Batch Synchronization" in Parallel Model

Hi,
I'm working on a project with up to 15 UUTs which are supposed to be running using the parallel model, since they have to be able to start and stop separately.
There are conditions in which all active UUTs are paused and restarted upon request. Communication with the UUTs is established using a single demon. Now I need a synchronization method, to make sure only one thread runs the daemons initialization. Just like a batch synchronization using the "One Thread Only" option.
The Batch steps do not work in the Parallel Model so is there a best practice establish a synchronization like this? I have some ideas, but I guess I'm thinking too complicated and can't see the wood for trees....

This is so called automatic replication during data loading. It means whenever there is a data request, automatic synchronization of the metadata in BI with the metadata in the source system takes place. DataSource is automatically replicated from BW upon each data request u2013 that is, if the DataSource has changed in the source system.
This function ensures that requests are not refused in the source system because of the default time stamp comparison even though the DataSource has not really changed.

Can I install the FF 4 Beta and the FF 3.6 versions on same computer without interaction between them?

I do not want to delete the version I am using now because I know most of the web tool apps I have will be disabled. Been there; done that too many times.
Was hoping I could try the latest FF 4 without it messing up everything by installing in a different folder or will it pick up the FF 3.6 Profile, Add-ons, etc. and maybe even re-write the Registry keys for version I want to keep functioning?

There aren't interactions between different Firefox versions as long as you make sure to have a separate profile and shortcut for each version and keep an eye on the current default browser and set the default profile via the profile manager once to the correct profile. The portable version is only easier for inexperienced users, but once you understand how things work then normal versions work flawlessly.
