Batching Bridge Collections in PS CS5?

Hi, gang.  As the title says, will PS's Batch option allow me to process Bridge collections or are Bridge collections just for Bridge?  (I'm trying to get about 1800 files that are spread over multiple local folders into one Web-sized folder for uploading to a commercial site.)
Thanks,
Greg

Just select all images in the collection, and run Tools > Photoshop > Batch. Don't ignore Image Processor -- if you're having problems with batching this script can be much easier to use, is more careful about trashing your originals, etc.

  • CS6 and Bridge Collections

    Are you telling me Adobe didn't enable you to migrate Bridge CS5 Design Standard "Collection" into Bridge CS6 Design Standards!!!!!!! What the heck are the use of Bridge Collections if you lose them every time you upgrade? What kind of useless feature is that? C'mon Adobe, get with it.

    Hello! It would be nice to have a migration script in Bridge too...
    In the past, there were folders you could copy, but given the database changes, I'm not sure, I need to check first with the team.
    On a Mac, it is in the collections folders in ~Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/Bridge CS5/Collections/
    PC(XP): C:Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS5\collections
    VIsta/7: user/app data/roaming/Adobe/Bridge CS5/Collections
    Hope this helps

  • Bridge stuck in Photoshop CS5.1 After doing CS6 Upgrade

    I upgraded from Photoshop CS5.1 to CS6 and Bridge still opens in CS5. How do I correct this. I have a Macbook Pro.
    Thanks

    Thanks. I just checked and that's not it. I see quite a few people have had to deal with this but I have not seen one solution that everyone says works.

  • Losing manual sort in Bridge collections

    I installed the latest version of Bridge CC and created several collections. Each collection contains between 10 and 60 images which are all taken from the same Windows directory. The directory contains less than 300 image files. I did this in two sessions. In the first, I created 3 collections and in the second, I created 5 more. Each collection was manually sorted after all the images were added. No additional images were added after the manual sort.
    After restarting Windows and opening Bridge CC again, some collections were still manually sorted and some were sorted by filename. All the collections are still showing as manual sort. Can't figure out why some are OK but others are in filename order even though it shows manual sort.
    I'm running on Window 8 Pro and have InDesign installed as well. Bridge is not set to start at login.
    Now, the only thing I can think of is that when I updated InDesign in Adobe CC this morning, that something may have affected Bridge. But then I would have expected all the collections to revert to filename order and not just some.
    Is there a secret to keeping the manual sort in Bridge collections intact? It's not much use to me if it won't. I sort images in the order I want to insert them in book pages.
    I checked other threads on this subject but it doesn't look like anything was resolved.
    Thanks

    DUUUUUUUDE! IT'S WORKING NOW!!!!
    When you originally asked, "What happens if you click on an image and move it to another folder?", I didn't really understand what you were talking about because I almost never have my workspace set up in a way that the folders are showing. I always hide them. So I didn't really understand what you were saying. Just a few minutes ago, I realized that that is what you were asking so I opened up the folder area and tried dragging thumbs into different folders and saw that it does work.
    So then, because of you mentioning that blue line and me know that I did see the blue line on occasion. I went back over into the thumbnails to find out if I always got the blue line or if it was a hit or miss thing. I couldn't believe my eyes when all of the sudden I saw that I no longer was getting that circle with the line through it, and low and behold, the thumbnail dropped right into position like it is supposed to!!!!
    The thing is, I don't know what I've learned from this. I thought, "well, what is different?" The only thing that I can think of is that I now have the folders showing in my workspace so I wondered if that was the secret but I just now hid the folders again like I usually do and the drag and drop into position is STILL WORKING!!!
    All I can figure is that somehow, dragging and dropping a thumbnail into a folder like that for the first time, triggered something so that I can now drag and drop among the thumbnail positions? Not sure. All I know is that for some reason, IT'S WORKING NOW!
    Now, for the second important part, I wonder if I drag and drop everything into the order that I want and then select all of the files and drag them into a new folder, will they stay in that order? I need to go experiment with that.
    If you hadn't kept at it and in turn had me keep trying stuff, it would have never happened because I had pretty much given up.
    Thanks Curt!
    You da man!!!

  • Bridge stops working in CS5

    Bridge seems to hang when I try to delete files and when I try to change work spaces. Can I reinstall Bridge independently of Photoshop CS5?

    I used to say 20% but some thought that was overkill.  So thanks for the reinforcement.
    I still think that is overkill...
    And what I hate the most about it that it is percentages, having old disks with 250 or even 500 GB I can imagine 50 GB  (my rule is 10 %) might bring you in trouble. Yet current HD have 1 to 2 TB (more coming fast) 10 % free space is almost as much as my total disk size of 6 to 7 years back.
    Yet with less then 200 GB free space on a 2 TB HD soon the performance starts to decrease (and I also have a separate 150 GB WD Velociraptor almost totally dedicated as Scratch Disk for PS). There might be a perfect technical explanation for this (please let me know if you do have the facts!) but the logic is far behind.
    The need of 20 or even 30 % free space also means a quarter of inefficiency. To me that means also 25 % useless spend money, 25 % less space you thought you had when it came out of the box and as said, if somebody can explain the logic of all this I would be very glad to hear it!

  • Will a CS6 Master Collection upgrade for CS5.5 upgrade CS5 as well?

    Basically, I want to upgrade my CS5 Master Collection using a CS5.5 to CS6 upgrade package. Can it be done or does Adobe differentiate between 5.0 and 5.5 upgrades?

    YEs, CS5.5 is a separate, different version. If your CS6 serial os specifically tied to CS5.5 it may not work. Generally, though, this could work. Anyway, if you have specific questions contact sales support.

  • Is it possible to share Bridge "Collections"

    Is there a way to share a set of Bridge "Collections" among a group of networked computers? Our image files are on a network attached storage devise (a NAS -- essentially a hard drive accessible on the network), and I want every workstation to be able to  access -- and to change -- the same collections. To the best of my knowledge, the collections are saved in .filelist files on whichever computer was used to creat them. I'd like to store the Collection files (the .filelist files, I assume) on network hard drive, too.

    Information on how Bridge works networks is rather fuzzy.  Here is the current thinking on sharing collections between different computers.

  • Why can't I do batch actions from CS4 or CS5 Bridge now when I could before?

    Something has changed in my functions for doing batch actions in Bridge.  In CS5 Bridge I try to do a simple batch action of saving a DNG file as a jpg and closing the file.  When I attempt this I get a message saying 'The command "Save" is currently not available.
    I try to do the same thing in CS4 Bridge.  I go to the Tools menu and look for Photoshop in the drop down menu but it's not there.  This is how I do batch action processing with my Windows version of CS4 Bridge.  I am confused about what has changed when I was able to do batch actions routinely in CS4 and CS5 Bridge on my Mac.

    Something has changed in my functions for doing batch actions in Bridge.  In CS5 Bridge I try to do a simple batch action of saving a DNG file as a jpg and closing the file.  When I attempt this I get a message saying 'The command "Save" is currently not available.
    Batch using tools menu from Bridge to reach Photoshop should work as expected in both CS4 and CS5. If not then there is something wrong on either your system or install.
    Go to Bridge CS5 preference and look for the section Start Up Scripts and see if there is still a Start Up Script for Photoshop CS5 present and with a checkmark in front for activation. If not try first to restart bridge holding down option key and choose refresh preferences. This should retrieve the original Start Up scripts again.
    If your command save as is not available check the action and see what the save path for that acton is. If it is a copied action from an other system changes are that it still contains the save path for the old drive and if the script can't find it it provides a warning message.
    Also check if the drive you save to has both read and write permission.

  • Sharing a Bridge Collections in CS5

    Hello,
    I did see an earlier post also asking about this, but the link to what would be a workaround is for an older version.
    If I create a collection based on a search on a network and I want to share that collection with the other computers in my group, so that they keep populating in their collection, is there anyway to do this. Seems like this would be an important part of this feature?
    Does every computer in my group have to create the collection using the same search criteria themselves?
    thanks!

    I'm not sure what you mean by "so they keep populating in their collection."
    A collection is an XMP file with a file name of "CollectionName.filelist".
    It is located in ~Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/Bridge CS5/Collections/.
    You can move these files from one computer to another. You can make the process easier by making an alias to the Collections folder on each system.
    The file struction is quite simple - it is XMP, NOT a database file.  The "Volumes" or drives can be any mounted drive on the Mac - a local drive or a network drive. In this example, Drive1 is local, and RAID_HD is on an XServe.  It's basically a path to the file. (The %20 is a space character.)
    TestCollection.filelist
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='yes' ?>
    <arbitrary_collection version='1'>

    </arbitrary_collection>
    Hope that helps.
    If you're trying to get fancy and make a "hot folder" to auto-update Collections on other computers over the network, I haven' tried it.

  • Adobe bridge collections

    my internal drive has insufficient space for all my collection folders under favorites. is it possible to have all my collection folders on an external drive and if so how do I do this ?
    mac mini 2ghz dual core ,120gb hard drive leopard, 1 gb ram

    Could you provide more details about OS and system version and exact CS5 version numbers.
    Are you using different disks (internal, external) or a network set up or do all the files reside on the same disk.
    Sometimes read and write permissions change for what ever reason and this can also cause problems for Bridge.
    But asside from that Bridge is not very good in acting as Digital Asset Management for archive purposes and collections can be very useful but to my opinion only for a short period and not when you need to rely on them for a long time. If you need to use this for a longer periode I woudl suggest to also add the name of the collection as a keyword. In that way you have a good escape to find choices back.

  • Bridge Collection file / folder name single quote bug fix?

    Just starting using Bridge CS5 on WIndows 7.  Fresh install of OS and CS5.  Latest patches applied (4.0.5.11).
    After laboriously selecting 60+ files and creating a colelction, the collection showed zero items.
    I recreated the collection multiple times but same result.  This was supremely frustrating and a huge time waster for me (and I'm sure for others).
    Completely repeatable.
    Tracked this down to one of my folders having a single quote in its name.  This problem was documented back in 2010:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2936294
    I edited the collection file in notepad and replaced the single quote with %27.  Worked fine.
    But manually editting the collection file everytime I make a change to the collection or renaming my folder hierachry are not viable workarounds.
    Does anybody know if a fix was ever released for this?  What is Adobe's response to this?
    It apparently is a regression (i.e. it was fixed in a pevious verision and now is back).
    This is a programming 101 bug (i.e. escaping special characters in file names).
    This type of programing error is a real showstopper and really inexcuable, especially for how long it has been out there.
    Jeff

    Thanks for posting this problem on the photoshop feedback page.
    It's clear many of us have tripped on this issue and that it is time Adobe fixed this problem.
    To hedge our collective bets, I also filed a "bug report" using this web page:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
    It interesting to note that I did not find a bug report form for Bridge - the site just offers a redirect to the general feedback form on Photoshop.  But there was a bug report form for Premier Pro (a program they obviously care more about).  So I filed this issue as an official bug against Premier Pro thinking it may get greater visiability.  What follows is what I submitted.  If I hear back from the development team I'll let this thread know.
    Jeff
    ******BUG******
    File names / folders with single quotes (e.g., Jeff's Photos) are not properly escaped in the collection xml file created by Bridge which is used to manage assets in Photoshop, Premier Pro, etc. The single quote, which is a valid filename symbol in Windows, should be converted to %27 in the xml file but is left "as is" which prematurely terminates filename / folder strings.  The net effect varies based on the operation being performed, but it is typically a silent error (i.e. the user is given no warning anything is wrong) and can result in catastrophic loss of critical assets.
    It is simple to repro: just create a folder with a single quote in the name, populate it with content files, and create a collection.  The next time you use it, the collection shows up as 0 entries.
    The bug (which appears to be a regression) results in many users losing critical asset files and wasting huge amounts of time debugging this issue which was reported almost a year ago.  The forums have many threads on this problem - see my recent entry for an example:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4112499#4112499
    The bug is a trap that directly erodes customer confidence and satisfaction with Adobe's whole product line.  Bridge is billed as hub that is supposed to tie all products together - but it cannot be trusted.  Critical assets and time are lost.  This is trivial bug to fix and many customers are outraged that Adobe has done nothing to fix it or warn users about it - especially since this is in your professional line of products that cost over a thousand dollars.  Please escalate this fix immediately.
    As a courtesy, please let me know this bug report was escalated and an ETA when a fix may become available.
    Thank you

  • I need to find my bridge collection user files,

    I have backed up my image files to an external drive.  I use Bridge to view and sort images that came with Photoshop CS5.0 i have built some collections and would like these to move with the images on to to my back up drive so i can acess them from both my MacBook and my iMac, both are 10.7.3 mid 2007 machines. the images appear along with and labels (colours and stars) but collections do not!

    /User/YourUserName/Library(which is hidden but can be gotten to by holding down the option key while clicking Go in the menu bar)/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge CS5/Collections. Copy whatever folders and files are in that Collections folder to the same location on your other Mac.

  • "Batch" Command Unavailable in Photoshop CS5

    We recently upgraded to CS5 Design Premium from CS3 and one of our users reports that the Batch is grayed out in the Photoshop Automate menu. We've checked that the startup scripts in Bridge are enabled. If we choose Photoshop --> Batch in Bridge, Photoshop launches and comes up with an error dialog The command "Batch" is not currently available. I can find no reference to this error in the Adobe docvumentation or the Knowledgebase and nothing in the posts I've been able to find on the subject has helped. I'd appreciate any ideas.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ray.

    Can't say I've seen the problem before.
    Tossing this one in from way out in left field, just a remote possibility...
    Has the user with the problem by any chance set his/her Edit - Preferences - Plug-ins... - [ ] Additional Plug-ins Folder to a location containing plug-ins from the old version of Photoshop?

  • Can I search within an Adobe Bridge collection?

    I just created a manual collection in Bridge of various photos which live in various folders and subfolders. I would like to then search within this collection to find photos of a specific person. Is this possible? I am using CS5 on a mac.

    If you want to search for something in the filenames in a collection the following script will do it...
    #target bridge
       if( BridgeTalk.appName == "bridge" ) {
    collectionFind = MenuElement.create("command", "Find in Collection", "at the end of Thumbnail");
    collectionFind.onSelect = function () {
       findInCollections();
    function findInCollections(){
    var cols =app.getCollections();
    if(!cols.length) {
        alert("There are no Collections to search!");
        return;
    var win = new Window('dialog',"Collections");
    win.orientation = "column";
    win.pnl1 = win.add('panel', undefined, undefined, {borderStyle:"black"});
    win.g1 = win.pnl1.add('group');
    win.title = win.g1.add('statictext',undefined,'Find in Collection');
    win.title.alignment="fill";
    var g = win.title.graphics;
    g.font = ScriptUI.newFont("Georgia","BOLDITALIC",22);
    win.g5 = win.pnl1.add('group');
    win.g5.orientation = "row";
    win.g5.alignment="left";
    win.g5.st1 = win.g5.add('statictext',undefined,'Select Collection...');
    win.g5.dd1 = win.g5.add('dropdownlist');
    for(var a in cols) { win.g5.dd1.add('item', cols[a].name);}
    win.g5.dd1.selection=0;

    if(!newCollection.length){

  • Adobe Bridge Collections (CC features?)

    I have the habit of using collections extensivly to organize projects. But I am always missing two main functionalities:
    The ability to automatically SEARCH for a missing file that have been moved outside of bridge
    Possibillity of NESTING collections would be very handy so one can for example a main project collection with nested collections for assets etc.
    I am currently using CS6. Are any of these feaures present in CC? If not, consider this suggestions for improvements, if any adobe people read this.
    LR users: Do LR have significantly better support for this type of organization features? Please let me know, I dont have LR.
    Thanks!

    I'm having an issue with Bridge CC were I setup a smart collection to monitor my new photos.
    You might want to describe this workflow a bit more. Do you create this from an existing folder or are you adding new photo's?
    A Smart Collection does not refreshes it self automatically. You either have to use the edit icon top right of the content panel to save again or deselect and select the collection itself to let it refresh the content.
