Bates Numbering Error Message

I am trying to Bates number a large pdf file using Adobe Acrobat Professional 9, but I get the following error message:
"an error was encountered while retrieving page content." Has anyone else encountered this message? Is there a limit to the number of pages in a pdf that Adobe Professional 9 will number?

I have the exact problem. Oddly, if you print the document and rescan, it will take the bates numbers. I think it has something to do with "newer" pdfs (i.e., created with a newer version of adobe). However, I have had no luck fixing it. Would love a suggestion!!
BTW - there is no page limit for numbering. That is definitely not the problem.

I am having trouble bates stamping. I am working with 4300 files. When I select "replace file name with starting and ending bates number" option I get an error when I complete the process that says "The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder".

I am getting an error message that i "need a newer version of Numbers to open this document" message when i try to open a file i created with the newest version of Numbers that i downloaded a few months back. anyone know a fix?

App icons are seldom changed as an application goes through various versions. The assumptionis that you will have only on version installed at any given time. If you do need to keep and run two versions, place the icon attached to the most often one on the Dock, and start the other from the Finder when you need it.

Clearing/downdating stock (with batch numbers) error messages

Hi,
We are trying to clear down some stocks with batch numbers and have tried MB1A LT01/LT10. However, we get the following error messages (all individual);
Deficit of BA Unrestricted-use (Deficit of BA Unrestricted-use 56.855 KG : 4589 BP01 0088 0000199415)
Storage unit 4000289374 is not consistent with other transfer order data
Showing zero for stock & cannot clear transfer order
How can we clear the stocks please?

Deficit of BA Unrestricted-use is a pure MM message.
It just tells you that you have no stock of the mentioned batch 0000199415 of material 4589 in plant BP01 at storage location 0088.
check in MMBE where or in what status your stock of this batch is, then change the fields in MB1A accordingly.

How to turn on line-numbered error messages in ASC file?

How can I turn on error reporting that tells me exactly on what line of my .asc file an error or warning has occurred?
I need this in order to debug why my fmscore is constantly segfaulting, presumably caused by my .asc file.
I know the .asc is causing the crash because when I removed a section of it, the crash suddenly stopped - but I can't figure out why it would crash at all, and it does so at unpredictable intervals, sometimes every few hours, sometimes every single time, ...

use the Flash Media Server Adminitration Console, in button "live log" are shown the lines of errors.

Numbers error message: the spreadsheet contains more formula than are supported

always using spreadsheets and taught the ipad would make things easier but it just threw up a new set of problems.
What specifically causes this problem to occur, are there formula to be avoided or is it the amount of formula held in a file?
What can i do to avoid this?
Any way around it when it happens?
Any help or insight would be very much appreciated

MACOS error message 103

I'm getting a MACOS error message 103 after working on a file, then attempting to open it again. It won't open as it says it 'couldn't load it from disk. Is there another way to open this file?
It's a Digital Performer file, but it seems the problem is on the Mac end?

What to do if Add Header/Footer tool and Bates Numbering tool both get error message? File too big?

Hello,
I'm working with a 700 page / 103 Mo PDF that I need to put page numbers on. Both the Header/Footer tool and the Bates numbering tool result in error messages.
'An error occurred while retrieving the contents of the page.'
I suspect this is because the PDF was made by assembling 30 smaller PDFs via Preview and never down-sized during the process. I would imagine that would create a kind of clunky file. Or maybe it's simply the size that is overloading the software.
Does anyone have any advice on a fix or a workaround for this? I need to put page numbers on. I really want to put them on the composite PDF (going back to the 30 original PDFs would be a real headache for a lot of reasons.)

Hi Eliza,
Your suspicion is right. It might be possible that assembling different pdf's together created from different applications might be the issue.
Try printing the pdf to Adobe pdf printer and then try adding the page numbers and check.

I can no longer access a password protected Numbers file with the correct password. Error message only says the file "cannot be opened."

I'm using Numbers version 3.2.2.
Suddenly I cannot access my password protected Numbers file with the correct password. I have the correct password written down so I know I haven't made a mistake.
The response box that pops up says that the file cannot be opened. There are no other options for me to choose from.

Also, I tried to open it through an older version of Numbers but it sent this error message.

I have been creating a document in numbers on my iPhone and synced to iCloud. Now I cannot open it, and when trying to download via browser I get an error message. How can I recover this document?

I have created a document on my iPhone, and stored it on iCloud. I have updated the document both on my iPhone and on my iPad. Now, I cannot open the document on my iPhone anymore, even a reset of the phone did not help. Via iPad I also cannot open the file, and when I try to download it to my PC via icloud.com I get an error message.I suspect that the file has become corrupt as I have updated it on the iPhone while I did not have network connectivity.
I have two questions:
1.) Is it possible to recover an earlier version of the file?
2.) What can I do to prevent this from happening again in the future?
3.) Does the iPhone sync changes to iCloud in the background or does the application need to be active?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
I have seen previous versions mentioned in a pop up message before on iCloud.com, but I'm not really sure at all how it would help, as I couldn't get it to do anything.
The best advice I have at this time is to back up your work on your iOS device by regularly saving it to iTunes, if anything goes wrong you can then either load it into the numbers app again on the device or recover it via iTunes on your computer.
My syncs are immediate, I never get chance to see if it works in the background, sorry.

I've tried to delete iWork & reload it, but still get the same message and can't open numbers. I've run disc utility (verify & repair disc and permissions).

iWork '09 is $19 on Amazon. I would jump on that option. You won't miss iWork'08.

If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:

Numbers 3.x can only open Numbers '09 and later. You will need Numbers '09 to open Numbers '08 files.
If it is a single file (or only a few) you can email me and I will open and convert then email back. My email address is in the "Biography" of my profile.
You may have Numbers '09 installed. Look in the folder "/Applications/iWork '09" if Numbers is in that folder launch it, open the file you tried to open, and save. Then you should be able to open in Numbers 3.x

Error message when reinstall numbers '09 from apps store

Asking for a client.
I printed the error message which came from the system when trying to open.
Client had deleted his previous version of numbers '09 from launchpad instead of his '08 version.
Now reinstalled.
upon opening numbers, the program just crashes when numbers starts up.
any ideas?
He's tried time machine, which 'see's' the program, but does not let him run the 'missing program.
I tried install his purchased copy from the apps store.
it says it is installing but then says install once completed.
any suggestions?
this client had used apple works, converted files to numbers '08.
The 'recent files' in '08 won't open at all.
I think the system can't find the application to make the correct install.

Here is an update and more information: I actually have two MBP's. One is a mid-2009 model and one is a new, mid-2012. I transferred files from the mid-2009 to the mid-2012, but I use both computers frequently. This problem only occurs on the mid-2009 and not on the mid-2012. I have authorized both computers.
