Batter wont charge past 50%

The other day my little brother was playing a game on my 2004/2005 G4 iBook. What he did not realize was that the computer was not plugged in. So, when the computer shut its self down, from ow power he plugged it in a let it charge.
Since this point (about 4 days ago) the computer will not charge past 47-50% (as told by the menu bar, the iStat pro widget, and the terminal) The battery health is 95% (information obtained via iStat and terminal), and I have a 141 cycle count.
Terminal and System Profiler both say that my computer is charged to 2050 mAh of the max 4195 mAh.
I have tried to unplug an re-plug in the power cable I even fully discharged the battery and recharged it to only get to 49% charge.
The confounding part is that when I unplug and then re-plug in the power the "Calculated time till charged" (in the menu bar) say that charging will be complete in 2 hours 45 minutes, then 30 seconds later it says 3 hours 15 minutes, then 30 seconds later 3 hours 37 minutes. The time keep increasing until about 5-10 minutes later the computer says "Calculating" at about 50%. and the System profiler says that the computer is plugged in, is at 2050 mAh of the max 4195 mAh, and that it is not charging. And then the light of the charger plug turns from the orange "charging" to the green "fully charged" which it is not.
I tried a system update but the problem persists.
I have tried everything that I can think of, short of getting a new battery. Which I don't think that I need to do since the battery health is so good and the cycle count is low.
Also as a final note for some reason my computer is not giving me a low power warning when it switches to reserve power. And system profiler says that I do not have this message activated, how do I turn it on?

I also reset the PMU to no effect either.
Battery health gives 541 cycles on my battery, which is kind of a lot.
Isn't it strange that it happened to us in such a small time frame? Couldn't it be related to the latest security update, maybe? Just thinking out loud...

  • Hp netbook wont charge

    hi
so basically ive just acquired a hp mini 110 netbook. it works fine on mains power, but the battery just wont charge. it get stuck on 0% available, plugged in, charging.
its not charging. ive left it over night, and the charge is still 0%.
I saw on another forum an app that analyses the battery, so heres the screen cap, if its any help to anyone.
    http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1.../screencap.png
also i have tried the hp battery checker & it says battery ok.
How can that be the case, when it wont charge past 0%
I dont have another battery to test on it. But i intend to get one.
after leaving it on charge for a further night, and day at work, and the HP thing is now reported battery faliure... it also changed to saying "not charging" and the orange light started flashing.
then after I removed the charger, and then replaced it, it went back to the orgiginal 0% available, plugged in charging.
    This question was solved.

I am betting (friendly not money) that a new battery will fix the problem.

  • Why wont my battery charge past 95

why wont my battery charge past 95%

Battery may not show a full charge in Mac OS X
If the battery icon in the Finder menu bar is set to show the percentage of charge , you might sometimes notice that the battery does not attain a full 100 percent charge when the power adapter is attached. This is normal behavior; battery life is maximized if charging is not continuously cycled on and off when the battery’s charge capacity is between 95 and 100 percent. When the battery level eventually drops below 95 percent, it will charge all the way to 100 percent.

  • Ideapad S500 charge wont go past 59 (60) %

Hi, I've recently bought a new ultrabook, the Ideapad S500 (standard, non-touch).
The problem is, when I charge the ultrabook for a longer travel, it wont go past the 59% mark.
I've read this problem multiple times at different models, however the solution isn't compatible with the newest laptop.
Is this fixable with the standard utilities or do I have to wait untill Lenovo updates there Power Manager to a more recent one?
    With kind regards,
    Liquid.
(This is seriously getting annoying, as this is a laptop meant for my school. At school we have a lot of field work, thus no chance to charge it everytime it gets a little dry.)

    It's possible that the reason your battery isn't charging beyond 60% is due to your energy settings.  Please take a look at the following knowledgebase article, it's for a different system and maybe a different energy manager version, but will hopefully help you when you compare settings;

  • HT4060 For some reason my iPad wont charge at all I'm using the same charger I use on my other iPad n it still won't work

For some reason my iPad wont charge at all I'm using the same charger I use on my other iPad n it still won't work

Try giving it a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
But  if that charger works just fine with your other iPad and not this one, I'd call up your local apple store and make an appointment so they can look at it. Usually when an iPad wont' charge (when plugged into the wall with its supplied charger) it's
    Bad outlet
    bad power brick
    bad cable
and if the charger is working with another iPad then that rules that out and the thing left is something wrong with the 30 pin port on the iPad, or perhaps something with the battery or software that monitors the battery. ANd things like that are beyond a user fix.
On the upside if the device is still under warranty - and barring any obvious signs of abuse or neglect - then it should be covered under the warranty.

  • IPAD wont charge to 100% in one shot

I never noticed this when I got the ipad but it seems like the past 3 for months I have had this issue.
I bought my Ipad new from an Apple store in Sept 2012 so I think it is an IPAD 2.
Using the charger provided .. if my battery is at 15% I will plug it in and go to bed.
The next morning I wake up and it is at 68%.. or 71%.. sometimes 80% and "Not Charging"
I unplug it and plug it back in and I can get to 90% .. then . "Not Charging"
Unplug it again and check back and 100% Not Charging.
I think when I got it it would just go up to 100% overnight .. I dont remember seeing the Not Charging even at 100%
I have not tried a new power supply because they are pretty expensive for something I might not actually need.
    Thoughts?

Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation. The charger is still covered by Apple's 1-year warranty. If defective, you'll get a free replacement

However, you might first recalibrate your battery. See link below.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.

  • Help!-wont charge- A USB driver has exceeded its power limits?!!?

my iPhone charged just fine for the past two months, and now it only charges sometimes.
I will plug it into the wall charger, and it will charge just fine, and then i'll go to charge it again sometime, and it just wont charge, so i tried to plug it into my macbook, and my imac, and they both said "a USB driver has exceeded its power limits, etc, etc." and so i tried my PC, and it gave me the same message. This has happened more than once, and eventually it just charges, but then the whole situation will repeat days later.
I've called apple over 3 times, and no one has helped me. so...
    help??

First, try a different cable. It may be shorting out causing the USB port to overload. Especially since it happens on two computers.
If the cable is ok, try turning the iPhone off. This can be done by holding down the sleep and home buttons until the off slider appears. Then restart it.
If this doesn't help, take it to an Apple store for assistance.

    - Try a reset.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then connect to your computer and try to restore.
    - See if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - If the logo still show all the time, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try the above again.

  • Ipod touch wont load past apple screen. I have tried resetting by holding home button and on/off but after it resets it still only loads to the apple screen. When I plug the device in It stays on the apple screen and itunes does not recognize it?

Ipod touch wont load past apple screen. I have tried resetting by holding home button and on/off but after it resets it still only loads to the apple screen. When I plug the device in It stays on the apple screen and itunes does not recognize it? I fear it may be stuck in some sort of reset loop which is stopping itunes from recognizing it. How do I go about the process of sending it in to apple if I cannot find a fix? Thank you in advance, it is greatly appreciated!!

    - See if placing the iPod in Recovery mode will allow a restore.
    - If not successful and you can't turn the iPod fully off (that is required to place in recovery mode), then let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the reset, restore again
    - Then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apples store.

  • Droid wont go past htc screen

I was looking at a website last night (TMZ) and it froze up my phone. I couldnt lock my phone or anything. The screen just stayed up and i couldnt do anything but take the battery out for it to go away. I started the phone back up and now it wont go past the htc startup screen. I have taken the battery out for a minute. I left it on the charger overnight. and still the samething, it vibrates to come on and then the htc screen. Is there anything I can do?

Just take a hammer to your phone. I've been doing factory resets for the past year on my DROID HTC (so "quietly brilliant," it's stupid). Last Friday, 7/13/2012, my phone started getting stuck in this HTC cycle without any possibility of doing a hard reset anymore. The HTC phone is clearly a rushed-to-market phone and Verizon provides no support whatsoever. I took it into the Verizon store today to see if they could do anything, and nothing. So a week w/o phone service and nothing they can do for me.
If you have to stay in your contract, your best option is to get an old Verizon compatible phone and activate it to use instead. I'm going to go with an early termination fee b/c I can't stand Verizon anymore.
