Batteries and using iPad while plugged in

I read somewhere on the Apple site about optimum iPad battery care and longevity, and also read that it is okay to use the iPad while plugged in.  However the other day I was told that using the iPad while plugged in is detrimental to battery life.....being able to use it without being plugged in is of course huge, but occasionally we like to use it without draining the battery (say before a road trip).....
Can anyone offer any definitive advice on this?
Thanks

I'm not aware of anything that says that it can't be used whilst plugged in - I use mine whilst charging it and there are other people on here who have said that they leave their iPads plugged in all day whilst using it on and off and I havn't seen anybody posting about issues after doing so. This page has tips about maximising battery life, and if there were any issues about it then I would have expected them to be on there - all it says is about charge cycles :
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • Can i use my ipad while plugged in

I want to know if using my iPad while it is plugged in will harm the battery. Mainly I would want to use it while plugged in to A/C, but I also would like to know about using it while plugged in to USB. I have the iPad with retina display and the older wide plug.

Won't hurt it. I used mine plugged in all the time.
You do realize, when plugged into USB, you're using as much power as the iPad is pulling from the USB, so basically it'll still drain as you use it.

No this is not a problem. But you should be charging the device using the charger that came with it and have that lugged into a known good wall outlet.

  • What is needed to use ipad while travelling in Europe?

Boss wants to take ipad with wifi and use while in Europe . .  .what does he need to do before he goes?

All he needs is the appropriate plug adapter for the country he's visiting so he can charge the iPad.  The wifi should just work with all public wifi's he will encounter.  Of course, he'll need to log in and pay for most.

  • Using IPad while charging

When using the IPad all day it is best to keep it connected to the main charger, or use it on battery until the 5% left warning comes up? And then stop working and recharge?

It will not hurt anything at all if you use the iPad while it is charging. On some weekends, my iPad is not unplugged for more than 10 or 15 minutes at a time and then I will put it back on the charger. You cannot overcharge the battery. It stops charging when it has reached a full charge.
Charge it when it is comfortable for you to charge it - whenever it needs a charge.

  • Any ideas how to play iPad music via tv and use ipad at the same time?

I am using ArkMC app to play music from my iPad on my sony bravia tv. But when I come out of the app to say use safari, the music stops streaming. I really want to play music and use my iPad together. Any ideas?.

the app have to support background play or when one move on it will stop playing
if you use an appletv you can use airplay but it will not just play the music it will play any sound your ipad would otherwise play so if you start the music and expect to be able to play a game on the ipad while the music play you will be disappointed

  • Using iPhone while plugged in

Is it OK for the battery to use the phone while plugged in as I usually do with my lap top instead of constantly recharging while using the apps?

In the same way you can use TomTom in a car while it's charging through the holder, yes it's fine

  • When charging and using, ipad 2 is 100% battery, does ipad use the power from the power adapter or from the battery?

I have a quention, when i am charging and using my ipad 2 at the same time, if the battery of ipad is fully 100%, does ipad use the power to work from the power adapter only or from the battery only or both? Thanks!

YOu don't have to have your receipt. Apple should have a record of how long you've had the device. If you bought it in april 2012, then your 1 year warranty against manufacturer's defects is almost up. You should find your local apple store, make an appointment and take it in.

My 5s cannot open screen and use it when charger is connected. Anyone knows why?

Do you use the original charger?
My friend had the same problem with fake chinese charger.
He changed a charger and everything is fine now.
Maybe your charger just broken and needed to replace.

The iPhone6 I purchased 9/23/2014 went dead. Went to use the phone this afternoon and nothing. Tried turning the phone off/on, nothing. Tried rebooting phone by pressing the home and power button's while the phone was connected to power, nothing.  Can't believe that the phone battery is dead or that the phone is fried after only six (6) months of usage.  Any suggestions (hopefully other than purchasing a new phone) is appreciated.

Try the things in this Apple article (some of the which you may have already done). If none of them work go to an Apple Store if there is one in your area. Or contact Apple via the website for support help. As mentioned, as long as nothing is wrong with it that would void the warranty (liquid damage for example) then you're covered. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412

  • T430 using battery while plugged in?

I recently bought a refurbished t430 that's still under warrentee, and having a weird problem with it. Under normal use, the battery chargesas it should, but I've noticed while playing games, the battery drains as if it's running on battery power, but without the screen dimming. Has even had or heard of a problem like this? The AC adapter is the 65w lenovo one it's supposed have.

At full load, the power consumption of the system is bound to exceed the 65W the adapter itself can deliver, so it has to draw upon the battery's supply of reserve energy for spikes of power consumption.
If you remove the battery while using the 65W adapter, your CPU will throttle itself to prevent overexertion of the AC adapter.
If you want to be able to run at full speed without a battery or be able to power the system at full load without draining the battery, you'll need to upgrade to a 90W adapter.

  • Can I buy a new Micro SIM card in France for my Verizon iPhone 5 and use it while in Paris?  Same for London?

I am travelling to Paris for a week and then London for a week. Can I purchase a new Micro SIM card for my Verizon iPhone 5 in Paris and London and then use my phone with some sort of prepaid plan while in France and England?

I just spoke with Tech Support at Verizon and they said Yes, I can use my iPhone 5 in France and England. No unlocking is needed because the phones come pre-unlocked and ready to go. All I need to do is buy a new Micro SIM card in France/England and pick the pre-paid plan of my choosing and the phone will be good to go. Of course, I need to not lose my original Micro SIM card otherwise I would have quite the headache getting a new one once back in the US.

  • I attend St. John's university and use ipad 3 to do most of my work. Since the iOS 6 update I am unable to connect to their network. I can connect to netgear router I have at home but I need the wifi at college as well. Is there anything I can do to fix?

I need wifi at college and can't get it since the iOS 6 update. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Talk to the support people at St. John's to see what the problem is and what they recommend.
