Battery 1 plugged in, charging. Battery 2 is not present

Hello,
I have an HP Elitebook 8440p, like three months ago it started to shut down everytime I unplugged the AC power, and to not cherging the battery at all, then appered a message "battery 2 is not present". I recently changed the battery, it is bigger since I thought it would be better, but now it is out of charge and I am on the same problem, plugged to the AC power but it is stocked on 1% of charge, it says Battery 1 is plugged in, charging; baterry 2 not present; but do not charge the battery at all, if I unplugged the power my notebook shuts down.
I tried following some steps I found posted on some other users, but nothing works out.
Please help me.
Thank you.

  • Laptop says, "plugged in, charging" but it's not charging

I have a Satellite T134-1330 and it is a year and a half old. I was traveling, so my computer was stashed away for three weeks. When I got back, it was dead, but turned on when I plugged it in. Then I noticed later that it the battery was at 22% and not charging any more, yet it says it is.  I tried taking it out and putting it back in, and I also tried draining the battery and then charging it. Now it just says, "0% remaining (plugged in, charging)" I can't figure it out! I googled it and found someone with the same problem. Could the first response be the solution? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100703035214AA9YPb0 Thanks

I've been having problems with the laptop being plugged in but then shutting down without warning from low battery. Just today my laptop shut off without warning so I started really paying attention to it, and I noticed that the battery icon would say "Plugged in, charging" but the charge was actually decreasing.  It got down to 8% and I was frantically googling for a solution, because it was losing charge even though plugged in, when I found your post, Peter.  I followed the steps and now it is charging and is up to 87%. Remains to be seen if this is a permanent solution, but it saved me a lot of aggravation today!   I have dozens of eBay auctions going right now and don't want to be without my laptop.  Thanks, and please reply if you have any more information about this issue with the Satellite L645D laptops.

  • Plugged in, charging (but it's not)

Hi, I'm Having trouble with my HP Compaq Presario F700. It's a few years old but works like a dream. Before I reserected it from the grave It had a horrific crash redering it unrepairable. Once I fixed it' with a few modifacations ( New disk drive, hard drive and OS) It was repaired and fully funcational, besides it overheating from time to time.
But thats not the problem Because of it's age the charger and Battery Broke and had to be replaced, I replaced them with brand new factorie made versions. A few months later Unexspectedly shut down with out warning, when it was unplugged. My first thought was" hey, It just died no big deal!" But when I plugged it in and turned it on it still had 30% left. I've Been looking into this but nothing is working, It has alredy been five months since then It decreases charge percentage by 1% a month so it's at 25% right now.  I have HP support Assistance but it says my battery works just fine. Please help!!!!

    Hello @Pcmaster97,
I have read your post on how your notebook computer has a decreasing charge read from the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
The first step I recommend is to follow this document on Calibrating the Notebook Battery (Windows Vista). This should help re-synchronize the battery to the notebook.
Additionally, I also recommend following the steps below to ensure the necessary driver settings are configured:
Step 1. Go to Device Manager
    Step 2. Select Batteries
Step 3. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
    Step 4. Click Uninstall
Step 5. At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
    Step 6. Shutdown the computer
Step 7: Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in
When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
Step 8. Go to Device Manager
    Step 9. Select Batteries
Step 10. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
Step 11. Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"
Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

it says that the battery # 2 is "not present" and the tablet only works when the charger is plugged in. What has happened? Is there anything i can do?

  • Yoga 2 Pro "plugged in, charging" even when running on battery

A few weeks ago, my Yoga 2 Pro entered a permanent "plugged in, charging" state whether plugged in or running on just the battery. The battery drains as normal, it just always shows the plugged in icon. It also charges as normal. When I turn it off, the "plugged in" LED remains lit even after I unplug the power cord. Anyone else have similar issues? I'm tempted to rewrite the BIOS and see if this fixes it. Thanks for the help!

You, sir, are a life saver! I have no idea how the balance between the left and right speaker could've changed but, doesn't matter since it's fixed now! Thanks very much Dave!

Those can be the features of faulty battery. See if you can get Recovery Mode, don't Restore just enter Recovery Mode. Connect iPhone to computer or Charger. Hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds, see if it enters Recovery Mode. When you unplug Recovery Mode will go away. If it enters Recovery Mode fine, then most likely faulty battery. If you like you can always enter Recovery Mode and try to Restore.

  • Charger "plugged in, charging" but the battery won't go higher than 0%

    Hello there.
I have a HP dv6-2190us laptop which is I think 3 years old.
Yesterday I saw that it powered off and it didn't have any reaction when I pressed the power button on battery. When I plugged in my AC,  thinking this could be a battery error, I saw the charge light flash 11 times and then stay on .
With the AC plugged in it booted into Windows 7 and I saw that it says Plugged In, Charging... but it won't go higher than 0%.
When I  Unplug the AC it powers off suddenly as it doesn't have any battery remaining.
I checked the battery with the HP utility and it said OK and the battery is 29/300 cycles. So it's too soon for the battery to get damaged.
I've tried all the solutions ( Hard reset using power key, update bios, clear cmos, remove driver and install again, etc. ) but none of them helped me.
Do you guys have any ideas?
P.S.: I have replaced the battery 2 months ago and it's fairly new.

If you are still able to power the notebook with the power adapter and the battery removed, then the battery has problems.
Contact the seller for an RMA.
I hope  that you did replace the battery with one that was guaranteed compatible and with a one year warranty.
I have never had one fail that quickly.
    Best regards,
    erico

  • Battery Meter Red, Not Charging when plugged

Last night i was using my phone to browse and surf the net. the battery was running out finally it gave me a graphic that i need to plug it in. The graphic was a plug + the electricity symbol. So i plugged it in and the plug and the electricity turned into just the electricity symbol. so i went to bed and when i woke this morning, the phone was on the same screen. It had the battery meter in red, the electricity symbol on the but no charge. So i checked the plug on the wall, and it works. So i decided to plug it in to the computer and still the same. No charge going through.....
I restarted it while still plugged and nothing.
so finally i restarted it, unplugged the cord....then replugged it and it finally started getting charge...
Has this happened to anyone? Or is there some kind of safe gaurd that i dont know about and just making a full of myself on here?

Ok I think I have an answer. This happened to me twice and both times, it resolved the same way.
CAUSE: Both times, this happened when I let the battery run down too much. I was playing a game or listening to music and ignored the low battery warnings thinking I could push it and eventually the iphone shut down. No problem, I thought. I can just plug it in and keep on going. But when I plug it in, the iphone won't charge ... like it normally does. I get the red battery meter and the plug and lightning symbol as previously described. The phone won't turn on. I tried resetting it several time - hard resets as well - with no response. Always to the screen with the red battery.
SOLUTION: What i did both time was to keep the phone plugged in for at least 4 hours and maybe even more. I noticed that the red battery symbol flashes when it is not plugged in but when it is plugged in - the red battery symbol does not flash. Even though the phone is non-responsive in every other way, it seems to recognize if it is plugged into a power source or not. So I kept it plugged in for several hours. By the way, the phone is totally unusable during this time.
After that time period - I did a hard reset and the phone booted up with the white apple symbol and I started recharging again - this time it took.
I did this TWICE so I think it will work in the future.
THEORY: I am not a computer person (I'm a gynecologist in real life) but I will try to explain this behavior as best as possible. I think when the battery runs down too low it shuts down. But it shuts down EVERYTHING! Even the software that charges up the battery - which is a bug that Apple needs to fix - but everything shuts down. So this may sound stupid but it seems that when it is shut down to this degree the phone does not know how to charge itself. That is why nothing works. The phone remains shut down. It does not reboot. It does not charge up. However, as noted above, the phone does seem to recognize when it is plugged in to a power source or not as indicated by the flashes on the red battery symbol. It flashes if it is not plugged in and it stops flashing when it is plugged.
Anyways, even though the phone does not know how to charge up, it is charging anyways - but only by a trickle. A microscopic trickle. And it takes a couple of hours via this trickle to charge up the phone to a certain level to be able to reboot. After the reboot - you have to charge up the battery again - but since the phone is now working, it knows how to charge itself up normally.
Again, this is an amateur theory but I can't explain this behavior any other way.

  • Inconsistant Battery Charge from plug-in charger and USB ports

My Iphone occassionaly will not charge using the stock plug-in charger and computer USB port. This doesn't happen all the time but enough that I am somewhat concerned. Anyone else have this issue?

    Your Majesty,
If you believe your wall charger has an issue, you can contact your nearest Apple Retail store's Genius bar or AppleCare to have it replaced.
When charging from a computer, it is important that the computer not go into standby or sleep mode. Some computers will actually drain an iPod or iPhone's battery if they are in sleep mode. In addition some portable or notebook computer's don't provide sufficient power to fully charge the battery when they are running on battery instead of AC power.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

Thanks too all the people who responded. . . . (noone)
Got it sorted though. Seems that Apple has issues with multiple apple id's.
Seems i had to somehow remember and use the original id i had when i first bought my 1st iPhone. . . .
Even after that it was extremely hard to get my apps back on my PC.

  • Hp mini 110 battery stuck at 0% (plugged in, charging) but not charging

my battery was working fine this morning, lasted a good 5 hours on full charge... then hp support assistant asked me to update itself and install a whole bunch of drivers for the WLAN and BIOS and all that, so i did. if i remember correctly, the battery at the time the update finished was around 20% and charging... then i unplugged the AC adapter to move it to another spot in my room, then the computer shut off completely... when i plugged it back in and rebooted the battery indicator was stuck at 0% but says (plugged in, CHARGING)....*not "not charging"... so i dont get it...  i've left it alone for an hour and still says 0%... i rebooted and nothing changed.... i did a system restore to bring it back where it was before i did the hp support assistant update....nothing changed...
i honestly don't believe it's a problem with the battery itself because it was working fine until today.... and i didnt yank the adapter out of the socket either...
    Any ideas?

    Hello,
I have a similar issue with battery charging.
HP Battery check tool was showing for old battery status: Replace (40), Current State: Charging (0%)
So I have purchased new battery...
Now HP Battery check shows same for the new battery:
    Replace (40),Current State: Charging (0%)
Computer is HP Mini 110 3010sq
BIOS is updated and computer is working fine with AC adaptor plugged, but shuts dow immediatelly after disconnecting it from AC adaptor.
I have noticed status for "cell voltage 4" is 0 mV for both batteries.
What could be the problem here?
    Any support is appreciated.

  • Battery status showing "not charging" when power adapter is plugged in

I just bought a brand new Magsafe adapter 60w for my macbook but it seems that when i plugged in to my macbook, the battery status showed "not charging".  I have to disconnect and plug in again.  This also happened when I used my previous power adapter, that is why I got a new one.  Is this a common problem?  Please advise what could be done.

    Hi
Try resetting the SMC. This sometimes solves this type of problem, in fact, it's listed as one of the reasons why you should try this:

  • I have the ipad3,and I plug my charger in to charge my ipad and it comes up with the charging battery sign charges for a few minuets and then the white apple sign loads up into the screen then my ipad goes dead again,I hope someone can help:)

I have an ipad 3, when I plug my charger in the ipad comes up with the sign to say it is charging and then the apple sign loads up as if the ipad is about to come on,but then the ipad just goes dead again,I've tried holding both buttons down and I have also tried charging it over night but still nothing is working.
    I hope someone could help:)

When you say you tried holding both buttons, did you mean you held both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appeared, ignoring the red slider if that appears?  If so, exactly what happens?
You may need to take the iPad and charger to an Apple store genius bar to be tested by the techicians.

  • Battery said it's charging but laptop is not holding any charge. At 0%

Having a battery issue and laptop not holding charge. My laptop was working fine yesterday and this is the first time I am having this problem. When I plug in the charger the light turns orange as to indicate it's charging but this is not the case. Also the orange light flickers to white sometimes to note full charge but I'm at 0%. I can only run the laptop for a minute or two before it dies. I checked the icon on the bottom right and it shows that it is plugged in and charging but stays at 0% and dies in a few minutes.
I've tried searching and tried everything.I can't remove battery easily as it is an ultrabook. I tried waiting for laptop to cool, shutting down manually, disconnect charger and plug back in, trying different wall socket. Can't seem to find a solution please help!

    Hi nomanhp,
    First Try these Steps -
    1) Go to Device manager (Control Panel) and check with battery (ACPI and Adapter) that weather its installed or uninstalled..  If uninstalled then reinstall it..   If you find the battery installed in the control panel, try uninstalling it and reinstall..   See if u find any change..
    2) If no Change found.  Along with Following the above steps, shut down and restart your laptop for every uninstall..
I mean, at device manager, uninstall the battery, turn off the laptop and start the laptop again (you might also select "restart with last good configuration" by pressing F8 while restart)...  While reinstalling, the battery gets automatically reinstalled..
You might also try clicking "scan for hardware changes" at device manager..
    3) If the problem Still persists, then ur battery is probably dead and is malfunctioning..  U would need a new Hp Battery..
If none of these above resolve ur problem, then there should be a problem with ur power board and u would need the help of expert to fix it.
