Battery and Power Adapter Question

Hello:
I've seen several posts that address one issue or another but have not seen one that addresses both:
On my iBook G3 14" -
-Will not power up (have tried steps to reset power management).
-Battery light, when button is pressed, flashes several times (more than a dozen?)
-Power adapter light does not come on
Ordered a new battery but have seen that another possibility is the DC board.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Is there somewhere that lists the various meanings of the flashing battery lights?

Since the power adapter light doesn't come on, I would suspect that the adapter isn't working. (I don't want to insult your intelligence, but have you tried a different outlet?)

  • Battery and power issues in T43

    Hi!
I have a 2005 Think pad T43, that for the last month won't charge the battery. It is connected and the battery indicator light is on, but the battery keeps going down when plugged in to AC adapter. It was able to charge when I reset the battery soon after I first noticed this problem, but after that was finished, the problem remains. I then proceeded to use my computer with the battery removed and connected to the AC adapter. This worked for about 2-3 weeks until it suddenly turned off without warning. I turned it back on, it started to boot, then turned off again. I tried putting the battery back in, which succeeded in booting my computer, but then the battery died. I tried taking out the battery, unpluging it, and holding down the power button, but that did not help. My computer would turn on for a few seconds each time I turned it on, then would turn off. Now, it won't turn on at all, not even an indicator light. When the battery is in and it is plugged in, the battery indicator light is on. My battery and AC adapter are about a year old.
I really don't want to buy a new computer but realize I might have to if I can't inexpensively fix this one. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

  • Windows 10 Upgrade Salellite - Resolving battery and power issues

My upgrade seemed to go smoothly until I tried to unplug my laptop and use it with the battery. It shut down even though it shows that I have 100% charge. It was working fine before the upgrade. When I put my model into the site it says that it is not compatible for the upgrade but otherwise everything seems fine so far except that I cant use my battery. Someone I know suggested that I might need to download a driver but I have no idea which one or if that is the problem. I would appreciate some help with this. I have Satellite C875-S7303. Model # PSCBAU-009005.  If anyone knows what I can do that would be so great. Thank you!

  • My battery won't charge, but the computer and power adapter show all signs it should be.  Help?

Last night, when both my power adapter and laptop were showing signs that I was fully charged, my computer suddenly died.  I restarted my computer, and it said my battery was at 0%.  That night, I fiddled around until my power adapter said it was charging and then went to sleep.  This morning I come back, and my battery is at 0% still, but both charger and laptop show signs that it's charging (brighter screen, LED is orange, lightning on the battery icon).  Does anyone know what's going on?
I have a basic MacBook with the magnetic charger, and it's a few years old.

  • Where can I get accessories and power adapter for Powerbook 180c

My father just bought me second hand a Powerbook 180c. It looks to be in great condition. But it can't be checked to make sure as the battery is dead and the power adapter was not with it. I've looked on line at various stores, Office Depot, Staples, Amazon, Buy, etc only to find that they either do not carry Apple products or the accessories and power adapters would not work. Or the prices are disgustingly high. Due to illness I cannot work and my parents are on a limited budget. Does anyone know what sites carry accessories and power adapters that will work on the 180c without breaking the bank, atleast a power adapter for now, to see if the 180c even works? Any advice appreciated.

Hi, I'm not sure that a retail store will still carry an adaptor this old unless it's a generic one.
I just checked mine, as Jan says it is 7.5V DC at 3.0A don't get the older version which was for older PowerBooks as it was only 2.0A. The part number on my 3.0A is M5652.
This fellow on eBay seems to have lots.

  • Hissing sound with wi-fi and power adapter connected

This is quite annoying - when the power adapter is connected and I have a w-fi connection to the internet I get intermittent 'hissing' sounds - however when I remove the lead and run off the battery this no longer happens. Does this happen to anyone else?!

What problem are you having ?
If you have the 'this iPad hasn't been backed up' message on screen and you can't remove it try a soft-resetave you tried a reset ? : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
When the iPad has restarted you can then force a backup via Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Back Up Now

  • MACBOOK - battery or power adapter???

Hi! Im new user of Mac, I use my laptop as a desktop. Do I run it on battery and just recharge after every discharge? or do I use AC power the whole time with my battery in the Mac? Or should I remove the battery while using under AC, with my old laptop I remove the battery and use AC plug always. Thanks

The usual recommendation is to keep it running off the adapter power, but let it run off battery power maybe once a month or whenever you take it on the road and don't have an outlet. Running it periodically off the battery keeps it calibrated and is good for the ultimate life of the battery.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
Batteries slowly degrade after each charge. If you use it off the battery twice a day for a year, you're going to find that your battery life is noticebly degraded. I've heard the magic number is 300 cycles (this is recorded in the battery I believe), where Apple won't replace a battery under warranty if it the battery life is noticeably degraded. Laptop charging systems for lithium rechargeable batteries are designed to prevent overcharging by charging up to maximum, then only topping off when it drops below a certain amount (I thought it was 95%). There's no "trickle charge". Apple has a definition of "all the time" that excludes monthly use off of battery power. There's a difference between leaving it plugged in "most of the time" versus "all of the time".
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
    *Standard Maintenance*
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time. An ideal use would be a commuter who uses her MacBook Pro on the train, then plugs it in at the office to charge. This keeps the battery juices flowing. If on the other hand, you use a desktop computer at work, and save a notebook for infrequent travel, Apple recommends charging and discharging its battery at least once per month. Need a reminder? Add an event to your desktop’s iCal.
That monthy iCal reminder link is in the above page on the right where it says "Remind me to charge and discharge my notebook battery".

  • Power adapter questions

    Hi,
I have a "late 2004" 12" G4 ibook and a FW800 15" G4 Powerbook and one single power adapter left (one has stopped working). This is a A1021 65W power adapter. The first question is:
    - can I use this power adapter for both laptop?
I have tried to purchase a second A1021 65W power adapter on ebay. So far I have purchased 2, These are , or they appear to be, genuine Apple A1021, 65W; but the problem is that the connectors, the one with the LED ring, will not fit in either of my laptops. This is the case for both power adapters, bought from different people. I am confused, because the adapter looks a genuine apple A1021, but the connector of mine fits perfectly in both laptop, while the connectors of these 2 don't. I have tried to spot the difference but the 2 connectors really look the same.
Has anyone any knowledge or experience with this type of problems?

    Hi Bendetto,
You can use the 65W power adaptor with both the iBook and the Powerbook.
As long as the adaptor is white, it should fit into the Powerbook or the iBooks you specify. You may find the outer shield of the power adaptor is slightly deformed. Try to make it fit, using gentle force while rotating it. Once you make it fit, it will be fine for the future.

  • MacBook Pro whine problems plus wake-to-sleep problems and power adapter

Hello. I bought my MacBook Pro for some months ago as "refreshed". They said that it worked fine and had no problems. That just the owner had left it because he didn't want it anymore. However, sure, it has worked great. But it has a loud annoying whine. It is very annoying. Nope, no Mac OS X update or firmware update have worked. I guess I should leave it in, or should I? Maybe I can get a MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo instead of my current MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo (2.0 GHz). Or what do you think?
The second problem is with wake-to-sleep. The latest update said it would fix this issue. But it is even worser now than it was. (and it was bad). It seems like when the power adapters gets unplugged, that it goes to sleep then. But it also goes to sleep sometimes and is hard to wake up, so still same issues there.
The first but last. My Power adapter is kinda broken, it works, but the quality seems kinda bad. These two things that you plugin to the wall, they are bent so it kinda hard to plug it in.
    Anyone knows what to do?

It whines when on batteries too.
Then just install the kernel extension, aand pure silence I don't think that it decreases a lot the battery life. It is safe to try, and it can be installed uninstalled dynamically to the system. It has an automatic installer, which will enable it each time your computer starts. If you do not want it to be automatic like that, let me know, I can explain how to controle loading/unloading of the driver

  • Battery and Customer Support Question

Hello. My iPod works only when it's connected to a powersource (not with the battery), meaning there must be something wrong with the battery. I am actually in China (Shanghai) right now for a longterm and I bought my iPod when I lived back in the United States with AppleCare plan. I was wondering what support I can get for my iPod here.

Since the power adapter light doesn't come on, I would suspect that the adapter isn't working. (I don't want to insult your intelligence, but have you tried a different outlet?)

  • Power adapter question (T410 2537-DN1)

I have a thinkpad T410 (2537-DN1) and my original power adapter is seeing some wear and tear that I have temporarily fixed with some electrical tape. My adapter is currently a 60W/20V model. What I am wondering is that I still have an adapter from my old T60. It's a 90W/20V model. Can I safely use it on my T410? My research has found both yes and no suggestions but nothing solid. Ergo, I thought I would ask.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Battery or power adapter

    Hi,
I just wondering if my notebook is full battery or I just finished power supply, it is better to use power adapter or battery? (if power adapter is available)
    Thanks

Keep the computer plugged in whenever possible.
If you keep the computer always plugged in, make sure that twice a month
run it on battery until battery level drops to about 50-40%.
