Battery backup is getting worse in my N82
Hi all,
I have used my N82 for 3 months now. earlier the battery used be alive for 2 days at a minimum. but nowadays i must charge my cell atleast once a day to its maximum.
Can some one suggest me how to get rid of this prob.
Hi arunkumarscts
You might like to download this application to your device:
http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/resources/user_experience/power_management/nokia_energy_profiler/
It will at least give you an idea of energy consumption on your N82. You are also quite fortunate in that mine hardly lasts out the day with minimal use, although two hours per day of Bluetooth connection to a Nokia CK-300 carkit must take it's toll on the battery.

There is now a link to the Energy Profiler app now and not just a link to a page with info on it.

N82 battery life getting worse
Hi
I've had a black N82 for about 3 weeks and over the past few days noticed that the battery life is getting worse.
I charged it one evening last week and within 24 hours it had fully discharged. Over that time I did not take or receive any calls, send or receive any texts. I kept WLAN scanning switched off and played a small 30 second clip of video once. For about half of the time the phone was in a strong 3G area.
I recharged it again and within 18 hours I had 3 bars left (this time I had used WLAN for about 10 mins and sent a couple of texts). Left on "active standby" overnight (as usual) in a wek 3G area it had discharged by the following morning.
For the first two weeks of ownership I have been able to get much more use out of the phone between charges. I have not changed the useage of the phone since I owned it but I now find I am charging it almost once a day rather than once every 3 days.
Am I doing anything wrong? As I live in a weak 3G area wondered if I am better of switching off 3G and if so how I do so. I think I spend about half the time in a strong 3G area (at work etc).
Any advice gratefully received.
Solved!
Go to Solution.Have you installed any 3rd party applications recently? That could explain why your battery performance has got worse.
I once installed a screensaver on my old N80 and whilst it looked fancy it pretty much killed my battery within half a day's use. As soon as I removed the application the battery performance returned to normal, which for the N80 wasn't that brilliant anyway
Just a thought.
*EDIT* I just had another thought, do you have your N82 paired via Bluetooth to a PC running PC Suite? This will also run your battery down rapidly as the PC Suite software will initiate a BT link automatically whenever the phone is in range and has BT activated. This will also kill a battery much faster than normal.

I bought a macbook pro 13.3" a week back. However the battery backup i get is just of around 4:30 hrs. I use my laptop mainly for emails, surfing, Xcode and MS word, powerpoint. Can any one suggest me what might be the problem?
"The built-in battery of your MacBook, MacBook Pro or MacBook Air is designed to deliver up to 1000 full charge and discharge cycles before it reaches 80 percent of its original capacity. In addition, Adaptive Charging reduces the wear and tear on the battery giving it a lifespan of up to 5 years." Check out these two links as well. I have found them very helpful, and I think you will as well. http://www.apple.com/batteries/ and http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html.

My sons I touch has gone very light in colour almost white . It gets worse as the battery wears down . He swears that it hasent been near water so would Anyone know what this is . Should I take it in to fix ?
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. -
What to do for getting a good battery backup for E...
I had brought the E6 after a convincing conversation at the Nokia Priority Partner shop and the executive there told me that E6 is a smartphone and also gives a good battery backup. Only on this condition I bought this new phone but to my misfortune this does not have a good battery backup. Everyday morning I need to charge my battery or the phone is dead. This is very much annoying as well as disappointing. I even suffered software issues with my E6. Thrice I needed to get its software reinstalled and even now having issues with the same. The priority centre only tells each time that you get the software reinstalled and your E6 will work fine. But I'm surprised that E6 only borrows my time to get it checked on the go.
No doubt this phone is one of the best which Nokia has ever brought, but, still if it could help me sort this issue then I would rank E6 to be the best in its class.Which country did you buy your phone in?
There are many posts dealing with this issue and steps to be taken to increase battery life.
Some important ones are:
1. Switch off 3G if you do not need it.
2. Reduce the mail retrieval frequency if you have configured email accounts.
3. Switch off automatic WiFi scanning.
4. Reduce number of homescreens.
5. Close any background application that you do not need.
6. Switch to power saving mode when you do not actively use the phone for longer periods. -
After the upgradtion on iOS 6.1 in my iPhone 4s Wi-Fi greyed out and now my battery life getting worse. Earlier it was 2 days minimum in Standby and now its even can't stay for 7 hours, which is really horriable. Someone battery doesn't stands for a day even less than a day how come he survive
Its really disgusting service and apps whatsoever Apple is doing for their valuable customer.Apple is just to stay here ...not here to compete with other smartphone...if it will contiune within very short time Apple will be out from the market
Now it seems that i should opt out from iPhone and go for other smart Phone.Adjusting the brightness, turning off notifications from few apps and balancing the volume could help your iPhone battery last longer.

Why is my battery life getting worse on my ipad?
The battery life of my ipad has begun to slump pretty bad. I am not using it any more or less than I always have but for some reason, the battery seems to drain faster than it ever has. Any thoughts?
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Logic Pro 9 is unstable on my system and just keeps getting worse. Any ideas?
Hello all, so, I've had a Mac Pro, Quad-Core 2.93 GHz Intel Xeon, 16 GB RAM, Mac Pro running Snow Leopard for about 3 years now. I use Logic Pro 9 (Academic Version) and it is really, really unstable. It seems to go through periods of getting worse, but lately it's been unbearable. I am a professional and I find it hard to believe that this software is allowed to have the word "Pro" in the name if it's this unstable for everyone. But, it seems that only some people have the issues I have. Off the top of my head, a few of the main issues are: CPU spiking like crazy (when the Activity Monitor says very little usage by Logic), I know some of the workarounds like making more auxes and splitting up the load, but this is ridiculous. I shouldn't have to work around a professional piece of software just to use it. Sometimes the CPU spikes with one instrument or one audio channel and nothing going on. It's really messed up.Then there's the memory errors when Logic is only using 1GB or RAM, IF THAT. I don't understand this at all, it also can happen in a fully loaded session or with barely anything going on. Then there are the random crashes that make no sense. There's also the part where it does not agree with many LEGIT-OWNED plugins, like Refx Nexus, XFER Nerve, most of the UAD plugins and many more. There's literally a TON more bugs, but these are the big and obvious ones that ruin my workflow. I have not been able to find a real fix for this, from deleting the preferences to reinstalling. I really don't understand it and Logic seems to work much better for other people I know. It also runs much smoother on my really crappy, old laptop. There's nothing wrong with the Mac Pro (other than it's probably self destructing like we all know Apple products do, but this has been a problem since the day I purchased it), it passes all tests and runs perfectly with any other software - from audio/video editing (Cubase, Ableton, Pro Tools, Final Cut, etc. all run like a dream) to video games. So, I really am fed up with this because I've been using Logic for so long that I really don't want to switch to a new DAW. That would slow down my workflow even more than Logic's crashes already do. Someone please help me, if you can.

Yes... but I have come across some setups that came with a native SL (and even one Lion!) installation.. that somehow had a corrupted or older Prokit installed for some unknown reason... and given it's a quick fix to try.. I thought I'd mention it..
I frankly don't think it is entirely a Prokit issue itself, but it wouldn't do any harm to try and install v7 just in case it is part of the problem...
+1 on the UAD stuff....
Also, at the time it crashed... according to the logs...the OP was running Ableton Live at the same time, presumably rewired with Logic... so add all that together with UAD plugins... and that's quite a load on the system...
Finally in thread 32 there is a weird exception msg relating to the Trash2 plugin.. that I haven't seen before...

That might be nothing... but as i said, I haven't seen that one before and given what else is going on.. it might be involved too... or nothing to do with that at all! -
Is there a log entry indicating the use of battery backup?
I have a Late 2013 iMac, 27" i7 780m running Mavericks 10.9.4 - Is there an entry in any of the System Report logs that shows whether or not the computer had to make use of a UPC battery backup?
I've experienced some of the same issues people have had with their system not waking from sleep, having to resort to using the power button to get things moving again. Today, however, we had a serious thunderstorm and when I got home the system was shut down (or possibly not wanting to wake from sleep - the iMacs have no glowing light like my old Mac Pro, so there's no way to tell if the thing is shut down, a "heavy sleeper", or what). I'm asking the above question because if the system ever does have to rely on the battery backup while I'm away I want a way to confirm the system is actually using the UPC and shutting down properly (via Power Management settings) and not simply getting knocked out by a power failure.
It's somewhat unrelated, but the not-waking-from-sleep issue factors into this because that problem seems to be unrepeatable under any controlled circumstances. The support documents starts with disconnecting peripherals that might cause an issue, but the problem pops up so infrequently (weeks apart) there's no way to know if a disconnected USB hub is the culprit or a red herring. Today, for example, I'm left wondering if my issue was a power outage (the UPC should have taken care of a safe shutdown) or if I had an iMac not wanting to wake from sleep.Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage. Your backups are listed at the top, along with their sizes. Note: this will only list your most current backup. You may have your previous two backups available too but you cannot access any size information about them.

Charging with a FireWire-based power source is not supported, except on original iPhone and iPod touch (1st generation). If the device is connected to a FireWire-based charger or accessory, this alert screen will appear:
Charging is not supported with this accessory.

Can't Sleep or Shut Down - Getting Worse
I have a new MBP with WinXP Home installed on a separate partition created with Boot Camp 1.2. I use Windows to access a work system, otherwise, I am always in OS 10.4.9.
Everything worked perfectly for about two weeks.
Beginning about a week ago, I noticed that the laptop would sometimes not sleep with the lid closed. The Apple logo would darken, but the pulsing light would not come on. If left in this condition, it would get very, very hot and need a restart by using the power key.
At first this was occasional, but now, if the MBP has been on for more that five minutes it is constant. In addition, I cannot shut down using the Apple Menu. The shutdown progresses to the blue screen, and then freezes.
I have verified the disk, repaired permissions, and reset the PMU. This particular unit is not connected to any peripheral devices by USB or FW, but is on a home network with a printer and an Airport Disk which automounts at startup.
It's not reasonable to have this unit crash every time on sleep or shutdown. The sleep problem is present when booted into Windows XP or MacOS 10.4.9, but I have not yet seen a shutdown failure in Windows.
The fact that this problem is progressive (getting worse) suggests to me that it is a software, not a hardware issue.
Any thoughts?
MacBook Pro 2.33 GHHz Mac OS X (10.4.9) Boot Camp 1.2/Win XP HomeUPDATE
I have corrected the shut down issue, so far. After the usual hoop jumping with Applecare with no success, I re-installed the OS (except this time it was a clean install as opposed a migration from my old system.)
I installed each update individually and tested the shut-down via the apple menu after each install. So far it has worked. I started with the Battery Update and then the 10.4.9 then the security update. Then all the rest. NO More trouble.
I have not reinstalled all my non-apple software. I installed Firefox (which is my browser of choice. Machine still shuts down.) I also used T-Bird but I have not installed it yet.
GDee: If U have T-bird installed or use it try uninstalling it. See if that solves your shut down issue, too.
That was the last major app install I did that I can remember. Just a hunch.

Hello,
For three years, we've had Verizon Fios Internet and TV. We've never had a phone.
Today, the contraption Verizon plugged in the wall (sadly, I'm not really sure what it is, and had forgotten it existed until today as it's tucked behind some furniture) started beeping and the replace battery indicator light is on. Furthermore, when I turn on TV, I am greeted with this message:
My questions are:
(1) If I don't have phone service, why would I even have a battery backup (much less need to replace it) to allow phone service during power outages?
(2) Since I have only internet and TV, can I safely go without replacing this battery?
(3) If the answer to #2 is yes, then how do I get the thing in the wall to stop beeping every 30 minutes?
Thank you in advance to any responses. You can unplug the battery in your optical network terminal (ONT) and the message needing to replace the battery will go away. Verizon customer service did confirm the battery is only for phone service when power is off.
I was only able to find 3 links on the alarm / battery backup. It looks like they never thought about people who did not want the phone feature and to silence the beeping with the battery removed?
I don't know how frequently my unit beeps, but I don't normally hear it because it is in my garage. I don't know if it has a pattern to when it beeps; but when I'm in the garage, I sometimes hear a single loud beep for about 1 second.
I imagine the battery must enable the laser to function when the power is off besides supply power to the copper phone lines in your house for a line powered phone. I would assume then that if one had a UPS to power the computer and router and a good battery in the BBU; then one could have an internet when the power is off too? Verizon user manuals don't mention this, so it might not work?

I went to use my iPad mini and the screen has a gouge on the side of it. It is starting to spiderweb. It is only a small spot currently. Is there any way to keep it from getting worse?
No, and it would be a REALLY good idea to make a backup of your content as soon as possible, then take the iPad to an Apple store genius bar for an out-of-warranty replacement. If you backup to iCloud the techs can restore your content while you wait.

Hi A friend of mine bought a new iMac (21.5 inch, 2.5 Ghz) a few months ago. To get it started he had to download OSX 10.7 Lion. He insists that there is no iPhoto in the applications folder. He is a technophobe and knows nothing about Macs (generall
