Have you tried adjusting the following?
1. Lower brightness
2. Turn off WiFi when not using
3. Turn off 3G when not using
4. Turn off Bluetooth when not using
5. Minimize use of Location Service
6. Turn off push notification
7. Fetch new data less frequently
8. Turn off push mail
9. Auto-check fewer mail account

Have you failed to regularly backup the device to iTunes or iCloud? If so, the data is gone.

You can only due an OTA update if your on IOS 5 or higher. If not connect your phone with itunes and itunes should read that your phone needs to be updated. suggest doing a backup of your phone prior to updating.

I have recently updated m iPhone 4 which was not used since months. It has to be updated from5.1.4 to iOS 7.0.4 and it has taken more than 15 hours to get started. Plz help me. It took about 5 to 6 hrs to prepare for updating.

My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps. I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them. The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage. It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup. With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up. The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete. This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems. -

What is not responding?
Did you perform the update via iTunes orover the air?
If iTunes, then all your data is backed up automatically.
Did you make sure to use only the latest version of iTunes (10.7 for PC users)?
If you are saying you want to leave IOS 6 and go back to 5, that is not possible. Apple stops signing previous builds typically within 24 hours from launch. -
I have recently updated my ipad mini to iOS 7. My Apple ID works for everything apart from iMessage and FaceTime. When I sign in, it says check your network connectivity and try agin. I have tried several times. Why is this happening? What can I do to resolve this issue?

Have recently updated to ios 8.1.1 and have lost my downloaded ringtones I paid and downloaded again only to find it has disappeared again has anyone else had this problem as I have browsed the net and I appear not to be the only one to have this problem.
<Edited By Host>I spent over an hour on hold with Apple last night only to find out they are being bombarded with calls about this. Just bought the iPhone 6 a few days ago, lost my ringtones, rebought them because I didn't want the hassle of being on hold like I was. They disappeared after 24 hours! Re purchased them thinking it was a glitch, nope, gone again! Apple tech said they are having problems with the 8.1.1 update and you can call to get reimbursed. They are working on a new update and hope that will fix the problem but they can't guarantee it! What??? They don't know when the update will be available and if it will fix the problem. But they said the ringtones should hopefully reappear on the phones......Get it together Apple!!

I have recently updated my iphone 5 to ios 6.0.2 but wi-fi is still slow. It takes a lot of time to download the files. But web browsing is OK. I have downloaded an app size 8 MB but it take around 15 minutes on my wifi. Please help Apple.
I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more. And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should. On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much. I will post a note in the app store to let them know. I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again. -

Are the backups performed at a genius bar different than using iCloud?
Brought in our iPhone 4S (iOS software up to date) to visit a genius at a local Apple Store (there had been gremlins running around, blocking screen rotation and randomly resetting the volume). It had been backed up (or should I be saying "sync'd") to iCloud prior to the visit.
They reset the phone, and handed it back with one issue (rotation) resolved with a kind word of education (actually more of a slight of hand "all you have to do is . . . ", but it gave us enough to find the toggle on our own), and the other (volume) not misbehaving while in the repair shop. Hope was that the standard reset resolved it. It hasn't, but that isn't our semi-immediate issue.
When we received the phone back (same afternoon), contacts were back in place, MOST notes had been returned, we were told to pull our applications back from iTunes, etc. to put the phone back in order, and our photos were still safely on iCloud.
Now after having used the phone a bit including taking additional photos (without allowing it to resync to iCloud), are we in trouble if we try to restore things like the photos? Will they be added to what we have, or overwrite the new photos and leave only the old ones?
Any suggestions will be appreciated (including what I am missing in explaining the situation). Thanks.Restoring the backup will overwrite the data currently on the phone. (In fact, you have to erase the phone in order to restore an iCloud backup.) However, you can import the new photos in your camera roll to your computer using your usb cable before doing so, as explained here: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer. They can then be synced back to your phone using iTunes after restoring the backup.
Another option is to add the new photos to a shared stream as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e35. The shared stream will reappear on your phone after restoring the backup. You can then save them back to your camera roll and delete the shared stream. The only disadvantage to this approach is that photos added to a shared stream will be a somewhat lower resolution than the originals in your camera roll (approx. 3.1-3.5 megapixels). -
I keep getting this message when I try to update my apps and when trying to purchase new apps from the App Store. I checked my iTunes ID and it turns out that the country shown there is the one that I am actually living in. And it is the same as my billing address, but when I tried to update my apps again, I keep getting this message, 'you are not eligible for purchase of this item from the US store, please switch to the Malaysia store'. How do I solve this issue.
Besides ever since I updated my phone iOS it has started misbehaving, quite irritably at times. Dropped calls, slow typing, apps open very slowly, apps cannot be updated with prompts coming up like, this app cannot be updated now, please try again. I had to delete quite a few apps and reinstall them again. I had a trouble free experience with this phone till now, but is apple losing its magic.Thanks too all the people who responded. . . . Got it sorted though. Seems that Apple has issues with multiple apple id's.
Seems i had to somehow remember and use the original id i had when i first bought my 1st iPhone. . . .
Even after that it was extremely hard to get my apps back on my PC.
