Battery Bloated, got it replaced in 2009, bloated once again. what to do?

I bought a 13" white macbook in March 2008. A year later i noticed that my battery had swollen. I had purchased the APP with it and the battery was replaced in August 2009. Now a couple of months again I've noticed a bulge in the battery. My Macbook is out of warranty now, but I don't see any reason why i should pay to get a new battery as its clearly Apple's fault

They didn't like my MacMall ram so they took it out and gave it to me saying "this isn't a certified apple ram, it didn't pass a few tests and could create problems with system stability". Honestly, I feel that macmall ram is just as good as apple ram so I put it back in. <</div>
Just be advised you reinstalled RAM that has already failed some of Apple's hardware tests. Any future issues this creates may or may not be covered (depending on what they are of course and if they are in any RAM related.)
Failed RAM can cause a unit not to turn on, at all. So if you think your 3rd party RAM that has already failed hardware tests is "just as good" then please make sure you back up all of your crucial data that you can not stand to lose. In my experience anyway, when I used cheap rate 3rd party RAM, I always paid for it later on with downtime for repairs, lost data (my backups I had made become corrupt in the meantime and could not be read from.)
On my MBP I saved up and had the RAM upgraded at the apple store, so I wouldn't have to worry about that again.

  • Apple TV Keeps dropping , Just got a replacement today but does the same whats the problem

I went today to the Apple store in Fashion Center in Las Vegas , NV . Replaced my Apple TV Box 3rd Generation 1080 P and when the technisian gave me the new one told me if you will still have the same issue contact support? What a joke so they will charge me money to talk to them.
Well why it keeps dropping ? Just had a replacement where Apple never told any one of a recall , Apple is getting to be a cheating company and hope that a class action one day will make them pay fines of Millions of Dollars.I bought it at the Apple store and they have all my infor along with an Imac,MacBook Pro,Two Iphone 5's and an Ipad Air . Hey Thousands of Dollars spending of hard money and what Apple egnores you ? hey that is not right someone has to start a class action lawsute against them have them pay for all this.
I am a big fan of Apple but after today I will start cutting with my Apple products and go back to Windows at lease Bill Gates never cheated on us, But still Steve Jobs was great , Unlike the CHEATER Tim Cook that even dont have a recall on his faulty products.
I have many crashes with my Iphone 5 and my new Ipad Air and when ever i go to the Apple store there Tec people always says well you have to Reset all setting and then it will resolve the problem.I see that this is all they know, Mostly kids working there and it is not my first time that i hear this , RESTORE the Phone or the Computer or the Ipad thats all they know , They have no clue of whats going on ,I encorage you to go to Fashion Show Calleria and tell them that your Iphone keeps crashing all they will say right away Restore all settings and they did it to me but same issue presists , So today i did not want them to restore my new iPad air where the Tec Lady saw that it has crashed so many times.
This is a real joke i Google my TV Box and saw that since 2012 they where having issues with it and no one had let us know.I kept restarting the Apple Tv till last night when it got on my nerves and Googled it and saw that there was a problem that was going on for Two years.
So what do you guys suggest that i will do to resolve my problem,I count on you here at the forums more than counting on Apple.
    Regards
    Sam

My experience is that the dropping connection looks like a firmware 6.x issue, whereas losing home sharing already occurred in firmware 5.x Actually, I felt that the losing home sharing problem was at least partially solved in firmware 6.x
I also know that the home sharing issue is quite complicated and may be not related to the Apple TV at all (but more to the network / sleeping computer / iTunes).

The bottom rubber case of my macbook 13" late 2009 has expanded and has detached from the main body..As i'm not presently under warranty i wanted to know will the repair be free of charge for me. I had once got it replaced for free but in warranty. As i read some where in the support that apple had agreed with the defect and had decided to replace the bottom covers without any charge. And even if i'm charged for it what will be the amount  will hav to pay for it..
    Thankx

    Hi,
Here's the Bottom Case Replacement Link
    http://www.apple.com/support/macbook-bottomcase/
It doesn't answer your specific questions about cost... but it does advise to contact an Apple Store or an AASP...
Anyway have a look at it... if you haven't already..

  • I got a replacement battery, reset the SMC, and my computer will still turn off unexpectedly.

    Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro, 2ghz iz, C0*****F8V.
My original battery wore down to the point where it would not be recognized as available and the computer couldn't power on without shutting down in a few minutes. I ordered a replacement battery, certified Apple genuine, but after 3 days it reached about half charge and the computer died, not turning back on without the adapter. When it did reboot the battery was at 0% and not charging, and the computer was incredibly slow and laggy.
I refunded and returned this battery and got a new one. I've had it installed about 2 days and the computer will still turn off if not plugged in at about 80-85%. I have reset my SMC multiple times and my PRAM as well. coconutBattery says nothing is wrong with the battery.
What can I do? I'm a freelance video editor and this is basically calling me out sick from work for a week now.
    Thanks!

Do these codes refer strictly to the battery, or to possibly other components that interact with it?
I can not give you a definitive answer to that.  The 'x's' which I have marked should be letters.  If so, could you provide them and that may give us a clue:
If that is actually what was generated by the AHT, then I am a bit surprised.
At any rate, the bottom line is that the MBP does not like your battery even though the output information that you provided does not indicate anything adverse.  An Apple battery should correct your problem, I would think, but there is an alternative that I came across yesterday that you might consider.  OWC. a Mac oriented vendor, is now selling replacement batteries for MBPs.

Based on the reputation of the company, I personally would be willing to try their non-Apple branded replacement.  I have dealt with them a fair amount, so my statement is from experience.  Note that is has a 1 year guarantee as do the Apple batteries.  ( I will need a replacement for my 2010 MBP and I will probably purchase it from them)
    Ciao.

Keep iPhone on wall charger for ten minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to respond.

  • 4th time of expanding battery, time for a replacement?

Whilst I understand the expanding battery issue isn't new, my 1st gen 17" mbpro has experienced it since new. Today the 4th battery (all exchanged by Apple) decided to gain weight.
After spending a while on the phone to Apple Tech's greatest, they admitted that something wasn't exactly right and asked me to send the laptop in for a service.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is this a good case for possibly swapping out this faulty laptop for one that doesn't destroy batteries so easily, often ones that are only 2 months old?
    Cheers

The 17" models seem to have more of a problem with the swelling battery. I have the 15" and I haven't experienced any battery bloat or deformation as of yet.
I agree in thinking that the issue could be your computer and not the battery itself because the battery bloating only seems to be an issue on the earlier Core Duo Macbook Pros, although there is probably at least one case out there with the newer models that I may not have heard of.
Take it into AppleCare and see if they can resolve the issue. If you still experience battery swelling after you get it back, I would call up Apple Executive Customer Relations. You can reach them by calling AppleCare or sending an email to the company.

  • I just got my replacement ipad last night. when i got home and tried the applications, there is no sound. but the videos do have sounds.

i just got my replacement ipad last night. when i got home and tried the applications, there is no sound. but the videos do have sounds. i already checked the settings. i cannot find what's causing it. please help.

You may have already checked the settings, but it still sounds like you have system sounds muted.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Has anyone with a whinning MacBook got it replaced with a silent one?

Has anyone with a whinning MacBook got it replaced with a silent one?
    or
Has anyone got the CPU whine fixed at Apple?

I had a whining week 12 MacBook Pro. I exchanged it at the Apple Store for another week 12 MacBook Pro (they didn't have any week 13 models).
The second week 12 MacBook whined far louder than the first. Also, unlike the first MacBook which whined only on battery power, the second MacBook whined on both A/C and battery. Moreover, it was unstable (something I did not experience with the first MacBook) and prone to kernel panics.
I returned the second MacBook. I was offered a week 13, but I asked for my money back instead.
I'm currently waiting to see what Apple says about this issue before ordering again.

  • Just got a replacement ipod

And i say wow. This crap must be refurbished with bad quality. My battery is 8-0-90 percent low. I can already find a dozen scratches on the screen, or it could be just the wrapping which i highly doubt. Nice way to expect a replacement ipod which much less quality.

Well i went there and the guy didnt give me such a hard time since i looked very young. I then got my replacement ipod. While i was there i picked up some screen protectors and im paplying them right now! Im cautious for the front, the back went smoothly. I alreayd got a case, but the screen protectors that game with it were ******** and the adhesive weared off when i tryed to wash the dust sticking on the adhesive.

  • A1281 is the battery i got for my 15inch MBP. Is the battery life only 2 - 3 hours for a new battery on this device.

A1281 is the battery i got for my 15inch MBP. Is the battery life only 2 - 3 hours for a new battery on this device.
    This is from Apple.
2 to 3 hours seems very low.
what is teh standard or advertised spec for a 15 inch Macbook Pro with this battery.
I would like to know so that i can return it if this is not normal.
Its expensive so comments would be appreciated.

I say it depends on your model? average usage is about 3-4 hours depending on what you use and how you use it. Adobe Flash player eats a lot of battery power so if you are on a web page and has flash player, likely that it's eating up battery because of it's power thirsty.
Also check your systems activity monitor. It could be possible that one of your program/apps did not close right and may be still running. So check for that and end the process if necessary.
If you have a backlight keyboard, in a broad daylight, it's not necessary to have it on.
I also suggest that you use it plugged in most of the time, and it's not going to hurt or damage the battery if you have it plugged in all the time. Only use on battery if you are going to places that has no access to the outlet. If you are at home, then keep it plugged in. Just keep in mind to fully drain the battery until it your MBP turns off on it's own. This is the calibration process so that you have the most accurate battery readings.
The standard for 2011 MBP is 7 hours on battery. Before that model is 10 hours, but i don't believe that previous models will last 10 hours. Last week I calibrated my battery readings from fully charged and it took 9 hours to completely drain out the battery (I have a 2011 model),
If you think it's not normal and that your battery doesn't meet your expectation then set up an appointment with the genius bar and have them test the battery. They will determine whether it is faulty or not.
