Battery broken?

Hey!
I have got a problem with my Macbook battery. (I could not find topics here, which describe the same point as I would like to.)
Though having been loaded to around 90%, the Macbook shut down all of a sudden some days ago! When I restarted it at home with Magsafe, the battery was said to be at 0%! It took not long, then, to got it recharged to 100%. Now, the Macbook does not work at all if Magsafe is not attached. The charge display constantly changes between 99% and 100% every some seconds.
The battery seems to be broken. Do I have to buy a new one? I bought my Macbook in January 2007. My system information announces 141 battery-loadcycles. - Aren't these too few for the battery to be broken?
Thank you for reading!

It would be helpful to provide a little more info as most people probably don't know what the SMC is or how to reset it. SMC is the System Management Controller. Here is Apple's post on how to reset it:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
It doesn't harm anything and you won't lose any of your data. It just sort of resets your hardware... which can sometimes correct funky problems.

  • Wireless keyboard battery broken inside: how to remove?

The AA battery of my wireless aluminium keyboard (iMac) have broke inside, it may have melt of something, it is glued, it does not move out. Any tip, any product or tool to force-remove it? Or is my keyboard dead?

It doesn't surprise me at all that there is no reply to this. This problem is the result of a rare product design blunder by Apple - and they never admit to those, much less remedy them. The battery compartment on the wireless keyboard is horribly designed. Making it a little tube like that with no other access point basically kills a keyboard whenever a 50 cent alkaline battery fails and leaks - and that happens all the time. If you search online, you'll see this problem mentioned multiple times. People suggest using a little bit of water, a screwdriver, some baking soda, and other methods to get the battery free...you'll note that nobody suggests contacting Apple or an Apple Store, because neither of them will do a thing about it.

  • Zen Micro battery problem e

    Hello!
i have zen micro wich is about a year old or so.. i was listening to it normally couple of weeks ago, when it suddenly crashed.. i had to take the battery off to shut it down, and after that it crashed allways in the creative logo screen for a while.. i plugged it to my computer and it began working normally.. i thought it was nothing and transferred some music to it and started listening to it.. it worked normally for a while but soon began crashing again and didn't power up at all after a while... i formatted it and reloaded it's firmware and now it works fine until the battery's powerbar's wich can be seen in the player's display go from 3 to 2 in usually 30 mins :| then it crashes and wont shut down again after a while when i have taken out the battery i can restart it for a while but it say's the battery is empty. so, is the battery broken and has to be replaced or is there something wrong in it's HD or something?

To both: It seems to me that your battery is dying, or has died already. If you are saying that it goes from 3 to 2 bars in just minutes, you might want to get a replacement. Did you maybe overheat the battery and left the player in a place with high temperatures? It can greatly affect your battery and the player-but the battery more. If you tried everything in recovery mode and still didn't work, call costumer support or get your player replaced, but I think it's only a one year warranty, that's always a bummer, unless you have a protection plan....
Good luck to both. Hope that helped a little =S

  • Thinkpad E330 battery

    Hi,
i have a Thinkpad e330, which is 2 years old. I wanted to buy a new battery, so I searched for a battery in the Lenovo store. The german lenovo store lists the "0A36290" battery if you choose the e330 in the dropdown list. So I bought a "0A36290" battery, but my laptop does not accept this battery. It says:
"This system may not support batteries that are not genuine Lenovo-made or authorized. The system will continue to boot, but may not charge unauthorized batteries.
Attention: Lenovo has no responsibility for the performance or safety of unauthorized batteries, and provides no warranties for failures or damaging arising out of their use."
Is the battery broken? Or is there a way to use this battery with the e330? Or which battery would work?
    Alexander

    Hi Alexander,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with battery not genuine on your ThinkPad E330.
The FRU number of the battery is correct and it is supported for ThinkPad E330, but it may differ from MTM (Machine Type Model) number.
Can you provide the bar code of the battery so that we can verify it once?
Below is the list of battery Part number.

  • Battery Loses Power After Update

Since upgrading my software on my Iphone 5 with the most current update the battery only lasts 4 to 6 hours. Before the upgrade my phone lasted often 2 days without a charge. This phone is basically USELESS for business now. I'm so disappointed!!!

Capacity now dropped to 94%.... Do I need to calibrate again, did something went wrong in calibration? Or is my battery broken?

  • Voltage in Battery Information Screen

I've been looking around the web trying to find out why my battery has suddenly decided it doesnt want to charge and one of the things I have noticed is that the voltage (mV) my battery screen information screen shows is a lot lower than all the other images i've seen - mine is 8000 odd and all pictures show 12000 odd.
Could this be a reason why my battery is not charging and why is my voltage soo much lower?

actually i have a slighlty different problem.
it says that is in but it doesnt power it.
I also tried to reset smc and all other things and nothings helps
when i put battery in my macbook somethimes i have a really fade green light and then it turn just green and and not orange while i have 0 battery power
and when i check battery in my toolbar it just says battery is not charging who can help.
is this just a software malfunctioning and is a update required or is my battery broken?

  • WHAT IS UP WITH THE IPODS BATTERY?

I am on my 3rd Ipod, and every 2 god **** months my Ipod has its battery BROKEN. I have treated this one like an angel, but now it only last 9 hours at most on standby. Now I have to get a 4TH one.

Seems odd that you are going through so many iPods.  Are you storing it in an oven or something?  Make sure you don't store it in your car, etc, where temperatures can get high.

  • Battery drains too fast

    Hello
I have this macbook air since now  a year.
he always had a battery life time of about 9 up to even 12 hours, even on high usage.
until i needed a new charger and the macbook seller sold me a macbook pro charger (85 watt)
suddenly i only have 4 up to 8 hours battery lifetime (according to the announce at to p of screen beneath the battery sybolo on desktop)
effective life time is much under this
suddenly i (even without any apps open) have maybe 3 hours lifetime left on full charged battery
it states : 8 hours, 10 minutes later: 6 hours, 20 minutes later: 5 hours etc.
here are the details of the battery:
(translated form german, sorry, but this should not affect the "understandability" of the data:
(they are taken during usage in battery usage)
    Left charge (in mAh): 3917
Full Load Capacity (in mAh): 4727 (was always around 5000 mah since i bought it)
Amount of charging cycles : 307
    State: Good
Voltage (in mV): 8223 (was always way lower, since i bought it, around 5000 and 6000 mah)
I alwas use the charger (plugged in usage) although sometimes i don't.
I am "upset" about the different advices the give in the net about Mac batteries:
once we should NEVER let them under 50% charge
once they talk about calibrate the battery by exactly let them drain  and keep it for even 5 hours "empty"
then again they state to use battery always down to low percent and recharge it...
I use since a short time a 85 W charger form Macbook pro, but net and MAcstore sellers state both this should not ale any issues
I'm wondering what happened to the battery, if there is some way to "become" back what i had before, a battery that worked at least 8 hours under "high pressure"
    Can anybody help?
Go to apple shop does not come into question as in argentina this si like going to macdonalds and try to get a roast beef.
change the battery: impossible in macbook air.
Is my battery broken after not even 400 cycles and this without any reason?
i don't run any process (hidden) i checked with activity manager
i don't have stuff memorized on clipboard.
almost all data (without adobe programs and default mac programs) are stored on external disk.
i run almost only native mac programs.
    Thank you!!!

    hello
    thank you for the tip
i did a SMC reset, after all the other suggested steps.
result is a even lower battery life time, by 88% battery charge: 4 hours 12 minutes remaining, with no apps running.
I must say i have also upgraded to yosemite OS X 10, but since when should such a minimalistic and honestly downgrading OS decrease the life of a battery that hard?
I checked the battery status etc again, and this changed (to worse) as well:
(88% battery charge left - 4:12 hrs left)
    -Left charge (in mAh): 3962
    -Fully charged : no
    -Battery is loading: no
-Full load capacity (in mAh): 4679
    -amount of charging cycles: 312
    -state: good
    -"voltage using" (in mA): -867
    -voltage (in mV): 8250
    compared to before:
    Left charge (in mAh): 3917
Full Load Capacity (in mAh): 4727 (was always around 5000 mah since i bought it)
Amount of charging cycles : 307
    State: Good
Voltage (in mV): 8223 (was always way lower, since i bought it, around 5000 and 6000 mah)
full load capacity decreased and voltage increased again.
    is this thing broken?
has anybody a idea WHY it is and WHAT could i do ?
battery has not yet reached the 1000 loads that i have been told will be the "breaking point" of a macbook air battery.
I am thankful of any info/idea/suggestion.

  • IPhone 5 shutdown when it's at 3%

My iPhone turns off when it's almost out of battery. It only has 3% but it suddenly turns off. It's not everytime sometimes it's earlier (at 6%) and sometimes at 1%. What is the problem? Is the battery broken? If so, is there a chance I get a refurbished one when I make a appoinment at a Apple store?
iPhone 5 16GB white (latest IOS version)
    Jur

Odds are the meter isn't accurate and that's why you're seeing it abruptly shut off.
If you consistently run the battery out, you will probably damage it and this behavior will get worse.
The battery in the iPhone works best when it has at least 20% of a charge. It is actually better to keep it as close to fully charged as possible & run it completely down once a month or so.

  • Satellite C50D-A-13G switches off when unplugged

    Hello
I have a new laptop but when I unplug it from the mains or switch the mains off it turns off immediately. The icon in the bottom right however says it is fully charged. Is there a way to fix this or is the battery broken?
    Thanks

Hi. I have the exact same problem with the same model. Argos will not take it back and in the first few hours of owning it, installed a secondary copy of Office that I had and set up all sorts of other software.
I now have a very personalised computer that cannot seem to work on the battery.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
