Battery charger for nano 4th gen

since the nano 4th gen has altered its charging is there anything on the market that will charge this nano up battery wise while camping for a week ? as ezegear power stick one firm says not compattable while another has the nano 4th gen listed as ok

I just happened to come across something at REI last week which I used on a camping trip last weekend.
It is a solar/crank powered flashlight/AM/FM/Weather radio that is pocket sized. The cool part is that it has an output for a mini USB connection so that you can charge your phone or your whatever charges from a USB connection.
Here is a link to it at REI:

It worked when I charged an iPhone and a Nano!

I got a usb charger for my 4th gen Ipod touch that at first allowed my to charge and transfer music from my laptop to the Ipod now nothing happens when I plug the usb cord and Ipod into my laptop. Its mac so it is an apple system. I am wondering how I can fix this problem I am not very good with techy stuff so this is very confusing how it was working and it just stopped.

    Hi johnsmiff99,
That is never fun when your iPod touch does not show up on your Mac. Take a look at the article below to walk you through on getting it to show back up on your iTunes. It is very easy to read so you wont feel overwhelmed with to much techy jargon. Let me know if you get this worked out.

  • FM transmiter that CHARGES iPod nano 4th gen

Hello.Well after the clickwheel crapped out on my girlfriends ipod nano 4gb 1st gen decided to get her a ipod nano 16gb 4th gen (pink..shes a girl:) for her birthday. So that's all decided. Now I start researching what fm transmitter to get and see a problem that many folks have...the fm transmitter DOES NOT charge the ipod. I come to you guys for suggestions.I did look at some like griffins' itrip line and while it said it is compatible i have seen reviews that said it does kick out an fm signal and does work in that respect BUT does not charge the unit which would suck. Please tell me what models you guys are using and if they are working for you.Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. I sent an email to griffin and in the reply they stated that all the products that say they work with ipod nano 4th gen....will work with that version. I just get a feeling like I am going to be returning it to the store after buying it.I have no worries about it actually transmitting an fm signal but charging..thats another story. Will update when I find out.

  • Car power cable for Nano 4th gen

So is there no car charge cable for my iPod nano 4th gen? Car lighter to regular iPod charge connector, but with power through the USB rather than firewire?
(I bought a new nano not knowing about this wrinkle, hoping to use my exisiting car power cable. How frustrating!)

FWIW, after trying & returning several combined FM transmitter & car charger products that didn't work as advertised, I eventually got a Belkin F8Z184 like the one pictured in this Amazon.com page, which is just a simple cigarette lighter charger. There seems to be some conflicting info about what product the part number represents (some searches on the P/N indicate it includes an FM transmitter but it does not), but the one I got had both the "Made for iPod" & "Works with iPhone" logos & works perfectly with my wife's Nano G4.
It seems well made & is very compact -- my only complaint is it fits so snugly in the cigarette lighter socket that it isn't easy to extract it because it is so short, but that is better than the problem I had with some other adaptors being so loose they would quit working if touched or jiggled by road bumps. I liked the LED power indicator & an automotive type safety fuse accessible in the side of the charger, & since I ended up paying less than Amazon's price and applied for a rebate as well, I considered it a good value.
You may not find this particular charger to your liking but I strongly recommend that you get one with the "Made for iPod" logo. It is worth it!

  • Battery charging mini and 4th gen

I Have a new 4th generation IPad and a mini I pad for my wife arrived today. The charging adapters are different. The mini one is smaller. Will it be O.K to charge the mini with the larger adapter?  We are going away and one cable & charger will be good.

The mini and 4th gen both use the lightning adapter it is quite small. Either you didn't buy a 4th gen or you were ripped off.

  • Does Ipod Nano 4th Gen charge in the  iHome iP9?

I know it says all ipod nanos first off, but I have seen many reports where older or even some newer accessories will not charge the new ipod nano 4th gen. If someone could please confirm or deny it does charge it.
    Thanks for your time.

Mouse over the 4th gen Nano at the end, so it will charge it, along with the iPhone 3G and 2nd Generation Touch.

  • Suggested sound dock for the 4th gen nano

Hi, I'm getting my son a new nano for Christmas, and wanted to get a sound dock to go with it.The nano is the 4th gen unit.
Q: Which sound docks work with the 4gen and will charge it
My price range is up to $100
The Klipsch units get good reviews but it's unclear to me if they support this unit or will charge it while docked.
    Many thanks

The Altec Lansing iM310 speakers work with the nano 4th gen (both charge and play). These speakers are carried by both Best Buy and Circuit City. The specs that show up on a lot of the online descriptions don't say it's compatible with the 4th gen, but if you go directly to Altec Lansing's website, it clearly states it is.
    About $80 everywhere.

  • Help to choose (HD) radio dock for iPod Nano 4th Gen

Can you help me decide what radio dock to get for my new iPod Nano 4th Gen?
    Desired features:
    Speaker (obviously)
iPod doc compatible with iPod Nano 4th Gen
    Radio AM/FM/HD
Reasonable audio quality (at a minimum)
I'm thinking of staying away from clock radio type docks as I suspect the audio quality on a clock radio dock is likely inferior to a speaker style dock.
I'd appreciate your comments - Thanks!

    Thanks for the suggestion!
I continued my search and also came across this one (Sony XDR-S10HDiP):

When I checked this model earlier in the week I could have sworn they only claimed support up to iPod Nano 3rd Gen, but today they claim 4th Gen.

  • Plugging Ipod nano(4th gen) in for the first time... Help

I have the ipod nano 4th gen. I plugged it into the computer for the first time, and itunes comes up. It then says you can register now or later I just clicked later(I am actually doing this for my sister, I have and ipod touch that I did the same with) But anyways, I clicked register later, and then it tells me that I have to Read and agree to the software(or something on that order) So I read through all of that and at the end, there is a box you can check to say that you have read and agreed. I did that, but then you have to click a button to confirm/continue im guessing. Well, my problem is, that my computer screen is too small for me to see the button, in other words, I cant confirm/continue and am stuck there, I cant do anything else with the ipod with out continuing this step. I have tried to Maxamize the screen and dragging over. nothing seems to work.
Is there any other day to agree and confirm to this? If there isn't, is there a way that I can get to the confirm/continue button?

    I changed my screen resolution to 1024 x 768,
yet I still cannot see the confirm/continue option.
I have tried all screen resolutions,
and I'm not able to see the button.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    I really need to know,
because I need to use my iPod.

  • Nano 4th gen keeps try to start up but cant..!!!

My ipod nano 4th gen now is stuck at the apple startup screen.. It keep cant go past there and try to restart ta the apple screen non-stop..
    How??

The problem happened after I disconnected the ipod from my computer. It was after the message "OK to disconnect". Then the nano instead of showing the interface, it showed the apple icon n for a very long time. And I think it tried to load the interface but since it cant, it reboot and stuck at the apple icon. It just keep restarting, and I cant shut it down, until the battery is flat.
I tried charging it and on the nano.. it is still stuck at the apple icon..
    Anyone encountered such problem before?

  • IPod Nano 4th Gen - Stuck on Apple logo

After not using my iPod Nano (4th Gen. 4GB) for about 4 months, I try to turn it on to find it isn't responding. I figured it was completely dead, so I plug it into my computer to see an Apple logo appear on the screen, and I leave it to charge for about an hour. After charging, my computer still didn't register any usb device. When I disconnected it was stuck on the apple logo. After waiting for a while it was still on Apple logo.
So, I did some reading and put it into disk mode. Once in disk mode it was recognized by my computer, and I promptly restored it. After it was restored I reset the iPod. But, again it was still stuck at the Apple logo screen.
I have repeated this process three times, and each time I reset it after restoring in disk mode, the iPod is stuck at the Apple logo screen.
Any ideas as to why it is doing this?

his is not operating system-specific, but I want to get it on the record somewhere since I could not find the solution anywhere else.
Last week, my third-generation 30GB iPod refused to go beyond the Apple logo on startup. It would power up, flash as if trying to go to the menu, but instead it would just show the Apple again. I tried all the usual recovery methods: resetting (hundreds of times and a couple of different ways), disk scans from the diagnostic menu, restoring with the latest iPod software and with an older version, fsck, using Disk Utility to repair and erase, Disk Warrior, letting the battery drain, everything.
Nothing worked ... until I used Disk Utility to reformat the disk with the "Zero Out Data" option (in the Security pop-up) enabled. This, apparently, reformatted the drive in such a way as to account for bad sectors. It took about an hour.
After that, I restored it with the latest iPod software, and to my delight, it booted normally. It now works fine.
Found that on web mite help you.... but i dont have a mac

  • Ipod Nano 4th Gen not recognised in Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Itunes and screen blank

    Hello,
I have a quite old (3-4 years old) iPod Nano 4th Gen.
The screen is blank, which means it needs charging. When I plug it into my laptop/computer then it doesn't show up which im assuming is because it needs charging.
When I plug it into my plug charger (plugged into a wall) nothing happens.
I think this is because the cables (I have 3- 2 computer USB cables and one plug charger cable) being too lose and not connecting to the iPhone fully.
I have looked at all the articles, I have done the R's, I have tried to restore it, I have pressed the clickwheel and centre button together and I have toggled the hold switch.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated! (And please save the "take it to apple support" etc... comments for if you can't think of anything else- not being rude but I know this)
    Thanks
    BitMyApple

Hey, I hear ya and can sympathize. I have the same
issue. The difference is that my computer can "see"
    my ipod but it refuses to show up in itunes itself;
therefore, I can't put anything on the ipod (from the
computer) and vice-versa. Apple support is clueless.
This is very frustrating to say the least. Itunes
keeps telling me that my ipod is synced to a
"different" computer, which isn't true. It's the
same computer. The difference is that when I first
got the 'pod and used it with this computer (and
everything worked fine), I was running XP. I
installed Vista and after that, all the problems
started. If I ever get this resolved, believe me,
    I'll post something here.
I'm guessing that somehow, itunes "sees" what
computer it's hooked to by "looking" at something in
the OS. Change the OS and it "thinks" it's seeing a
    "different" computer.
    Try reformatting it.
