Battery clip X230 - not broken, but not holding battery in

The clip that is spring-actioned (#2) no longer extends into the battery, so the battery slips out and powers down all the time. Is this an issue that should be covered by my extended warranty?

Hi Aryehsonnenberg,
Thank you for the reply!
We verified the image and I am thinking the same the spring might be loosen, if you are willing to check with reseat the spring, use the HMM manual. If the system is under warranty you can get it checked with service center.

    This isn't reference in any of the online support material that I've seen. Do you have a link to support this? Just curious is all.
    I had a similar issue on my wife's '09 MBP. Initially I thought it was the battery seeing as it's an older machine, but we tried resetting the SMC (after a bunch of other suggestions) and that seems to have done the trick.

  • Are messages I have not deleted but not backed up still on a server somewhere?

    Peculiar situation - I'll explan as succinctly as I can.
    Recently I had to restore my iphone. On it were stored a number of messages that I will describe as 'not deleted' but as I had not backed up successfully in some time - *cough* two months *cough* - the backup obviously did not restore them.
    The messages app is seemingly operating normally. No interruption is noted aside from problems associated with my carrier.
    Is there a way to retrieve those messages falling into the 'not deleted but historical and not captured by the backup' part of the resulting Venn diagram?

    No.
    Your iPhone should back up whenever you connect it to your computer or if you are syncing to iCloud, whenever you plug it in while on wi-fi...

  • Battery charges in one notebook, but not the one I'm using (Pavilion g6-1c45dx)

    Hi everyone,
    I'm using an HP Pavilion g6-1c45dx notebook. Windows 7 64-bit.
    This morning I went to take my notebook to work with me and noticed that the adapter input had been bent and the battery was not charging. I assumed that the problem was just hardware, and bought an HP Notebook Smart Power Adapter.
    If I plug the notebook into the wall with the adapter, with or without the battery in, it works fine, but does not charge. It stays at 9%.
    However, if I put the same battery and charger into an older Pavilion (dv5) on which the screen is broken, it charges quickly with no problem. Although the battery check tells me that this (and the older battery from the dv5) need to be replaced, both of them charge perfectly fine on the older computer.
    As far as I can tell, there seems to be some problem in between the battery and the adapter that I can't quite get at. I don't understand why it would charge on the othewise completely non-functional notebook but not this one, which is barely a year old. If it were something loose in the power input on the notebook itself, then I don't know why it would run fine on the AC wall current.
    I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the battery drivers. I'm at my wits' end and really don't want to have to buy a third notebook in as many years. It is functional for now, but I don't want to be tethered to a wall at all times or using a busted old computer for charging purposes.

    Since the adapter pin was bent I assume that there could be some kind of short circuite which might have damaged the connection between the battery and the AC adapter.
    You informed that the battery test failed on both batteries... so you have tried older battery with this PC, what was the result? and how much charge was there when you ran the test?
    Why dont you try a system restore or recovery!!
    I can think of this as last option to eliminate any possibilities of software conflict.

  • Battery not recognized, not charging, but not dead...AC plugged in

    My MacBook recently had a dilemma of not turning on. I went to the Apple Store and the Genius Bar tech guy fixed it with a SMC/PMU whatever power reset process it's called. Now my computer turns on, it just doesn't recognize the battery. The tech guy said my battery isn't dead, it just needs to be recharged. I'm kinda concerned that he didn't bother solving the issue at the store or try to tell me what is wrong. The computer only runs off the AC adapter, but sometimes when i plug it in the MagSafe connector will quickly flash green and orange repeatedly over and over and the battery status icon will go between X and 0% or from "No batteries recognized" to "Battery not charging" or "Charging not complete". This only happens occasionally. It also might say "Calculating..." but it will always go from one of these things then back to "No battery recognized" super fast repeatedly for a long while.
    Also, when i close my MacBook, it won't go to sleep immediately like it used to. So if i close it then unplug it to take it somewhere, it shuts down as opposed to sleeping. I know if it gets unplugged it might shut down cause lack of battery recognition, but why won't it sleep when i close it?
    I installed the Battery Update thingy for MacBooks and i don't think it did anything whatsoever. The AC cord works, the battery works, just not together on my laptop. I'm guessing while it was in it's permanent shut down state before i went to Apple Genius Bar, it must have drained the battery power, because i pushed the button when it didn't turn on the first time and it was fully charged with five green lights, then over the next two days i kept checking it and it slowly decreased until it is now a single flashing green light. It had two green lights when i went to the store, but after i got it "fixed" it stopped recognizing the battery.
    I've had this laptop for nearly two years now, and it has survived a lot. I read many forums/threads about battery failure in other MacBooks like mine, bought around the same time as mine, but my issue is a mix of all the different problems.
    For example, I have the same issues as these people did with their macbooks, but none of their solutions helped me:
    "my battery logo alternates between telling me the percentage and most of the time showing an 'X' in the battery, it says no batteries recognized. it even does it with the charger connected!"
    "The battery has a single, rapidly flashing, light when I press the button on it."
    "But it never is able to calculate a time, and if you disconnect the power, the computer immediately shuts down."
    "When I take out and reinsert the battery, it'll recognize it for a minute, flash in and out of orange, and than it will say no battery available."
    "In system profiler it says there's no battery installed, and the little LED lights on the bottom of the battery don't do a thing. It's as if the battery is not installed, yet it is."
    "My macbook has stopped working when not plugged in. The battery is installed but in profiler it says battery: not installed. Also there are no lights on the battery to show it charging. In the menu at the top of the desktop the battery has an X in it."
    "my laptop doesn't recognize my battery-- it only runs on the wall charger. I've tried popping the battery out, then back in. When the laptop isn't plugged in and I push the battery's little button, the first light flickers briefly for a second or two and then shuts off."
    "I turned on my Macbook with AC power after returning holidays. I realized it couldn't charge itself, and the battery indicator showed "X" with "No batterries available.""
    I searched everywhere for a solution. But it seems like i'll have to return to the Apple Store and get it fixed that way. Here's the computer info anyway:

    Do you have AppleCare? It seems to me you need a new battery but obviously we can't tell how bad the battery is unless you get that battery info while it is recognized.
    Try another SMC/PRAM reset and get that info. Call AppleCare about your issue if the Apple Store won't give you a new battery. (Depends how many cycles you have).

  • Use movie clip event handler function, but not via an event

    Let's say I have the following code:
    var initObj = new Object();
    initObj.mood = "happy";
    mc = attachMovie("mcBox","instBox",100,initObj);
    mc.onPress = boxPress;
    function boxPress() {
    trace("Box mood: " + this.mood);
    Now, let's say there are times that I want to call boxPress()
    other than when the onPress event happens. In other words, I want
    to call boxPress() for a movie clip via my AS code, but not when an
    onPress event has occurred for that movie clip. Is this possible?
    Or is it possible to simulate or force an onPress event for a movie
    clip so that the handler function gets called for that movie clip?

  • Do not disconnect, but not showing up

    Hooked up ipod, it says "Do Not Disconnect" but it's not showing up. What should I do? And why the H#@$ isn't there a "Find my iPod" item or something for just this occasion?!?
    thanks,
    dp

    When you unplug it does the Do Not Disconnect go away? If not, try resetting it after you unplug it...
    Slide the hold switch from OFF to ON back to OFF then immediately hold down BOTH the center and Menu buttons for a good 15-30 seconds or until it restarts with the Apple logo.
    Resetting isn't always effective once and you may need to retry it several times to get it to work.
    If it resets, plug it back in. Does it work any better? If not, unplug it again and reset it if needed. Now force the iPod into disk mode...
    Putting iPod into Disk Mode

    once in disk mode, now try plugging it again. If it shows up this time, I suggest you perform a restore on the iPod.

  • Mail not crashing but not working

    Today I noticed that I haven't received any emails in the past few days - hitting "Get Mail" does nothing other than a nice soft chime. I log on to Mobile Me - no recent mail. Then check my Ipad - nothing new.
    I check "Connection Doctor" and everything is green. I repair permissions using Disk Utility - twice. I throw out the .plist file - nothing seems to work.
    What else can I do? Should I reinstall Mail? I've backed my emails up so I'm not worried about losing anything.

    Hmmmm, the chime & checking WebMail would seem to indicate you have none, but have you tried eMailing yourself anything?
    Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
    Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
    Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
    Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
    If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup

  • Query for Price difference account when item is not sold but not on stock

    Hi Experts!
    One of my clients accountant requires a report which will help for what to do with the balance of the price difference account.
    At the and of the year there are some postings on this account, but not every item that hadnt been on stock when A/P Invoice arrived were sold. Some item were waistrel and put into a waistrel warehouse, but not sold.Some item were sent back to the supplier, but not sold.
    Is it possibble to make a query for knowing where to post the balance of the price difference account? Not all should be post to the Cost of goods sold.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
    The query is possible.  However, it is a complicated one. It is also need to involve detailed analysis to your transaction histories.  You may start from OINM table to check.
    Thanks,

  • Notes syncing but not showing up in Outlook

    I don't know if this is a topic somewhere, had a quick search couldnt find it.
    I have an old version of Outlook (2000), which technically doesn't sync with the iPod touch (according to the apple site, 2003/2007 is required). now Outlook really misbehaves on my computer anyway but this isn't the issue.
    I set it to sync anyway, just to see if it would, and it does seem to sync them. When I change Notes or make new ones, I get pop up messages when syncing, to ask if I want it to continue and overwrite them for example.
    This morning I had to do a full restore, and it would appear that my Notes ARE somewhere on my Computer, because they have returned themselves to my iPod. yet i have no idea WHERE they are.
    anyone know?

    In Outlook 2007, Notes are accessible in the bottom left corner of the window, at the bottom of what's called the Navigation Pane, below the Folder List. You may already have tabs there for Mail, Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks. Initially, there is no Notes tab, but the Notes icon is placed at the bottom. Click on that, and it opens up a default note, and positions the Notes tab under the Tasks tab. All Notes are initiated here, and sync'd Notes from your iPod Touch and/or iPhone will be displayed there as well, arranged chronologically. At least, that's how it works in Outlook 2007.

  • Black ink not printing but not empty

    My HP ENVY 5530 all in one printer is not printing black. I have checked the in level and it is 2/3rd's full. When I print a page, the color comes out but not the black. I have cleaned the printhead multiple times and when it prints the test page, all the colors come out but no black. The printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet.  I am very frustrated since this is a relatively new printer with both original ink cartridges.

    Hello,  Since you have tried performing the Clean Printhead multiple times and the issue still exists, it seems to be an issue with the printing module/ printhead.  You might try with a new Black Cartridge and check if the issue could be resolved.Else, its time to get the printer replaced / serviced. Please call HP Tech Support for further assistance.
